  • Get the id of the link and pass it to the jQueryUI dialog widget

    - by Mike Sanchez
    I'm using the dialog widget of jQueryUI. Now, the links are grabbed from an SQL database by using jQuery+AJAX which is the reason why I used "live" $(function() { var $dialog = $('#report') .dialog({ autoOpen: false, resizable: false, modal: true, height: 410, width: 350, draggable: true }) //store reference to placeholders $uid = $('#reportUniqueId'); $('.reportopen').live("click", function (e) { $dialog.dialog('open'); var $uid = $(this).attr('id'); e.preventDefault(); }); }); My question is, how do I pass the id of the link that triggered the dialog widget to the dialog box itself? The link is set up like this: <td align="left" width="12%"> <span id="notes"> [<a href="javascript:void(0)" class="reportopen" id="<?=$reportId;?>">Spam</a>] </span> </td> And the dialogbox is set up like this: <div id="report" title="Inquire now"> HAHAHAHAHA <span id="reportUniqueId"></span> </div> I'd like for the id to be passed and generated in the <span id="reportUniqueId"></span> part of the dialog box. Any idea?

  • Jquery datepicker popup not closing on select date in IE8

    - by Notorious2tall
    I've got a web form with a start date field. I've tied a jquery datepicker to the txt field. Now when I choose a date in FF, the selected date is populated in the text box and the calendar popup closes. However when I do the same thing in IE8, the selected date is populated in the text box but the popup remains open. I've also noticed that a script error is generated as soon as I select a date in the popup calendar. I'm using jquery 1.3.2, jquery-ui 1.7.2, and .NET 3.5. Here's an example of my code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#<%=txtStartDate.ClientID%>").datepicker({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, showButtonPanel: true, showOn: 'button', buttonImage: '/_layouts/images/CALENDAR.GIF', buttonImageOnly: true }); }); </script> <div id="stylized"> <asp:ValidationSummary ID="vs" runat="server" CssClass="messages-error" HeaderText=" Action required before the form can be submitted." ForeColor="" ValidationGroup="sh" /> <div class="formrow"> <div class="ms-formlabel formlabel"> <asp:Label ID="lblStartDate" runat="server" CssClass="ms-standardheader" AssociatedControlID="txtStartDate">Start Date:</asp:Label> </div> <div class="ms-formbody formfield"> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="reqStartDate" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtStartDate" ErrorMessage="Start Date is a required field." Text="*" Display="Dynamic" ValidationGroup="sh"></asp:RequiredFieldValidator> <asp:CompareValidator ID="cvStartDate" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtStartDate" ErrorMessage="Date must be in the format MM/DD/YYYY" Text="*" Display="Dynamic" ValidationGroup="sh" Operator="DataTypeCheck" Type="Date"></asp:CompareValidator> <asp:TextBox ID="txtStartDate" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <span class="formMessage">ex. MM/DD/YYYY</span> </div> </div> <div id="buttonrow"> <asp:Button ID="btnSubmit" runat="server" Text="Submit" CssClass="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" OnClick="Submit_Click" ValidationGroup="sh" /> <asp:Button ID="btnCancel" runat="server" Text="Cancel" CssClass="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" OnClick="Cancel_Click" CausesValidation="false" /> </div> </div> Here's the script error I get in IE when I select the date: 'length' is null or not an object WebResource.axd Here's the code where the error is being thrown from: function ValidatorOnChange(event) { if (!event) { event = window.event; } Page_InvalidControlToBeFocused = null; var targetedControl; if ((typeof(event.srcElement) != "undefined") && (event.srcElement != null)) { targetedControl = event.srcElement; } else { targetedControl = event.target; } var vals; if (typeof(targetedControl.Validators) != "undefined") { vals = targetedControl.Validators; } else { if (targetedControl.tagName.toLowerCase() == "label") { targetedControl = document.getElementById(targetedControl.htmlFor); vals = targetedControl.Validators; } } var i; for (i = 0; i < vals.length; i++) { ValidatorValidate(vals[i], null, event); } ValidatorUpdateIsValid(); } It happens on the .length in the for loop at the end. Vals is null and isn't found in the previous if/else. I've stepped through the javascript and if (typeof(targetedControl.Validators) != "undefined") returns false and then if (targetedControl.tagName.toLowerCase() == "label") returns false too. Thus the length is null or not an object error. Now I'm not sure if the datepicker popup not closing in IE and the script error in the WebResources.axd file are related errors, but I'm leaning that way. Can anyone tell me why the popup isn't closing?

