  • Using depends with the jQuery Validation plugin

    - by Glenn Slaven
    I've got a form with a bunch of textboxes that are disabled by default, then enabled by use of a checkbox next to each one. When enabled, the values in these textboxes are required to be a valid number, but when disabled they don't need a value (obviously). I'm using the jQuery Validation plugin to do this validation, but it doesn't seem to be doing what I expect. When I click the checkbox and disable the textbox, I still get the invalid field error despite the depends clause I've added to the rules (see code below). Oddly, what actually happens is that the error message shows for a split second then goes away. Here is a sample of the list of checkboxes & textboxes: <ul id="ItemList"> <li> <label for="OneSelected">One</label><input id="OneSelected" name="OneSelected" type="checkbox" value="true" /> <input name="OneSelected" type="hidden" value="false" /> <input disabled="disabled" id="OneValue" name="OneValue" type="text" /> </li> <li> <label for="TwoSelected">Two</label><input id="TwoSelected" name="TwoSelected" type="checkbox" value="true" /> <input name="TwoSelected" type="hidden" value="false" /> <input disabled="disabled" id="TwoValue" name="TwoValue" type="text" /> </li> </ul> And here is the jQuery code I'm using //Wire up the click event on the checkbox jQuery('#ItemList :checkbox').click(function(event) { var textBox = jQuery(this).siblings(':text'); textBox.valid(); if (!jQuery(this).attr("checked")) { textBox.attr('disabled', 'disabled'); textBox.val(''); } else { textBox.removeAttr('disabled'); textBox[0].focus(); } }); //Add the rules to each textbox jQuery('#ItemList :text').each(function(e) { jQuery(this).rules('add', { required: { depends: function(element) { return jQuery(element).siblings(':checkbox').attr('checked'); } }, number: { depends: function(element) { return jQuery(element).siblings(':checkbox').attr('checked'); } } }); }); Ignore the hidden field in each li it's there because I'm using asp.net MVC's Html.Checkbox method.

  • Grails JSON array

    - by armandino
I'm converting a list of Foo objects to a JSON string. I need to parse the JSON string back into a list of Foos. However in the following example, parsing gives me a list of JSONObjects instead of Foos. Example List list = [new Foo("first"), new Foo("second")] def jsonString = (list as JSON).toString() List parsedList = JSON.parse(jsonString) as List println parsedList[0].getClass() // org.codehaus.groovy.grails.web.json.JSONObject How can I parse it into Foos instead? Thanks in advance.

  • Very slow compile times on Visual Studio

    - by johnc
We are getting very slow compile times, which can take upwards of 20+ minutes on dual core 2GHz, 2G Ram machines. A lot of this is due to the size of our solution which has grown to 70+ projects, as well as VSS which is a bottle neck in itself when you have a lot of files. (swapping out VSS is not an option unfortunately, so I don't want this to descend into a VSS bash) We are looking at combing projects (not nice, as we like the separation of concerns, but is a good opportunity to refactor away some dead wood). We are also looking at having multiple solutions to achieve greater separation of concerns and quicker compile times for each element of the application. This I can see will become a dll hell as we try to keep things in synch. I am interested to know how other teams have dealt with this scaling issue, what do you do when your code base reaches a critical mass that you are wasting half the day watching the status bar deliver compile messages UPDATE Apologies, I neglected to mention this is a C# solution. Thanks for all the cpp suggestions, but it's been a few years since I've had to worry about headers. At a distance I say I miss C++, but I'm not sure I want to go back EDIT: Nice suggestions that have helped so far (not saying there aren't other nice suggestions below, just what has helped) New 3GHz laptop - the power of lost utilization works wonders when whinging to management Disable Anti Virus during compile 'Disconnecting' from VSS (actually the network) during compile - I may get us to remove VS-VSS integration altogether and stick to using the VSS UI Still not rip-snorting through a compile, but every bit helps. Orion did mention in a comment that generics may have a play also. From my tests there does appear to be a minimal performance hit, but not high enough to sure - compile times can be inconsistent due to disc activity. Due to time limitations, my tests didn't include as many Generics, or as much code, as would appear in live system, so that may accumulate. I wouldn't avoid using generics where they are supposed to be used, just for compile time performance WORKAROUND We are testing the practice of building new areas of the application in new solutions, importing in the latest dlls as required, them integrating them into the larger solution when we are happy with them. We may also do them same to existing code by creating temporary solutions that just encapsulate the areas we need to work on, and throwing them away after reintegrating the code. We need to weigh up the time it will take to reintegrate this code against the time we gain by not having Rip Van Winkle like experiences with rapid recompiling during development.

