Oracle CRM in the UK- Gartner CRM Summit 2010

We are now headed to the UK to co-sponsor and participate in the Gartner Customer Relationship Management Summit 2010 on the 16th and 17th of March in London. Oracle CRM Vice President Mark Woollen will be presenting on Tuesday, 16 March 2010 from 15:20-15:50 on CRM is dead, long live CRM? Everyone is saying the world has changed and with it a new set of acronyms/buzzwords/vendors etc have appeared. What does this really mean for CRM software? Is it Dead or Alive? Listen to Mark’s view from Oracle and its customers. Location- Westbourne 2, Level –1. Also stop by the Oracle booth at the demogrounds. The event looks promising with some great content from the Gartner analysts and from what the Gartner folks just told me, the event is oversold. And the weather in London town? As expected…slight showers on Monday with a high of 49 degrees F and partly cloudy on Tuesday, with a high of 50 degrees F.

Unknown and strange RDP successful logins in EventViewer

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with a valid IP, and recently I've found hundreds of unknown and strange RDP successful logins logged in EventViewer. Here are some details: They are not similar to normal logins, they happen like every second in a while even when I myself am logged in to the server. Event reads "Remote Desktop Services: User authentication succeeded" in "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager/Operational", Event ID 1149 They seem to use some random user accounts without a domain name. I'm pretty sure that I don't have those local user accounts, and the server doesn't belong to any domain. Legitimate RDP logins have a valid user account and workgroup name, but those logins use unknown user names without any workgroup. Support staff couldn't help me and I'm very curious what are these strange logins. Are they some sort of brute force attack? so why does it read "Successful"? Am I being hacked? Why do they keep happening continually?

Unexpected server restart - Windows 2003 SP2 fully patched

I'm having problems with a server that has been restarting itself randomly for the past 3 months. The server is windows 2003 with SP2 Domain Controller and it is fully patched. I have seen the following errors in event log: Source: USER32 Category: None Type: Information Event ID: 1074 User: Domain\Administrator The process winlogon.exe has initiated the restart of computer (server name) on behalf of user domainname\Administrator for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found Reason Code: 0x840000ff Shutdown Type: restart I have ran out of ideas as to what might be causing this issue. The system is clean and not infected. There are no scheduled tasks responsible for the restart either. I'm considering moving the backup (Backup Exec 12.5) to a different server but I'm almost certain that this is not the issue as the restart times vary and do not match the scheduled backup jobs. Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue would be appreciated, thanks.

lsyncd + csync2 : cluster of 3 or more nodes

I've got 3 (and potentially more) web servers hosting the same content (fronted by a load balancer). Thus, I need to make sure that files on these web servers are the same. It appears that csync2 in combination with lsyncd is able to do synchronize a cluster of nodes, but according to this article there's a problem with cyclic events in such a setup. In other words, the author writes that a file change on one machine would trigger a replication event to other machines, which again would trigger a replication event back to the original machine. It appears that this is a consequence of the setup which uses lsyncd (and inotify) to catch file modification events and from there trigger csync2 to replicate the file tree. Does anyone have experience with lsyncd in combination with csync2. Have you had trouble with cyclic events?

Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010 Public Folder Replication

We have 2 exchange servers in our org. MX1 and MX2. I'm trying to replicate all MX1 public folders to MX2. I've setup replication for all the toplevel folders to include the MX2 server. However no public folders are being replicated. The event log does not show any errors. I've set the diagnostic level for all public folder diagnostics to Highest using get-eventloglevel "MSExchangeIS\9001 Public\*" | set-eventloglevel -Level Expert However besides a 3092 event ID (type: 0x2) generated on MX1 (the source server), there are no events being generated that would notify me of any issues. Some technical details. MX1 is Windows 2008 Standard, MX2 is Windows 2008 Enterprise (eval mode right now).

MOSS 2007 SP2 - Error while provisioning SSP.

This is a brand new installation I am trying to provision the first SSP for MOSS and I keep getting the following error: (Provisioning failed: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)) The error also keeps appearing in the Application Event Log as event ID 7888. Google searches tell me its a connection between the Sharepoint server and the SQL server however, this is a production SQL Server which has several databases on it that do not experience any problems. These databases also include the Central Admin and Web Application databases for Sharepoint which are all working fine. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does a manually initiated crash (bugcheck 0xdeaddead) trigger a disk-check?