  • Problem with jQuery plugin TinySort

    - by Volmar
    I'm trying to sort a list with the help of jQuery and the TinySort-plugin, and it works good but one thing is not working as i want. • Need to determine button clicked in a JQuery mobile popup and perform actions based thereon

    - by Clifford
    I am having a problem with a JQM popup. The popup has 3 buttons, and the action taken in the main program depends on which button is clicked. The code in the main program is run more than once and I am not sure why. The simple example below uses an alert to display which button on the popup was clicked. When the popup is called the first time, it works as hoped, the 2nd time, the alert is displayed twice, the 3rd time, the alert is displayed 3 times, etc. <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-2.6.0.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"/></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.mobile-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <script> function doCustomDialog(text1,button1,button2,button3,callback) { $("#customDialog .customDialogDesc").text(text1); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption1").text(button1).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option1"); }); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption2").text(button2).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option2"); }); $("#customDialog .customDialogOption3").text(button3).on("click.customDialog", function(){ callback("option3"); }); $("#customDialog").popup("open"); } </script> </head> <body> <div data-role="page" id="mainPage"> <div data-role="content"> <INPUT type="button" id="confirm" value="Save data" /> <div data-role="popup" id="customDialog" data-title="Are you sure?" class="ui-content"> <p class ="customDialogDesc">???</p> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption1" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">Yes</a> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption2" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">No</a> <a href="#" class ="customDialogOption3" data-role="button" data-theme="b" data-rel="back">Cancel</a> </div> </div> </div> <script> $("#mainPage").on("pageshow", function(e) { $("#confirm").click(function() { doCustomDialog("A similar record already exists.   • JQuery Slide Onclick

    - by everreadyeddy
    I am using the code in example http://www.faridesign.net/2012/05/create-a-awesome-vertical-tabbed-content-area-using-css3-jquery/ I am trying to slide the div tags on a button click on the list so the current tab-content will slide in and the tab just clicked will slide out. I currently have the working example where I can switch between divs fine, but I need to slide in and out between divs. Is there any script I can do this with the current code. using .slide or .effect instead of .show() looks to display two divs at the same time. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. <div id="v-nav"> <ul> <li tab="tab1" class="first current">Main Screen</li> <li tab="tab2">Div 1</li> <li tab="tab3">Div 2</li> <li tab="tab4">Div 3</li> <li tab="tab5">Div 4</li> <li tab="tab6">Div 5</li> <li tab="tab7">Div 6</li> <li tab="tab8" class="last">Div 7</li> </ul> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Main Screen</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 1</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 2</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 3</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 4</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 5</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 6</h4> </div> <div class="tab-content"> <h4>Div 7</h4> </div> My Script looks like $(function () { var items = $('#v-nav>ul>li').each(function () { $(this).click(function () { //remove previous class and add it to clicked tab items.removeClass('current'); $(this).addClass('current'); //hide all content divs and show current one //$('#v-nav>div.tab-content').hide().eq(items.index($(this))).show(); //$('#v-nav>div.tab-content').hide().eq(items.index($(this))).fadeIn(100); $('#v-nav>div.tab-content').hide().eq(items.index($(this))).slideToggle(); window.location.hash = $(this).attr('tab'); }); }); if (location.hash) { showTab(location.hash); } else { showTab("tab1"); } function showTab(tab) { $("#v-nav ul li:[tab*=" + tab + "]").click(); } // Bind the event hashchange, using jquery-hashchange-plugin $(window).hashchange(function () { showTab(location.hash.replace("#", "")); }) // Trigger the event hashchange on page load, using jquery-hashchange-plugin $(window).hashchange(); });

