  • Support for HRT Music Streamer II

    - by Duckers
I'm considering a HRT Music Streamer II DAC (digital analog converter) for my HTPC. I run Ubuntu 10.10, but considering a upgrade to 11.04. Will this DAC be P'n'P, or at least easy to set up? http://www.highresolutiontechnologies.com/support/ indicates its supported on Mac and Windows. Linux is not mentioned. All my searches seems to indicate that its a bit troublesome, but those are posts from 2009 and older.

  • SQL SERVER – Free eBook Download – EPUB, MOBI, PDF Format

    - by pinaldave
Microsoft has released recently free eBooks on various Microsoft Technology. The best part is that all these books are available in ePub, Mobi and PDF. You can download them to your local machine or eBook reader and read them. This is a great start as many important subjects are now covered and converted into an eBook. I personally read through a few of the books and found they are very comprehensive and and detailed. The goal is not to cover complete technology in a single book but rather pick a single topic and discuss it in detail. The source of the book is white paper, Technet wiki as well book online and it is clearly listed right bellow the book title. Following are the books available for SQL Server Technology and I encourage all of you to have a look at them as they are great resources. Master Data Services Capacity Guidelines Microsoft SQL Server AlwaysOn Solutions Guide for High Availability and Disaster Recovery Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Multidimensional Performance and Operations Guide QuickStart: Learn DAX Basics in 30 Minutes SQL Server 2012 Transact-SQL DML Reference You can download above eBooks from here. This is indeed a great attempt as each book talks about the a single subject in depth keeping author focus on the single and simple subject. I have previously written two books by focusing on the same subject and I had great pleasure writing it as well. Writing on focus subjects gives complete freedom to author to explore the a single subject without having burden to cover everything which is associated with that technology at large. Just like eBooks mentioned earlier my SQL Server Wait Stats was inspired from my article series on SQL Wait Stats. The latest book SQL Server Interview Question and Answers was derived from my article series on SQL Interview Q and A. Writing book is an absolutely different concept than writing blog posts. When I was converting my blog posts to books, I ended up writing 50% new material and end up removing many repetitive content which shows up in blog series. It was indeed fun to focused book at the same time it was a great learning experience as an individual. • Webpage loading with wrong content-type after setting up CloudFlare

    - by Daniel Little
I recently migrated my blog to the Ghost service, I've also setup an alias DNS record with CloudFlare. While showing the blog to a colleague I discovered one of the posts wasn't loading properly and would instead prompt to be downloaded with an application/octet-stream content-type. I can view all the pages without any issues and I believe we're both on the same network as well. Has anyone received a wrong content type like application/octet-stream using CloudFlare, or know what I can do to correct this?

  • StreamInsight is in all editions (except express)

    - by simonsabin
Contrary to many posts and even press releases from Microsoft StreamInsight is not just for Data Center edition. It is available in all paid for editions. If you read the license terms http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=186261&clcid=0x409 you will see you get StreamInsight in all paid editions. Whats confusing is the performance/limitations in each edition. The only reference I could find of these limitations is here http://blogs.msdn.com/b/streaminsight/archive/2010/02/10/streaminsight-versions...(read more)

  • Cairo-dock only shows one workspace after upgrade to 14.04 LTS

    - by David M. Karr
I have a Linux desktop that I try to keep up to date, although I don't use it a lot. I had it configured with cairo-dock, showing 2x2 workspaces. It's been like this for quite a while. I recently upgraded to 14.04 LTS, and now the switcher only shows a single workspace. I read several posts that talk about similar problems, but I wasn't able to get a viable clue. What can I look at to get some clues?

  • Increasing traffic for music blog

    - by Wladimir Ivanov
I own a music blog with some articles and of course youtube iframes and mp3 listening plugins. I get traffic from google and some not very popular site (I don't mention it because you can think it's a SPAM) where I post links with pictures to my posts. Any ideas to get more traffic for this kind of blog? I know about Myspace, blog directories, video sharing sites, same niche blogs and relevant forums. Anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance

You can drilldown by category, date, lens, focal, iso, shutter speed and many other parameters. The result is awesome and is visible here . • Has the SQL Community Lost its Focus?

    - by Jonathan Kehayias
Yesterday, Thomas LaRock’s blog post, WMI Code Creator , was brought to my attention by a member of the SQL Community.  I subscribe to Tom’s blog in my blog reader so eventually I’d like to think that his post would have come to my attention, but to be perfectly honest, I have been to busy with other obligations lately that have made reading blog posts almost impossible.  When I looked at Tom’s post, I was kind of put off when I did a copy paste of the Code from it and got the following:...(read more)

  • To disallow indexing the category and tag listings in a blog

    - by Mert Nuhoglu
Mark Wilson says that category and tag listings in a blog should be disallowed in order to prevent duplicate content. I understand this. However, I want to put internal links on keywords in the blog posts to the tag and category pages in order for the readers to find more relevant content. I wonder whether putting those internal links to the category/tag pages which are disallowed in robots.txt is counted as useful from the perspective of SEO internal linking?

  • Using Url Rewrite to Block Page Requests

    - by The Official Microsoft IIS Site
The other day I was checking the traffic stats for my WordPress blog to see which of my posts were the most popular. I was a little concerned to see that wp-login.php was in the Top 5 total requests almost every month. Since I’m the only author on my blog my logins could not possibly account for the traffic hitting that page. The only explanation could be that the additional traffic was coming from automated hacking attempts. Any server administrator concerned about security knows that “ footprinting...(read more)
