    - by Anirudh Goel

  • Are vb.net eventArgs maintained at a "system" level?

    - by GregH
I have a custom developed control I am using that somebody else wrote. For some reason, when the control was written, they did not write an event handler for the "mouseDown" event so when I mouseDown on the control, no event is fired. What I am basically trying to do is capture which mouse button (left or right) is pressed when the control is clicked on. Is there any sort of system level objects that maintain system state (including which mouse buttons are currently being pressed regardless of the control being clicked upon?)

  • Problem with Landscape and Portrait view in a TabBar Application

    - by JoshD
I have an TabBar app that I would like to be in landscape and portrait. The issue is when I go to tab 2 make a selection from my table then select tab 1 and rotate the device, then select tab 2 again the content does not know that the device rotated and will not display my custom orientated content correctly. I am trying to write a priovate method that tells the view what orientation it is currently in. IN viewDidLoad I am assuming it is in portrait but in shouldAutoRotate I have it looking in the private method for the correct alignment of the content. Please Help!! Here is my code: #import "DetailViewController.h" #import "ScheduleTableViewController.h" #import "BrightcoveDemoAppDelegate.h" #import "Constants.h" @implementation DetailViewController @synthesize CurrentLevel, CurrentTitle, tableDataSource, logoName, showDescription, showDescriptionInfo, showTime, showTimeInfo, tableBG; - (void)layoutSubviews { showLogo.frame = CGRectMake(40, 20, 187, 101); showDescription.frame = CGRectMake(85, 140, 330, 65); showTime.frame = CGRectMake(130, 10, 149, 119); tableBG.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 480, 320); } /* // The designated initializer. Override if you create the controller programmatically and want to perform customization that is not appropriate for viewDidLoad. - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) { // Custom initialization } return self; } */ /* // Implement loadView to create a view hierarchy programmatically, without using a nib. - (void)loadView { } */ // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.navigationItem.title = CurrentTitle; [showDescription setEditable:NO]; //show the description showDescription.text = showDescriptionInfo; showTime.text = showTimeInfo; NSString *Path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; NSString *ImagePath = [Path stringByAppendingPathComponent:logoName]; UIImage *tempImg = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:ImagePath]; [showLogo setImage:tempImg]; [tempImg release]; [self masterView]; } - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } - (void)willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration { isLandscape = UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape(toInterfaceOrientation); if(isLandscape = YES){ [self layoutSubviews]; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • Difficulty adding widgets to django form.

    - by codingJoe
I have a django app that tracks activities that can benefit a classroom. Using the django examples, I was able to build a form to enter this data. But when I try to add widgets to that form, things get tricky. What I want is a calendar widget that lets the user enter the 'activity_date' field using a widget. If I use Admin interface. The AdminDateWidget works fine. however. This particular user isn't allowed access to the admin interface so I need a different way to present this widget. Also I couldn't figure out how to make the bring the admin widget over into non-admin pages. So I tried a custom widget. This is the first custom widget I've built, so I'm not quite sure what is supposed to be going on here. Any Expert Advice? How do I get my date widget to work? # The Model class Activity(models.Model): activity_date = models.DateField() activity_type = models.CharField(max_length=50, choices=ACTIVITY_TYPES) activity_description = models.CharField(max_length=200) activity_duration= models.DecimalField(decimal_places=2, max_digits=4) est_attendance = models.IntegerField("Estimated attendance") # The Form class ActivityForm(forms.ModelForm): # The following line causes lockup if enabled. # With the DateTimeWidget removed, the form functions correctly except that there is no widget. #activity_date = forms.DateField(label=_('Date'), widget=DateTimeWidget) ##!!! Point of Error !!! class Meta: model = Activity fields = ('activity_date', 'activity_type', 'activity_description', 'activity_duration', 'est_attendance') def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): super(ActivityForm, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) instance = getattr(self, 'instance', None) edit_aid = kwargs.get('edit_aid', False) # On a different approach, the following also didn't work. #self.fields['activity_date'].widget = widgets.AdminDateWidget() # The Widget # Example referenced: http://djangosnippets.org/snippets/391/ calbtn = u""" <button id="calendar-trigger">...</button> <img src="%s/site_media/images/icon_calendar.gif" alt="calendar" id="%s_btn" style="cursor: pointer; border: 1px solid #8888aa;" title="Select date and time" onmouseover="this.style.background='#444444';" onmouseout="this.style.background=''" /> <script type="text/javascript"> Calendar.setup({ trigger : "calendar-trigger", inputField : "%s" }); </script>""" class DateTimeWidget(forms.widgets.TextInput): dformat = '%Y-%m-%d %H:%M' def render(self, name, value, attrs=None): print "DTWgt render name=%s, value=%s" % name, value if value is None: value = '' final_attrs = self.build_attrs(attrs, type=self.input_type, name=name) if value != '': try: final_attrs['value'] = \ force_unicode(value.strftime(self.dformat)) except: final_attrs['value'] = \ force_unicode(value) if not final_attrs.has_key('id'): final_attrs['id'] = u'%s_id' % (name) id = final_attrs['id'] jsdformat = self.dformat #.replace('%', '%%') cal = calbtn % (settings.MEDIA_URL, id, id, jsdformat, id) a = u'<input%s />%s' % (forms.util.flatatt(final_attrs), cal) print "render return %s " % a return mark_safe(a) def value_from_datadict(self, data, files, name): print "DTWgt value_from_datadict" dtf = forms.fields.DEFAULT_DATETIME_INPUT_FORMATS empty_values = forms.fields.EMPTY_VALUES value = data.get(name, None) if value in empty_values: return None if isinstance(value, datetime.datetime): return value if isinstance(value, datetime.date): return datetime.datetime(value.year, value.month, value.day) for format in dtf: try: return datetime.datetime(*time.strptime(value, format)[:6]) except ValueError: continue return None