  • Explicit construction of entity type [MyClass] in query is not allowed.

    - by Code Sherpa
Hi. Like the title says, I have the following exception: Description: Event code: 3005 Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred. Exception information: Exception type: NotSupportedException Exception message: Explicit construction of entity type 'Company.Project.Core.Domain.Friend' in query is not allowed. I am using LINQ and have the following code in my datacontext: var friends2 = (dc.Friends .Where(f => f.MyFriendsAccountId == accountId && f.AccountId != accountId) .Select(f => new { f.FriendId, AccountId = f.MyFriendsAccountId, MyFriendsAccountId = f.AccountId, f.CreateDate, f.Timestamp })).Distinct(); result.AddRange(friends2 .Select(o => new Friend { FriendId = o.FriendId, AccountId = o.AccountId, CreateDate = o.CreateDate, MyFriendsAccountId = o.MyFriendsAccountId, Timestamp = o.Timestamp })); the final code block is throwing the error and I am pretty sure it is this statement that is the culprit: .Select( o => **new Friend** How should I be reworking my code to avoid this error? Code illustration appreciated. Thanks.

  • Rails 2.3.5 and oauth-plugin

    - by pgb
I started a rails application from scratch, using Rails 2.3.5, and installed oauth-plugin. The installation was done by running script/plugin install git://github.com/pelle/oauth-plugin.git. • MSBuild cannot find SGen when compiling a solution

    - by Jaxidian
I've looked at several other SGen-related questions on here and either their answers don't apply or their answers don't fix this for me. I have installed several SDKs to fix this issue with no luck. Reference types should not be changed since this is the only place this is a problem. Once suggestion is to put SGen.exe into the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 folder, but that's not been done on the box where this is not a problem. In this scenario, SGen.exe actually exists and is right where it's supposed to be, but MSBuild still is having issues with finding it for some reason! Background: We have a NAnt script that automates our builds. In this scenario, NAnt is calling MSBuild and MSBuild is generating the error claiming to be unable to find SGen. The project is .NET 3.5-based. I have my primary dev environment (64-bit Vista Ultimate) where the script works perfectly and I am attempting to duplicate it in a VM (64-bit Win 7 Ultimate). I THINK I have everything to the point where I should be good-to-go but this fails on the Win7 box (works perfectly on the Vista box). I have done some comparisons between the two boxes and they both look identical in this regard, but it still fails. For example, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework's sdkInstallRootv2.0 value is set to C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\v2.0 64bit\ on both machines. In both machines, SGen.exe is in that path's bin subdirectory. NAnt Script: <target name="report-installer" depends="fail-if-environment-not-set"> <exec program="MSBuild.exe" basedir="${framework35.directory}"> <arg value="${tools.directory.current}\ReportInstaller\ReportInstaller.sln" /> <arg value="/p:Configuration=${buildconfiguration.current}" /> </exec> </target> The error message I get is this: report-installer: [exec] Microsoft (R) Build Engine Version 3.5.30729.4926 [exec] [Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.4927] [exec] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2007. • UIScrollView. Any thoughts on implementing "infinite" scroll/zoom?

