I'm using VMWare Fusion to run Windows {OS} on my Mac. How can I access the host machine (my Mac) from the Windows virtual one? I tried localhost but that didn't work.
I found a few hundred of the following errors in my syslog following some configuration changes:
warning: maildir access problem for UID/GID=5000/5000:
create maildir file /home/vmail/domain/account1
/tmp/1273028517.P14666.domain.com: Permission denied
I made a temporary fix for now (the ole' standby, chmod 777), but I would like to know if this is a permanent error (lost mail) or if these are retried/requeued.
Thanks!
Hi,
I dont have a WIndows Server OS. I just have a Windows XP version with me in my system. I want to setup a Git server in my system for secure Http Accessto it from users. How can I do it ?
thanks
I would like to backup my server. For example using dd:
dd if=/dev/md0 of=/some_network_share
I wonder if this image will be vary inconsistent if /dev/md0 is mounted? Would it be possible to convert such dd image to vdi drive and create working virtual machine? Using this command for example:
VBoxManage convertfromraw ImageFile.dd OutputFile.vdi
Network traffic is disabled on firewall (there is only connection to/from one remote machine where image is copied).

I want to insert a CD-ROM and have it automatically be mounted to someplace like /media/cdrom and createan icon on the Gnome desktop, while logged in as a non-root user under SLED 11.
How can I accomplish this?
I setup virtualbox running debian for website development inside of Windows 7. Can I access that webserver running inside the VM from Windows 7? I tried going to 127.0.0.1 and FF said there's no server, so it looks like it's not running automatically.
I'm developing an ADHD management system for myself. Without going into detail (and as silly as it may sound for a grown man to need something like this), I need to build a me-proof service to run on my Windows 7 Ultra laptop. I still need fairly complete accessto the system, though.
How can I set things up so that I'm unable to "easily" (ie. within 3-5 mins without rebooting) stop the service or prevent it from running?
How would one go about creating a heat map (say, of the US) based on location data from Google Analytics? I'd like to somehow create such a map with the visitor data from several websites that use Google Analytics. I'm not really looking for a step-by-step tutorial, just some suggestions on howto start. Assume little to no programming experience, but a willingness to learn and hack together stuff to make it work.
Hi,
We have a webservice running on IIS written in c#.
Lately we've been having this Could not load file or assembly "mycustomlibrary.dll". Access is denied.
It doesn't happen every time on the same assembly. Any pointers to where to look?

I have set up a mercurial repo to be served using apache+wsgi+hgweb on OS X.
It is now completely open to anyone who stumbles upon my server on the correct port number..
How can I set it up so that only people with a username+password pair that I approve can pull and/or push from the repo?
I know howto very easily achieve this using ssh, but in this specific case the requirement is that the solution doesn't require defining full fledged user accounts on the machine for each person whom I'd like to give accessto the repo.
Is it possible tocreate a usb bootable version of Windows 7 just like ubuntu??
I mean boot the actual operating system and not the installer from a usb?
I have installed Jenkins and opened port 8080 on Ubuntu 12.04 server but still can't access Jenkins remotely. Below is the procedures I took.
# Install Jenkins, enable UFW and open port 8080
sudo apt-get install jenkins
sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw allow 8080
sudo ufw reload
# Check the status
sudo ufw status
8080 ALLOW Anywhere

# Locally
curl -I localhost:8080
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: Winstone Servlet Engine v0.9.10
...
# On an external machine
curl -I [ip]:8080
couldn't connect to host
HI. I downloaded Virtual Server R2, but when I try tocreate a Virtual Server from the administrative site, I get the following error message
Could not connect to the Virtual Server on “MyServerName”. Access was denied.
You can specify an alternate Virtual Server below.
I have tried configuring DCOM security but that did not help much. Anyone have a solution please? Thanks in advance
I have a "business package" with 1and1, and currently, any new users I want to give ftp accessto must be uXXXXXXXX-___ where X is a number and _ is whatever I specify. Is it possible to get around the uXXXXXXXX requirement, and set a username to be whatever I want it to be? If that's not possible, what is the reason for having a mandatory prefix like this?
Hi,
I have a user who wants to be a administrator of his work PC, he's made some story up about how he can't work without it so I'm told to "fix it" (as if it is a fault he's logged on as a user!).
My IT co-workers and I don't login as administrators due to viruses/malware getting a foot hold and setting themselves up as servers to distribute an attack (yes this happened in the past).
What is the 'norm' for your network users and how do you handle requests for administrator access?
Thanks
I need tocreate a new mailing list in Exchange 2010 which would consist of about 50 external email addresses. I have the list of (external) email addresses in plain text format.
I have previously solved this task by manually creating an external contact for each email address and then adding those external contacts to a distribution group.
What would be the most efficient way to solve this task with Exchange 2010?
Does EMS help here?
When installing w7 on my macbookpro using fusion, it says 40gb maximum size for the vm drive.

Also, can I change the memory allocated, it default to 1gb.
Can I access my iMac based iTunes library from my iPad over my home wifi? I know I can sync them up but the library is too big.
Edit; just to clear(er), the movies, podcasts etc which are stored on the iMac, I want to watch them on my iPad without syncing. I know I can create playlist to sync a subset of my library, but that is not what I want.
What I'm thinking about is using my iPad as a kind of portable apple TV.
