• How to make mysql accept connections externally

  I have a VPS and I want to make mysql DB accept connection externally (from my PC for instance). I have Debian Linux installed on the server. I checked some tutorials online and they said to comment out: bind-address = 127.0.0.1 But this didn't seem to help! is there anything specific for VPSs? or Am I missing something else? The command that runs mysql is: /usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid --skip-external-locking --port=3306 --socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

• Mockito verify no more interactions but omit getters

  Mockito api provides method: Mockito.verifyNoMoreInteractions(someMock); but is it possible in Mockito to declare that I don't want more interactions with a given mock with the exceptions of interactions with its getter methods? The simple scenario is the one in which I test that sut changes only certain properties of a given mock and lefts other properties untapped. In example I want to test that UserActivationService changes property Active on an instance of class User but does't do anything to properties like Role, Password, AccountBalance, etc. I'm open to criticism regarding my approach to the problem.

  Hello, 1) Let's say I've a class MyDataInfo public class MyDataInfo { public int MyDataInfoID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } For the purpose of the fuctionality I'm after, I've created another class (MyData) whose property members are of MyDataInfo type. 2) Here's myData public class MyData { public MyDataInfo Prop1 { get; set; } public MyDataInfo Prop2 { get; set; } } 3) And, here's my action method public ActionResult MyAction() { MyData myObject = new MyData(); return View(myObject); } 4) Finally, this in my View template (which is strongly typed and inherits from MyData) <% = Html.Encode (Model.Prop1.Name)%> <% = Html.Encode (Model.Prop2.Name)%> Unfortunately, I got an error "Object not set to an instance of an object." Am I missing something or is there a different way of obtaining the same result? Thanks for helping

• [Alfresco] property qualified-name in method getContentReader

  Hi there, I first apologize for my poor english level and maybe for the stupidity of my question ;) I am on an alfresco project to learn how it works. I have to browse programatically my content repository and gather datas all along. In order to do that I guessed I had to use a ContentReader (I get from my ContentService) but the method getReader wants a nodeRef and a propertyQualifiedName. I am ok with the nodeRef, I get what it's needed for. But the propertyQualifiedName puzzles me, I barely get what it is but I frankly don't get how it is used. Reading some alfresco forum threads I get more and more scared that I dont even get how a reader works, I somewhere saw that a reader can read only one node and only one time per instance. If anyone knows a bit about the Java API for Alfresco Content Repository use I am all hears ! Cheers all !

• Stop VBA Evaluate from calling target function twice

  I am having trouble getting VBA's Evaluate() function to only execute once; it seems to always run twice. For instance, consider the trivial example below. If we run the RunEval() subroutine, it will call the EvalTest() function twice. This can be seen by the two different random numbers that get printed in the immediate window. The behavior would be the same if we were calling another subroutine with Evaluate instead of a function. Can someone explain how I can get Evaluate to execute the target function once instead of twice? Thank you.   I am using the googleJsonAPIService to manipulate users (CRUD).   Hi, Every the example I find on the internet (including Apple doc) sets the target to self like this : [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(threadedTask) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; Since i would like to do a more complex task in background (involving multiple methods), I thought of creating a class Task called like this : Task *task = [[Task alloc] init]; [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(main) toTarget:task withObject:nil]; but I wonder, how will be handled the instance variables of my class Task ? in my method main can I safely call methods of my class Task using [self myMethod] and modifying members variables assuming I'm the only thread accessing it ? This way of handling threads seems weird to me, sorry if my question is stupid ^^ Thanks in advance

• What permissions needed to connect to SQL Server Integration Services

  I need to allow a consultant to connect to SSIS on a SQL Server 2008 box without making him a local administrator. If I add him to the local administrators group, he can connect to SSIS just fine, but it seems that I can't grant him enough permissions through SQL Server to give him these rights without being a local admin. I've added him to every role on the server, every database role in MSDB shy of DBO, and he's still not able to connect. I don't see any SSIS-related Windows groups on the server - Is membership in the Local Administrators group really required to connect to the SSIS instance on a SQL Server? It seems like there is somewhere I should be able to grant "SSIS Admin" rights to a user (even if it's a Windows account and not a SQL account), but I can't find that place. UPDATE: I've found an MSDN article (See the section titled "Eliminating the 'Access if Denied' Error") that describes how to resolve problem, but even after following the stepsI'm still not able to connect. • How to check when animation finishes if animation block is