    - by dugla
So, UITableView supports essentially "infinite" scrolling. There' may be a limit but that sucker can scroll for a looonnnggg time. I would like to mimic this behavior with a UIScrollView but there are two fundamental impediments: 1) scrollView.contentSize is fixed at creation time. 2) zooming can blow any lazy-loading scheme all to hell since it can cause infinte data explosion. Have others out there pondered this idea? Yah, I know, we are essentially talking about re-creating Google Maps here. Any insights would be much appreciated. Cheers, Doug

  • How to compile a perl script (.pl) to a windows executable (.exe) with Strawberry Perl

    - by Notitze
What would be the easiest way to compile a simple perl script to an executable under windows with Strawberry Perl (as I understand it's possible and free). In the past I've used ActiveState compiler and perl2exe and was simple enough ... however, now after a few computer changes and OS updates I've lost the licenses and I'd like to find a better/permanent solution. Thanks in advance!

  • Inheritance security rules violated while overriding member - SecurityRuleSet.Level2

    - by Page Brooks
I have a class that inherits from Exception. In .NET 4, I started receiving a runtime error: Inheritance security rules violated while overriding member: MyBusinessException.GetObjectData(System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationInfo, System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext)'. Security accessibility of the overriding method must match the security accessibility of the method being overriden. I think the issue is caused by the fact that I am overriding GetObjectData. I know one answer for resolving the issue is to set the SecurityRuleSet: [assembly: SecurityRules(SecurityRuleSet.Level1)] This is not an acceptable answer, I'd like to know how to fix the issue without having to relax the default security rules in .NET 4.

  • LinqToSql - Parallel - DataContext and Parallel

    - by Gregoire
In .NET 4 and multicore environment, does the linq to sql datacontext object take advantage of the new parallels if we use DataLoadOptions.LoadWith? EDIT I know linq to sql does not parallelize ordinary queries. What I want to know is when we specify DataLoadOption.LoadWith, does it use parallelization to perform the match between each entity and its sub entities? Example: using(MyDataContext context = new MyDataContext()) { DataLaodOptions options =new DataLoadOptions(); options.LoadWith<Product>(p=>p.Category); return this.DataContext.Products.Where(p=>p.SomeCondition); } generates the following sql: Select Id,Name from Categories Select Id,Name, CategoryId from Products where p.SomeCondition when all the products are created, will we have a categories.ToArray(); Parallel.Foreach(products, p => { p.Category == categories.FirstOrDefault(c => c.Id == p.CategoryId); }); or categories.ToArray(); foreach(Product product in products) { product.Category = categories.FirstOrDefault(c => c.Id == product.CategoryId); } ?

  • MVC Dropdown List isn't binding to the model.

    - by Rod McLeay
Hi, I am trying set up a simple dropdown list but I dont seem to be able to get it to bind to the Model. I am using Asp.Net MVC and nhibernate. My dropdown list is declared like so: <%= Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Project, (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData["Projects"], " -- Select -- ", new { name = "Project" })%> I set up the select list like so: ViewData["Projects"] = new SelectList(projectRepository.GetAll(), "EntityGUID", "Name", editEntity.Project); This seems to bind the select list to the Dropdown fine, but the SelectedValue is not set. it shows up as the default --- Select --- Also when I save this data, the dropdown does not bind to the model, I have to manually set the object like so to save it: entity.Project = projectRepository.GetById(new Guid(Request["Project"].ToString())); I believe I have take the correct messures to have this item bind directly to my model. Is there something I am missing here? Many thanks for your time, Rod

  • How to override C# DateTime serialization with class auto-generated from wsdl?

