hello.
In meta-programming number of classes grows quite fast.
Is maximum number of classes modern compiler allows, for example g++, something to be concerned about?
Thank you
<select name="select">
</select>
I want to populate the above tag with values from database.
I have written php code up to this.
while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
}
$row is fetching fetching correct values.. how to add it to the <select>
please help... Am new to programming
Is it practically possible to create a triangle of stars like this as below in SQL.I know that this could be done easily in any other programming language like C,C++,Java but want to know whether it is really possible with just SQL or PL/SQL.I tried working on it with dual table in Oracle but couldn't get through it.

* * * *
* * * or * * *
Can someone please shed somelight if anyone knows about it.
I feel a little embarassed posting two questions relating to the same problem, but the first one ended up answering a question that I believe is unrelated to the solution so I'm leaving it up and outlining what I'm trying to accomplish with the hopes that someone can help out a .Net noob.
What I need to be able to do is create a field in my gridview that contains a link that passes two variables. One is pulled from within the gridviews datasource and the other needs to be pulled from a textbox control outside the gridview.
From what I've read so far you cannot use a hyperlinkfield for this as the datanavigateurlfields cannot be set to pull from anything but the gridview's data source.
What I attempted to do was create a template field where in the itemtemplate I called:
<a href="example.aspx?e=<%# Eval(ExampleList.SelectedItem.Value) %>">Test</a>
That comes back with an error like this:
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the value 'TestData'
Any clues to make this happen would be appreciated, like I said I'm pretty new to .Net so please be gentle. I tried to do my homework before posting this.
Pretty basic programming question, I know PHP have a function for it, but does the iPhone OS have one?
I want to check if the current indexPath is a value in an array.
PHP Example:
<?php
$indexPath = 3;
$array = array("0", "1", "2", "3", "4");
if (in_array($indexPath, $array)) {
// Do something
}
?>
Does anybody know how to do the same thing inthe iPhone OS?
I'm currently investigating what the runtime of different programming languages looks like behind the scenes. For a compiled language like C, people usually give the explanation of "Code is compiled to assembly which is assembled and linked into a binary executable. The executable is then loaded into memory and the CPU interprets it." My question is how does the CPU know where to look for the next instruction to execute? Is it a memory address stored in one of the registers?
I am new to C++ programming, but I have experience in Java. I need guidance on how to pass objects to functions in C++.
Do I need to pass pointers, references, or non-pointer and non-reference values? I remember in Java there are no such issues since we pass just the variable that holds reference to the objects.
It would be great if you could also explain where to use each of those options.
Just started exploring Cocoa so pretty much a total noob.
I've written a very simple game. Set it up in Interface Builder and got it working fine.
It contains a number of buttons and I'm now trying to get the buttons to display images.
To start with I'm trying to get an image displayed on just one of the buttons which is called tile0 .
The image file (it's nothing but a green square at the moment, but I'm just trying to get that working before I attempt anything more exotic) is sitting in the same directory as the class file which controls the game.
I have the following code sitting in my wakeFromNib method:
NSString *myImageFileName = [[NSString alloc] init];
myImageFileName = @"greenImage.jpg";
NSImage *myImage = [[NSImage alloc] initByReferencingFile:myImageFileName];
[tile0 setImage: myImage];
Trouble is, the game runs fine, but the image isn't appearing on my button.
Is there someone who could kindly tell me if I'm doing something obviously wrong?
Many Thanks.

Hi all!
I would like to know: when programming in C using a socket (AF_UNIX) is there any limit (in bytes) when sending or receiving to or from a socket?
Thank you!

I want a simple timeline component (like in video editing software) for a clojure/seesaw app and I am wondering if it is a good approach to implement this directly with clojure and seesaw or if I should write it in java and make my clojure wrapper around it.
Or more generally: is a functional programming language optimal for writing UI widgets? I cannot imagine doing that without a lot of state involved. And wasn't OO invented for UI-development in the first place?
I have a basic html form that adds some data to the page using PHP. I want to make this form field a "Price" field. My html is:
<input class="bids" name="comment" id="comment" tabindex="4" />
How can I fix this field so that users can't enter random letters, dollar signs, dashes, or other weird formats. I want the output to be whole dollars. Sorry I'm a complete programming moron. :)
Hi
I am working with telecom company.I am familiar with java programming language.But now I have a task to write a script , with linux operating systems.I have to write a script for fetching data from other computer and check some conditions. How can I do that using Java. Plz help me.

