  • Apache - slow response

    Hi, I have a Ubuntu 64-bit 10.04 LTS box running Virtualmin and Apache2, fully updated. It's an ESX VM with 2GB RAM. There are currently two sites (one CMS and one Wordpress 3) running on the server and both have the same issue. The request takes about 5s and then the page loads. This behaving seems to be the case with all page loads. I'm looking for advice on where to start troubleshooting. Thanks, Sean

    Hi, I'm looking for a way to display a message to the user if he leaves my site after only viewing one page. I found this (http://www.pgrs.net/2008/1/30/popup-when-leaving-website) clever solution, but it has a few flaws: staying_in_site = false; Event.observe(document.body, 'click', function(event) { if (Event.element(event).tagName == 'A') { staying_in_site = true; } }); window.onunload = popup; function popup() { if(staying_in_site) { return; } alert('I see you are leaving the site'); } It displays the message also when refreshing the page or using the back button. Do you know a better solution or how to fix it in the above code? I'm no javascript master :) My intention is to add the code on very specific landing pages only, and display the message when people leave the page without downloading my trial software or reading other pages on my site.

  • jQuery fadeout a div that's revealed by php and not Javascript?

    Seems like this might be easy, but from reading other SO answers there are a number of ways for it to possibly work: I have the "thanks" div below that shows when a php form is sucessfully submitted: <?php if(isset($emailSent) && $emailSent == true) { ?> <div class="thanks"></div> The page does not reload after the form is submitted; the php for the form is included in the page header, the php above is in <body>, and when the form is submitted, the "thanks" div appears. Question: How can the div be faded out (or simply removed) after a few seconds? Document ready doesn't seem like it would work because the page is not reloaded. Can jQuery detect the appearance of the div and then start the fadeout timer? If possible, I'd like to stay with the php form and not move to a jQuery form.

    Currently, I'm using a strategy found on many blog posts. Basically, the URL contains the page number (e.g. /Users/List/5 will give you the users on page 5 of your paged list of users). However, I'm not running into a situation where one page must list two separate paged lists. How do I go about doing this using ASP.NET MVC? Do I simply provide two url parameters (e.g. /Users/List?page1=1&page2=2)? Is there a better way by using partial views?

  • Using ASP.NET Redirect without string URL?

    For instance, what I have right now is the following: Page.Response.Redirect("Default.aspx", false); Needing to hardcode the string just seems odd to me. The Default.aspx page is already in my project. So is there a way to do the redirect something like the following: Page.Response.Redirect(Default.aspx, false); Where Default.aspx is just the web form. I'd think that this way it would be obvious if there was a problem such as you deleted the web form but didn't update the redirects. Is this possible? Or is there another way entirely I should be looking at this? I suppose I could do something with a static property on the class, but I am wondering if there is a built in thing for this?

    I have asked this question here about a Python command that fetches a URL of a web page and stores it in a variable. The first thing that I wanted to know then was whether or not the variable in this code contains the HTML code of a web-page: from google.appengine.api import urlfetch url = "http://www.google.com/" result = urlfetch.fetch(url) if result.status_code == 200: doSomethingWithResult(result.content) The answer that I received was "yes", i.e. the variable "result" in the code did contain the HTML code of a web page, and the programmer who was answering said that I needed to "check the Content-Type header and verify that it's either text/html or application/xhtml+xml". I've looked through several Python tutorials, but couldn't find anything about headers. So my question is where is this Content-Type header located and how can I check it? Could I send the content of that variable directly to my mailbox? Here is where I got this code. It's on Google App Engines.

  • Drupal: Two-way communication between unregistered customer and admin

    I need to setup a system where customers can choose to Request a Quote for a specific holiday package, where they will enter their personal details as well as their holiday requirements (number of rooms, etc.) and will then allow them to view a page which will have a threaded conversation between them and the admin (so the admin can reply to their quote request on the website). The problem is that most customers won't be registered when they want to request a quote, so I was thinking that the Request a Quote page could silently register the customer as a user (using their personal details) on the same page where it asks for their holiday requirements. The other option I can think of would be to not register them and just email them a unique URL where they can view their quote request and reply to the admin. Could you point me in the right direction on how to do either of those?

  • umbraco front end site stopped working suddenly

    Hi All, I created one webapplication and placed the default.aspx page in the root folder of the umbraco (i.e., httpdocs folder) and the application dll into the bin folder. I used the name “Default.aspx” as the other names are not working. Now the issue is all the pages are redirecting to the default.aspx page (I haven’t made any config changes anywhere in the umbraco setup) I found this root cause and removed the default.aspx page and its respective dll from the bin folder. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /default.aspx I stuck up here and struggling to resolve it.Please help me out on this THanks, Srilakshmi

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 client side validation not working for Html.ValidationMessage()?

    I'm trying to get a very simple client side validation example to work in ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using data annotations to set a required property "Surname". When I use the Html.ValidationMessageFor(x = x.Surname) the correct client side validation script is written to the page. But when I use Html.ValidationMessage("Surname") the client side validation is not rendered out until after the page has been posted. Client side validation only starts working after a form post! I can see that the script is updated in the page after a form post. There appears to be a bug in Html.ValidationMessage()?