  • conditional selects with jQuery and the Validation plugin

    - by dbonomo
    Hi, I've got a form that I am validating with the jQuery validation plugin. I would like to add a conditional select box (a selection box that is populated/shown depending on the selection of another) and have it validate as well. Here is what I have so far: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#customer_information").validate({ //disable the submit button after it is clicked to prevent multiple submissions submitHandler: function(form){ if(!this.wasSent){ this.wasSent = true; $(':submit', form).val('Please wait...') .attr('disabled', 'disabled') .addClass('disabled'); form.submit(); } else { return false; } }, //Customizes error placement errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.insertAfter(element) error.wrap("<div class=\"form_error\">") } }); $(".courses").hide(); $("#course_select").change(function() { switch($(this).val()){ case "Certificates": $(".courses").hide().parent().find("#Certificates").show(); $(".filler").hide(); break; case "Associates": $(".courses").hide().parent().find("#Associates").show(); $(".filler").hide(); break; case "": $(".filler").show(); $(".courses").hide(); } }); }); And the HTML: <select id="course_select"> <option value="">Please Select</option> <option value="Certificates">Certificates</option> <option value="Associates">Associates</option> </select> <div id="Form0" class="filler"><select name="filler_select"><option value="">Please Select Course Type</option></select></div> <div id="Associates" class="courses"> <select name="lead_source_id" id="Requested Program" class="required"> <option value="">Please Select</option> <option value="01">Health Information Technology</option> <option value="02">Human Resources </option> <option value="03">Marketing </option> </select> </div> <div id="Certificates" class="courses"> <select name="lead_source_id" id="Requested Program" class="required"> <option value="">Please Select</option> <option value="04">Accounting Services</option> <option value="05">Bookkeeping</option> <option value="06">Child Day Care</option> </select> </div> So far, the select is working for me, but validation thinks that the field is empty even when a value is selected. It looks like there are a ton of ways to do conditional selects in jQuery. This was the best way I managed to work out (I'm new to jQuery), but I'd love to hear what you folks feel is the "best" way, especially if it works well with the validation plugin. Thanks!

  • Building Web Applications with ACT and jQuery

    - by dwahlin
    My second talk at TechEd is focused on integrating ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery features into websites (if you’re interested in Silverlight you can download code/slides for that talk here). The content starts out by discussing ScriptManager features available in ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4 and provides details on why you should consider using a Content Delivery Network (CDN).  If you’re running an external facing site then checking out the CDN features offered by Microsoft or Google is definitely recommended. The talk also goes into the process of contributing to the Ajax Control Toolkit as well as the new Ajax Minifier tool that’s available to crunch JavaScript and CSS files. The extra fun starts in the next part of the talk which details some of the work Microsoft is doing with the jQuery team to donate template, globalization and data linking code to the project. I go into jQuery templates, data linking and a new globalization option that are all being worked on. I want to thank Stephen Walther, Dave Reed and James Senior for their thoughts and contributions since some of the topics covered are pretty bleeding edge right now.The slides and sample code for the talk can be downloaded below.     Download Slides and Samples

  • Inserting HTML code with jquery

    - by J. Robertson
    One of our web applications is a page that takes in a serial number and various information is returned and displayed to the user. The serial is passed via AJAX, and based on the response, one of the following can happen - An error message is shown A new form replaces the previous form Now, the way I am handling this is to use jQuery to destroy (using $.remove()) the table that displayed the initial serial form, then I'm appending another html table that contains another form. Right now I am including that additional form as part of the html source, and just setting it to display:none, then using jQuery to show it when appropriate. However, I don't like this approach because if someone views source on the page, they can see that table html code that is not being displayed. My next thought would be to use AJAX to read in another HTML file, and append it that way. However, I am trying to keep down the number of files this project uses, and since most pages in our project will use AJAX, I could see a case where there are multiple files containing HTML snippets - and that feels sloppy to me. What is the best way to handle a case where multiple html elements are being shown and removed with jQuery?

