• Couldn't make Angry birds to work on wine

  I could run Notepad++ easily but I fail to run the Angry bird exe. Whenever I open the exe, I see one of my screen flickrs a bit (as lines and not the whole screen) and nothing happens. Any ideas?   I'm trying to install Windows XP on my new SATA drive but I need to first slipstream the drivers with nLite. I've done this before, but not on an ASUS P5S800 - VM motherboard. I'm not used to the number of choices it gives me for drivers in SiS chipsets. When I look through the folder that I downloaded from ASUS for the RAID driver, I see many folders with different versions of the driver. Here are the folders or versions given. 180ob 964_180 965 966_968 What drivers do I need to add in order to get XP on my SATA disk?

• Godaddy hosting with dynamic ip?

  I bought a domain name on godaddy.com let's call it www.website.com, but my server has a dynamic ip, how do I resolve this issue? What I've tried: get a dns account at dyndns.com let's call it dns.dyndns.com, so I set up godaddy to forward the domain to dns.dyndns.com. problem: When the user goes to www.website.com, they see dns.dyndns.com in the url bar. Bad So then I set up the forwarding on godaddy to forward with domain masking, but then the problem is now that users can't even see url paths/get queries/ or hash marks anymore! `www.website.com/folder/search?id=4#ajax=4` becomes just www.website.com in the url bar. bad! What do I do?

  I am using a Vista but I would like the answer for XP, Vista and Windows 7. I am writing a program where I want to count the Important or Essential files of the Windows PC. It looks like the Essential files would be located somewhere in C:/Windows and after some research I found that some Essential files are located in C:/Windows/winsxs. What and where are the Essential files for a Windows PC? Is there a folder or set of folders that contain the essential files? Are all the files in C:/Windows/winsxs Essential? • How to prevent any files from being copied onto the Desktop?

  Gentlepeeps, Is there any solution to prevent copying of files onto the desktop? My folks and i currently have one super-common-comp in our place. And when all of the laptops are busy, we tend to do some quick surfing on this comp. I prefer to keep things freakishly organized in this comp and one thing i hate is having those off-shoot irritating forwarded downloads on my desktop. Is there some way to restrict files from being copied onto the desktop? I tried making the administrator user's desktop folder as read-only :P . That doesn't solve the problem. Any other ideas/software/solutions? cheers.

I have a folder with files, which I want to rename: I want the files challenge1.rb, challenge2.rb, challenge3.rb, etc. to be renamed to c1.rb, c2.rb etc. Similarly task1.rb and similar must be renamed to t1.rb etc. sample_spec_c1.rb, sample_spec_c2.rb etc. must be renamed to c1_spec.rb, c2_spec.rb etc. So I guess I need some combination of regular expressions and iteration, but I don't know how to write the bash script.

  I'm trying to install ajaxplorer at a shared hosting in my home folder. When I navigate to the main page, I get an error: is_writable(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/lib/php5) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www//username/:/usr/sbin/sendmail:/usr/share/php :/home/www/appname::/usr/share/pear:/dev/urandom) What might be the cause? How could I fix it? There is php 5.3.3 installed, apache 2.2.16. I use ajaxplorer 4.0.4.   Hey I have some problems with my Win7 so I've ran sfc /scannow and I got this message: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and was unable to fix some of them..." I also told to look at the folder of the log file to find the cbs.log. After that I've ran this command to pull out the actual problems/corrupt files: findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" This command have created an sfcdetails text file (download). Can someone help me to analyze this file? I haven't found a detailed article about it so far.

  I'm shifting most of my projects to a Linux machine, and one of the things that I miss is WinSCP. I've found other answers saying that nautilus, FileZilla etc. can be used for SFTP, but something that I loved about WinSCP was that it has two panes (FileZilla's got that) and I could start synchronization from any directory. Unison or Rsync could work, but I'd have to create a folder pair every time I want to sync two folders. Is there an SFTP client for Linux that has a two-paned view and allows ad-hoc synchronization? • Multiple domains, one config, hosted on apache2

  First a quick disclaimer, I'm not a 'server guy' or a 'unix pro' or anything like that, I'm a web programmer who got stuck doing server works since I ran linux (ubuntu) on my netbook. I'm trying to set up an apache server running on Debian to automagically serve multiple domains, each domain needs to have its own directory in /var/www. Since this is the last thing I do for this company I really need it to be easy for my successor (who is even more a beginner at servers than I am), to create more domains without having to muck around with ssh or /etc/apache2/sites-available, so what I'm looking for is basically any magic mumbo-jumbo in default (or apt-get, or conf.d) that makes the server start serving any domain that has a matching folder in /var/www they will ofcourse have to initiate domain transfers the usual way. I have no problem setting up domains individually. Ick... hope the above makes sense to someone.

• Why do I need lib64 on my 32 bit machine?

