  • compile Passenger statically into Apache httpd?

    I prefer to disable httpd dynamic module loading on my production server. I've been using mod_jk linked statically into httpd for quite a long time and it proved to be stable. Now I would like to add Ruby Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) to my httpd. I wonder if it is possible to link it statically into Apache httpd the same way too? (without producing a huge httpd) If it is, are there any potential pitfalls, safety or performance concerns having both mod_jk and mod_rails within the same executable? Thanks

What information will I need? 1) Will the Windows 7 installer ask me for my XP license key? or 2) Will the Windows 7 installer only run if it can detect an existing XP installation? Furthermore, what will happen if my disk crashes and I need to reinstall in the future? Will I need my XP license key again?

    Possible Duplicate: Will a PCI-E V2.0 Graphics Card work with a PCI-E V1.0 Motherboard? My HP Pavilion p6754y has a PCI Express x16 slot on it's motherboard, I want to put a video car with something higher than either NVIDIA 8800GTS 512MB or greater or ATI 3850 512MB or greater but the only video cards I can find with those specs are PCI Express 2.0 x16. Is the PCI Express 2.0 x16 compatible with the PCI Express x16 slot?

  • How do I tell Thunderbird **never** to send (or even try to send) html emails?

    I hate html-based email, and always do everything possible to send my emails as plain text. My email client is Thunderbird, and it's always pestering me with questions like "This recipient cannot receive html..." or "In order to sign this email, it needs to be converted to plain text..." Is there a way I can simply say to Thunderbird "Look, old chap, it's all plain text, so don't bother me any more, ever, again"?

    Pre-Snow Leopard, I could use the following command: defaults write com.apple.loginwindow Finder /Applications/My-replacement-app-such-as-Terminal.app Which would a.) replace the Finder launching at login with an application of my choice, and b.) cause that application to launch instead of Finder when all other applications are quit. Is it possible to do this in Snow Leopard, or has this behavior been deprecated? (I don't want to disable Finder altogether, I just don't want it to start at login.)

  • Run script when a specific disk/memory card is mounted under OSX

    How do I run a script when a drive is mounted under OSX ? My usecase is that I would like to automatically copy images from my USB memory/harddrive when it is inserted in my USB card reader, and when a DVD or CD is inserted I would like to copy it for storage in my media center. I've tried using Marcopolo but from what I can see it can only detect the presence of a certain USB device, not the presence of specific harddrive.     is there a way with rsyslog or syslog-ng to allow tab delimited messages? I'm currently using rsyslog and the c syslog() function to generate syslog messages from within my app. The problem is that I use \t and they get translated into #011 when I view the logs. Ideally I'd like to have the other control chars translated except tab. is something like this possible?

    Is it possible to have a high availability setup with 2 servers? Running Windows Web Server 2008 and MSSQL Web Edition (as I know Express isn't supported)? Getting to the point where our one dedicated server needs scaled out and going to a second server already more than doubles the cost as need to use Web Edition rather than Express (db is only 500MB).

I have already tried a dual-boot setup, but I've found that it is too cumbersome to switch between Linux and Windows.     Back in the day, floppy disks were a: and if you were lucky b:, then when permanent storage came along c: was the default for hard disks (as I remember it) Now that many computers no longer have floppy disks is it possible to have your primary hard disk as A: is the convention out dated? Removable drives (like DVDs and flash readers) now seem to take lower precedence than permanent storage so it is a bit of an oddity that floppy disks should have higher letters.
