• TG2.1: Proper location to store a database session instance?

  I am using a custom database (MongoDB) with TG 2.1 and i am wondering where the proper place to store the PyMongo connection/database instances would be? Eg, at the moment they are getting created inside of my inherited instance of AppConfig. Is there a standard location to store this? Would shoving the variables into the project.model.__init__ be the best location, given that under SQLAlchemy, the database seems to commonly be retrieved via: from project.model import DBSession, metadata Anyway, just curious what the best practice is.

  Hello, new to Android. I get the following message in the debugger perspective: The source attachment does not contain the source for the file ListView.class You can change the source attachment by clicking the change attached Source Below Needless to say the app errors. I've tried to change the source attachment to the location path: C:/Program Files/Android/android-sdk-windows/platforms/android-8/android.jar However, this did not work. • jsf messed up links

  I'm new to JSF. My application is working, but I'm confused with links in browser when using controller. BTW, there is also PrimeFaces in my app so don't be suprised with p: tags. Let's say I have 'list' and 'show' pages with controller doing redirection between them. First I'm on http://localhost:8080/y/r/conversation/list.xhtml page. There is link created with line <p:commandLink action="#{lazyConversationBean.doShow(conv)}" ajax="false" value="View"/>. lazyConversationBean acts here as my Controller. There is method: public String doShow(Conversation c) { this.setSelectedConversation(c); return "view"; } from which I got redirected to ...... again http://localhost:8080/y/r/conversation/list.xhtml (browser shows it) even when it's correct http://localhost:8080/y/r/conversation/view.xhtml page. There I have link <p:commandButton action="#{lazyConversationBean.doList()}" ajax="false" value="Back to list"/> and again controller has method: public String doList() { return "list"; } from which I got redirected to ... yeah, you guessed right ... http://localhost:8080/y/r/conversation/view.xhtml (that is again what browser shows) even when again it is correct http://localhost:8080/y/r/conversation/list.xhtml page. It seams as browser link area is always one step behind page currently being displayed. I don't even know if it's some incorrect behaviour as I have no idea how to query google for this :D Just for test I did this short tutorial, where netbeans created whole stack of code on one of my entities, and behaviour was the same, so it's not PrimeFaces magic related. Can you tell my why it happens, and how to fix it? Users likes to copy correct links ;)

• How can I tell when something outside my UITableViewCell has been touched?

  Similar to this question I have a custom subclass of UITableViewCell that has a UITextField. Its working fine except the keyboard for doesn't go away when the user touches a different table view cell or something outside the table. I'm trying to figure out the best place to find out when something outside the cell is touched, then I could call resignFirstResponder on the text field. If the UITableViewCell could receive touch events for touches outside of its view then it could just resignFirstResponder itself but I don't see any way to get those events in the cell. The solution I'm considering is to add a touchesBegan:withEvent: method to the view controller. There I could send a resignFirstResponder to all tableview cells that are visible except the one that the touch was in (let it get the touch event and handle it itself). Maybe something like this pseudo code: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint touchPoint = // TBD - may need translate to cell's coordinates for (UITableViewCell* aCell in [theTableView visibleCells]) { if (![aCell pointInside:touchPoint withEvent:event]) { [aCell resignFirstResponder]; } } } I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about this. There doesn't seem to be any way for the tableviewcell itself to receive event notifications for events outside its view.

• Change title of UINavigationBar

  I've created a view-based application. I've placed a Navigation Bar on the view and two buttons. I'd like to change the title of the nav bar after pressing the buttons. In IB I've connected the buttons with the corresponding actions. Debugging shows that the actions are getting called but the title of the nav bar is not changed. I thought it was syntax for linq2sql or ado.net entity framework but I'm just using straight ado.net. I don't understand why the VWD used that syntax when generating the Create form. What does = mean?