  • Dynamic inheritance/implementation in PHP 5.*

    - by Rolf
Hi everyone, I'm implementing a Logger, based on a XML declaration (path to class, method name, custom log message). There is also a Logger interface that defines the function __call, the latter logs what's needed and then relays the call to the target method. The only difficulty is to make each class, declared in the XML file, implement this interface with __call. So finally my question: is there a way to set at runtime the parent class or the implemented interface of another class ? Thanks in advance ! Rolf

  • tabexpansion doesn't fall through if overridden

    - by guillermooo
The tabexpansion function only works partially when I override it like so: function tabexpansion { param($line, $lastWord) if ($line -eq "hey ") { "you", "Joe" } } The custom completions work as expected, but now I only get the default autocomplete behavior for cmdlet names, not parameters. So New-TAB works fine, but New-Alias -TAB doesn't. How do I get the regular completions too after overriding tabexpansion?

  • Extending Enums, Overkill?

    - by CkH
I have an object that needs to be serialized to an EDI format. For this example we'll say it's a car. A car might not be the best example b/c options change over time, but for the real object the Enums will never change. I have many Enums like the following with custom attributes applied. public enum RoofStyle { [DisplayText("Glass Top")] [StringValue("GTR")] Glass, [DisplayText("Convertible Soft Top")] [StringValue("CST")] ConvertibleSoft, [DisplayText("Hard Top")] [StringValue("HT ")] HardTop, [DisplayText("Targa Top")] [StringValue("TT ")] Targa, } The Attributes are accessed via Extension methods: public static string GetStringValue(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the stringvalue attributes StringValueAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(StringValueAttribute), false) as StringValueAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].StringValue : null; } public static string GetDisplayText(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the DisplayText attributes DisplayTextAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(DisplayTextAttribute), false) as DisplayTextAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].DisplayText : value.ToString(); } There is a custom EDI serializer that serializes based on the StringValue attributes like so: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append(car.RoofStyle.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.TireSize.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.Model.GetStringValue()); ... There is another method that can get Enum Value from StringValue for Deserialization: car.RoofStyle = Enums.GetCode<RoofStyle>(EDIString.Substring(4, 3)) Defined as: public static class Enums { public static T GetCode<T>(string value) { foreach (object o in System.Enum.GetValues(typeof(T))) { if (((Enum)o).GetStringValue() == value.ToUpper()) return (T)o; } throw new ArgumentException("No code exists for type " + typeof(T).ToString() + " corresponding to value of " + value); } } And Finally, for the UI, the GetDisplayText() is used to show the user friendly text. What do you think? Overkill? Is there a better way? or Goldie Locks (just right)? Just want to get feedback before I intergrate it into my personal framework permanently. Thanks.

  • UITextView in UITableViewCell scrolling problems.

    - by jrtc27
Ok. I have made a custom cell for my table, and it contains a text view. When I have multiple lines in the text view, I can scroll up and down, but in doing this the table also scrolls. How can I stop this behaviour? If anyone needs parts of my code or further details, please just ask. I am more than willing. Thank you for your help

  • Why encodeXxx methods in UIComponent accept FacesContext parameter?

    - by Roman
I haven't ever before created custom component in jsf so I've noticed it only now that methods like encodeBegin(), encodeEnd() etc accept FacesContext parameter. FacesContext instance can usually be received with FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(). So, I wonder whether these methods have FacesContext parameter just for convenience or some different objects can be passed there (maybe from external resources..). If the latter is possible then could you give an example pls.

