  • Saving gzipped string into Sqlite3 via Rails throws unrecognized token error

    Hi, I'm using rails 2.3 and I'm trying to compress (gzip) text that I'd like to save using ActiveRecord into a sqlite database. However, the compressed text isn't being saved b/c I get this type of error: SQLite3::SQLException: unrecognized token: "'x##U?#7 Any thoughts on what I can do to avoid this error? should I compress the text in some other fashion? should I save the data using some other method(s)?     I wouldn't ask if i wasn't sure that i have 100% no idea why this isn't working, so, in PHP i'm simply trying to update a value in the MySQL database: The field im updating - Name: read - Type: tinyint - Length: 1 Here is the PHP code: do_SQL("UPDATE messages SET read=1 WHERE id='".$id."'"); The do_SQL function is working for everything else, so it's something wrong with this statement. How would you handle this so it is culture independent?

    I have the following tables in a database (i'll only list the important attributes): Person(ssn,countryofbirth) Parents(ssn,fatherbirthcountry) Employment(ssn, companyID) Company(companyID, name) My task is this: given fatherbirthcountry as input, output the names of companies where persons work whose countryofbirth match the fatherbirthcountry input. I pretend that the fatherbirthcountry is Mexico and do this: SELECT name FROM Company WHERE companyid = (SELECT companyid FROM Employment WHERE ssn = (SELECT ssn FROM Person WHERE countryofbirth = 'Mexico'); but it is giving me an error: >Scalar subquery is only allowed to return a single row. am I completely off track? I have text files with content like this: key1 = "This is a \"test\" text with escapes using '\\' characters"; key2 = 'It must work with \'single\' quotes and "double" quotes'; I need a regular expression which matches the values in the double-quotes (or single-quotes). This regular expression must support the escaped quotes and escaped backslashes. The regular expression must work with Java standard Pattern/Matcher classes.

    So I have a set up similar to this questions: Parent Child Setup Everything works great when saving the parent and the children. However, I seem to have a problem when selecting the children. I can't seem to get all the children with a specific parent.   • Modify Emdeded String in C# compiled exe

    I have an issue where I need to be able to have a compiled exe ( .net 3.5 c# ) that I will make copies of to distribute that will need to change a key for example before the exe is sent out. I cannot compile each time a new exe is needed. This is a thin client that will be used as part of a registration process. Is it possible to add a entry to a resource file with a blank value then when a request comes in have another application grab the blank default thin client, copy it, populate the blank value with the data needed. If yes how? If no do you have any ideas? I have been scratching my head for a few days now and the limitation as due to the boundaries I am required to work in. The other idea I has was to inject the value into a method, which I have no idea how I would even attempt that. Thanks.

    My server has been compromised recently. This morning, I have discovered that the intruder is injecting an iframe into each of my HTML pages. After testing, I have found out that the way he does that is by getting Apache (?) to replace every instance of <body> by <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> For example if I browse a file residing on the server consisting of: </body> </body> Then my browser sees a file consisting of: <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> <iframe link to malware></iframe></body> I have immediately stopped Apache to protect my visitors, but so far I have not been able to find what the intruder has changed on the server to perform the attack. I presume he has modified an Apache config file, but I have no idea which one. In particular, I have looked for recently modified files by time-stamp, but did not find anything noteworthy.
