  • Existing LINQ extension method similar to Parallel.For?

    - by Joel Martinez
    The linq extension methods for ienumerable are very handy ... but not that useful if all you want to do is apply some computation to each item in the enumeration without returning anything. So I was wondering if perhaps I was just missing the right method, or if it truly doesn't exist as I'd rather use a built-in version if it's available ... but I haven't found one :-) I could have sworn there was a .ForEach method somewhere, but I have yet to find it. In the meantime, I did write my own version in case it's useful for anyone else: using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; public delegate void Function<T>(T item); public delegate void Function(object item); public static class EnumerableExtensions { public static void For(this IEnumerable enumerable, Function func) { foreach (object item in enumerable) { func(item); } } public static void For<T>(this IEnumerable<T> enumerable, Function<T> func) { foreach (T item in enumerable) { func(item); } } } usage is: myEnumerable.For<MyClass>(delegate(MyClass item) { item.Count++; });

  • Double Click and Resize on an Ipad

    - by Luke
    Thanks to the great post at OranLooney.com I was able to get a java/icefaces web-app to resize nicely on the ipad, however the code provided for double click doesn't seem to work without further customization. Has anybody had any experience with getting this to work? there seems to be little documentation on google. the donnothing(); in the window.orientationchange is there as it seems sometimes without it the resize will (sometimes) not work // a function to parse the user agent string; useful for // detecting lots of browsers, not just the iPad. function checkUserAgent(vs) { var pattern = new RegExp(vs, 'i'); return !!pattern.test(navigator.userAgent); } if ( checkUserAgent('iPad') ) { // iPad specific stuff here window.onorientationchange = function() { donnothing(); }; document.body.addEventListener('touchstart', function(e) { touch = e.touches[0]; if ( !touch ) return; var me = document.createEvent("MouseEvents"); me.initMouseEvent('dblclick', true, true, window, 1, // detail / mouse click count touch.screenX, touch.screenY, touch.clientX, touch.clientY, false, false, false, false, // key modifiers 0, // primary mouse button null // related target not used for dblclick event ); touch.target.dispatchEvent(me); }); }

  • Using GNU Octave FFT functions

    - by CFP
    Hello world! I'm playing with octave's fft functions, and I can't really figure out how to scale their output: I use the following (very short) code to approximate a function: function y = f(x) y = x .^ 2; endfunction; X=[-4096:4095]/64; Y = f(X); # plot(X, Y); F = fft(Y); S = [0:2047]/2048; function points = approximate(input, count) size = size(input)(2); fourier = [fft(input)(1:count) zeros(1, size-count)]; points = ifft(fourier); endfunction; Y = f(X); plot(X, Y, X, approximate(Y, 10)); Basically, what it does is take a function, compute the image of an interval, fft-it, then keep a few harmonics, and ifft the result. Yet I get a plot that is vertically compressed (the vertical scale of the output is wrong). Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Trouble adding video controls to video selected by XML comboBox

    - by user560128
    Hello, it's been a few years since I've touched flash, so perhaps I'm just overlooking something. If anyone could look at the code and offer any suggestions that would be awesome. What's working, I select a video from a combobox that is populated from an XML file, pick the video and it plays. I've been trying to add pause/play, stop, forward and reverse functionality, once I get that to work I also want to add a video scrubber(slider), and previous/next buttons to go to the previous/next video as listed in the xml file. At the moment I have a component button on the stage called playButton, which I'm trying to use for pause/play functionality. Below is my code, the player control is at the very bottom. Thanks. import fl.data.DataProvider; var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect(null); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); var videosXML:XML = new XML(); var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var request:URLRequest= new URLRequest("xml/videos.xml"); var videos:Array = new Array({label:"Select a Video",data:""}); var client:Object = new Object(); theVideo.attachNetStream(ns); ns.client = client; loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,loaderOnComplete); loader.load (request); function loaderOnComplete(event:Event):void{ videosXML = new XML(event.target.data); for each (var video:XML in videosXML.video){ videos.push({label:video.name.toString(),data:video.url.toString()}); } moviesCB.dataProvider = new DataProvider(videos); } moviesCB.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, changeHandler); function changeHandler(event:Event):void { if(ComboBox(event.target).selectedItem.data != ""){ ns.play(ComboBox(event.target).selectedItem.data); } }; client.onMetaData = metadataHandler; function metadataHandler(md:Object):void{ } //player controls playButton.onRelease = function() { ns.pause(); }