  • Not Seeing Ajax Requests In Firebug If Header Has Been Modified

    - by FluidFoundation
Hey braintrust, I'm making an ajax call using jQuery's library to an api, which requires a username and password encoded to base64 be added to the header. here's a basic example: $.ajax({ type: "GET", contentType: 'application/json', beforeSend:function(xhr){ xhr.setRequestHeader("Authentication", "Basic " + base64EncodedValue); } url: 'https://api.company.com/uri/', complete: function(result) { alert(result); } }); But when this fires off, I get a black alert box, so it doesn't appear as if something is coming back. There is no log in the Firebug console that a get ajax request was done. However, if I remove the beforeSend option, I do see the ajax request get logged, but the request gets back a 'not authorized', so it definitely hit the right place. Any ideas on why it's not showing up in Firebug so I can verify the headers are being sent out correctly?

  • How to parse an argument without a name with Ruby's optparse

    - by Leonid Shevtsov
I need to parse a command line like script.rb <mandatory filename> [options] with optparse. Sure I can write some custom code to handle the filename, then pass ARGV to optparse, but maybe there's a simpler way to do it? EDIT: there's another hacky way to parse such a command line, and that is pass '--mandatory-filename ' + ARGV to optparse, then handle the --mandatory-filename option.

  • Best XML Parser for RSS Feeds in Objective C ?

    - by Ansari
Hi all, I am going to develop an application which will parse the RSS feeds and display the items in my custom cell.(Cell containing the image, label, description, etc). The most popular way of parsing is using the NSXMLParser. But this is bit of a lengthy way. So is there any other way to do this. Or my question will be, which is the best xml parser for objective-c ?

  • Knowledge for writing a compiler for Win32

    - by saf
I have created an interpreter for my programming language (educational) and now I'd like to go one step further and create a compiler for it. I know that this is pretty hard work. What I already know is: I need to translate my input language to assembler A lot, isn't it? Now what I don't know is: What assembler do I need to create Win32 PE executables like, for example, Visual Studio does? What about file headers? I'd prefer not to use MASM but it seems like I'll have to. How to combine the assembler with my compiler?

  • Fixed header and footers gotchas and suggestion

    - by Salman A
I am planning to revamp my blog layout and this time I plan to have position: fixed headers and footers, both will be ~40px tall. The header will contain the logo and search buttons, the footer is going to contain lots of items such as subscribe buttons, related posts, jump to top/comments/bottom buttons and so on (list is not finalized). Before I jump into this I am wondering if someone can tell me if its a good idea or not. And I'd also appreciate if you can point out best-practices and gotchas. The footer will contain facebook chat style popup for related posts and some other features so I am also wondering if its going to work with this layout. There will be ads too so this leaves me worrying if its possible to have a the header laying on top of ads (specially flash ads). Links to sample layouts will be appreciated.

  • Seeking through a streamed MP3 file with HTML5 <audio> tag

    - by Kyle Slattery
Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I'm playing around with a node.js server that streams audio to a client, and I want to create an HTML5 player. Right now, I'm streaming the code from node using chunked encoding, and if you go directly to the URL, it works great. What I'd like to do is embed this using the HTML5 <audio> tag, like so: <audio src="http://server/stream?file=123"> where /stream is the endpoint for the node server to stream the MP3. The HTML5 player loads fine in Safari and Chrome, but it doesn't allow me to seek, and Safari even says it's a "Live Broadcast". In the headers of /stream, I include the file size and file type, and the response gets ended properly. Any thoughts on how I could get around this? I certainly could just send the whole file at once, but then the player would wait until the whole thing is downloaded--I'd rather stream it.

  • Using a constructor for return.

    - by Fecal Brunch
Hi, Just a quick question. I've written some code that returns a custom class Command, and the code I've written seems to work fine. I was wondering if there are any reasons that I shouldn't be doing it this way. It's something like this: Command Behavior::getCommand () { char input = 'x'; return Command (input, -1, -1); } Anyway, I read that constructors aren't meant to have a return value, but this works in g++. Thanks for any advice, Rhys

  • Render view as string then redirect.

    - by JohnRudolfLewis
In my ASP.NET MVC application, I would like my controller action to render a view to a string, send an email using that string as the body, then do a redirect. I've found several articles here on SO and elsewhere on how to render the view to a string. That part was easy. But when I attempt to perform the redirect, I get an HttpException: Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent. I've tried setting Response.Buffer and Response.BufferOutput to true, I've tried Response.Clear, nothing seems to work. Is it possible to render a view to a string, then do a redirect?

  • How to set DateTimePicker to auto update?

    - by Kavinda Gayashan
Hi, I've added a date time picker to a form. Initially its value is set to the DB sever date and time. Once its value is set, I need it to automatically update itself so that it always shows the DB server Date and time. How can I do this? Do I have to develop a custom control? Thanks in advance!
