• MySQL doesn't talk to PHP anymore (EasyPHP)

  I've just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (64 bit) I was using EasyPHP 5.3.1 to develop my website, but since I've upgraded I can't get PHP to talk to MySQL. Even the PHPMyAdmin page doesn't load. I've tried installing the latest 64bit version of MySQL in place of the supplied version of MySQL, but that hasn't helped. The queries just don't seem to reach MySQL. I have verified that the DB for my database works by running mysql on the command line. PHPMyAdmin doesn't display an error, just a blank page. The error coming up from my website is: Warning: PDO::__construct() [pdo.--construct]: [2002] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not (trying to connect via tcp://localhost:3306) in E:\services\EasyPHP-5.3.1\www\IdeaWeb\classes\Security.inc on line 14 Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in E:\services\EasyPHP-5.3.1\www\IdeaWeb\classes\Security.inc on line 0 Does anyone know how to solve this? • What are some good Screencasting Programs with Streaming?

  The situation is that I work for a small college, and we have a student who will legitimately not be able to attend some classes for the next few weeks. Most of our professors use either powerpoint or a smartboard, and so we're shuffling things around so that all her classes take place in only two rooms. We want to set up those rooms to be able to live screencast (with audio) each lecture. I've seen other similar questions, but they're all more geared towards recording demos. I'm looking for something more like Live Meeting. Any suggestions appreciated.

  I am trying to write a beautify CSS command in vim that sorts and alphabetizes all of the CSS properties as well as checks to see if there is not a space after the colon and inserts one. • serving static file from cookieless domain: alternative cookieless directory

  I'm trying to follow all the guidelines of "Google Page Speed??". The directive "Minimize request overhead" requires static content (images, js, css, etc.) on a static server (ie cookieless): https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/best-practices/request I do not want to buy a new server and I was thinking of just setting a directory of my site without cookie with htaccess www.mysite.com/static/.htaccess Header unset Cookie Header unset Set-Cookie I do not know if it can be problematic. Looking on google it seems that no one ever has adopted this type of solution, so I think that it is incorrect. • Open Source Scheduling Software?

  Hi Everyone, I'm looking for scheduling software to schedule 25 people over 8 work sites. Most are FT and can work up to 40 hours a week, but some are part-time and can only work certain days of the week and up to a certain number of hours a week. There are 3 classes of employees: Managers, Supervisors, and Workers. They should be shuffled so that they spend approximately equal time at each of the 8 work sites and with all classes of employees; i.e., Joe the worker should spend about 1 out of 8 days on each work site, and work with managers, supervisors, and other workers equally. I tried to do this in excel with the solver, but the shuffling requirement makes it way too complicated, so I'm stuck trying to do big parts of this manually with the solver helping out with just the hour provisioning piece. Is there any open source software that could help me? Much appreciated! KA

The value of this 'command' key apparently can be any valid command line. I want to know which 'special variables' are available for use inside this command line.   I'm trying to add a query that will match a request that ends with a slash, like this one: n.n.n.n - - [16/Oct/2013:16:40:41 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 25058 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 7_0_2 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11A501 Safari/9537.53" I'm using the Lucene query type. If my query is set to *, I see the event. If I set it to request:"css", I see CSS requests, as expected. However, all of the following yield no results: request:"/" request:"\/" request:"\\/" I tried a Lucene regular expression, with no luck: request:/\// I note that someone else is getting what appears to be a similar issue, although that's on Kibana 2: https://github.com/rashidkpc/Kibana/issues/401 How can I query for requests that end with a / character?