  • Executing javascript script after ajax-loaded a page - doesn't work

    - by Deukalion
    I'm trying to get a page with AJAX, but when I get that page and it includes Javascript code - it doesn't execute it. Why? Simple code in my ajax page: <script type="text/javascript"> alert("Hello"); </script> ...and it doesn't execute it. I'm trying to use Google Maps API and add markers with AJAX, so whenever I add one I execute a AJAX page that gets the new marker, stores it in a database and should add the marker "dynamically" to the map. But since I can't execute a single javascript function this way, what do I do? Is my functions that I've defined on the page beforehand protected or private? ** UPDATED WITH AJAX FUNCTION ** function ajaxExecute(id, link, query) { if (query != null) { query = query.replace("amp;", ""); } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { // code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { if (id != null) { document.getElementById(id).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } } if (query == null) { xmlhttp.open("GET",link,true); } else { if (query.substr(0, 1) != "?") { xmlhttp.open("GET",link+"?"+query,true); } else { xmlhttp.open("GET",link+query,true); } } xmlhttp.send(); }

  • How to use pure in D 2.0

    - by James Dean
    While playing around with D 2.0 I found the following problem: Example 1: pure string[] run1() { string[] msg; msg ~= "Test"; msg ~= "this."; return msg; } This compiles and works as expected. When I try to wrap the string array in a class I find I can not get this to work: class TestPure { string[] msg; void addMsg( string s ) { msg ~= s; } }; pure TestPure run2() { TestPure t = new TestPure(); t.addMsg("Test"); t.addMsg("this."); return t; } This code will not compile because the addMsg function is impure. I can not make that function pure since it alters the TestPure object. Am i missing something? Or is this a limitation? The following does compile: pure TestPure run3() { TestPure t = new TestPure(); t.msg ~= "Test"; t.msg ~= "this."; return t; } Would the ~= operator not been implemented as a impure function of the msg array? How come the compiler does not complain about that in the run1 function?

  • postgres - ERROR: operator does not exist

    - by cino21122
    Again, I have a function that works fine locally, but moving it online yields a big fat error... Taking a cue from a response in which someone had pointed out the number of arguments I was passing wasn't accurate, I double-checked in this situation to be certain that I am passing 5 arguments to the function itself... Query failed: ERROR: operator does not exist: point <@> point HINT: No operator matches the given name and argument type(s). You may need to add explicit type casts. The query is this: BEGIN; SELECT zip_proximity_sum('zc', (SELECT g.lat FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1), (SELECT g.lon FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1), (SELECT m.zip FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile m ON g.recordid = m.id WHERE m.zip = '10050' ORDER BY m.id LIMIT 1) ,10); The PG function is this: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION zip_proximity_sum(refcursor, numeric, numeric, character, numeric) RETURNS refcursor AS $BODY$ BEGIN OPEN $1 FOR SELECT r.zip, point($2,$3) <@> point(g.lat, g.lon) AS distance FROM geocoded g LEFT JOIN masterfile r ON g.recordid = r.id WHERE (geo_distance( point($2,$3),point(g.lat,g.lon)) < $5) ORDER BY r.zip, distance; RETURN $1; END; $BODY$ LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE COST 100;

  • IE event callback object JavaScript

    - by Randy Hall
    I may be WAY off on my terminology, so please feel free to correct me. Perhaps this is why I cannot seem to find anything relevant. No libraries, please. I have an event handler, which invokes a callback function. Fancy, right? In IE<9 the this object in the handler is the window. I don't know why, or how to access the correct object. if (document.addEventListener){ element.addEventListener(event, callback, false); } else { element.attachEvent('on' +event, callback); } This part DOES WORK. This part doesn't: function callback(event){ console.log(this); } this in IE is returning [object Window], whereas it returns the element that called the callback function in every other browser. This is cut down significantly from my full script, but this should be everything that's relevant. EDIT This link provided by @metadings How to reference the caller object ("this") using attachEvent is very close. However, there are still two issues. 1) I need to get both the event object and the DOM element calling this function. 2) This event is handled delegation style: there may be child DOM elements firing the event, meaning event.target is not necessarily (and in my case, not typically) the element with the listener.

  • Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

    - by etombaugh
    I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API. Any suggestions? jQuery('.inputsubmit').click(function() { //Takes values from user submitted fields and parses them into an address string var street = jQuery('.inputaddress').val(); var city = jQuery('.inputcity').val(); var state = jQuery('.inputstate').val(); var address = street +" "+ city +", " +state; geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var geocoderresult= geocoder.geocode({'address': address}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { var newlocation = results[0].geometry.location; //Posts coordinates and address string to a CodeIgniter function to update users session information jQuery.post("somepage", {location: newlocation, address: address},function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); } else { alert("Geocoder failed due to: " + status); } }); }); I've tried everything I can think of to get the post to work. All of the code works up till the point, and I've commented out the post line and everything works correctly. This is one of our main website's features, to provide instant and quick results based off of location. Thanks!

  • jQuery error when aborting an ajax call only in Internet Explorer

    - by Rob Crowell
    When mousing over an image in a jcarousel, my site displays a popup whose contents are loaded via ajax. I'm doing what I thought was fairly straightforward; keeping a handle to the xhrRequest object, and aborting the existing one before making a new request. It works great in all browsers except IE, where I receive an error "Object doesn't support this property or method" Here's the code that is triggering it: function showPopup { // ... code snipped ... // cancel the existing xhr request if (showPopup.xhrRequest != null) { showPopup.xhrRequest.abort(); showPopup.xhrRequest = null; } showPopup.xhrRequest = $.ajax({url: url, type: "GET", success:function(data) { $("#popup-content").html(data); } }); // ... code snipped ... } showPopup.xhrRequest = null; Works great in Firefox and Chrome. I traced the error down to this bit of code in jquery.js inside the ajax function (line 5233 in my copy of jQuery): // Override the abort handler, if we can (IE doesn't allow it, but that's OK) // Opera doesn't fire onreadystatechange at all on abort try { var oldAbort = xhr.abort; xhr.abort = function() { if (xhr ) { oldAbort.call( xhr ); } onreadystatechange( "abort" ); } catch(e) { } The specific error occurs on the oldAbort.call( xhr ) line. Any ideas?

  • Pass checkbox values with Jquery to PHP and display result in div

    - by user1343955
    I want to filter realtime results with jQuery (just like on this site http://shop.www.hi.nl/hi/mcsmambo.p?M5NextUrl=RSRCH). So when someones checks a checkbox the results should update realtime (in a div). Now I'm a newbie with jQuery and I've tried lots of examples but I can't get it to work. Here's my code, could anyone tell what I'm doing wrong? Thank you very much! HTML <div id="c_b"> Kleur:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[1]" value="Blauw"> Blauw <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[2]" value="Wit"> Wit <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[3]" value="Zwart"> Zwart <br /> <br /> Operating System:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="os[1]" value="Android"> Android <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="os[2]" value="Apple iOS"> Apple iOS <br /> </div> <div id="myResponse">Here should be the result</div> jQuery function updateTextArea() { var allVals = []; $('#c_b :checked').each(function() { allVals.push($(this).val()); }); var dataString = $(allVals).serialize(); $.ajax({ type:'POST', url:'/wp-content/themes/u-design/filteropties.php', data: dataString, success: function(data){ $('#myResponse').html(data); } }); } $(document).ready(function() { $('#c_b input').click(updateTextArea); updateTextArea(); }); PHP //Just to see if the var passing works echo var_export($_POST);

  • jQuery Validation plugin results in empty AJAX POST

    - by user305412
    Hi, I have tried to solve this issue for at couple of days with no luck. I have a form, where I use the validation plugin, and when I try to submit it, it submits empty vars. Now, if I remove the validation, everything works fine. Here is my implementation: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#myForm").validate({ rules: { field1: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, field2: { required: true, minlength: 10 } }, messages: { field1: "this is required", field2: "this is required", }, errorLabelContainer: $("#validate_msg"), invalidHandler: function(e, validator) { var errors = validator.numberOfInvalids(); if (errors) { $("#validate_div").show(); } }, onkeyup: false, success: false, submitHandler: function(form) { doAjaxPost(form); } }); }); function doAjaxPost(form) { // do some stuff $(form).ajaxSubmit(); return false; } As I wrote this does not work when I have my validation, BUT if I remove that, and just add an onsubmit="doAjaxPost(this.form); return false"; to my HTML form, it works - any clue??? Now here is the funny thing, everything works as it should in Safari, but not in firefox 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)!

