  • tabBarController popToRooTViewControler

    - by Jacob
    Every time a user changes a tab, for the selected tab I want to push it to its top level controller. I have implemented the delegate method for the Tabbarcontroller like this: - (void) tabBarControler:(UITabBarController )tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController)viewController{ [[self navigationController] popToRootViewController Animated:NO]; } This does nto seem to work but I can confirm the method is being called every time I change tabs

  • SBS 2003 R2 install errors

    - by piagetblix
    I just installed sbs2003 R2 as a learning lab box on my home network. The install seemed to take quit a while with a bit of shuffling between disks 4 and 5. The continue setup checklist showed the red x besides the exchange install and finally gave me an error about the "schema needing extending run, forest /adprep" and told me at the end that the install did not succeed. After a longer than normal reboot it comes up and seems to be OK. What logs do i need to check to see what went wrong? Should i reinstall and try burning the iso's to new media? cheers

  • Nagios Check_hpjd giving me problems!

    - by Mister IT Guru
    When I run the following [root@host plugins]# ./check_hpjd -H printer1.mydomain.com : Timeout from host printer1.mydomain.com I have Net-snmp installed on my system, I noted that i didn't have net-snmp-utils installed, and then I was able to run [root@host plugins]# snmpwalk -Os -c public -v 1 printer1.mydomain.com system sysDescr.0 = STRING: HP ETHERNET MULTI-ENVIRONMENT sysObjectID.0 = OID: enterprises.11.2.3.9.1 sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (325408663) 37 days, 15:54:46.63 sysContact.0 = STRING: sysName.0 = STRING: printer1 sysLocation.0 = STRING: sysServices.0 = INTEGER: 72 So I know that the printer is working as expected, (as far as SNMP is concerned). But when I run [root@host plugins]# ./check_hpjd -H printer1.mydomain.com -C public Error in packet () I get this error - From what I've tried so far, I know my host can communicate via SNMP, I know the printer responds via SNMP, so I guess I'm left to look at the plug-in, which I will be checking up on. I'm new to SNMP, I am investigating this with my good friend Google search, but I am on a learning curve here, so please forgive my questions if they sound stupid,

  • Differing styles in Python program: what do you suggest?

    - by Noctis Skytower
    A friend of mine wanted help learning to program, so he gave me all the programs that he wrote for his previous classes. • iPhone - database reading method and memory leaks

    Hi, in my application, a RSS reader, I get memory leaks that I can't fix because I can't understand from where they come from. Here is the code pointed out by Instruments. -(void) readArticlesFromDatabase { [self setDatabaseInfo]; sqlite3 *database; articles = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { const char *sqlStatement = "select * from articles"; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSString *aName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 1)]; NSString *aDate = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; NSString *aUrl = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 3)]; NSString *aCategory = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 4)]; NSString *aAuthor = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 5)]; NSString *aSummary = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 6)]; NSMutableString *aContent = [NSMutableString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 7)]; NSString *aNbrComments = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 8)]; NSString *aCommentsLink = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 9)]; NSString *aPermalink = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 11)]; [aContent replaceCharactersInRange: [aContent rangeOfString: @"http://www.mywebsite.com/img/action-on.gif"] withString: @"hellocoton-action-on.gif"]; [aContent replaceCharactersInRange: [aContent rangeOfString: @"hhttp://www.mywebsite.com/img/action-on-h.gif"] withString: @"hellocoton-action-on-h.gif"]; [aContent replaceCharactersInRange: [aContent rangeOfString: @"hthttp://www.mywebsite.com/img/hellocoton.gif"] withString: @"hellocoton-hellocoton.gif"]; NSString *imageURLBrut = [self parseArticleForImages:aContent]; NSString *imageURLCache = [imageURLBrut stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@":" withString:@"_"]; imageURLCache = [imageURLCache stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@"/" withString:@"_"]; imageURLCache = [imageURLCache stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@"_"]; NSString *uniquePath = [tmp stringByAppendingPathComponent: imageURLCache]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath: uniquePath]) { imageURLCache = [@"../tmp/" stringByAppendingString: imageURLCache]; [aContent replaceCharactersInRange: [aContent rangeOfString: imageURLBrut ] withString: imageURLCache]; } Article *article = [[Article alloc] initWithName:aName date:aDate url:aUrl category:aCategory author:aAuthor summary:aSummary content:aContent commentsNbr:aNbrComments commentsLink:aCommentsLink commentsRSS:@"" enclosure:aPermalink enclosure2:@"" enclosure3:@""]; [articles addObject:article]; article = nil; [article release]; } } sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); } sqlite3_close(database); } ` I have a lot of "Article" leaked and NSString matching with these using : [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, X)]; I tried a lot of different code I always have these leaks.   • Arduino (processing) Library in Netbeans and control

    - by Casper Marcussen
    Hello everyone I am trying to control 4 LEDs and getting analog input from 4 contacts. The program is written in java, so to gain acces to the functions of arduino, such as AnalogRead() and setting an LED to high or low, would importing the processing library let the program use those functions? I was also wondering, if the program, will be transferred to the arduino it self, or the java program will just pull the data from the pins?

