  • error working with wsdl files in visual studio 2008

    Hi. I got a wsdl file in email. At first I didn't know how to use it. I've simply saved the file to my disk. Opened visual studio...added a service reference...provided path to file, and service was discovered. I opened the object browser to see the types and methods that got imported. I figure anything that ends with the name 'Client' is a good place to start using the web service. I've tried using a simple method to get data but it has run into and expception. Need help in resolving it.     Hi All, I am learning indesign, I have a doubt in story splitting... I want to split the story if the same story is used in two different text frames, I am extracting idml file and getting the needed data. My question is, I have a single story which is used by two text frames (Threaded text), and these two textframes are available in two different spreads. Story.xml contains full story, half of the story is displayed in 1st textframe, next half is displayed in 2nd textframe and the same story ID is referred in both the textframes. Now I want to split this story into two, so I want to know that how much content of the story is added in 1st and 2nd textframe, I think if I find that how many characters or words or lines present in each textframe then it will easy to split the story. We can determine the word and character count using the following steps in indesign CS4 Place the insertion point in a text frame to view counts for the entire thread of frames (the story), or select text to view counts only for the selected text. Choose Window Info to display the Info panel. Is there any property or attribute in idml (xml files like prefrence.xml or story.xml or spread.xml) to find out the number of characters/words/lines of single textframe. Can anyone help me to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

  • Why is XmlSerializer so hard to use?

    I imagine to use XML serialization like this: class Foo { public Foo (string name) { Name1 = name; Name2 = name; } [XmlInclude] public string Name1 { get; private set; } [XmlInclude] private string Name2; } StreamWriter wr = new StreamWriter("path.xml"); new XmlSerializer<Foo>().Serialize (wr, new Foo ("me")); But this does not work at all: XmlSerializer is not generic. I have to cast from and to object on (de)serialization. Every property has to be fully public. Why aren't we just using Reflection to access private setters? Private fields cannot be serialized. I'd like to decorate private fields with an attribute to have XmlSerializer include them. Did I miss something and XmlSerializer is actually offering the described possibilities? Are there alternate serializers to XML that handle these cases more sophisticatedly? If not: We're in 2010 after all, and .NET has been around for many years. XML serialization is often used, totally standard and should be really easy to perform. Or is my understanding possibly wrong and XML serialization ought not to expose the described features for a good reason? (Feel free to adjust caption or tags. If this should be CW, please just drop a note.)

  • How do I access variables with hyphenated names in Smarty?

    I've got a PHP page that parses an XML file with SimpleXml, then passes that object to a Smarty template. My problem is that the XML file has hyphens in its tag names, e.g. video-player. In PHP, this is no problem, I just use $xml->{'video-player'} and everything's fine. Smarty, on the other hand, throws a fit when I try to use that syntax. The only solution I've come up with so far is to use a variable to store the name, e.g., { assign var=name value="video-player" } { $xml->$name } But this isn't terribly graceful to say the least. Is there another, better, approach to referring to a hyphenated variable name in Smarty?

    I have a perl script (or any executable) E which will take a file foo.xml and write a file foo.txt. I use a Beowulf cluster to run E for a large number of XML files, but I'd like to write a simple job server script in shell (bash) which doesn't overwrite existing txt files. I'm currently doing something like #!/bin/sh PATTERN="[A-Z]*0[1-2][a-j]"; # this matches foo in all cases todo=`ls *.xml | grep $PATTERN -o`; isdone=`ls *.txt | grep $PATTERN -o`; whatsleft=todo - isdone; # what's the unix magic? #tack on the .xml prefix with sed or something #and then call the job server; jobserve E "$whatsleft"; and then I don't know how to get the difference between $todo and $isdone. I'd prefer using sort/uniq to something like a for loop with grep inside, but I'm not sure how to do it (pipes? temporary files?) As a bonus question, is there a way to do lookahead search in bash grep? To clarify: so the simplest way to do what i'm asking is (in pseudocode) for i in `/bin/ls *.xml` do replace xml suffix with txt if [that file exists] add to whatsleft list end done

  • XmlSerializer throws exception when serializing dynamically loaded type

    Hi I'm trying to use the System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer to serialize a dynamically loaded (and compiled class). If I build the class in question into the main assembly, everything works as expected. But if I compile and load the class from an dynamically loaded assembly, the XmlSerializer throws an exception. What am I doing wrong?   • WCF web service Data Members defaulting to null

    I am new to WCF and created a simple REST service to accept an order object (series of strings from XML file), insert that data into a database, and then return an order object that contains the results. To test the service I created a small web project and send over a stream created from an xml doc. The problem is that even though all of the items in the xml doc get placed into the stream, the service is nullifying some of them when it receives the data. For example lineItemId will have a value but shipment status will show null. I step through the xml creation and verify that all the values are being sent. However, if I clear the datamembers and change the names around, it can work. Any help would be appreciated. I have pieced together an approach from several sources (see below). In short, I am trying to locate the title node and add a meta node after it (in the HTML head node). But, I get an access violation.   • Why are error pages ignored in RESTEasy web service running on Tomcat?

    I'm developing a REST-ful web service using RESTEasy deployed on Tomcat. I've configured an error page which takes the exception's message and generates an XML based on it when any exception occurs during the request. This works fine for any application generated exceptions. However, if client sends an invalid XML which cannot be unmarshalled correctly, an javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException is thrown and Tomcat's default error page is used instead of mine. I have configured my error page to the error-code 500 in web.xml. Is using error pages the correct way to handle errors when using RESTEasy or is there an alternative way?

    I've read Head First Java, and I understand how OOP works. Here's my problem: I'm a PHP programmer, and while I've used OOP in PHP, I'm having trouble figuring out what should be an object and what methods to give it. For example, let's say I have a app that allows people to log in and edit a document. Why should the document be an object if there will ever only be one instance? Should I give the deleteDocument() method to the document object or the admin object? The document is the one being deleted, but the admin is the one performing the action. So my real question is, coming from a procedural background, how do I figure out what should be objects and what should have what methods?
