• Hibernate Many-To-One Foreign Key Default 0

  I have a table where the the parent object has an optional many-to-one relationship. The problem is that the table is setup to default the fkey column to 0. When selecting, using fetch="join", etc-- the default of 0 on the fkey is being used to try over and over to select from another table for the ID 0. Of course this doesn't exist, but how can I tell Hibernate to treat a value of 0 to be the same as NULL-- to not cycle through 20+ times in fetching a relationship which doesn't exist? <many-to-one name="device" lazy="false" class="Device" not-null="true" access="field" cascade="none" not-found="ignore"> <column name="DEVICEID" default="0" not-null="false"/>

• Hiding result sets from multiple selects in a stored procedure

  I have a stored procedure that retrieves SQL queries as text and executes the statements using sp_executesql. Each of the dynamic queries is a count query in that it only returns the number of records found (select COUNT(id) from...). I am looping through a set of SQL queries stored as text and building a table variable out of the results. At the end, I am selecting all the results from the table variable as the result set that I want returned from the stored procedure. However, when I execute the stored procedure, I am naturally getting multiple result sets (one for each of the dynamic queries and one for the final select.) Is there any way I can suppress the results of a select statement executed through sp_executesql? I have found answers that reference storing the results in a temp table, but I don't have control of the query text that I am running so I can't change it to select into anything. Please help.   I've got a script that is a notify_url from paypal that is supposed to update multiple tables in my database using the following code: //update first table $this-db-where('someid', $somid); $this-db-update('table', $data); ///update second table $this-db-where('somesecondid', $somesecondid) $this-db-update('anothertable', $data2); Then I get the following error: Unknown column 'somesecondid' in 'where clause' UPDATE anothertable SET avail = 0 WHERE someid = '13' AND somesecondid = '199' So codeigniter is combining those where clauses into a single query. Is there a way to unset the first one so it only has "UPDATE anothertable SET avail=0 WHERE somesecondid = 199" ? Thanks!

  I'm developing a cube in SSAS and attempting to model the following relationships: Many Facts to 1 Customer Many Customers to Many Sales Reps Many Sales Reps (Subordinates) to Sales Reps (Managers) Each M2M relationship is facilitated by a bridge table which also acts as a fact table in the cube I have most of this working. I can slice Facts by Customer and by Sales Rep (Subordinate), but when I add Sales Rep (Manager) to the query it appears to return every subordinate/manager combination regardless of whether or not that relationship exists in the bridge table. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

  I'm just learning about creating custom ribbons in Access 2010, but I'm running into an issue. The Access application I'm working with is connected to a SQL Server backend (connected, not just linked tables). As I understand it, the USysRibbons table needs to exist in the Access application itself, and not in a connected SQL Server. How does one go about creating a table in an Access application that is already linked to a SQL Server? I tried creating the table in a blank database and then importing it into the Access application without any luck.

So I'm trying to get the salesID from my table "sales" that haven't got any rows in the sales_item table. • Standard procedure for confirming email for a web app

  Hi! I have created a web app that is almost finished. I need it to confirm new emails. I just want to know if the these are the right procedures for that, because I'm not familiar with this. I create a new table called "confirmEmails" with only one column with uniqueId. A unique Id is created with PHP: uniqueid() which is created directly after a user hit the submit button. And the php script stores it on the table. An email is sent together with a link www.domain.com/confirmEmail.php?uniqueId=kushfpuhrufhufhfhuhfheriufhehu. I have an another php script called confirmEmail.php that gets the value if uniqueId through the link with $_GET['uniqueId'];(maybe I shall use post instead her). And now it stores the new email in table called user Is it right procedures? Pls give me some feedback!

What I'd like to do is only select one city from each area code and delete any extra cities from duplicate area codes. What would be the best query to accomplish this? We have implemented the syn with SQL Server internal change tracking and over WCF using MS Sync Framework (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sync/default.aspx) All of our tables have primary key as integer, we cannot move to GUID. So as you are thinking we will have identity crises between applications. So we decided to go with the way Merge replication does(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa179416(SQL.80).aspx) partition the primary key range. Below is the example scenario - Server Table A - ID Range - 0 to 100 Client 1 Table A - ID Range - 101 to 200 Client 2 Table A - ID Range - 201 to 300 how to implement this ? i know we can use BCC CHECKIDENT (yourtable, reseed, value) CHECK (([ID]<=(100))) but this does not solve the issue.... Merge replication provides an option of "Not for replication"(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa237102(SQL.80).aspx) to achieve insert form clients and still maintain the set range.. can i use that somehow here? please help...

  I have a table 'products' => ('product_id', 'name', 'description') and a table 'product_price' => ('product_price_id', 'product_id', 'price', 'date_updated') I want to perform a query something like SELECT `p`.*, `pp`.`price` FROM `products` `p` LEFT JOIN `product_price` `pp` ON `pp`.`product_id` = `p`.`product_id` GROUP BY `p`.`product_id` ORDER BY `pp`.`date_updated` DESC As you can probably guess the price changes often and I need to pull out the latest one. The trouble is I cannot work out how to order the LEFT JOINed table. I tried using some of the GROUP BY functions like MAX() but that would only pull out the column not the row. Thanks.