I would like to add a favorites tab to my iphone app that i am developing. I am using core data to populate a UITableView and would like in the detailed view to be able to add the selected item to the users favorites.
Would i go about this by adding the selected item to a new array?
I am very new to xcode and iphone programming so as much help and code would be gratefully received.
Sorry if this is a duplicate question...I've searched around and found similar advice but nothing that helps my exact problem. And please excuse the noob questions, CRON is a new thing for me.
I have a codeigniter script that scrapes the html DOM of another site and stores some of that in a database. I'd like to run this script at a regular interval. This has lead me to looking into cron jobs.
The page I have is at myserver.com/index.php/update
I realize I can run a cron job with curl and run this page. If I want to be a bit more secure I can put a string at the end like:
myserver.com/index.php/update/asdfh2784fufds
And check for that in my CI controller.
This seems like it would be mostly secure, but doesn't seem like the "right" way to do things.
I've looked into running CI from the command line, and can execute basic pages like:
php index.php mycontroller
But when I try to do:
php index.php update
It doesn't work. I suspect this is because it needs to use HTTP to scrape the DOM of the outside page.
So, my question:
How do I securely run a codeigniter script with a cron job that needs HTTP access?
I'm good at learning new languages and platforms, though whenever I try to learn Reg Ex I cannot make sense of it. I once even used the Regular Expression Designer to try and put some together.
What's a good starting point to understanding what looks like the only rocket-science programming language in the world?
Links to articles, books or anything else that could help me get my grounding would be appreciated.
I'm trying to use Eclipse + PyDev for studying OpenGL programming but when I type
from OpenGL.GL import *
from OpenGL.GLUT import *
IDE becomes extremely slow!
Ok. It isn't a smart idea import to much useless things but it's so useful for learning a new library!
Any help?
PS: I use Ubuntu with Eclipse Galileo.
PHP was the undisputed king of easy webapp development, until Ruby on Rails, Django, and other dynamic programming frameworks appeared. What are, in your opinion, PHP's strengths against the newcomers?
Hi,
I am basically working on unix and c programming.
i want to start learning Pro*c on unix.
Is there any good online tutorial which will help me start writing simple programs in pro*c and compiling those Pro*c files.?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm rather new with the whole OSX programming, I wanted to stick a WebView into an empty app. Apparently it isn't as simple as sticking a WebView on a window in interface builder and creating an outlet.
IBOutlet WebView *webView;
It gives me a
expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'WebView'
and when I don't use an outlet, it terminates due to uncaught exception. I'm not too sure what these error messages mean.
Seems it isn't that simple!
I have a string (R(46 - 9900)) AND ( NOT (R(48 - 9900))) where R denotes Range . If you evaluate the expression it results in R(46-47) , considering the logical operators (AND,NOT).
I have a requirement where I need to parse such a string and evaluate it to a correct result . I have to use C++ as a programming tool to achieve this result .
Can anyone suggest a few guide lines as to how do I proceed on this ?
I'm currently developing a small Database Management System for a local company. How would you go about explaining how the system you have designed to a client? If they are non-technical and have no understanding of programming, how would you go about showing what the system will do and how it will do it? I guess some sort of visual representation of the system but this seems very patronising to me.
In win32 programming in C:
Whats the best way to execute a win32 console program within another win32 program, and have the program that started the execution capture the output? At the moment I made the program redirect output to a file, but I am sure I must be able to open some sort of pipe?
I need to teach myself Winforms and user interface programming and want a decent book that will go thoroughly into the ins and outs of how to accomplish things.
Can anyone suggest a good book?
I know C# pretty well and have messed about with Winforms in the designer before.
Thank you
I'm a reasonably skilled programmer, and I'm interested in branching out into some new languages -- python, specifically -- but frankly I do NOT want to go through a tutorial that assumes I know nothing about programming. I want a tutorial -- again, preferably for python -- that assumes I'm just unfamiliar with the language itself and describes the ways I can use the language to solve problems.
Does such a beast exist? I mean, other than the Python wiki?