• Fonts doesn't render in Chrome or IE in Windows Server 2008

  When I visit, for example, http://www.bolagsverket.se from a user account on this Windows 2008 Server, Chrome displays the site but all the text is gone. When I try in IE it's even worse, it doesn't even load the page, I jsut end up with this: http://dl.pixelstore.se/image/0y1f0y0w1J39 The fonts used for this site is (from CSS): font-family:Frutiger,Frutiger Linotype,Univers,DejaVu Sans Condensed,Liberation Sans,Nimbus Sans L,Geneva,Helvetica Neue,Helvetica,Arial,Tahoma,sans-serif If I edit the CSS through Chrome Developer Tools, and erase all fonts until Arial it suddenly works. The strange thing is that everything works fine from the administrator account, it's just (all) the user accounts that doesn't work. My guess is that Chrome/IE is asking for the fonts but somehow they are restricted in the user account. Instead of just ignoring the fonts they can't find they try to render them anyway. Any clue?

• Plesk directory structure problems

  I have an entire website with the following directory structure: /example.com /html (public) /css /js index.php /lib session.php other_lib_files.php /views index.php /models /controllers As illustrated, the html is public, and anything above it is private. My site now needs to upgrade servers, and the new server (Linux w/ Plesk) has the following structure (reduced to the problematic parts below): /myplesksite.com /httpdocs /css /js index.php /private /lib /models /views What I would THINK is that I should be able to put my /lib, /views, /models, etc in the directory directly above /httpdocs, the same way I had it in my previous server. Is that possible? Or do I have to put it in private? I would really love not to have to adjust my internal paths throughout the site if not necessary...

• More than one XP Mode virtual machines okay under Win 7?

  I really like the Windows XP Mode virtual machine that comes with Windows 7 (once you download the integration components). I teach technical training classes, and having a machine configured for the classroom is very helpful. My question is, can I configure more than one? The documentation suggests you can make multiple virtual machines, but I can't tell if I can have multiple "Windows XP Mode" VMs. It can't be as simple as configuring one, then just making a copy of the primary disk file, could it? I only plan to run one at a time, but I'd like to configure multiple different VMs for different classes, all running XP if possible. Thanks for any help!

• Random users randomly being unable to connect to my static content domain

  I store all of my images, js, and css files on a separate domain to try and speed up page load times (it isn't a CDN, just a separate domain on the same server). This works fine for 99% of the users, 99% of the time. However, there are users that randomly are unable to connect to the static content domain for periods of 1-5 hours. They can go to the main site, but no images will load and everything is just white because no css is being loaded. If they go to the static content domain itself, the page just idles for a while and then times out with a blank white page, no error messages. I have no idea what could be causing this, and it hasn't happened to me, any ideas? I am running Apache on CentOS 5.5.

• Apache ProxyPass ignore static files

  Having an issue with Apache front server connecting to a Jetty application server. • Chrome developer tools - network panel gaps

  In the Chrome developer tools, under the network tab, I'm curious to know what is happening during the gaps. If you look at my image below, I have highlighted in orange the areas where these gaps exist. Where I'm able to load a lot of my page from cache it's a shame these large gaps occur as they make up most of my page load time. What exactly is happening in this time? EDIT Okay I found this answer which essentially sums up my question, so a different question: does anyone know a good method to reduce the length of these gaps? Presumably (albeit rather extreme) if I loaded all my CSS on the page there wouldn't be a delay after loading the CSS file before the images were loaded.

• Save a single web page (with background images) with Wget

  I want to use Wget to save single web pages (not recursively, not whole sites) for reference. Much like Firefox's "Web Page, complete". My first problem is: I can't get Wget to save background images specified in the CSS. Even if it did save the background image files I don't think --convert-links would convert the background-image URLs in the CSS file to point to the locally saved background images. Firefox has the same problem. My second problem is: If there are images on the page I want to save that are hosted on another server (like ads) these wont be included. --span-hosts doesn't seem to solve that problem with the line below. I'm using: wget --no-parent --timestamping --convert-links --page-requisites --no-directories --no-host-directories -erobots=off http://domain.tld/webpage.html

• Nohup & Sass: Process keeps running but, after a while, *.scss files do not get compiled

  I am using Sass on a CentOS 5.8 server and want it to keep running after SSH logout, so that other users can edit *.scss files for days or even weeks to come without any need to start the program each time they login (in fact, they don't even have SSH access). I have used the following command from this question/answer: $ nohup sass --watch path/to/scss/files:path/to/css/output/files & Then, I log out of the SSH session and the process keeps running. It all works fine (logging in again and using touch to create a test file (test.scss) correctly triggers the creation of the corresponding test.css file) for the first few minutes, but after a while the *.scss files stop getting compiled... However, ps aux | grep 'sass' Shows that the process is still running. Anybody knows what am I doing wrong?