  • Highlighting a piechart slice from an HTML element (mouseover)

    - by nickhar
    I have a series of HTML table cells with data - an example of which is: <tr id="rrow1"> <td> <a href="/electricity" class="category">Electricity</a> </td> <td> 901.471 </td> </tr> <tr id="rrow2">... <tr id="rrow3">... etc In this case, each <tr> (or hypathetically for the wider community a div/span/tr/td) is assigned a sequential id based on $rrow++; in a while loop (in PHP). I also have a Piechart using the highcharts library, where i'd like to highlight the slice (sliced: true) based upon onmouseover of particular div/span/tr/td element - in this case #rrow1 as above, but multiple/iterative elements as required and (sliced: false) onmouseout... As a simple example, I've tried accessing various derivatives of the following, but failed: $('#rrow1').mouseover(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', true); }); $('#rrow1').mouseout(function() { chart.series[0].graph.attr('sliced', false); }); The nearest I've found is this but bastardised at most and without success: plotOptions: { series: { mouseOver: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseover ) series.x = sliced: true; }, mouseOut: function() { if( $('#rrow1').mouseout ) series.x = sliced: false; } } } These are far from approaching correct and despite searching I can't find a valid/helpful example to work from or draw direction. You can view the pie chart in question on jsfiddle here.

  • Are dots legal in the name property of an HTML button

    - by justSteve
    a page with a bit of MVC code: <%=Html.SubmitButton("ChooseWebinar.Submit", "Continue to Registration Details")%><br/> that generates an input button where the '.' is embedded in the name: [rendered html] At page load this control (the submit button) is hidden - when one of two different dropdowns registers a value, the button is shown: function toggleChooseWebinarSubmit() { if ($("#ChooseWebinar_RecordedWebinarId").val() || $("#ChooseWebinar_UpcomingWebinarId").val()) { $("#ChooseWebinar_Submit").show(); } else { $("#ChooseWebinar_Submit").hide(); } I've just received a report from an IE8 user who says that after selecting a value in a dropdown, the button is _not displaying. I can't reproduce the condition (i've tried compatibility mode too). Obviously the show/hide is targeting the 'ID' selector but i can't help but wonder about that period in the control's name. Any known issues? - or perhaps the .change is problematic and the toggle's never getting called: $(window).load(function() { toggleChooseWebinarSubmit(); $("#ChooseWebinar_UpcomingWebinarId").change(function() { if ($(this).val()) { $("#ChooseWebinar_RecordedWebinarId").val(""); } toggleChooseWebinarSubmit(); }); $("#ChooseWebinar_RecordedWebinarId").change(function() { if ($(this).val()) { $("#ChooseWebinar_UpcomingWebinarId").val(""); } toggleChooseWebinarSubmit(); }); }); thx

  • Linq: Why won't Group By work when Querying DataSets?

