  • PHP while loop, table row

    - by Elliott
    Hi, I'm trying to loop through a database and output data into a div, if there are 3 divs horizontally accross it will the start a new tr until it reaches another 3 etc. It is currently outputted like : [] [] [] [] [] [] Currently I have it working when it reaches 3 it starts a new row, but I don't know how I can only echo a new tr once? As it creates a new table row each time. echo '<table><tr>'; while ($result) { $i ++; if ($i&3) { echo '<td> <div>Row Data</div> </td>'; } else { echo '<tr> <td> <div>Row Data</div> </td></tr>'; } } echo '</tr></table>'; The $result variable is the recordset from my sql query, everything works fine I just don't know how to only create a new table row once? Thanks

  • PHP strtotime() setting date to default

    - by Paddyd
    I have a script which is reading values from an excel sheet and inserting them into an sql table. My problem is when the script reads in some of the date fields it is setting them to a default value : 1970-01-01 01:00:00 I have noticed that this is happening when it comes across a date where the 'day' is greater than 12 : 13/05/2012 18:52:33 (dd-mm-yyyy hh-mm-ss) I thought this may be due to the script thinking that this is the month field (i.e american format) and it sees it as an invalid value, so I set the default timezone to my own hoping it may resolve the problem but it made no difference. date_default_timezone_set('Europe/Dublin'); Here is an example of what my code is doing: Excel field value : 01/05/2012 18:32:45 Script: $start_time = $data->val($x,5); echo $start_time = date("Y-m-d H:i:s", strtotime($start_time)); Output: 2012-01-05 18:32:45 This is the exact format I am looking for (except for the fact that the day and month fields are switched around i.e american date format) but it doesnt work for the type of dates I mentioned above.

  • PHP get values from SimpleXMLElement array

    - by seanp2k
    I have this: [1]=> object(SimpleXMLElement)#6 (1) { ["@attributes"]=> array(14) { ["name"]=> string(5) "MySQL" ["acknowledged"]=> string(1) "1" ["comments"]=> string(1) "1" ["current_check_attempt"]=> string(1) "1" ["downtime"]=> string(1) "0" ["last_check"]=> string(19) "2010-05-01 17:57:00" ["markdown_filter"]=> string(1) "0" ["max_check_attempts"]=> string(1) "3" ["output"]=> string(42) "CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds" ["perfdata_available"]=> string(1) "1" ["service_object_id"]=> string(3) "580" ["state"]=> string(8) "critical" ["state_duration"]=> string(6) "759439" ["unhandled"]=> string(1) "0" } } (I used var_dump($child) to generate that) How do I get the 'name' attribute out of there as a string? Here is my code: $xml = simplexml_load_string($results); foreach($xml->data->list as $child) { var_dump($child); echo $child->getName() . ": " . $child->name . "<br />"; }

  • PHP Array to CSV

    - by JohnnyFaldo
    I'm trying to convert an array of products into a CSV file, but it doesn't seem to be going to plan. The CSV file is one long line, here is my code: for($i=0;$i<count($prods);$i++) { $sql = "SELECT * FROM products WHERE id = '".$prods[$i]."'"; $result = $mysqli->query($sql); $info = $result->fetch_array(); } $header = ''; for($i=0;$i<count($info);$i++) { $row = $info[$i]; $line = ''; for($b=0;$b<count($row);$b++) { $value = $row[$b]; if ( ( !isset( $value ) ) || ( $value == "" ) ) { $value = "\t"; } else { $value = str_replace( '"' , '""' , $value ); $value = '"' . $value . '"' . "\t"; } $line .= $value; } $data .= trim( $line ) . "\n"; } $data = str_replace( "\r" , "" , $data ); if ( $data == "" ) { $data = "\n(0) Records Found!\n"; } header("Content-type: application/octet-stream"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=your_desired_name.xls"); header("Pragma: no-cache"); header("Expires: 0"); print "$data"; Also, the header doesn't force a download. I've been copy and pasting the output and saving as .csv

  • php:: apply backticks to first word in sentence

    - by Hailwood
    Hi guys, basically what I am trying to do is, I have an array that looks something like this: array( array( 'select' =>'first string', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'second', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'the third string', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'fourth string', 'escape' => false ), ) I am looping over it and I want to end up with this output array( array( 'select' =>'`first` string', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'`second`', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'`the` third string', 'escape' => true ), array( 'select' =>'fourth string', 'escape' => false ), ) so basic rules are backticks are only applied if escape is true backticks are only applied to the first word in a sentence if there is only one word backticks are applied to the word My plan was to use if($item['escape']) { $pos = (strpos($item['select'], ' ') === false ? strlen($item['select']) : strpos($item['select'], ' ')); $item['select'] = '`' . substr($item['select'], 0, $pos) . '`' . substr($item['select'], $pos, strlen($item['select'])); } but the $item['select'] = line seems rather long winded, is there a better way to write it?

