  • ValidatorEnable is not defined when rolled with AJAX

    - by tigermain
I have some webforms which have been working fine with various static and dynamically generated validators. For some reason now that I have implemented UpdatePanels on the forms, when I manually call the ValidatorEnable() method on one of them (when I click a checkbox) I get the "ValidatorEnable is not defined" error message. I am passing the same clientID etc into the method that I was using before I implemented the AJAX.net controls It would seem .net isnt rendering the /WebResource.axd?d=aUu4P3dfjWWyw3KQ9t2ZdqxnzYhrtq9uWWiRZduXE-g1 script to the page, adding it manually I get other missing JS objects. So how can I force it to register the relevant scripts? N.B. The validators in question are being rendered in a repeater

  • javascript and extJs - scope question

    - by ben
Hi guys, I got a little scope related problem with some js code, maybe somebody can explain to me what I'm making wrong: I'm using extJs and got this snippet: Ext.onReady(function(){ // Form for filter selection var formFilter = new Ext.FormPanel({ // ... items: [ cbGroup = new Ext.form.ComboBox({ fieldLabel: 'Group', store: dsGroups, displayField: 'name', valueField: 'number', emptyText : '- Please choose a group -', listeners:{ 'select': function() { alert(cbGroup.selectedIndex +' '+this.selectedIndex); } } }) ] }); }); The problem: When I access the combobox over 'this' within the listener function, I get the correct result for the selectIndex property. When I access the combobox over it's var name, I allways get the result '-1'. Thank a lot for your help!

  • Date Input in safari

    - by Fresheyeball
So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger. Have you had to deal with this problem?

  • Does C# have an equivalent to JavaScript's encodeURIComponent()?

    - by travis
In JavaScript: encodeURIComponent("©v") == "%C2%A9%E2%88%9A" Is there an equivalent for C# applications? For escaping HTML characters I used: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"&#" + ((int)m.Value[0]).ToString() + ";"); But I'm not sure how to convert the match to the correct hexadecimal format that JS uses. For example this code: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"%" + String.Format("{0:x}", ((int)m.Value[0]))); Returns "%a9%221a" for "©v" instead of "%C2%A9%E2%88%9A". It looks like I need to split the string up into bytes or something. Edit: This is for a windows app, the only items available in System.Web are: AspNetHostingPermission, AspNetHostingPermissionAttribute, and AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.

  • Safari javascript cookie issue

    - by Aaron Moodie
    I've hit a bit of a weird issue in Safari in regards to setting a js cookie. The cookie itself is just a rgb colour value, which gets set using .click(), and is working fine in Chrome and Firefox, yet in Safari the value of the cookie is incomplete, showing up as rgb(193 instead of rgb(193, 184, 76) as the other browsers do. The jQuery function I'm using to set the cookie is: $('.project_link a').click(function() { var link_colour = $(this).css("color"); document.cookie = "colour="+link_colour+";expires=;path=/"; });

  • Why is Varnish not caching?

    - by Justin
I am troubleshooting the setup of Varnish 3.x on my Ubuntu server. I'm running Drupal 7 on two sites set up on the box, via named-based vhosts. Before trying to get Varnish to play nice with Drupal I'm trying to just get Varnish to a PNG from cache. Here are the headers I get from a curl -I request of the PNG file: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Last-Modified: Sun, 07 Oct 2012 21:18:59 GMT ETag: "a57c2-3850-4cb7ea73db6c0" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 14416 Cache-Control: max-age=1209600 Expires: Thu, 25 Oct 2012 22:55:14 GMT Content-Type: image/png Accept-Ranges: bytes Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2012 22:55:14 GMT X-Varnish: 1766703058 Age: 0 Via: 1.1 varnish Connection: keep-alive X-Varnish-Cache: MISS Here is the Varnish VCL file I'm using (It's a default VCL configuration designed for Drupal): # Default backend definition. If I'm understanding correctly, this means the file isn't being returned from Varnish's cache. Is there a problem with my Varnish config?

  • How can I change Twitter's Share button height?

    - by user1035890
How can I change Twitter's icon height? I have another custom image, but the height stays the same. How do I fix this? https://dev.twitter.com/docs/tweet-button and I used the div method and not the iframe because I wanted to add the data-title I used this code: <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <div> <a href="https://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-url="https://dev.twitter.com/pages/tweet_button" data-via="your_screen_name" data-text="Checking out this page about Tweet Buttons" data-related="anywhere:The Javascript API" data-count="vertical">Tweet</a> </div>

  • I have a BHO in c++ and i need to block some keyboard controls (Ctrl-o) in a i-frame.

