  • WCF SERVICE gives us faulted response

    My service is hosted on IIS7, windows 2008 server with sql server2008 express. I am getting following error when the process takes more than 2 minutes i got this response, i m unable to find out either it is due to sql server time out or wcf time out. my sql server process is also took long. An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://REMOTE/SynchronizationService_test/SyncService.svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details.

    I'm trying to put together a very simple REST-style interface for communicating with our partners. An example object in the API is a partner, which we'd like to have serialized like this: <partner> <id>ID</id> <name>NAME</name> </partner> This is fairly simply to achieve using the .NET 4.0 WCF REST template if we simply declare a partner class as: public class Partner { public int Id {get; set;} public string Name {get; set;} } But when I use the Entity Framework to define and store Partner objects, the resulting serialization looks something like this: <Partner p1:Id="NCNameString" p1:Ref="NCNameString" xmlns:p1="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/" xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/TheTradeDesk.AdPlatform.Provisioning"> <EntityKey p1:Id="NCNameString" p1:Ref="NCNameString" xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/System.Data.Objects.DataClasses"> <EntityContainerName xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/System.Data">String content</EntityContainerName> <EntityKeyValues xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/System.Data"> ...   • Get controller method caller (3rd party webservice)

    Is it possible to retrieve the URL of a 3rd party webservice calling my controller method? Things like Request.Current.Url refer to my own URL (/someController/someAction/). The 3rd party webservice is sending HTTP POST data to my /someController/someAction and I wish to send back a HTTP POST message to the caller of the method, the 3rd party webservice, without using return Content["some response"] which will force me to exit the method. Since the answer is plain text I would like to send it using HTTP Post. What I actually try to do is respond to the calling webservice without exiting my method (return Content() will exit) so I can call other methods to process the data send to me by the webservice. I want to first tell the webservice I received their stuff and than process, in this way when a processing error occurs the webservice at least will not resend old data. Is there another way to do this than building your own HTTP post?

If I remove the params var, it runs a GET Request...     I am working on an application where the app user can create / delete queues . Also , he would be able to move a message from 1 queue to another, delete a message , rearrange the messages in the queue based on some filter. One possible design is to use activemq for queues and apache camel for various other operations having integrated with Grails. But I am not sure whether ActiveMQ allows creation /deleltion queues at runtime. Would this be a good choice to implement such system?

  • Linux reboot() system call: why it calls do_exit(0) after kernel_halt()?

    This is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/a/13413099/1284631 Now, the question is: Why the reboot() system call, when called with LINUX_REBOOT_CMD_HALT parameter (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/kernel/sys.c#L480) is calling do_exit(0) after having already called kernel_halt(), as calling kernel_halt() boils down to calling stop_this_cpu() (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/arch/x86/kernel/process.c#L519), as part of native_machine_halt() (see here: http://lxr.linux.no/linux+v3.6.6/arch/x86/kernel/reboot.c#L680). Or, it seems to me that stop_this_cpu() is never returning (it ends with an infinite loop). So, it is do_exit(0) called just in case that kernel_halt() doesn't do its job and it return? Why not panic() directly instead, then?

    I'm trying to set up Drupal multisite in a shared hosting environment. The main site's location looks like http://www.mysite.com/foo/bar/ and my goal is to create another site using the same database at http://www.mysite.com/foo/bar/drupal2. I've created a new folder in the sites directory called www.mysite.com.foo.bar.drupal2 and added the default.settings.php and settings.php files, configured correctly for the environment, and I've set up a symlink from the main site's root to the subdirectory, with this command: ln -s . drupal2 The problem is that when I go to http://www.mysite.com/foo/bar/drupal2, I just get the main site at http://www.mysite.com without triggering the installer. What do I need to change to get the multisite working?

I was expecting one of the url will throw timeout error after 3 second since another url lock it atleast for 10 seconds due to thread sleep. Surprisingly I do not get any timeout error rather second page call run after 10 seconds as first call finish execution. But I am appending some url parameter (e.g. http://localhost.local/test.cfm?q=1) will throw error. Also I am calling same url in different browser then one of the call will throw timeout issue. Is lock based on session and url? Say I have a web method named foo in TestService, how do I make an ajax call to it? I tried accessing the method via http://127.0.0.1:8080/IM/TestService/foo, but I'm getting an HTTP Status 404.