• Can I force MySQL to output results before query is completed?

  I have a large MySQL table (about 750 million rows) and I just want to extract a couple of columns. SELECT id, delid FROM tbl_name; No joins or selection criteria or anything. There is an index on both fields (separately). In principle, it could just start reading the table and spitting out the values immediately, but in practice the whole system just chews up memory and basically grinds to a halt. It seems like the entire query is being executed and the output stored somewhere before ANY output is produced... I've searched on unbuffering, turning off caches etc, but just cannot find the answer. (mysqldump is almost what I want except it dumps the whole table - but at least it just starts producing output immediately)

  I'm trying to solve this newbie puzzle: I've created this function: def bucket_loop(htable, key): bucket = hashtable_get_bucket(htable, key) for entry in bucket: if entry[0] == key: return entry[1] else: return None And I have to call it in two other functions (bellow) in the following way: to change the value of the element entry[1] or to append to this list (entry) a new element. But I can't do that calling the function bucket_loop the way I did because "you can't assign to function call" (assigning to a function call is illegal in Python). • Show data relationship in gridview with dropdownlist or similar?

  I have data coming from two tables with a foreign key relationship - one User table containing users of the web application, and one Page table containing details about pages visited by each user. I would like to be able to view these data in a gridview or the like on a page. It's easy enough to just show the User table data like so (I'm using the Entity Framework and LINQ): UserDBEntities context = new UserDBEntities(); GridView1.DataSource = from user in context.UserSet select new { user.Ip, user.Count, user.Description, user.Referer }; GridView1.DataBind(); But how can I show the Page details? I'm not bent on any particular way of showing it, but the only idea I've been able to come up with is to have a dropdown list for each user in a column. But I can't figure out how to get the page data into such a dropdown list. The tables are associated with the primary/foreign key UserID. Any ideas would be welcome (dropdownlist solution or other)!

• Transform LINQ Dataset into a Matrix for export

  Hi folks, I've got a data table with columns in which include Item, Category and Value (and others, but those are the only relevant ones for this problem) that I access via LINQ in a C# ASP.Net MVC app. I want to transform these into a matrix and output that as a CSV file to pull into Excel as matrix with the items down the side, the categories across the top and the values in the row cells. However, I don't know how many, or what, categories there will be in this table, nor will there always be a record for each item/category combination. I've written this by looping round, getting my "master category" list, then looking again for each item, filling in either blank or Value, depending on whether the item/category record exists, but as there are currently 27000 records in the table, this isn't as fast as I'd like. Is there a slicker and faster way I can do this, maybe via LINQ (firing into a quicker SQL statement so the DB server can do the leg-work), or will any method essentially come back to what I am doing? • Is there an ORM that allows a "plugin" to extend the database?

  So, I've been searching for the answer to this, but I can't find anything I have an Entity Framework Model (MyModel1) - for now, we'll say this contains a "Users" table It's part of a big app, that has a references to an "Addresses" project The addresses project contains an Entity Framework Model (MyModel2), this contains a Users table, and an Addresses table (pointing to the same database. The main app has a control that edits the user, and in that control it has an "addresses" control which actually exists in the "Addresses" project. To make this work, the User control passes the User object down to the addresses control, however, as the User that's been passed belongs to MyModel1 and not MyModel2, another User object has to be loaded up, then it can be used. This isn't ideal as I've had to load up the User twice. Is there a way of say, MyModel2 extending MyModel1, which effectively just adds a relationship to "User". Or is there an ORM that would handle this better? Or even a design pattern that would handle this better?

• Form submission and hyperlinks using GET and POST

  I have a search resource, the user can perform searches by filling out a form and submitting it, the create action is called, the Search is saved, the show action is called, and the results are displayed. This all happens with the default POST, and all works fine. The user may want to save his search in the saved_search table (i don't use the Search table for this purpose as this table stores all searches for the purpose of compiling statistics, and gets cleared on a regular basis). Once the Search is saved, it can be re-run by clicking a hyperlink, this is where i start to get problems. I see no way of getting my hyperlink to run the create action of Search, with a POST request, and the necessary data. I then decided to try to get both form submission and the hyperlink to perform a search using a GET request, i was unable to get form_for to run my Search create action using a GET request, it always seems to get routed to my index action. Can someone suggest a good restful solution to this problem please. Many thanks

  I'm using SQLAlchemy and I can create tables that I have defined in /model/__init__.py but I have defined my classes, tables and their mappings in other files found in the /model directory. For example I have a profile class and a profile table which are defined and mapped in /model/profile.py To create the tables I run: paster setup-app development.ini But my problem is that the tables that I have defined in /model/__init__.py are created properly but the table definitions found in /model/profile.py are not created. How can I execute the table definitions found in the /model/profile.py so that all my tables can be created? Thanks for the help!