    - by jrcs3
    While playing with Linq Group By statements using both DataSet and Linq-to-Sql DataContext, I get different results with the following VB.NET 10 code: #If IS_DS = True Then Dim myData = VbDataUtil.getOrdersDS #Else Dim myData = VbDataUtil.GetNwDataContext #End If Dim MyList = From o In myData.Orders Join od In myData.Order_Details On o.OrderID Equals od.OrderID Join e In myData.Employees On o.EmployeeID Equals e.EmployeeID Group By FullOrder = New With { .OrderId = od.OrderID, .EmployeeName = (e.FirstName & " " & e.LastName), .ShipCountry = o.ShipCountry, .OrderDate = o.OrderDate } _ Into Amount = Sum(od.Quantity * od.UnitPrice) Where FullOrder.ShipCountry = "Venezuela" Order By FullOrder.OrderId Select FullOrder.OrderId, FullOrder.OrderDate, FullOrder.EmployeeName, Amount For Each x In MyList Console.WriteLine( String.Format( "{0}; {1:d}; {2}: {3:c}", x.OrderId, x.OrderDate, x.EmployeeName, x.Amount)) Next With Linq2SQL, the grouping works properly, however, the DataSet code doesn't group properly. Here are the functions that I call to create the DataSet and Linq-to-Sql DataContext Public Shared Function getOrdersDS() As NorthwindDS Dim ds As New NorthwindDS Dim ota As New OrdersTableAdapter ota.Fill(ds.Orders) Dim otda As New Order_DetailsTableAdapter otda.Fill(ds.Order_Details) Dim eda As New EmployeesTableAdapter eda.Fill(ds.Employees) Return ds End Function Public Shared Function GetNwDataContext() As NorthwindL2SDataContext Dim s As New My.MySettings Return New NorthwindL2SDataContext(s.NorthwindConnectionString) End Function What am I missing? If it should work, how do I make it work, if it can't work, why not (what interface isn't implemented, etc)?

  • Form submitted via dialog opens dialog again

So that my url reads before submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog and then after submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog#&ui-state=dialog&ui-state=dialog Has anyone ever encountered something like this before? • Jquery dynamic button : how to bind to exisitng click event by class

    - by omer bach
    I have a click event triggered by the class selector inside the jquery ready scope: $(".testBtn").click(function() { alert("This Works"); }); This works fine for static buttons how ever this doesn't work for dynamic buttons which are added upon clicking the button with "addRowBtn" id. I'm guessing that it has something to do with that the button is created after the event is registered but still the new button has the 'testBtn' class so it makes sense it should work. Any idea what am i doing wrong and how to make the dynamic buttons registered to the class selector click event? Here is the whole code, you can copy and paste into an html, click the 'add button' and try to click the added buttons. you'll see nothing happens. <html> <head> <script src='http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js'></script> <script src='http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1/jquery-ui.min.js'></script> <script> $(function() { $(".addRowBtn").click(function() { $("#mainTable tr:last").after("<tr><td><button class='testBtn'>NotWorking</button></td></tr>"); }); $(".testBtn").click(function() { alert("This Works"); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <table id="mainTable"> <button class="addRowBtn">Add button</button> <tr><th>Testing</th></tr> <tr><td><button class='testBtn'>Working</button></td></tr> </table> </body> </html>

  • Problem with using malloc in link lists (urgent ! help please)

    - by Abhinav
    I've been working on this program for five months now. Its a real time application of a sensor network. I create several link lists during the life of the program and Im using malloc for creating a new node in the link. What happens is that the program suddenly stops or goes crazy and restarts. Im using AVR and the microcontroller is ATMEGA 1281. After a lot of debugging I figured out that that the malloc is causing the problem. I do not free the memory after exiting the function that creates a new link so Im guessing that this is eventually causing the heap memory to overflow or something like that. Now if I use the free() function to deallocate the memory at the end of the function using malloc, the program just gets stuck when the control reaches free(). Is this because the memory becomes too clustered after calling free() ? I also create reference tables for example if 'head' is a new link list and I create another list called current and make it equal to head. table *head; table *current = head; After the end of the function if I use free free(current); current = NULL: Then the program gets stuck here. I dont know what to do. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to increase the size of the heap memory Please help...

  • Listen to double click not click

    - by Mohsen
    I'm just wondering why click event happening when I dbclick an element? I have this code:(JSBIN) HTML <p id="hello">Hello World</p> JavaScript document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); this.style.background = 'red'; }, false); document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('dbclick', function(){ this.style.background = 'yellow'; }, false); It should do different things for click and double click, but it seems when you double click on the p it catch click event in advance and ignore double click. I tried preventDefault the click event too. How can I listen to just dbclick? UPDATE I had a typo in my code. dbclick is wrong. It's dblclick. Anyway the problem still exist. When user double clicks the click event happens. This is updated code that prove it:(JSBin) document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); this.style.background = 'red'; this.innerText = "Hello World clicked"; }, false); document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('dblclick', function(){ this.style.background = 'green'; }, false);

  • How can we change views in a UISplitViewController other than using the popover and selecting?