• Converting OpenGL co-ordinates to lower UIView (and UIImagePickerController)

  Hi, I am new to OpenGL over iPhone. I am developing an iPhone app similar to a barcode reader but with an extra OpenGL layer. The bottommost layer is UIImagePickerController, then I use UIView on top and draw a rectangle at certain co-ordinates on the iphone screen. So far everything is OK. Then I am trying to draw an OpenGL 3-D model in that rectangle. I am able to load a 3-D model in the iPhone based on this code here - http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2008/12/start-of-wavefront-obj-file-loader.html I am not able to transform the co-ordinates of the rectangle into OpenGL co-ordinates. Appreciate any help. Do I need to use a matrix to translate the currentPosition of the 3-D model so it is drawn within myRect? The code is given below.. Appreciate any help/pointers in this regards.   So, i got this Navigation-based App (with a custom NavigationBar - Category) and I have 2 problems here... @implementation UINavigationBar (Custom) - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed: @"bg_toolbar.png"]; [image drawInRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height)]; } @end Because of the Navigation-based App, most of the views have a height of 436px (= ScreenSize - NavigationBar height, as you probably know ;). I got one view similar to the photo app overview showing all the thumbnails, from there I push a viewcontroller containing the scroll view (like in photos app) on the stack, like so - (void)buttonPressed:(id)sender { UIButton *btn = (UIButton *)sender; PhotoSetScrollViewController *psc = [[PhotoSetScrollViewController alloc] initWithPhotoArray:photos andID:btn.tag]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:psc animated:YES]; } Problem 1: The view holding the fullscreen scrollview has a height of 480px which seems to be a problem because when poping the viewcontroller by hitting the back button, the view containing the thumbnails (height 436px) moves upward below the navigation bar. And also the Toolbar keeps showing. What could be the problem? Problem 2: How could I switch between my custom navigation bar and the standard black translucent style?

  Hi, I have a project set up using these two tutorials. http://twilloapp.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-embed-navigation-controller.html and the link for the second tutorial is at the bottom of the first. The tutorial is slightly outdated but I managed to get it to work as advertised. Now I want to push a new detailedView onto the NavigationController when a user touches a row in the table view. So I added this to my MyTableViewController.m file. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. SecondViewController *detailViewController = [[SecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondViewController.xib" bundle:nil]; // ... // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailViewController animated:YES]; [detailViewController release]; } Now when I run this project and touch a row in my table view I am getting an error: asm_Terminating_due_to_uncaught_exception IT seems to be having an issue loading the SecondViewController from nib, however I checked the detailViewController and it is not nil. • Can I avoid explicitly casting objects with a common subclass?

  I have an iPodLibraryGroup object and Artist and Album both inherit from it. When it comes to my view controllers though I find that I'm duplicate lots of code, for example I have an ArtistListViewController and and AlbumListViewController even though they're both doing basically the same thing. The reason I've ended up duplicating the code is because these view controllers each refer to either an Artist object or al Album object and I'm not sure how to set it up so that one view controller could handle both — these view controllers are mainly accessing methods that that the objects have in common from iPodLibraryGroup. As an example, to hopefully make this clearer consider this code in AlbumListViewController: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { Album *album = nil; album = [self albumForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath inTableView:tableView]; … if (!album.thumbnail) { [self startThumbnailDownload:album forIndexPath:indexPath inTableView:tableView]; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"Placeholder.png"]; } else { cell.imageView.image = album.thumbnail; } return cell; } This is essentially completely repeated (along with a hell of a lot more repeated code) in ArtistListViewController just so that I can typecast the local variable as an Artist instead of an Album. Is there a way to not explicitly need to set Artist or Album here so that the same code could work for any object that is a child of iPodLibraryGroup?

• rails, activerecord callbacks not saving

  I have a model with a callback that runs after_update: after_update :set_state protected def set_state if self.valid? self.state = 'complete' else self.state = 'in_progress' end end But it doesn't actually save those values, why not? Regardless of if the model is valid or not it won't even write anything, even if i remove the if self.valid? condition, I can't seem to save the state. Um, this might sound dumb, do I need to run save on it?