    - by Calvin Fisher
I have a WSDL that the consumer of my web service expects will be adhered to strictly. I converted it into an interface with wsdl.exe and had my web service implement it. Except for this problem, I have been generally pleased with the results. A simple GetCurrentTime method will have the following response class generated from the WSDL in the interface definition: [System.CodeDobmCompiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("wsdl", "2.0.50727.3038")] [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace="[Client Namespace]")] public partial class GetCurrentTimeResponse { private System.DateTime timeStampField; [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute(Form=System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchemaForm.Unqualified] public System.DateTime TimeStamp{ // [accesses timeStampField] } } When I put the response data into the automatically generated response class, it gets serialized into an appropriate XML response. (Most of the web methods have much more complicated return types with multiple levels of arrays.) The problem is that the default serialization of DateTime objects violates one of the requirements in the WSDL: ... <xsd:simpleType name="SearchTimeStamp"> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:dateTime"> <xsd:pattern value="[0-9]{4}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{2}T[0-9]{2}:[0-9]{2}:[0-9]{2}(.[0-9]{1,7})?Z"> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> ... Note the last part of the pattern where subseconds must be either 1 or 7 characters if they are included. The client seems to be rejecting the response because it does not match that requirement. The main issue is that when .NET serializes a DateTime object, it omits all trailing zeroes, meaning the resulting subsecond value varies in length. (e.g., "12:34:56.700" gets serialized as "<TimeStamp>12:34:56:7</TimeStamp>" by default). We use millisecond precision, so I need all timestamps to format with 7 subsecond digits in order to be compliant with the WSDL. It would be easy if I could specify a format string, but I'm not sure how to control the string that the DateTime object uses to serialize to XML, or to otherwise override the serialization behavior. How do I do this? Keeping in mind the following... I would like to modify the generated code as little as possible... preferably not at all if the change can be made through a partial class or inherited class. Using an inherited class for the return type of the web method will cause the web service to no longer implement the auto-generated interface. The TimeStamp type occurs in other, more complex response types. So, manually overriding the entire serialization process may be prohibitively time-consuming.

I have a hybrid asp.net web forms / mvc application that I recently converted to .net 4 with mvc2. I have set-up that application to run on IIS 7.5 (on Windows 7) and the web forms part of the site is running okay but the MVC part is not. Whenever I try and access a page that needs to go through the routing engine I get HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Module IIS Web Core Notification MapRequestHandler Handler StaticFile Error Code 0x80070002 I'm debugging this web site through VS2010 (so I've set-it-up to use IIS instead of Cassini) and when I put a break point in the Application_Start function it is never hit so the routes are never registered. When I put a break point in the Page_Load function in one of the aspx page code-behinds it gets hit. So it seems that the problem is that the route is not being registered. What am I missing?

String a = @"{target=}jump"; String b = "continue"; String c = "jump"; String d = @"{target=intro}jump"; String e = "prev"; String f = @"{target=}choice"; String g = @"{target=intro}choice"; String h = "choice"; String i = "previous"; String j = @"{target=intro}continue"; String k = "cont"; String l = @"{target=}continue"; Regex regex = new Regex(@"(^{target=(\w.*)}(choice|jump))|(^[^.]*(continue|previous))"); var a_res = regex.IsMatch(a); var b_res = regex.IsMatch(b); var c_res = regex.IsMatch(c); var d_res = regex.IsMatch(d); var e_res = regex.IsMatch(e); var f_res = regex.IsMatch(f); var g_res = regex.IsMatch(g); var h_res = regex.IsMatch(h); var i_res = regex.IsMatch(i); var j_res = regex.IsMatch(j); var k_res = regex.IsMatch(k); var l_res = regex.IsMatch(l); Basically what i need is to get a match when choice or jump is present that it is proceeded by {target= } with any number of characters after the =. And also to match if continue or previous are present but only if they are proceeded by nothing. so A = false, b = true, c = false, d = true, e = false, f = false, g = true, h = false, i = true, j = false, k = false and l = false, with my regex above I get correct reading for everything bar j and l. Can anyone please help?