    - by wolverine
    I have done a sample app with UISplitViewController studying the example they have provided. I have created three detailviews and have configured them to change by the default means. Either using the left/master view in landscape AND using the popover in the portrait orientation. Now I am trying to move to another view(previous/next) from the currentView by using left/right swipe in each view. For that, what I did was just created a function in the RootViewController. I copy-pasted the same code as that of the tablerow selection used by the popover from the RootViewController. I am calling this function from my current view's controller and is passing the respective index of the view(to be displayed next) from the current view. Function is being called but nothing is happening. Plz help me OR is anyother way to do it other than this complex step? I am giving the function that I used to change the view. - (void) rearrangeViews:(int)viewRow { UIViewController <SubstitutableDetailViewController> *detailViewController = nil; if (viewRow == 0) { DetailViewController *newDetailViewController = [[DetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DetailView" bundle:nil]; detailViewController = newDetailViewController; } if (viewRow == 1) { SecondDetailViewController *newDetailViewController = [[SecondDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondDetailView" bundle:nil]; detailViewController = newDetailViewController; } if (viewRow == 2) { ThirdDetailViewController *newDetailViewController = [[ThirdDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ThirdDetailView" bundle:nil]; detailViewController = newDetailViewController; } // Update the split view controller's view controllers array. NSArray *viewControllers = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:self.navigationController, detailViewController, nil]; splitViewController.viewControllers = viewControllers; [viewControllers release]; if (rootPopoverButtonItem != nil) { [detailViewController showRootPopoverButtonItem:self.rootPopoverButtonItem]; } [detailViewController release]; }

  • Template Sort In C++

    - by wdow88
    Hey all, I'm trying to write a sort function but am having trouble figuring out how to initialize a value, and making this function work as a generic template. The sort works by: Find a pair =(ii,jj)= with a minimum value = ii+jj = such at A[ii]A[jj] If such a pair exists, then swap A[ii] and A[jj] else break; The function I have written is as follows: template <typename T> void sort(T *A, int size) { T min =453; T temp=0; bool swapper = true; while(swapper) { swapper = false; int index1 = 0, index2 = 0; for (int ii = 0; ii < size-1; ii++){ for (int jj = ii + 1; jj < size; jj++){ if((min >= (A[ii]+A[jj])) && (A[ii] > A[jj])){ min = (A[ii]+A[jj]); index1 = ii; index2 = jj; swapper = true; } } } if (!swapper) return; else { temp = A[index1]; A[index1] = A[index2]; A[index2] = temp; sort(A,size); } } } This function will successfully sort an array of integers, but not an array of chars. I do not know how to properly initialize the min value for the start of the comparison. I tried initializing the value by simply adding the first two elements of the array together (min = A[0] + A[1]), but it looks to me like for this algorithm it will fail. I know this is sort of a strange type of sort, but it is practice for a test, so thanks for any input.

  • PHP templating challenge (optimizing front-end templates)

    - by Matt
    Hey all, I'm trying to do some templating optimizations and I'm wondering if it is possible to do something like this: function table_with_lowercase($data) { $out = '<table>'; for ($i=0; $i < 3; $i++) { $out .= '<tr><td>'; $out .= strtolower($data); $out .= '</td></tr>'; } $out .= "</table>"; return $out; } NOTE: You do not know what $data is when you run this function. Results in: <table> <tr><td><?php echo strtolower($data) ?></td></tr> <tr><td><?php echo strtolower($data) ?></td></tr> <tr><td><?php echo strtolower($data) ?></td></tr> </table> General Case: Anything that can be evaluated (compiled) will be. Any time there is an unknown variable, the variable and the functions enclosing it, will be output in a string format. Here's one more example: function capitalize($str) { return ucwords(strtolower($str)); } If $str is "HI ALL" then the output is: Hi All If $str is unknown then the output is: <?php echo ucwords(strtolower($str)); ?> In this case it would be easier to just call the function (ie. <?php echo capitalize($str) ?> ), but the example before would allow you to precompile your PHP to make it more efficient
