Silverlight 4 now supports printing functionality using the Printing APIs. Using the API’s you can now print your whole application screen or a portion of the application. Also, you can customize the look while you printing your part/full application. In this post I will step you guys to the depth.

I've seen others discussing printing labels with a dedicated label printer using Java.
Is there any way to print labels using a regular printer with label paper using (optimally) Android libraries/API? If not, is there any way to do this in a non-mobile context using Java?
Searching for "Java Label Printing" is only turning up the aforementioned dedicated label printing bits, which aren't quite what I'm looking for.
Oracle Solaris 11.1 was announced at Oracle OpenWorld recently. This release added 300 new performance and feature enhancements.
My favorite new features:
Solaris Zones on Shared Storage
Support for 32 TB (!) of RAM
Improved Oracle RAC lock latency
Dynamically resize the Oracle DB SGA
Industry-first support for FedFS
You can learn more from the
press release or by
attending
the Solaris 11.1 webcast on November 7.
It just isn't there on the base install of a virtual host I am evaluating from an ISP.
Not in path:
root@vpstest2:~# tasksel
-bash: tasksel: command not found
Config files not there:
root@vpstest2:~# ls /usr/share/tas*
ls: cannot access /usr/share/tas*: No such file or directory
It's just .... gone!
root@vpstest2:~# whereis tasksel
tasksel:
I'm a little concerned that the install is broken. Running locate spews this out:
locate: can not stat () `/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db': No such file or directory

I've dropbox v1.4.17 installed and I want to change the path from (...)/Dropbox to (...)/dropbox.
I think until v1.2 this was done by changing dropbox_path field in the sqlite file ~/.dropbox/config.db. Now, this field is hidden inside the encrypted ~/.dropbox/config.dbx (security reasons [1], I guess).
Anyone has a solution to this? I'm thinking about placing my dropbox folder in ~/.local/share/Dropbox and then linking that to the path I want to set.

Whilst the W3C do provide an excellent service for manually checking your web pages, there are times when an alternative is required.
There is for example a web service at http://validator.w3.org/docs/api.html This can be for programmatically checking your pages (provided you make no more than 1 call per second).
The W3C do provide all the source code needed to run your own validation service. Get the full details at:
· Installation and development information for the W3C Markup Validator http://validator.w3.org/docs/devel.html

I installed the "postgresql-8.4" package with default options. Everything worked fine, however I can't seem to manage to create unicode databases:
-- This doesn't work
createdb test1 --encoding UNICODE
-- This works
createdb test2
The error message "createdb: database creation failed: ERROR: new encoding (UTF8) is incompatible with the encoding of the template database (SQL_ASCII)" is a bit puzzling because (afaik) I don't use a template for creating the new db, or is it implicitely referring to the default "postgres" database for some reason ?
Or maybe I'm missing a setting in a .conf file ?
I have 3 rotating banners on one 728x90 position on my website, so every time a page is loaded another banner is shown. One of these is AdSense.
Is it legal, I mean is this strictly prohibited or not?
Because, the code is basically stored in db table in my CMS module in Wordpress, so I guess it is OK.
But I am asking to be sure.
What is your personal experience?
Does Google penalize sites with banner rotators?

Part 2 of our ASP.NET tutorial, looks at how to use the Google Maps API to include a map showing the area searched, with markers denoting the store locations using a sprinkle of JavaScript, and a pinch of server-side code to add such functionality to our store locator app.
I have postfix configured to receive mail for multiple domains. The primary domain goes through a standard postfix setup, whereas a secondary domain is handed by a /etc/postfix/virtual.db file which maps addresses for the secondary domain to other unix users.
Incoming mail works perfectly, but when I send mail as users on the secondary domain, the mail receiver still sees it as coming from [unix username]@[primarydomain].net. Can anyone help me figure out how to configure the virtual postfix domain to send mail through the same domain it receives it as?
Windows management has a prime place in system monitoring and administration irrespective of the technology being used. The suppleness that is achieved using the Windows management native API's are far more than that which could be achieved through other kinds of monitoring and administration application.
I was told that unittest is fast and the tests which touches DB, across network, and touches FileSystem are not unittest.
In one of my testcases, its input are the file names (amount about 300~400) under a specific folder. Although these input are part of file system, the execution time of this test is very fast.
Should I moved this test, which is fast but touches file system, to higher level test?