  • Binding elements when modal window loads from AJAX (jQuery)

    - by thinkswan
    I'd like to set up a drag'n'drop list inside a modal window. The window's content is loaded via an AJAX call, so I believe I need to use jQuery's .live() method. Here is my current code: $('#cboxLoadedContent').live('load', function() { // Event for sortable page lists $('ul#pageList').sortable(); }); How can I set up bindings when the modal window loads? The modal window comes from the colorbox plugin. Note: I'm guessing that 'load' is not the right event to use, because if I throw a simple alert() in there, it doesn't even show up when the window loads.

  • JQuery Ajax help

    - by mtwallet
    Hi. I am creating a portfolio page for m personal site. I have a slider with a bunch of anchors that relate to projects I have worked on, each one contains a client logo that when clicked should load a html page into a div on the same page. I would like to use JQuery to achieve this my question is which method would I use load() or ajax(). This is not something I have done before so I'm a little confused what the difference is. Also if it makes any difference to my question I will be making the site content managed with MODX very soon. Many thanks in advance.

  • How to get jQuery to work with Prototype

    - by thinkfuture
    Ok so here is the situation. Been pulling my hair out on this one. I'm a noob at this. Only been using rails for about 6 weeks. I'm using the standard setup package, and my code leverages prototype helpers heavily. Like I said, noob ;) So I'm trying to put in some jQuery effects, like PrettyPhoto. But what happens is that when the page is first loaded, PrettyPhoto works great. However, once someone uses a Prototype helper, like a link created with link_to_remote, Prettyphoto stops working. I've tried jRails, all of the fixes proposed on the JQuery site to stop conflicts... http://docs.jquery.com/Using_jQuery_with_Other_Libraries ...even done some crazy things likes renaming all of the $ in prototype.js to $$$ to no avail. Either the prototype helpers break, or jQuery breaks. Seems nothing I do can get these to work together. Any ideas? Here is part of my application.html.erb <%= javascript_include_tag 'application' %> <%= javascript_include_tag 'tooltip' %> <%= javascript_include_tag 'jquery' %> <%= javascript_include_tag 'jquery-ui' %> <%= javascript_include_tag "jquery.prettyPhoto" %> <%= javascript_include_tag 'prototype' %> <%= javascript_include_tag 'scriptalicious' %> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> jQuery(document).ready( function() { jQuery("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").prettyPhoto(); }); </script> If I put prototype before jquery, the prototype helpers don't work If I put the noconflict clause in, neither works. Thanks in advance! Chris BTW: when I try this, from the jQuery site: <script> jQuery.noConflict(); // Use jQuery via jQuery(...) jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery("div").hide(); }); // Use Prototype with $(...), etc. $('someid').hide(); </script> my page disappears!

  • jQuery - want to get input value for submit but it gets one and repeats

    - by jquery n00b
    I'm trying to replace all submit buttons with a span so cufon will work. The input still needs to be there so have done some css to hide it and overlay to span on top. My issue is getting the value from the input tag is proving quite diffcult. The code below gets the first input value (being 'search' from the search box at the top of the page, and then puts that value into all the spans, even for buttons that have different values (eg: send). This is a .NET page so the whole page is wrapped in one form tag. Any help is greatly appreciated. jQUERY: jQuery(document).ready( function() { jQuery(".button-wrap input.button").each(function() { var values = jQuery(".button-wrap input").attr('value'); jQuery(this).before("<span class='input-replacer'>" +values+ "</span>"); });

  • jQuery timer, ajax, and "nice time"

    - by Mil
    So for this is what I've got: $(document).ready(function () { $("#div p").load("/update/temp.php"); function addOne() { var number = parseInt($("#div p").html()); return number + 1; } setInterval(function () { $("#div p").text(addOne()); }, 1000); setInterval(function () { $("#geupdate p").load("/update/temp.php");} ,10000); }); So this grabs a a UNIX timestamp from temp.php and puts into into #div p, and then adds 1 to it every second, and then every 10 seconds it will check the original file to keep it up to speed. My problem is that I need to format this UNIX timestamp into a format such as "1 day 3 hours 56 minutes and 3 seconds ago", while also doing all the incrementation and ajax calls. I'm not very experienced with jquery/javascript, so I might be missing something basic.