  I have a controller which adds as subviews a custom UIView class called Circle. Let's call a particular instance of Circle, "circle". I have a method in Circle, animateExpand, which expands the circle by animating the view. In the following code (which lives in the controller) I want to alloc and init a circle, add it to a NSMutableArray circleArray, animate the expansion, and at the end of the expansion, i want to remove the object from the array. My attempt: Circle *circle = [[Circle alloc] init]; [circleArray addObject:circle]; [circle animateExpand]; [circleArray removeObjectIdenticalTo:circle]; [circle release]; The problem is [circleArray removeObjectIdenticalTo:circle]; gets called before the animation finishes. Presumbly because the animation is done on a seperate thread. I cant implement the deletion in completion:^(BOOL finished){ }, because the Circle class does not know about a circleArray. Any solutions would be helpful, thanks!

  So...I'm trying to get unit tests set up in my iPhone App but I'm having some issues. I'm trying to test my model classes but they inherit directly from NSManagedObject. I'm sure this is a problem but I don't know how to get around it. Everything is building and running as expected but I get this error when calling any method on the class I'm testing: Unknown.m:0:0 unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xc2b120 If I follow this structure (http://chanson.livejournal.com/115621.html) to create my object in my tests I end up with another error entirely but it still doesn't help me. Basically my question is this: how can I test a class that inherits from NSManagedObject?

• WCF Service Memory Leaks

Problem Now when i performed above client code in a loop of 1000 i found big difference between "All Heap bytes" and "Private Bytes" performance counters (i used .net memory profiler). After investigation i found some of the objects are not properly disposed following are the list of those objects (1000 undisposed instance were found -- equals to the client calls) (namespace for all of them is System.ServiceModel.Channels) HttpOutput.ListenerResponseHttpOutput.ListenerResponseOutputStream BodyWriterMessage BufferedMessage HttpRequestContext.ListenerHttpContext.ListenerContextHttpInput.ListenerContextInputStream HttpRequestContext.ListenerHttpContext Questions Why do we have lot of undisposed objects and how to control them. • setting source classpath in eclipse

  What do you guys do, when you have huge project built with ant for instance, where the source folders are right bellow the root project folder for building classpath from source files ? putting entire project as a source folder is nonsense. Putting separate folders as source folders can't be done if they are part of the package hierarchy and the only thing I could think of, is to copy the source folders into a separate folder and add it then as source folder which is weird but I don't know how else to do it. Having to duplicate sources just because of the eclipse way of making classpath and also because of somebody doing stupid project structure

• Grails application hogging too much memory

  Tomcat 5.5.x and 6.0.x Grails 1.6.x Java 1.6.x OS CentOS 5.x (64bit) VPS Server with memory as 384M export JAVA_OPTS='-Xms128M -Xmx512M -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m' I have created a blank Grails application i.e simply by giving the command grails create-app and then WARed it I am running Tomcat on a VPS Server When I simply start the Tomcat server, with no apps deployed, the free memory is about 236M and used memory is about 156M When I deploy my "blank" application, the memory consumption spikes to 360M and finally the Tomcat instance is killed as soon as it takes up all free memory As you have seen, my app is as light as it can be. Not sure why the memory consumption is as high it is. I am actually troubleshooting a real application, but have narrowed down to this scenario which is easier to share and explain.

• Inline Form Validation in Django

  Newbie request that seems difficult to implement. I would like to make an entire inline formset within an admin change form compulsory.. so in my current scenario when I hit save on an Invoice form (in Admin) the inline Order form is blank. I'd like to stop people creating invoices with no orders associated. Anyone know an easy way to do that? Normal validation like (required=True) on the model field doesn't appear to work in this instance. Thanks!!