    - by BHOdevelopper
I need to know of a way to prevent the user to 'open a new url' (with Ctrl-o) as soon as he has the focus on my sidebar (right-sided iframe). In fact, my sidebar offers some controls and the user should not be able to 'navigate' to other website through the sidebar. I'm using a bho in C++ using ATL(active template library), but maybe if anyone knows of a simplier way like in JS(javascript) or PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor) ? Any ideas is appreciated. Thanks. If anyone need precisions, please ask. I'll be checking for responses every single days.

  • jQuery AJAX get request - cannot see returned data

    - by Wes
I think I am missing something obvious here, but I can't figure it out. I expect the following HTML to alert a response from the server. But, the alert is empty. I can see in Wireshark that the expected response is coming back to me from the server. Why is it not populated in the data variable? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> $.get("http://www.geocommunicator.gov/TownshipGeocoder/TownshipGeocoder.asmx/GetTRS", {'Lat': 41, 'Lon': -93, 'Units': 'eDD', 'Datum': ''}, function(data) { alert('data:'+data); }); </script> </body> </html>

  • Graph call "/me/friends" doesn't contain names if called from a testuser

    - by Marc
When I log into Facebook with my account and call the Graph API with /me/friends it returns an array like this: [ {id: "6868...", name: "John Smith"}, {id: "7531...", name: "Diane Smith"}, ... ] But if I'm logged in with a Facebook testuser and do the same call I get an array like this: [ {id: "100002927..."}, {id: "100003151..."}, ... ] So I'm missing the name property. Bug? Or did I some mistake? I'm using the JS SDK, but I think that doesn't matter.

  • HTML Audio performance

    - by user1888309
I'm working on HTML drum machine, and I`ve met some performance issues, rhythm start to break if BPM is higher than 110 but I'm expecting to make it work on BPM over 180. I guess that it can be related with format or codec of audio files, however it also maybe that my code is not very optimised (as I can see from JS CPU profiling it's not). So I'm expecting you guys give me some code review or some hints on optimisation. Although all similar projects I've found on internet didn't work good and maybe it's just restrictions of Audio API. By the way, it's very raw and sounds works only on Chrome under Mac OS, so any advise on audio encoding for web also would be great Project on Github pages Screenshot of Groove which breaks UPDATE Ok, I've found that I was encoding audio files incorrectly, after fixing that rhythm stopped breaking, and also it started working in Mozilla. But still there are issues on windows OS.

  • Posting null values via AJAX

    - by nickf
Using the jQuery $.post function, if you send a null value, it arrives at the server side as "null". Example: Javascript: $.post('test.php', { foo : null }); PHP: var_dump($_POST['foo']); // string(4) "null" I understand why this is so, but was wondering the best way to work around the limitation? Should you: Loop through all the variables in JS before you send them and replace with an empty string? Interpret "null" as null on the server side? Don't send the variable at all? Something else?

  • Why shouldnt i use flash again?

    - by acidzombie24
I heard many times i should avoid flash for my website. Yet no one has told me a good reason. I searched for reasons and i see many that are not true (such as text in flash are not indexable by search engines) or may not necessarily be true or significant enough (eating more bandwidth. Would a JS equivalent be bigger or smaller?). My site uses flash to playback sound (m4a). I dont have to worry about indexing, the back button not working, etc. But i have feeling there may be other reasons. What are reasons i shouldnt use flash on my website. I'll note one, the fact iphone/itouch and mobile devices does not support it. Not a big deal for most sites and is obvious. What are reason to avoid flash on my site?

  • Which is better: string html generation or jquery DOM element creation?

    - by Ed Woodcock
Ok, I'm rewriting some vanilla JS functions in my current project, and I'm at a point where there's a lot of HTML being generated for tooltips etc. My question is, is it better/preferred to do this: var html = '<div><span>Some More Stuff</span></div>'; if (someCondition) { html += '<div>Some Conditional Content</div>'; } $('#parent').append(html); OR var html = $('<div/>').append($('<span/>').append('Some More Stuff')); if (someCondition) { html.append($('<div/>').append('Some conditionalContent'); } $('#parent').append(html); ?

  • How do polymorphic inline caches work with mutable types?

    - by kingkilr
A polymorphic inline cache works by caching the actual method by the type of the object, in order to avoid the expensive lookup procedures (usually a hashtable lookup). How does one handle the type comparison if the type objects are mutable (i.e. the method might be monkey patched into something different at run time). The one idea I've come up with would be a "class counter" that gets incremented each time a method is adjusted, however this seems like it would be exceptionally expensive in a heavily monkey patched environ since it would kill all the PICs for that class, even if the methods for them weren't altered. I'm sure there must be a good solution to this, as this issue is directly applicable to Javascript and AFAIK all 3 of the big JS VMs have PICs (wow acronym ahoy).