  • Active Index is not being persisted in jQuery accordion change event

    - by Xaisoft
    I have an asp.net aspx page and on that page I have a hidden input field with and id of paneIndex. However, when I load the page, the alert shows index 1 which is correct on the first load, but if I open up pane 3 for example, the alert shows 1 still. Am I doing something wrong? In a Custom.js file, I have the following code: $(document).ready(function() { $("#accordion").accordion({ active: 1, collapsible: true, autoHeight: false, change: function(event, ui) { var activeIndex = $("#accordion").accordion('option', 'active'); $("#paneIndex").val(activeIndex); //alert(activeIndex); } }); }); In my server side button click, I have the following code: string activeIndex = Request.Form["paneIndex"]; string script = string.Format(@"<script type=""text/javascript"">var paneIndex = {0};</script>", activeIndex); if(!ClientScript.IsStartupScriptRegistered("JSScript")) ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(),"JSScript", script);

  • Calling a MVC2 partial view using jquery returns empty string problem

    - by Jason
    I have an issue where I have a partial view that returns some HTML to be displayed. Its called when something is clicked on the page using jquery. The problem is that no matter how I call it, i get back an empty string even though it reports success. This is happening to me using Chrome, going against my local machine. My controller looks like this: public ActionResult MyPartialView() { return PartialView(model); } I have tried jquery using .get(), .post() and .load() and all have the same results. Here is an example using .post(): $.post(url, function (data) { alert(data); }); The result always comes back as an empty string. I can navigate to the partial view in the browser manually and i get back the desired HTML. The URL I am using to call it I resolved fully so it looks like "http://localhost/controller/mypartialview" rather than using the relative path of "/controller/mypartialview" which I thought was the original problem. Any idea what may cause this?

  • 2 jQuery plugins don't seem to work together

    - by Carbonara
    I have 2 plugins, amongst several others, that are loaded together. All of them work together correctly expect 2. By commenting out bits of code etc I've narrowed it down to the two plugins. These are the 2 plugins in question jQuery Tools tabs and NewsTicker I have tried calling them as follows as per their instructions $(document).ready(function(){ $().newsTicker({ newsList: "#news", startDelay: 10, placeHolder1: " []" }); $("ul.tabs").tabs("div.panes > div"); }); With the calls this way around the ticker works but the tabs do not. If I swap the calls round then the tabs work but the ticker does not. Both plugins work if the other call is commented out. Any ideas what could be wrong here or could something in the code of one of the plugins be affecting the other. Both plugins work ok when several other plugins are also called in the same script. I'm just wondering if I'm calling them in the wrong way or something being fairly new to jQuery

  • Validation Summary with JQuery in MVC 2

    - by Nigel Sampson
    I'm trying to get client validation working on my asp.net mvc 2 web application (Visual Studio 2010). The client side validation IS working. However the validation summary is not. I'm including the following scripts <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/jquery.validate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../content/scripts/MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js"></script> Have this before this form is started <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> and inside the form is <%: Html.ValidationSummary("There are some errors to fix.", new { @class = "warning_box" })%> <p> <%: Html.LabelFor(m => m.Name) %><br /> <%: Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Name) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.Name, "*") %> </p> I have that latest version of MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js from the MvcFutures download, but it doesn't look like it supports Validation Summary. I've tried correcting this by setting extra options such as errorContainer and errorLabelContainer, but it looks like there's some more underlying issues with it. Is there an updated / better version of this file around?