  • export to csv using fastercsv and CSV::Writer (Ruby on Rails)

    - by Venkat
What am I trying to do: export data to csv. I have a form which allows user to select the format (from a drop down menu). So based on the selection of the format the ouput is displayed using a ajax call. Works fine for html but when I select the format as csv I don't see any pop up on the screen (asking to save or open the file) and neither any file gets downloaded directly. I tried using Fastercsv (but the problem is that I don't see any pop up asking me whether I want to save or open the file) and CSV::Writer where I get this error message on the console. NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.bytesize): actionpack (2.3.4) lib/action_controller/streaming.rb:142:in `send_data' Code using Fastercsv: def export_to_csv csv_string = FasterCSV.generate(:col_sep => ",") do |csv| members = ["Versions / Project Members"] members_selected.each {|member| members << Stat.member_name(member)} Stat.project_members(project).each {|user| members << user.name} csv << ["some text", "text 2", "text 3"] end return csv_string end and this is how I am sending the data: send_data(export_to_csv,:type => 'text/csv; charset=iso-8859-1; header=present', :disposition => "attachment", :filename => "filename.csv") I see the response as "some text, text 2, text 3" in the firebug console but no pop up asking whether I want to save or open the file. This is what I am doing using CSV::Writer: def export_to_csv report = StringIO.new CSV::Writer.generate(report, ',') do |csv| csv << ['c1', 'c2'] end end and call it as: send_data(export_to_csv,:type => 'text/csv; charset=iso-8859-1; header=present', :disposition => "attachment", :filename => "filename.csv") This is the error which is thrown on the console: NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.bytesize): actionpack (2.3.4) lib/action_controller/streaming.rb:142:in `send_data'

  • WPF Richtextbox XamlWriter behaviour

    - by Krishna
I am trying to save some c# source code into the database. Basically I have a RichTextBox that users can type their code and save that to the database. When I copy and paste from the visual studio environment, I would like to preserve the formating etc. So I have chosen to save the FlowDocuments Xaml to the database and set this back to the RichTextBox.Document. My below two function serialise and deserialise the RTB's contents. private string GetXaml(FlowDocument document) { if (document == null) return String.Empty; else{ StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); XmlWriter xw = XmlWriter.Create(sb); XamlDesignerSerializationManager sm = new XamlDesignerSerializationManager(xw); sm.XamlWriterMode = XamlWriterMode.Expression; XamlWriter.Save(document, sm ); return sb.ToString(); } } private FlowDocument GetFlowDocument(string xamlText) { var flowDocument = new FlowDocument(); if (xamlText != null) flowDocument = (FlowDocument)XamlReader.Parse(xamlText); // Set return value return flowDocument; } However when I try to serialise and deserialise the following code, I am noticing this incorrect(?) behaviour using System; public class TestCSScript : MarshalByRefObject { } Serialised XAML is using System; public class TestCSScript : MarshalByRefObject {}{ } Notice the the new set of "{}" What am I doing wrong here... Thanks in advance for the help!

  • UIImagePicker on full screen on iPad

    - by Archip
For my tests, I need to create a simple app on the iPad to step 1. loads an image from the Photo library (UIImagePickerController). step 2. Then, this image is converted into texture and displayed into an OpenGL ES view. I started to define the app with the XCode Open GL ES template. Step 2 is Okay. But I have a problem launching the UIImagePickerController (step 1). On iPad, to create a UIImagePickerController, we need to use a UIPopoverController. But to create a UIPopover, we need to attach it to a content view controller In my app, I dont want to define a specific view controller (Navigation or SplitView or TabBar...). I just need to have the UIImagePicker displayed on full screen when launching the app. I am looking for a programatical solution with a minimum of lines of code added from the Open GL ES iPad template, to perform step 1 (step 2 is okay for me). any code available? Thank you for your help Seb

  • Change/check minimum iPhone OS for Universal apps?