  • Covariance and Contravariance in C#

    - by edalorzo
    I will start by saying that I am Java developer learning to program in C#. As such I do comparisons of what I know with what I am learning. I have been playing with C# generics for a few hours now, and I have been able to reproduce the same things I know in Java in C#, with the exception of a couple of examples using covariance and contravariance. The book I am reading is not very good in the subject. I will certainly seek more info on the web, but while I do that, perhaps you can help me find a C# implementation for the following Java code. An example is worth a thousand words, and I was hoping that by looking a good code sample I will be able to assimilate this more rapidly. Covariance In Java I can do something like this: public static double sum(List<? extends Number> numbers) { double summation = 0.0; for(Number number : numbers){ summation += number.doubleValue(); } return summation; } I can use this code as follows: List<Integer> myInts = asList(1,2,3,4,5); List<Double> myDoubles = asList(3.14, 5.5, 78.9); List<Long> myLongs = asList(1L, 2L, 3L); double result = 0.0; result = sum(myInts); result = sum(myDoubles) result = sum(myLongs); Now I did discover that C# supports covariance/contravariance only on interfaces and as long as they have been explicitly declared to do so (out). I think I was not able to reproduce this case, because I could not find a common ancestor of all numbers, but I believe that I could have used IEnumerable to implement such thing if a common ancestor exists. Since IEnumerable is a covariant type. Right? Any thoughts on how to implement the list above? Just point me into the right direction. Is there any common ancestor of all numeric types? Contravariance The contravariance example I tried was the following. In Java I can do this to copy one list into another. public static void copy(List<? extends Number> source, List<? super Number> destiny){ for(Number number : source) { destiny.add(number); } } Then I could use it with contravariant types as follows: List<Object> anything = new ArrayList<Object>(); List<Integer> myInts = asList(1,2,3,4,5); copy(myInts, anything); My basic problem, trying to implement this in C# is that I could not find an interface that was both covariant and contravariant at the same time, as it is case of List in my example above. Maybe it can be done with two different interface in C#. Any thoughts on how to implement this? Thank you very much to everyone for any answers you can contribute. I am pretty sure I will learn a lot from any example you can provide.

  • Please explain this python behavior

    - by StackUnderflow
    class SomeClass(object): def __init__(self, key_text_pairs = None): ..... for key, text in key_text_pairs: ...... ...... x = SomeClass([1, 2, 3]) The value of key_text_pairs inside the init is None even if I pass a list as in the above statement. Why is it so?? I want to write a generic init which can take all iterator objects... Thanks

  • WordPress: Display Online Users' Avatars

    - by Wade D Ouellet
    Hi, I'm using version 2.7.0 of this WordPress plugin to display which users are currently online (the latest version doesn't work): http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-useronline/ It's working great but I would love to be able to alter it quickly to display the users' avatars instead of their names. Hoping someone with pretty good knowledge of WordPress queries and functions can help. The part below seems to be the part that handles all this. If this isn't enough, here is the link to download the version I am using with the full php files: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-useronline.2.70.zip // If No Bot Is Found, Then We Check Members And Guests if ( !$bot_found ) { if ( $current_user->ID ) { // Check For Member $user_id = $current_user->ID; $user_name = $current_user->display_name; $user_type = 'member'; $where = $wpdb->prepare("WHERE user_id = %d", $user_id); } elseif ( !empty($_COOKIE['comment_author_'.COOKIEHASH]) ) { // Check For Comment Author (Guest) $user_id = 0; $user_name = trim(strip_tags($_COOKIE['comment_author_'.COOKIEHASH])); $user_type = 'guest'; } else { // Check For Guest $user_id = 0; $user_name = __('Guest', 'wp-useronline'); $user_type = 'guest'; } } // Check For Page Title if ( is_admin() && function_exists('get_admin_page_title') ) { $page_title = ' &raquo; ' . __('Admin', 'wp-useronline') . • Basic questions about network topologies

    - by laoshanlung
    I have just started learning about network topologies, but there are a lot of confusion about different types of network topologies i have learnt so far. First of all, BUS topology. If i have like 100 PCs in the same wire connected using BUS topology, and the network connection speed is 100Mbps, then each PC will have a connection of 1Mbps, right ? With the same scenario, if i connect those 100 PCs using STAR topology, then each PC will have a connection of 100Mbps ? Then with the TREE topology, i divide the system into 10 sub-system (10 tree branches) , each branch has 10 PCs, then i will have other 10 small "BUS-topology" networks each one will have a connection of 10Mbps and therefore each PC will also have 10Mbps ? And the last one is RING topology, 100 PCs, each PC will have 100Mbps connection ?