Windows has an advanced function built-in that lets a user manually initiate a BSOD. It is a debugging tool used to halt the system in the event of (though not necessarily limited to) a hang or freeze. When used, it causes a BSOD with the string MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH1 and whimsical code 0xDEADDEAD. The point to this crash is that it is purposely done by the user, so it is not (or at least should not) be an unpredictable event caused by hardware errors or bad drivers (at least not necessarily bad drivers). The question then is whether performing a manual crash properly flushes the disk caches and such so that the drive is in a valid state when rebooting and thus forgoing the need to have chkdsk run.

Another sound not working post

Oracle B2B 11g - Transport Layer Acknowledgement

In Health Care Industry,Acknowledgement or Response should be sent back very fast. Once any message received, Acknowledgement should be sent back to TP. Oracle B2B provides a solution to send acknowledgement or Response from transport layer of mllp that is called as immediate acknowledgment. Immediate acknowledgment is generated and transmitted in the transport layer. It is an alternative to the functional acknowledgment, which generates after processing/validating the data in document layer. Oracle B2B provides four types of immediate acknowledgment: Default: Oracle B2B parses the incoming HL7 message and generates an acknowledgment from it. This mode uses the details from incoming payload and generate the acknowledgement based on incoming HL7 message control number, sender and application identification. By default, an Immediate ACK is a generic ACK. Trigger event can also sent back by using Map Trigger Event property. If mapping the MSH.10 of the ACK with the MSH.10 of the incoming business message is required, then enable the Map ACK Control ID property. Simple: B2B sends the predefined acknowledgment message to the sender without parsing the incoming message. Custom: Custom immediate Ack/Response mode gives a user to define their own response/acknowledgement. This is configurable using file in the Custom Immediate ACK File property. Negative: In this case, immediate ACK will be returned only in the case of exceptions.

Windows 7 Complete PC Backup - Fails with error code: 0x80070002

While doing a Complete PC Backup in Windows 7 I received dialog reading: Windows Backup...error The backup did not complete successfully. Open the Backup and Restore Control Panel to view settings From there I clicked the Options button. Windows Backup: Troubleshooting Options Check your backup Windows Backup encountered invalid MediaID.bin file on the drive where the backup is saved. Restore from a different backup or delete the MediaID.bin file and try to create another backup. The MediaID.bin file can be found under \MediaID.Bin & \\MediaId.Bin. I deleted the file in question (MediaID.bin) from X:\ (one of the drives being backedup( and tried the backup again. Next I was presented with a dialog that read: Windows Backups: Troubleshooting Options Check your backup The system connot find the file specified. I'm currently trying the backup again, but this time I unchecked all of the user's profiles and opted only to backup the two drives X: and C: on to E:\ I'll let you know what happens. Any ideas?

Ubuntu 12.04 doesn't recgonize m CPU correctly

My computer is running ubuntu 12.04 (64bit), and I have a AMD Athlon(tm) X4 760K Quad Core Processor which is about 3.8ghz (and an Radeon HD 7770 GPU). XML files are text-based documents, which makes them easy to read. All of the data is literally spelled out in the document and relies on a just a few characters (<, >, =) to convey relationships and structure of the data. XML files can be used by any commonly available text editor, like Notepad. Should interfaces inherit interfaces