    Hi, I have been looking into HTML5 and CSS3 and have been liking it quite a lot. Got around the modernizr API, but am stuck at one point, and that leads to further confusions: How will I write a code that caters to the situation of non-compatibility between browsers ? This leads to the following confusions: if I write the doctype as <!DOCTYPE HTML> and my page is accessed in IE6, then ho IE6 will handle the page? If I try to include <video> tag and the page is again accessed by IE6/IE7IE8 (which don't support this tag), Then how am I supposed to be rolling back to flash for them? Should I use some JS to show/hide the content appropriately? I would love to hear some thoughts of you guys. If needed, please mark this post as a community wiki. Thanks!

    If you ask a DB2/zOS engine DBA a question about DB2's behavior, the DBA will refer to the DB2 engine as "he" much the way a sailor uses "she" to refer to his ship. For example: "Once you fill the freespace, DB2 still wants to keep those rows in cluster order in the tablespace. That's why he'll split that page in half, and you end up with lots of half-empty pages. That is, unless the cluster key of the row you've just inserted is the highest in the table, in which case he makes a new empty page, and he puts just your new row into that page. So I wouldn't have to do this REORG if you would just sort your input like I suggested." Does anyone know where this tradition comes from?

  • HTML Links on IzPack HTMLInfoPanel not working correctly

    In my installer (created using IzPack) i am using HTMLInfoPanel, in the HTML data for this info panel I have a website link and an email address. The problem is 1) When I click on the website link, the page is opened in the Installer panel itself, instead of open the page in the default browse window. 2) When I click on the email link, the page in the panel just refreshes and does nothing instead of opening the mail client for the user. Following is HTML for the link: <a href="http://www.XYZ.com/" target="_blank">XYZ, Ltd.</a> HTML for the eMail link: <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]" target="_blank">[email protected]</A> I couldn't find any help fixing this in the IzPack documentation other forums.   • multiple jQuery Cycle slideshows get superimposed

    I'm using the jQuery cycle plugin to create multiple slideshows on a single page (which, once I get this problem figured out, will be started/stopped by mouse hover -- yeah, I know there are 9 slideshows on the page). Problem is, when I tell more than one slideshow to start cycling, whichever ones I call cycle() on get superimposed. So, all the images from slide 1 are superimposed, then they all transition to slide 2, etc. I can tell they're being superimposed because the first slide of each slideshow contains a transparent PNG. This happens whether I call cycle() in a jQuery each() iterator, or even if I call it by hand on just two or three of the containers with a jQuery id selector.     Hello everyone! I'm having a problem with printing. Is it possible to print a (customized) DataGrid which doesn't fit the page? a) Using a ViewBox to make it fit one page. My problem here is that I can get the PrintableArea.Width and PrintableArea.Height in the PrintPage EventHandler, from the PrintPageEventArgs, but in that Event Handler I can't set the size of an UIElement before it gets printed. b) Multiple pages. Is it possible somehow to print the whole DataGrid, even the parts which are not visible (don't fit the page) and to somehow make the PrintableArea only a part of the DataGrid?

  • Why does having a transitional doctype, cause my javascript to fail in WebKit and Opera Browsers

    Hi all I am trying to get a mouseover script to work, when there is no doctype set the script works fine in all browsers I test, but the site looks like a dogs breakfast However When i set the doctype to transitional (it has to be this doctype) Firefox and IE8 (&compat mode) work fine But Opera and the webkit browsers can only display the popup above the page fold, so if you scroll down the page and go over an image the popup appears above the visible page. And I can't figure out why, there are a couple of instances of document.all in the code, but my attempts to replace these have broken the code, besides the fact it works in Firefox and not Opera makes me think that document.all is not the issue Any help would be appreciated, even just telling me why a doctype would effect Javascript would be a help.   • Javascript image change causes embeded UserControls to flicker

    I have a n html page being displayed in IE. It has some buttons made up of images with mouseover/mouseout events on them in JavaScript, and a bunch of embedded .Net UserControls. When the mouseover/mouseout events fire, I change the images src to something else (simple rollover effect). The problem is that the UserControls often (but not always) flicker when this happens. To be clear, the images don't flicker, and the rest of the page doesn't flicker, just the embedded controls. This page is local, not coming from a server or anything. So, any ideas? More information : I've noticed that highlighting text does it too...

    Hi, Basically I have an svg "SecondSVG" into an svg "FirstSVG" into an svg "MainSVG".Every svg has its own ViewBox. This page can be loaded anywhere on the screen by another page. So basically how can i find the screen x for viewBox for"SecondSVG" knowing that this svg can be loaded basically anywhere based on the calling page? event.clientX gives myself the x coordinate for the screen. If I don't know the coordinate for ViewBox of "SecondSVG" then how can I find out the x coordinate inside the ViewBox of "SecondSVG"? I am using Firefox 3.6.3 and I do have an event object from which I can extract clientX, clientY and other coordinates that are relative to the screen. However what I need are the coordinates inside the ViewBox.
