  • Print a PDF book on line. [closed]

    - by microspino
I'd like to print my PDF copy of "why's poignant guide to ruby" to read It on paper before to sleep. I have several open source book I'd like to print too and some of them are full color. I know about lulu.com but I never had any experience with It. Can you give me some advice with real world proofs about on-line-print-and ship-to-your house services?

  • NSStream sockets missing data

    - by Chris T.
I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms. The following code will show you what is happening. Run with the buffer set to 1024, and you will see a short final string, but once you set it to 1, you will see the amount of data I was expecting (I was even expecting it to be split, so that's not a big worry) #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> //STACK OVERFLOW CODE: @interface stackoverflow : NSObject <NSStreamDelegate> { NSInputStream *iStream; NSOutputStream *oStream; int handshakeCode; NSString *selectedDiscId; NSString *selectedGenre; } -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB; -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command; @end @implementation stackoverflow -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB { NSHost *host = [NSHost hostWithName:@"freedb.freedb.org"]; [NSStream getStreamsToHost:host port:8880 inputStream:&iStream outputStream:&oStream]; [iStream retain]; [oStream retain]; [iStream setDelegate:self]; [oStream setDelegate:self]; [iStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [oStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [iStream open]; [oStream open]; handshakeCode = 0; //not done any processing } -(void)stream:(NSStream *)aStream handleEvent:(NSStreamEvent)eventCode { switch(eventCode) { case NSStreamEventOpenCompleted: { NSLog(@"Stream open completed"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasBytesAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has bytes available"); if (aStream == iStream) { NSMutableString *totalOutput = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@""]; //read data uint8_t buffer[1024]; int len; while ([iStream hasBytesAvailable]) { len = [iStream read:buffer maxLength:sizeof(buffer)]; if (len 0) { NSString *output = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes:buffer length:len encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //this could have also been put into an NSData object if (nil != output) { //append to the total output [totalOutput appendString:output]; } } } NSLog(@"OUTPUT , %i:\n\n%@", [totalOutput lengthOfBytesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], totalOutput); NSArray *outputComponents = [totalOutput componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; //Attempt to get handshake code, since we haven't done it yet: if (handshakeCode == 1) { //we are just getting the sign-on banner: //let's move on: handshakeCode = 2; } else if (handshakeCode == 2) { handshakeCode = [[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue]; if (handshakeCode == 200) { NSLog(@"---Handshake OK %i", handshakeCode); NSMutableString *query = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@"cddb query f3114b11 17 225 19915 36489 54850 69425 87025 103948 123242 136075 152817 178335 192850 211677 235104 262090 284882 308658 4430\n"]; handshakeCode = 3; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; } } else if (handshakeCode == 3) { //now, we are reading out the matches: if ([[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue] == 200) //found exact match: { NSLog(@"Found exact match"); selectedGenre = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:1] ; selectedDiscId = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:2]; if (selectedGenre && selectedDiscId) { //send off the request to get the entry: NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"cddb read %@ %@\n", selectedGenre, selectedDiscId]; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; handshakeCode = 4; } } } } break; } case NSStreamEventEndEncountered: { NSLog(@"Stream event end encountered"); break; } case NSStreamEventErrorOccurred: { NSLog(@"Stream error occurred"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has space available"); if (aStream == oStream) { if (handshakeCode == 0) { handshakeCode = 1; [self sendToOutputStream:@"cddb hello stackoverflow localhost.localdomain test .01BETA\n"]; } } break; } } } -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command { const uint8_t *rawCommand = (const uint8_t *)[command UTF8String]; [oStream write:rawCommand maxLength:strlen(rawCommand)]; NSLog(@"Sent command: %@",command); } @end int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; stackoverflow *test = [[stackoverflow alloc] init]; [test getMatchesFromFreeDB]; NSRunLoop *runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runLoop run]; [pool drain]; return 0; } Any help is much appreciated! • How do I paste into the "crosh" terminal in a Chromebook?

    - by David Faux
I pressed Ctrl + Alt + t while having Chrome open to open a terminal in my Chromebook. How do I paste content into this terminal copied from another tab in Chrome? I have tried Ctrl + v to no avail. I have also tried highlighting text and pasting it via the middle button on my mouse, which failed too. I have also read this article (http://www.servercobra.com/nothing-but-chromebook-for-a-week/) and tried triple clicking my touch pad, but it isn't working for me.