  I am trying to install Oracle on my 32-bit machine that runs Ubuntu 10.4. I am following install Oracle on Ubuntu tutorial. At the very first step there is a requirement to manually install library libstdc++5. Author does 2 steps: download libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_amd64.deb from here download ia32-libs_2.7ubuntu6.1_amd64.deb from here As you may have probably noticed these 2 files contain an "_amd64" postfix, which pointed me out that author is using 64-bit amd processor. Each of these files author copied to /usr/lib64 and /usr/lib32 folders correspondingly and simply make soft links libstdc++.so.5 in both folders. Since I am running 32-bit machine I have simply downloaded those 2 files without "_amd64" postfix. Unexpectedly for me I have also found 2 lib folders in my /usr folder: /usr/lib64 and /usr/lib. So here is my problem: I do not understand which files and where do I have to copy: 1) Do I have to make the same steps as the author has done, i.e. download files with "_amd64" postfixes and place them in my /usr/lib64 and /usr/lib folders? 2) Or do I have to use libraries without "_amd64" postfix? And one more question: why do I have /usr/lib64 at all?

• Prevent Outlook from automatically deleting meeting emails

  I'm using Outlook Web Access to read my email. When I receive a meeting notice and acknowledge it, Outlook adds it to my calendar then deletes the email. Is there a way to disable Outlook automatically deleting the meeting email? There doesn't seem to be any way to configure this in Options - Messaging and Options - Calendar. Note that I'm using Outlook Web Access and not the desktop client. From the copyright date this appears to be Outlook 2007. Follow-up: Based on edusysadmin's comment I logged-in using IE8, which exposed a setting not available in Firefox - "Move out-of-date meeting requests and responses to the Deleted Items folder". However unchecking this box doesn't seem to impact the auto-delete behavior. Follow-up 2: Keep in mind I am using Outlook Web Access via a web browser. I do not have the thick client Outlook installed.

• Trouble with cross network permissions for an image through iis7 in an asp.net virtual directory

  I have load balanced web servers My web application has a function that allows the user to upload their company logo to display in the application header obviously, when they upload the logo image file, it needs to be in a central location or otherwise, the file will not be accessible to the other server on the load balancer. in order to be able to upload the image through the application other on one of either servers and then display it on both servers I need a virtual directory in IIS on both servers that point to a third "file server" (this is the "AcctData" directory shown below with a sub folder "images") the problem is that no matter what I do, I run into a permissioning issue If I use pass-through authentication I get a 401 error. If I use a specific user that's set up on both boxes, I get a 500 error. The "Default" application under "CP" (shown in the image below) uses an AppPool that is a Domain Account that has admin permissions on all the servers. I've also tried sticking a Web.config file in the "AcctData" directory allowing anonymous access. Nothing is working though.

• SSH keys fail for one user

  I just set up a new Debian server. I disabled root SSH and password auth, so you've gotta use a key file. For my primary user, everything works exactly as expected. I used ssh-keygen -t dsa and got myself a public and private key. Put one in authorized keys, put the other in a pem file locally. I wanted to create a user that I can deploy things with, so I did basically the same process. I addusered it, made a .ssh folder, ran ssh-keygen -t dsa (I also tried RSA), put the keys in their appropriate locations. No luck. I'm getting a Permission denied (publickey) error. When I use the exact same keys as the account that works, same error. When I enable password authentication, I can log in via SSH with the password. How do I debug this?

• Evolution Gmail Mashup + Fixing Time stamp

  I wanted to migrate my university email (including subfolders) to my gmail account. Since gmail only imports POP3 which doesn't have subfolders, I had to connect to both gmail and my university mail using an email client (I am using Evolution) and then drag each folder from my university account to my gmail account. This worked for the most part, but the time stamp on every email I dragged over from my university account to gmail reads as todays date, when it was dragged over. If I enter the email and hit details it shows the actual sent date. How can I get it to not overwrite the received date when transferring? (as I assume this is what is happening). Thanks

Only catalina.YYYY-MM-DD.log rotates every night. Admin. Host-Manager. Jakarta. LocalHost. Manager. stderr. stdout does not roate and are dated at the last server restart date. • How can I display and log PHP errors on IIS7?

  We're running PHP 5.2.5 on an IIS 7 Server and we're having problems making PHP errors visible... At the moment whenever we have a PHP error the server sends back a 500 error with the message "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred." This might be a good setting for production websites but it's rather annoying on a development server... ;-) I have tried configuring php.ini to display errors to the screen as well as log them to a specific folder but it seems that the Server catches all errors before and prevents and handling by PHP... Does someone know what we have to do to make IIS display PHP errors on screen? Any links, tipps or tutorials on the subject would be appreciated!

  Good afternoon. I want xcopy to copy all files meeting a certain criteria located in the C drive to a specific folder, except ones located in the directories specified in excl.txt. The exclusions only work partially - the files located in %systemroot%, %programfiles% and in each profile's appdata are still copied, even though those directories are listed in excl.txt. How do I make xcopy skip those directories, preferentially still using environment vars to specify the paths? • Windows 7 (32bit) not adding favorites to Windows Explorer

  I am attempting to add several locations on my disk to my "Favorites" in Windows Explorer. I have used this feature in the 64bit version of Windows 7 without a problem, but it does not seem to work in this install. Here is my methodology so far. 1.) Go to a location in Windows Explorer "C:\users\Benjamin" 2.) Right click on the "favorites" in the left hand folder navigation window and select "Add current location to Favorites" It does not fire an error, but the location does not appear under favorites. What might be happening here to prevent "favorites" from populating?