    - by Moshe
The dropdown in XCode shows a base SDK of 3.2, but my iPod Touch (2nd generation), running OS 3.1.3, will run the app just fine in debug mode. (Command + Return/Enter) What is the actual base SDK of my iPhone/iPod touch version of the app and how can I change this? Changing it by right clicking on the project name in the "Groups and Files" pane and changing "Base SDK" under the "Build", doesn't do much. Edit: While writing this question, I found that scrolling down in "Build" and changing "iPhone OS Deployment Target" seems to be what I'm looking for, I'm posting this anyway. Perhaps someone has more insight into this...

  • fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_system-vc90-mt-gd-1_43.lib'

    - by Poni
Made a new project, added main.cpp and wrote the code at this URL: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/doc/html/boost_asio/example/echo/async_tcp_echo_server.cpp Also, added the appropriate include path. What's next?!?!! It seems like a darn mystery to build a boost code! Been digging on it for more than 10 hours. Can anyone give a straightforward answer on how to build the boost library from the code under windows, VC9? God bless you all.

  • WCF Data Service BeginSaveChanges not saving changes in Silverlight app

    - by Enigmativity
I'm having a hell of a time getting WCF Data Services to work within Silverlight. I'm using the VS2010 RC. I've struggled with the cross domain issue requiring the use of clientaccesspolicy.xml & crossdomain.xml files in the web server root folder, but I just couldn't get this to work. I've resorted to putting both the Silverlight Web App & the WCF Data Service in the same project to get past this issue, but any advice here would be good. But now that I can actually see my data coming from the database and being displayed in a data grid within Silverlight I thought my troubles were over - but no. I can edit the data and the in-memory entity is changing, but when I call BeginSaveChanges (with the appropriate async EndSaveChangescall) I get no errors, but no data updates in the database. Here's my WCF Data Services code: public class MyDataService : DataService<MyEntities> { public static void InitializeService(DataServiceConfiguration config) { config.SetEntitySetAccessRule("*", EntitySetRights. All); config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("*", ServiceOperationRights. All); config.DataServiceBehavior.MaxProtocolVersion = DataServiceProtocolVersion.V2; } protected override void OnStartProcessingRequest(ProcessRequestArgs args) { base.OnStartProcessingRequest(args); HttpContext context = HttpContext.Current; HttpCachePolicy c = HttpContext.Current.Response.Cache; c.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.ServerAndPrivate); c.SetExpires(HttpContext.Current.Timestamp.AddSeconds(60)); c.VaryByHeaders["Accept"] = true; c.VaryByHeaders["Accept-Charset"] = true; c.VaryByHeaders["Accept-Encoding"] = true; c.VaryByParams["*"] = true; } } I've pinched the OnStartProcessingRequest code from Scott Hanselman's article Creating an OData API for StackOverflow including XML and JSON in 30 minutes. Here's my code from my Silverlight app: private MyEntities _wcfDataServicesEntities; private CollectionViewSource _customersViewSource; private ObservableCollection<Customer> _customers; private void UserControl_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (!System.ComponentModel.DesignerProperties.GetIsInDesignMode(this)) { _wcfDataServicesEntities = new MyEntities(new Uri("http://localhost:7156/MyDataService.svc/")); _customersViewSource = this.Resources["customersViewSource"] as CollectionViewSource; DataServiceQuery<Customer> query = _wcfDataServicesEntities.Customer; query.BeginExecute(result => { _customers = new ObservableCollection<Customer>(); Array.ForEach(query.EndExecute(result).ToArray(), _customers.Add); Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(() => { _customersViewSource.Source = _customers; }); }, null); } } private void button1_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { _wcfDataServicesEntities.BeginSaveChanges(r => { var response = _wcfDataServicesEntities.EndSaveChanges(r); string[] results = new[] { response.BatchStatusCode.ToString(), response.IsBatchResponse.ToString() }; _customers[0].FinAssistCompanyName = String.Join("|", results); }, null); } The response string I get back data binds to my grid OK and shows "-1|False". My intent is to get a proof-of-concept working here and then do the appropriate separation of concerns to turn this into a simple line-of-business app. I've spent hours and hours on this. I'm being driven insane. Any ideas how to get this working?