I installed wamp server2 it didn't have password and it had this error below then I went to mysql and set the password for root with this command and I can login using this password but again I can not access phpmyadmin.I restarted the services too. update user.mysql set password=password('root') where user='root'; then i went to config.inc changed the pass to this one: $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'root'; again I restarted and again no result. the phpmyadmin page: Welcome to phpMyAdmin Error MySQL said: Documentation #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. config.inc: <?php /* Servers configuration */ $i = 0; /* Server: localhost [1] */ $i++; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['verbose'] = 'localhost'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'localhost'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['port'] = ''; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['socket'] = ''; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['connect_type'] = 'tcp'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['extension'] = 'mysqli'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'config'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'root'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'root'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['AllowNoPassword'] = true; /* End of servers configuration */ $cfg['DefaultLang'] = 'en-utf-8'; $cfg['ServerDefault'] = 1; $cfg['UploadDir'] = ''; $cfg['SaveDir'] = ''; /* rajk - for blobstreaming */ $cfg['Servers'][$i]['bs_garbage_threshold'] = 50; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['bs_repository_threshold'] = '32M'; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['bs_temp_blob_timeout'] = 600; $cfg['Servers'][$i]['bs_temp_log_threshold'] = '32M'; ?> It was firstly this line $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = ''; setting allow to false and restarting will not change the error either with the help of Erika I understood that it can't read confg.inc file how to make it read from this file?

  • Why is the installation of certain programs always such a pain in Linux [closed]

    - by Saif Bechan
I am new to Linux and I am trying to set up a server. For this I sometimes to need to install special software, but the installation of this is always such a pain. For example I wanted to try the htscanner to see if it did the job for me. When i got to the page there is NO INSTALLATION guide. I had to search for the right one on google. Even on google its a pain to find the right method. Just try it - google search. After a long search and tried different things I finally found out that I had te install some more software before it will work. The website says that the version I used did not had any dependencies. Thats a lie. Release0.8.1: No dependencies registered. You do need certain things for it to work. After managing to set it up it still didn't work I can't figure out why because there is no official guide on the website. So I wanted to just uninstall it and find a better solution. Uninstalling. Uninstalling something in Linux is a real mystery how this actually works. The best answer I got is to manually look for the files and delete them. Whats up with that! There is never something said about uninstalling on the websites. Even on the website of CentOS itself it tels you how to install something like rpmforge packages (it's a miracle they tell you and not have to google it) but there is no mention of what to do when you want to uninstall. Why not? The forums you get on when trying to solve your problem are most of the time in plain text, and you have to scroll trough huge error logs before you see somethings that vaguely resembles your question if you are lucky. The Question My question is if there are any recommended websites / forums that explain the basic concepts of installing and uninstalling software on Linux. And explain other useful operations. And not Wikipedia or the first hits of Google, I have been there already. I am looking for some easy to read trough guides on these operations on Linux. I have been on a lot of websites that explain some Linux operation, but I bet its easier to get a degree in rocket science than to read trough the website and understand what they try to say.

I've tried giving it hay, carrots and sugar cubes, but it's still refusing to do what I ask. I've read on other sites that I may need to reshoe her, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. Thanks for any help.

  • Using gmail as your primary mail server

    - by Saif Bechan
I have read that there is an option of using Gmail as your primary mail server. In the sense that you can add mx records etc and you do not have to do it on your own server. Do you think this is a recommended setup in terms of security. Will Gmail do the fight against virusses, spam, and brute force attacks for you?

  • How do I get squid peers to talk SSL to each other?

    - by Marcelo Cantos
How would I set up a pair of squid proxies so that one uses the other as a parent and all traffic between them is encrypted using SSL? I've read the cache_peer documentation, but it's all very fuzzy to me which certs I need to create (and how), which server uses which cert, and so on. Is there a straightforward HOW-TO for this somewhere? Just to be clear, I don't want to know how to setup squid to proxy https requests, or as a reverse proxy for a web server that uses https.

  • How to make Horde connect to mysql with UTF-8 character set?