  • PHP : flatten array - fastest way?

    - by Industrial
    Is there any fast way to flatten an array and select subkeys ('key'&'value' in this case) without running a foreach loop, or is the foreach always the fastest way? Array ( [0] => Array ( [key] => string [value] => a simple string [cas] => 0 ) [1] => Array ( [key] => int [value] => 99 [cas] => 0 ) [2] => Array ( [key] => array [value] => Array ( [0] => 11 [1] => 12 ) [cas] => 0 ) ) To: Array ( [int] => 99 [string] => a simple string [array] => Array ( [0] => 11 [1] => 12 ) )

  • PHP 1-liner each() with mysql_fetch_assoc()

    - by MVC You Know Me
    Hey All. Trying to create a 1-liner to loop through a mysql result set. Example: $sql = "SELECT uid, role FROM usr WHERE uid = '$this-uid'"; $r = db::q($sql); if($r-rows()) { $q = mysql_fetch_assoc($r-result); while(list($k, $v) = each($q)) { // would like to omit line above and consolidate here $_SESSION['usr'][$k] = $this->$k = $v; } } problem is that consolidating while loop like so: while(list($k, $v) = each(mysql_fetch_assoc($r-result)) returns an error a la each() not getting object or array, even though of course it is. I think the problem is a casting issue, but it does not seem you can do: each( (array) mysql_fetch_assoc($r-result)) Any ideas? I like to code as tersely as possible, and having "$q = mysql_fetch_assoc($r-result)" everywhere will annoy me, does already. Keep posted... Thanks!

  • PHP --> SQL Server + Excel file upload from a specific row

    - by lucky
    I have a requirement in which, i need to upload an excel file into SQL Server database. It is working well till this point. But sometimes i am getting excel file in such a way, that the first 2 rows and columns are empty rows. That is not even fixed every time. so the format of the table after upload is not as expected. It is assigning F1, F2 as column names for the table in SQL Server. It varies from file to file. I want to program it in such away so that the user can enter the row number and the column number from where the actual data is starting. So that while upload it should from line 3 and column 2. I don't know how to specify that row and column while uploading. Please help me to solve the same.

  • PHP SDK Requires two logins...doesn't recognize first

    - by Jay Konieczny
    I am using the following code to authenticate whether users are logged in or not. While users can log in, they have to click the login button twice. Additionally, sometimes even after they click the log-in button twice, my "user info" part of the page (earlier in the page than the content) shows them as logged out while the actual page shows them as logged in. Here is the code. Could someone suggest a better way of handling log-ins? function isLoggedIn($facebook) { if (isset($facebook) and $facebook->getUser() != 0) { // UserID exists, but user may still not be logged in. Let's check: try { $facebook->api('/me', 'GET'); // If this succeeds, then they are logged in. return true; } catch(FacebookApiException $e) { // Some kind of error, so not logged in. if(session_id() === '') session_destroy(); return false; } } else { if(session_id() === '') session_destroy(); return false; } } Thanks!

  • PHP - ftp_get only works once

    - by William
    I'm connecting to an ftp server that I have no control over, and I'm pretty sure is using something old and outdated due to other issues I've run into. I'm simply using this code in a loop to get all the files in a directory. ftp_put($this->conn_id, $remote, $local, FTP_ASCII); The first time all goes well, but after that I get this error thrown for each file I try to get: "There is already an active transaction" I've tried both passive & active with no luck. It's the exact same code I use to connect to other FTP servers and get files with no problem. Any ideas? I suppose my last resort could be disconnecting and reconnecting for each file, but that seems like a huge waste.

  • PHP array minor problem

    - by Sennheiser
    I'm really not sure how to explain this. It's so simple I can't fathom why it's not working. I have a loop. It puts a bunch of strings into an array. If I fill a single variable with any given string, it will output it perfectly. But filling an array with the strings will make it give me the dreaded: Array Array Array Array Array Array Array Array Note: my strings are not all 'Array'. The way I loop is: while(...) { $arr[] = $resultFromLoop; } Here is my var_dump. array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(5) "magic" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(4) "nunu" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(5) "books" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(0) "" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(3) "zzz" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(4) "grey" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(3) "new" } array(1) { ["tagName"]=> string(6) "flight" }

  • "Distance" between colours in PHP

    - by Phil
    I'm looking for a function that can accurately represent the distance between two colours as a number or something. For example I am looking to have an array of HEX values or RGB arrays and I want to find the most similar colour in the array for a given colour eg. I pass a function a RGB value and the 'closest' colour in the array is returned

    How can I sort this array by the value of the "order" key? Even though the values are currently sequential, they will not always be.