  I have been intensively studying and use ef4 in my project. I do feel the improvement that it has over version 1. But I found that I have something I cannot get around easily. Here is a list I want it to be better in ef vNext. the model designer should allow multiple view of the same model, so that I don't need cram all my entity into a single view. respect user's manual edit of edmx. Currently, the some database view object simply can not be imported to the model because the designer "smartly" think that the view does not have a primary key, so that I have to manually edit the edmx to correct designer's behavior. But in the next "update from database" task, designer will revert my customization. For now, I simply fallback to manually edit the edmx file at all, or I have to use compare tool to keep the new update, and rollback and put the new update into my old edmx file manually. Designer should be improved to allow default behavior and user's manual control. I want control not to let the designer refresh the change of imported object. support user defined table function. linq is about Composability, stored proc dos not support composability. I wish I could use user defined table function which support this. What are you wishes for EF vNext?

• IKImageView, Buttons work intermittently in 10.5 but ok in 10.6

  Hi all, In IB,I have connected some buttons to a IKImageView. Using its received Action 'ZoomIn:', 'ZoomOut:','ZoomImageToActualSize:' When I build for 10.6 I have no issues these work as expected. But in 10.5 (ppc), they sometimes work as expected and sometimes do not. I have even tried it programatically. But I get the same results. It is intermittent with each build after I have made some small change in IB that I need. But not changes that should affect how the view acts. The only buttons that seem to work through out are 'ZoomImageToFit' and the rotate ones. When the do not work as expected, I see no change to the current image in the view, but when my app (/s, I have had this issue before in different apps) changes the image The view reflects the last request from a button. So for example when it does not work. An image is displayed, I click the 'ZoomImageToActualSize:' button, nothing happens. I load a new image and it is displayed at Actual size. Example when it does work. An image is displayed, I click the 'ZoomImageToActualSize:' button, It is displayed at Actual size. By the way, I know I can reset the view default , before I load a new image. Also if I run the 10.5 app in 10.6, it works ok, but as above I get intermittent results with the same build on multible 10.5 machines. Does anyone know what is going on, is this a known bug? • Why download popup window in browser not showing up when using JAX-RS v.s. standard servlet?

  When I try using standard servlet approach, in my browser the popup window shows up asking me whether to open .xls file or save it. I tried the exactly same code via JAX-RS and the browser popup won't show up somehow. Has anyone encounter this mystery?   Hey SO, I've got a pretty noob question for ya. I keep seeing this syntax: <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Email) %> ...and I have no idea what the = means. I thought it was syntax for linq2sql or ado.net entity framework but I'm just using straight ado.net. I don't understand why the VWD used that syntax when generating the Create form. What does = mean?

  If my model for Items is: class Item(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=500) startDate = models.DateField("Start Date", unique="true") endDate = models.DateField("End Date") Each Item needs to have a unique date range. for example, if i create an Item that has a date range of June 1st to June 8th, how can I keep and Item with a date range of June 3rd to June 5th from being created (or render an error with template logic)?

  Hi all, I know that I can use annotation or Request mapping to restrict access to an ACTION by some specific ROLES. But now I have a different circumstance. My scenario is: every user of my site can create posts, and they can make their own post public, private, or only share to some other users. I implement sharing post by a database table PERMISSION, which specify if a user have the right to view a post or not. The problem arises here is that when a customer access a post through a direct link, how can I determine he/she have the privilege to view it? There's 3 circumstances: The post is public, so it can be viewed by anyone (include not-login user) The post is private, so only the login-owner can view it The post is sharing, it means only the login-user that is shared and the owner can view it. I want to process like this: If the requested post is public: ok. If the requested post is private/sharing: I want to redirect the customer to the login page; after logging in, the user will be re-direct to the page he wants to see. The problem here is that I can redirect the user to login controller/ auth action, but after that I don't know how to redirect it back. The link to every post is different by post_id, so I can't use SpringSecurityUtils.securityConfig.successHandler.defaultTargetUrl Could anyone know a way to do this?