    - by jkj
    How to tell horde 3.3.11 to use UTF-8 for it's mysql connection? The $conf['sql']['charset'] only tells horde what is expected from the database. Horde uses MDB2 to connect to mysql. Is there way to force MDB2 or mysql character_set_client from php.ini? So far I found two workarounds: Force mysql to ignore character set requested by client [mysqld] skip-character-set-client-handshake=1 default-character-set=utf8 Force mysql to run SET NAMES utf8 on every connection [mysqld] init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' Both have drawbacks on multi user mysql server. The first disables converting character sets alltogether and the second one forces every connection to produce UTF-8. [EDIT] Found the problem. The 'charset' parameter was unset the last minute before sending to SQL backend. This is probably due to mysql not being able to digest utf-8 but utf8. Mysql specific mapping is required to make it work. I just worked around it by translating utf-8 - utf8. Won't work with any other databases with this patch though. --- lib/Horde/Share/sql.php.orig 2011-07-04 17:09:33.349334890 +0300 +++ lib/Horde/Share/sql.php 2011-07-04 17:11:06.238636462 +0300 @@ -753,7 +753,13 @@ /* Connect to the sql server using the supplied parameters. */ require_once 'MDB2.php'; $params = $this->_params; - unset($params['charset']); + + if ($params['charset'] == 'utf-8') { + $params['charset'] = 'utf8'; + } else { + unset($params['charset']); + } + $this->_write_db = &MDB2::factory($params); if (is_a($this->_write_db, 'PEAR_Error')) { Horde::fatal($this->_write_db, __FILE__, __LINE__); @@ -792,7 +798,13 @@ /* Check if we need to set up the read DB connection seperately. */ if (!empty($this->_params['splitread'])) { $params = array_merge($params, $this->_params['read']); - unset($params['charset']); + + if ($params['charset'] == 'utf-8') { + $params['charset'] = 'utf8'; + } else { + unset($params['charset']); + } + $this->_db = &MDB2::singleton($params); if (is_a($this->_db, 'PEAR_Error')) { Horde::fatal($this->_db, __FILE__, __LINE__);

  • Matlab Image watermarking question , using both SVD and DWT

    - by Georgek
Hello all . here is a code that i got over the net ,and it is supposed to embed a watermark of size(50*20) called _copyright.bmp in the Code below . the size of the cover object is (512*512), it is called _lena_std_bw.bmp.What we did here is we did DWT2 2 times for the image , when we reached our second dwt2 cA2 size is 128*128. You should notice that the blocksize and it equals 4, it is used to determine the max msg size based on cA2 according to the following code:max_message=RcA2*CcA2/(blocksize^2). in our current case max_message would equal 128*128/(4^2)=1024. i want to embed a bigger watermark in the 2nd dwt2 and lets say the size of that watermark is 400*10(i can change the dimension using MS PAINT), what i have to do is change the size of the blocksize to 2. so max_message=4096.Matlab gives me 3 errors and they are : ??? We Have : Exchange 2007 Standard Edition IBM System X3650 2 x Intel Xeon 5430 2.66 GHz Version 8.1 Build 240.6 Mailbox, Hub Transport, Client Access Role Installed on One Box Total Number of Mailboxes : 110 - 130 6 Physical Disks Disk 0,1 (68 GB) = Raid-1, OS Partition ( C: Partition) Disk 2,3 (279GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Database (First and Second Storage Groups) ( D: Partition ) Disk 4,5 (68 GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Transaction Logs ( E: Partition ) Setup: Storage Groups : D:\First Storage group\Mailbox database.edb Storage Groups : D:\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database.edb Transaction Logs : E Partition Problem 1: On our D Partition (Mailbox Database Partition), total size is 279 GB, free space remaining is 64.7 GB, when I select the first storage group and second storage group folders and right click properties they report a size of 165 GB. Mailbox database reports a size of 157GB when right clicked Properties. where as the size displayed in the folder is 164,893,456 KB So, we are missing around 50-54 GB, there is nothing else on these drives, no page file, nothing at all. The partition housing the Transaction logs is reporting the sizes accurately. Any suggestions / fixes on the above ? Problem 2: As you may have already read in Problem 1, the size of the mailbox database is 157GB or 164GB reported; which is not recommended, a) What would you suggest we should do to divide mailboxes in storage groups on this same server ? b) How would we move mailboxes into different storage groups ? c) This is the information store size ? (Am I right in thinking that this is not recommended) d) Having multiple storage groups with one Mailbox DB in each, would that reduce the size of the Information Store? e) Any suggestions / how-to reduce the size of information store ? We didn't install this, we have inherited this - what other recommendations you can make in order to keep ourselves better prepared for any server disaster? We are backing up with Yosemite Backup on RD1000 (320GB) at the moment, which is backing up successfully, flushing the logs daily. We haven't done a test restore YET. I have tried to provide as much info as possible, please let me know if you need further info. Also, we haven't yet faced any problems in mailflow, access speeds, everything is working fine, we have two to five people accessing OWA or Outlook via vpn only. Thanks for your time to read the above - will look forward to your expert suggestions.
