  • How can I create an automatic svn tagging script?

    I want to create a simple script that tags the latest revision to the tags folder, for example: for Trunk directory head revision 114, it will create a tag of this directory to the Tags directory which goes by the name "r114". I don't really care of what scripting language it'll use (as long as it runs on windows). I tried creating such script using SVN CLI tool, but it failed connecting to a SSL repository. How can I achieve that?

  • Good Way to Debug Visual Studio Designer Errors

    Hi, Does anyone know a good way to debug errors in the Visual Studio Designer? In our project we have tons of UserControls and many complex forms. For the complex ones, the Designer often throws various exceptions which doesn't help much and was wondering if there's some nice way to figure out what has gone wrong.   • AviSaveOptions() dialog window is distorted!

    Hi All. I'm using windows XP , hebrew version. I am trying to save an AVI file using the Video For Windows API in C++, when I run the AviSaveOptions() function, the dialog opens as a thin unclickable strip at the corner of the screen. Would it have anything to do with the language (Hebrew)? maybe with the vfw driver itself? what might cause a windows dialog window to be distorted/invisible? thanks Roey

  • Kernel Compiling from Vanilla to several machines

    When compiling kernels for machines is there a safe or correct way to create a template for say servers? I work with a lot of RHEL servers and want to compile them with GRSEC. However, I do not wish to always rebuild off of the .config for each machine and go in and remove a bunch of unrelated modules like wireless, bluetooth, ect... which you typically do not need in servers. I want to create a template .config that can be used on any machine, but is there a safe way to do that when hardware changes? I know with Linux, at least from my experience, you can cross jump hardware way easier then Windows/OSX. I assume that as long as I leave MOST of all the main hardware modules/CPU in that this could create a .config that would work for all or just about any machine?

  • Why doesn't Java allow for the creaton of generic arrays?

    There are plenty of questions on stackoverflow from people who have attempted to create an array of generics like so: ArrayList<Foo>[] poo = new ArrayList<Foo>[5]; And the answer of course is that the Java specification doesn't allow you to declare an array of generics. My question however is why ? What is the technical reason underlying this restriction in the java language or java vm? It's a technical curiosity I've always wondered about.

Is there an equivalent style for the web? I mean, with a predefined list of widgets that can be defined using a markup language and then control them using code?     It's possible to do interesting things with what would ordinarily be thought of as typesetting languages. For example, you can construct the Mandelbrot set using postscript. It is suggested in this MathOverflow question that LaTeX may be Turing-complete. This implies the ability to write arbitrary programs (although it may not be easy!). Does anyone know of any concrete example of such a program in LaTeX, which does something highly unusual with the language?

  • Why does my HDD produce a high-pitched noise when the CPU is in use?

    I know this is strange. Some time ago, I bought a new 7200rpm HDD for my desktop system (I'll look for the model later). Every time the CPU is used, a high frequency cheep comes from the HDD. I'm sure it's the HDD because the problem does not occur if the HDD is not attached or is in energy-saving mode (I cross-checked by booting from a live CD). What could be the reason for the cheep sounds? Could it be the power supply?