  • Slave/secondary DNS nameserver

    - by user114671
    I'm learning about DNS and have a very basic, generic question about DNS but I can't find an answer anywhere. I have DNS for a few domains set up as follows: - master records with DNS company A - slave records with DNS company B Company A's nameservers are: ns1.companyA.com. ns2.companyA.com. ns3.companyA.com. ns4.companyA.com. ns5.companyA.com. and company B has three slaves: ns6.companyB.com. ns7.companyB.com. ns8.companyB.com. Everything works fine transferring the records between the nameservers and keeping them in sync. But my question is: The registrar of my domain example.com allows me to choose 4 nameservers only. Do I just pick the first 4 for company A, or do I need to include 1 or more of company B's slave nameservers too?

  • Excel VBA Application.OnTime. I think its a bad idea to use this... thoughts either way?

    - by FinancialRadDeveloper
    I have a number of users I support that are asking for things to happen automatically ( well more automagically but that's another point!). One want events to happen every 120 secs ( see my other question ) and also another wants 1 thing to happen say at 5pm each business day. This has to be on the Excel sheet so therefore VBA as addins etc will be a no no, as it needs to be self contained. I have a big dislike of using Application.OnTime I think its dangerous and unreliable, what does everyone else think?

  • Ruby on Rails: Find records based on a method in the model?

    I'm looking to use named_scope to find records based on a method in the model. Right now I have in my Order.rb model: def self.paid collect { |order| order if order.paid? } end # the method def paid order.payments.total >= order.total_price end That works, but I can't chain it if I have a shipped named_scope: named_scope :shipped, :conditions => "shipped is true" And I wanted to do: Order.paid.shipped which doesn't work. Any ideas?

  • Object C casting

    Hi, I'm trying to cast this statement: [self handError:noConnectionError]; basically, this statement is in a class, which is not the app delegate, but is the .m file of a view, specifically a view after uitableview, which contains its own uiviewtable. The warning that statement gives me is that the error produced may not be apparent to the UIView (view control container).

  • iPhone OS: KVO: Why is my Observer only getting notified at applicationDidfinishLaunching

    - by nickthedude
    I am basically trying to implement an achievement tracking setup in my app. I have a managedObjectModel class called StatTracker to keep track of all sorts of stats and I want my Achievement tracking class to be notified when those stats change so I can check them against a value and see if the user has earned an achievement. I've tried to impliment KVO and I think I'm pretty close to making it happen but the problem I'm running into is this: So in the appDelegate i have an Ivar for my Achievement tracker class, I attach it as an observer to a property value of my statTracker core data entity in the applicationDidFinishLaunching method. I know its making the connection because I've been able to trigger a UIAlert in my AchievementTracker instance, and I've put several log statements that should be triggered whenever the value on the StatTracker's property changes. the log statement appears only once at the application launch. I'm wondering if I'm missing something in the whole object lifecycle scheme of things, I just don't understand why the observer stops getting notified of changes after the applicationDidFinishLaunching method has run. Does it have something to do with the scope of the AchievementTracker reference or more likely the reference to my core data StatTracker is going away once that method finishes up. I guess I'm not sure the right place to place these if that is the case. Would love some help. Here is the code where I add the observer in my appDidFinishLaunching method: [[CoreDataSingleton sharedCoreDataSingleton] incrementStatTrackerStat:@"timesLaunched"]; achievementsObserver = [[AchievementTracker alloc] init]; StatTracker *object = nil; object = [[[CoreDataSingleton sharedCoreDataSingleton] getStatTracker] objectAtIndex:0]; NSLog(@"%@",[object description]); [[CoreDataSingleton sharedCoreDataSingleton] addObserver:achievementsObserver toStat:@"refreshCount"]; here is the code in my core data singleton: -(void) addObserver:(id)observer toStat:(NSString *) statToObserve { NSLog(@"observer added"); NSArray *array = [[NSArray alloc] init]; array = [self getStatTracker]; [[array objectAtIndex:0] addObserver:observer forKeyPath:statToObserve options:NSKeyValueObservingOptionNew | NSKeyValueObservingOptionOld context:NULL]; } and my AchievementTracker: - (void)observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { NSLog(@"achievemnt hit"); //NSLog("%@", [change description]); if ([keyPath isEqual:@"refreshCount"] && ((NSInteger)[change valueForKey:@"NSKeyValueObservingOptionOld"] == 60) ) { NSLog(@"achievemnt hit inside"); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"title" message:@"achievement unlocked" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"cancel" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; } }
