    When the return button on the keyboard for a textfield is tapped I want to add a UIView, then connect to a website with NSURlConnection sendsynchronousrequest and I have the code in that order But when I run in the simulator (I can't run on device) the connection is run first then the subview is added (ie the opposite of the order of the code) Why is this and how can stop it, because I want the view to added, then the connection done and then the view removed.

  • Unfortunately App stopped when destroying SupportMapFragment

    I have the following problem. I have three fragments which are hosted in a TabHost. When I'm working with the app everything works fine. Now I like to end the app when the user hits the back button. Instead of terminating without errors I get the message Unfortunately App stopped. Then I said to myself something is wrong with the onDestroy() method of the FragmentActivity or with the onDestroyView method() of the Fragment. The problem is I cannot debug the point where the app crash. I get only the error:Fatal signal 11 (SIGSEGV). I then removed one by one each Fragment to identify which fragment causes the error. I could identify the fragment that I named BasicMapFragment. Something is wrong there. The code: public class BasicMapFragment extends SupportMapFragment implements LocationListener { @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) { View view = super.onCreateView(inflater, container, savedInstanceState); //removeAllMarkers(); //setupGps(); //setupMap(); //setupMarkersFromModel(); //registerListeners(); return view; } } I commented out all my self written code to isolate the place where the error occurs. @Override public void onDestroy() { Log.d("ch.xxx.fragment.BasiceMapFragment", "On destroy called"); super.onDestroy(); } public void onDestroyView() { Log.d("ch.xxx.fragment.BasiceMapFragment", "On destroy view called"); super.onDestroyView(); } When I press the back button now the onDestroy() method of my FragmentActivity is first called like expected.   • When an active_record is saved, is it saved before or after its associated object(s)?

    In rails, when saving an active_record object, its associated objects will be saved as well. But has_one and has_many association have different order in saving objects. I have three simplified models: class Team < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :players has_one :coach end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end class Coach < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end I use the following code to test these models: t = Team.new team.coach = Coach.new team.save! team.save! returns true. But in another test: t = Team.new team.players << Player.new team.save! team.save! gives the following error: > ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: > Validation failed: Players is invalid I figured out that when team.save! is called, it first calls player.save!. player needs to validate the presence of the id of the associated team. But at the time player.save! is called, team hasn't been saved yet, and therefore, team_id doesn't yet exist for player. This fails the player's validation, so the error occurs. But on the other hand, team is saved before coach.save!, otherwise the first example will get the same error as the second one. So I've concluded that when a has_many bs, a.save! will save bs prior to a. When a has_one b, a.save! will save a prior to b. If I am right, why is this the case? It doesn't seem logical to me. Why do has_one and has_many association have different order in saving? Any ideas? And is there any way I can change the order? Say I want to have the same saving order for both has_one and has_many.   • Unable to use getInt() but able to use getString() for a sqlite database

    I am using a cursor to access a sqlite database I have in my app. I am having trouble using the .getInt() on my database. My database is pre-created, and I have a few cursors that perform queries to interface with the information. Several of the columns in one of the tables are set as INTEGER type. I realize that sqlite has no built in check to make sure columns are indeed INT. However, when retrieving the data, I can use the .getString() function without any issues, but calling .getInt() causes the app to crash. Below is the relevant code. If I am missing anything, please let me know, and I'll add it in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.   • Calling a webservice synchronously from a Silverlight 3 application?

    I am trying to reuse some .NET code that performs some calls to a data-access-layer type service. I have managed to package up both the input to the method and the output from the method, but unfortunately the service is called from inside code that I really don't want to rewrite in order to be asynchronous. Unfortunately, the webservice code generated in Silverlight only produces asynchronous methods, so I was wondering if anyone had working code that managed to work around this? I tried the recipe found here: The Easy Way To Synchronously Call WCF Services In Silverlight, but unfortunately it times out and never completes the call. Or rather, what seems to happen is that the completed event handler is called, but only after the method returns. I am suspecting that the event handler is called from a dispatcher or similar, and since I'm blocking the main thread here, it never completes until the code is actually back into the GUI loop. Or something like that. Does anyone know: ... if it is possible at all in Silverlight 3 ... what I have done wrong above?

  • How would I add an if statement into MSQLI query?

    Okay so I'm just learning mysqli and I'm having a little trouble putting this code together. I've posted the mysqli query below and then below that is the code I'm trying to combine with the mysqli query and I can't seem to get it to work.     This simple query throws the "Ambiguous column name TaskID" error on one db-server only. This is ridiculous. We tested this with the same database structure on different servers and different versions of ms sql (2005/2008), and it's only THIS particular client's server that throws the error. I'm actually frustrated.