Although this is a general question it is also specific to a problem I am currently experiencing. I currently have an interface specified in my solution called public interface IContextProvider { IDataContext { get; set; } IAreaContext { get; set; } } This interface is often used throughout the program and hence I have easy access to the objects I need. However at a fairly low level of a part of my program I need access to another class that will use IAreaContext and perform some operations off it. So I have created another factory interface to do this creation called: public interface IEventContextFactory { IEventContext CreateEventContext(int eventId); } I have a class that implements the IContextProvider and is injected using NinJect. The problem I have is that the area where I need to use this IEventContextFactory has access to the IContextProvider only and itself uses another class which will need this new interface. I don't want to have to instantiate this implementation of IEventContextFactory at the low level and would rather work with the IEventContextFactory interface throughout. However I also don't want to have to inject another parameter through the constructors just to have it passed through to the class that needs it i.e. // example of problem public class MyClass { public MyClass(IContextProvider context, IEventContextFactory event) { _context = context; _event = event; } public void DoSomething() { // the only place _event is used in the class is to pass it through var myClass = new MyChildClass(_event); myClass.PerformCalculation(); } } So my main question is, would this be acceptable or is it even common or good practice to do something like this (interface inherit another an interface): public interface IContextProvider : IEventContextFactory or should I consider better alternatives to achieving what I need. If I have not provided enough information to give suggestions let me know and I can provide more.

The program theme at the June America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Exchange Conference and AHIP’s Institute 2013 was Transforming Our Health Care System: Navigating and Succeeding in the New Marketplace. Topics included care delivery transformation, innovation for a new healthcare eco system, Health Insurance Exchanges, the nexus of consumerism, retail and healthcare, driving value through improved operations and leveraging technology, data and innovation to transform care. Oracle participated as a sponsor of both conferences, signaling the significant investment and activity Oracle continues to make in helping health plans, providers and government agencies become more efficient and more relevant in the healthcare market place. AHIP is a national trade association representing the health insurance industry. AHIP’s members provide health and supplemental benefits to more than 200 million Americans through employer-sponsored coverage, the individual insurance market and public programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. AHIP advocates for public policies that expand access to affordable health care. Health plans are focusing on the Health Insurance Exchanges and the opportunities they offer to provide better access and higher quality healthcare. With the opportunities come operational challenges to implementation and innovative technology solutions to consider. At the Exchange Conference, Oracle hosted a breakfast symposium on “Strategies for Success: Driving Business Transformation in the Growing Health Insurance Exchange Market”. Piyush Pushkar, COO of Benefitalign, an Oracle partner that provides solutions to adopt innovative business models for retail, HIX, consumer-centric health plan and benefits administration, spoke on the state of the Exchanges in the U.S. and the activities health plans are engaged in to support individuals entering the healthcare system, including sales automation, member enrollment automation/portals and integration strategies with the Exchanges. The Oracle and Benefitalign partnership allows seamless integration between a health plan enrollment solution with the HIX individual market and allows for the health plan to customize and characterize the offerings available to the HIX that may or may not be available through other channels. This approach can benefit the health plan through separation of interests, but also because some state-run HIXs require such separation. Janice W. Young, Program Director, Payer IT Strategies, IDC Health Insights, reviewed a survey of health plans on their investment priorities for this last year as well as this year. She also identified the 2013-2015 strategies of go/get to market with front end and compliance investments; leveraging existing business processes and internal technologies; and establishing best practices. Of key interest to the audience was a reform era payer solutions platform overview mapping technologies to support the business operations. Resolving System Restore error - Error 0x800423F3 - The writer experienced a transient error

System restore just stopped working, when I needed it most. (tried diff restore points... same error). Now everytime I run system-restore, it fails with the above error message. I cleared the event logs and retried to isolate the relevant events. I see 5 warnings and 1 info event from VSS and 1 error from System Restore. Testing Routes in ASP.NET MVC with MvcContrib

I've decide to write about unit testing in the next weeks. If we decide to develop with Test-Driven Developement pattern, it's important to not forget the routes. This article shows how to test routes. I'm importing my routes from my RegisterRoutes method from the Global.asax of Project.Web created by default (in SetUp). I'm using ShouldMapTp() from MvcContrib: http://mvccontrib.codeplex.com/ The controller is specified in the ShouldMapTo() signature, and we use lambda expressions for the action and parameters that are passed to that controller. Ubuntu-one syncs single files, but not directories [closed]

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, fully updated. I have tried to sync my ~/Documents and ~/Pictures folders; U1 replicates the directory structure, but no files are uploaded. Next I tried to sync a single file inside ~/Ubuntu One and it was synced. Then I tried to put a directory inside ~/Ubuntu One and, again, the directory structure was replicated, but no files were synced. All the files have the "syncing" icon, however.