• how do I setup Apache's Content-Encoding Header?

  When attempting to validate my site with the W3C validator, it returns the error, "Don't know how to decode Content-Encoding 'none'". Firebug confirms that my server is sending the header, "Content-Encoding: none". But I can't find any directive in apache2.conf or in my vhost that sets the Content-Encoding header. Where does the directive go, and what should it be set to? UPDATE: On further examination it seems something is wrong with mod_deflate (gzip). It's zipping my css files just fine, but is not zipping the html generated by my php scripts. I have: AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css And the pages are showing a mime type of: "text/html". But content encoding is "none" and they aren't zipping. Perhaps these issues are related?

• Linux QoS: bulk data transmission during idle times

  How would I do a QoS setup where a certain low-priority data stream would get up to X Mbps of bandwidth, but only if the current total bandwidth (of all streams/classes) on this interface does not exceed X? At the same time, other data streams / classes must not be limited to X. The use case is an ISP billing the traffic by calculating the bandwidth average over 5 minute intervals and billing the maximum. I would like to keep the maximum usage to a minimum (i.e. quench the bulk transfer during interface busy times) but get the data through during idle/low traffic times. Looking at the frequently used classful schedulers CBQ, HTB and HSFC I cannot see a straightforward way to accomplish this.

• VM Build XML file fails to validate against OVF 1.0 schema

  For our product, we were trying to generate VM / vApp build XML from java code. For this purpose, we were using XML Beans. When we tried to generate JAVA classes for OVF envelope for 0.9 (ovf-envelope.xsd in schemas/ovf) it was successful. However these schemas does not allow us to add IPassignment section which is available in OVF 1.0. When we tried to compile 1.0 schema (ovfenv-vmware.xsd in schemas/ovf1.0.0e/vmware folder), we get validation errors. When we loaded this schema in schema editor we could see some validation errors. First error we saw was following: When we loaded ovfenv-vmware.xsd in XMLspy we could see following validation error in dsp8027.xsd - "cos-nonambig: makes the content model non-deterministic against . Possible causes: name equality, overlapping occurrence or substitution groups." Same error was also thrown by xmlbean while generating java classes from ovfenv-vmware.xsd. Is there any workaround for this problem?

To make everything worse, I just started using Amazon's Elastic Load Balancer, so I added the certificate to the ELB and now SSL encryption is happening three times. That's gotta be horrible for performance. What is the sane way to handle this? Should I be forwarding https on the ELB - http on nginx - http on apache? Secondly, there is so much duplication above. Is the best method to not repeat myself to put all of the static asset handling in an include file and just include it in the server?

We use SqlStateServer to store the Session of the user. right now we are doing performance tuning in our application, so we decided to cache the static Content(images, css, js) for the applicaiton. so that it loads faster. Is it Good to cache the static content in Sticky Session ? • Adding cygwin on right click on windows explorer

  I wish to add a command on right click menu in explorer that opens current directory with cygwin. For same I have successfully added these registries: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\classes\directory\shell\cygwin] @="c:\\cygwin\\bin\\bash.exe --login -i -c \"cd '%1'; bash\"" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\classes\drive\shell\cygwin] @="c:\\cygwin\\bin\\bash.exe --login -i -c \"cd '%1'; bash\"" but this adds the command only when on some folder or drive. I want generic right click on explorer, on which, search gives me this registry to edit: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\cygwin] @="c:\\cygwin\\bin\\bash.exe --login -i -c \"cd '%1'; bash\"" My problem lies with the value of the key, which doesnt work on %1 but on some static value like /cygdrive/c Could someone please tell me the proper way to pass current directory to the command, also please refer me some basic and advanced pages for same.