  • Javascript Canvas Element - Array Of Images

    - by Ben Shelock
I'm just learning JS, trying to do things without jQuery, and I want to make something similar to this however I want to use an array of images instead of just the one. My image array is formed like this var image_array = new Array() image_array[0] = "image1.jpg" image_array[1] = "image2.jpg" And the canvas element is written like this. (Pretty much entirely taken from the Mozilla site) function draw() { var ctx = document.getElementById('canvas').getContext('2d'); var img = new Image(); img.src = 'sample.png'; img.onload = function(){ for (i=0;i<5;i++){ for (j=0;j<9;j++){ ctx.drawImage(img,j*126,i*126,126,126); } } } } It uses the image "sample.png" in that code but I want to change it to display an image from the array. Displaying a different one each time it loops. Apoligies if I've not explained this well.

  • What Web design tool would make a good CityDesk replacement?

    - by Joshua Fox
I am looking for a tool for building static template-based web sites, your typical brochure-ware for a non-profit or a personal site. I have used CityDesk, but that is out-of-date, unsupported, and has certain problems. Of course there are lots of tools out there, but I cannot find anything similar to CityDesk: WYSIWYG as well as HTML coding a templating system not overdesigned like, say, Dreamweaver built for developers who understand HTML/JS/CSS but easier to use than hand-coding of PHP, Ruby, or other templates in a text editor supporting the editing of pages by non-developers preferably free I'd also like it to be CSS-aware; and to have lots of free templates available. Or alternatively, static template-based sites are often developed nowadays on the Web using a CMS like Django; is that the way to go? Edit: Namo, DreamWeaver, NetObjects Fusion, Coffee Cup, Evrsoft First Page, and Microsoft Expression might be candidates. I'll appreciate comments on these based on the criteria above.

  • prevent hover set by the CSS

    - by meo
I try to prevent the Browser from using the :hover effect of the CSS. $("ul#mainFilter a").hover( function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... }, function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... }); I tired it with return false; to but it does not work. Does anyone know how to do this? due the answers i give you some more nfo: I have set the a and a:hover styles, in my CSS already. Now if JS is available on the clients machine, i want to overwrite the effect with a smoother one. (using jQuery color plugin) As mentioned by fudgey, a work around would be to set the style (using .css()) but i would have to overwrite every single effect specified in the CSS (see here: http://jsfiddle.net/raPeX/1/ ). I am looking for a generic solution.

  • Animate rotating SVG element on webpage

I've tried using Javascript and inserting animation commands directly into the SVG, but nothing works. I don't want to load in an entire JS library for this one task. This is what I have so far: <html> <body bgcolor="#333333"> <embed src="gear.svg" id="gear" width="1000" height="1000" style="position: absolute; top: -500px; left: -500px;" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var gear = document.getElementById("gear"); window.setInterval(function() { // Somehow animate the gear. }, 10); </script> </body> </html>

  • Why does Printing from Javascript in Air happen out of order?

    - by Bob Bob
I am trying to print from an Adobe Air App that embeds an AJAX app. The print function looks like this: function printPage() { asyncSetupForPrint(printCallback); } function asyncSetupForPrint(printCallback) { synchronousMethods(); if (printCallback) printCallback(); } function printCallback() { var pjob = new window.runtime.flash.printing.PrintJob; var psprite = window.htmlLoader; pjob.start(); // etc... } However the print dialog is coming up before the synchronous methods have been executed. Is the AIR JS runtime optimizing something? And if so, is there any way to stop it doing that? (The setup function is doing things like changing the resolution to huge*huge so that the print out looks ok.)

  • jQuery Plugin with $.getJSON Returning undefined?

    - by Oscar Godson
Inside of a jQuery plugin I made I have: $.getJSON(base_url,{ agenda_id:defaults.id, action:defaults.action+defaults.type, output:defaults.output },function(json){ return json; }); And in a separate JS file (yes, it comes after the plugin): json = $('#agenda-live-preview').agenda({action:'get',type:'agenda',output:'json'}); alert(json[0].agenda_id); If i do the above $.getJSON and put an alert inside of the $.getJSON it works and returns "3", which is correct. If I do it like the json=$('#agenda-live-preview').agenda(...)... it returns undefined. My JSON is valid, and the json[0].agenda_id is correct also, I know it's in a callback, so how do I get the stuff inside of a callback in a function return?