• Autocompletion in Eclipse for Roo project

  Hi guys, I've got a Roo project where I've made a couple of entities, and when I load up the project in Eclipse it loads up fine, but if I i.e. make an instance MyEntity entity and then write entity. I don't get any of my properties (i.e. getMyField) in the autocompletion list. If I write entity.getMyField() it compiles fine, that is taken care of by the aspects. • How precise is the internal clock of a modern PC?

  I know that 10 years ago, typical clock precision equaled a system-tick, which was in the range of 10-30ms. Over the past years, precision was increased in multiple steps. Nowadays, there are ways to measure time intervals in actual nanoseconds. However, usual frameworks still return time with a precision of only around 15ms. My question is, which steps did increase the precision, how is it possible to measure in nanoseconds, and why are we still often getting less-than-microsecond precision (for instance in .NET). (Disclaimer: It strikes me as odd that this was not asked before, so I guess I missed this question when I searched. Please close and point me to the question in that case, thanks. I believe this belongs on SO and not on any other SOFU site. I understand the difference between precision and accuracy.)

• Redimming arrays in VBA

  I have 3 arrays of data, that are filled by reading off of an excel sheet, some of the points of data are missing and as such have just been entered into excel as "NA" so I want to look through my array and find each instance of these NA's and remove them from the array since the information is useless. I need to update all three arrays at the same time. • Detecting if Excel file has been closed

  Hi StackOverflow, I've spent the past 3 hours trawling the web for answers to no avail, so I hope you can help me. I'm writing an application which automates Excel. The application has an option to "show/hide the excel sheet" so you can look at it, make any final changes and so forth. Closing the application will naturally close the instance of Excel, however, there is a small chance that someone may exit out of Excel directly, without thinking. This breaks my application and I can't seem to find anyway of "checking if the same workbook is still open, and if not, re-opening it", before saving it I've tried all sorts of things: checking if the Excel Application is null (when it's !=null it will save correctly, but when it "is" null (or at least, something other than !=null it won't even hit the breakpoint so I'm completely lost :( Help please?

• Getting PDT code completion to recognise runtime return types from base class?

  Hi guys, I've got an abstract base class: abstract class BaseClass { /** * @return CLASSNAME */ public function fluent() { // do stuff return $this; } } Generally, i would put BaseClass where CLASSNAME is and all would be fine, PDT would pick up the phpdoc return type and happily autocomplete. Until, that is, I subclass BaseClass and add additional methods, and code compete on an instance of the derived class. PDT will only recognise the methods from BaseClass and not those from the derived class. What I need is something like @return self or @return this. Does PDT have such functionality? Or is there an alternate trick without having to declare these methods in every derived class?

  A class has a property (and instance var) of type NSMutableArray with synthesized accessors (via @property). If you observe this array using: [myObj addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"theArray" options:0 context:NULL]; And then insert an object in the array like this: [[myObj theArray] addObject:[NSString string]]; An observeValueForKeyPath... notification is not sent. However, the following does send the proper notification: [[myObj mutableArrayValueForKey:@"theArray"] addObject:[NSString string]]; This is because mutableArrayValueForKey returns a proxy object that takes care of notifying observers. But shouldn't the synthesized accessors automatically return such a proxy object? What's the proper way to work around this--should I write a custom accessor that just invokes [super mutableArrayValueForKey...]?

  I'd like an instance variable object to adopt a protocol. @interface GameScene : Scene <AVAudioPlayerDelegate> { @private Layer *content <CocosNodeOpacity>; } For example I'd like my Layer object to adopt the <CocosNodeOpacity> so that I can get the methods -(GLubyte) opacity; //and -(void) setOpacity: (GLubyte) opacity; for free. The syntax shown above is invalid. Is it possible to achieve this without creating a new implementation file and creating a custom object? Thanks.
