  • Wrapper class for HttpGet / Post in Java?

    - by Tim Green
    Hi, Sorry, I'm quite new to Java. I've stumbled across HttpGet and HttpPost which seem to be perfect for my needs, but a little long winded. I have written a rather bad wrapper class, but does anyone know of where to get a better one? Ideally, I'd be able to do String response = fetchContent("http://url/", postdata); where postdata is optional. Thanks!

  • Why does R sometimes stop displaying output?

    - by Winston C. Yang
    Sometimes R stops displaying output. I type the number 1, followed by the return key, and nothing appears. This situation occurred after I pressed the "STOP" icon in the window, which is for stopping long calculations. I'm using R 2.11.0 on a Mac. Does pressing "STOP" cause R to stop displaying output? How do I get R to display output again?

  • is there a proper way to handle multiple errors/exceptions?

    - by toPeerOrNotToPeer
    in OO programming, is there some conceptual pattern, ideas, about handling multiple errors? for example, i have a method that performs some checks and should return an error message for each error found ['name is too short', 'name contains invalid unicode sequences', 'name is too long'] now, should i use an array of exceptions (not thrown exceptions)? or something like this is better: class MyExceptionList extends Exception{ public Void addException(Exception e){} public Array getExceptions(){} } any theory behind this argument will be appreciated! (this isn't a request about a specific programming language, but a pure theoretical one) thank you in advance

  • NHibernate - Saving simple parent-child relationship generates unnecessary selects with assigned id

    - by Alice
    Entities: public class Parent { virtual public long Id { get; set; } virtual public string Description { get; set; } virtual public ICollection<Child> Children { get; set; } } public class Child { virtual public long Id { get; set; } virtual public string Description { get; set; } virtual public Parent Parent { get; set; } } Mappings: public class ParentMap : ClassMap<Parent> { public ParentMap() { Id(x => x.Id).GeneratedBy.Assigned(); Map(x => x.Description); HasMany(x => x.Children) .AsSet() .Inverse() .Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan(); } } public class ChildMap : ClassMap<Child> { public ChildMap() { Id(x => x.Id).GeneratedBy.Assigned(); Map(x => x.Description); References(x => x.Parent) .Not.Nullable() .Cascade.All(); } } and using (var session = sessionFactory.OpenSession()) using (var transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { var parent = new Parent { Id = 1 }; parent.Children = new HashSet<Child>(); var child1 = new Child { Id = 2, Parent = parent }; var child2 = new Child { Id = 3, Parent = parent }; parent.Children.Add(child1); parent.Children.Add(child2); session.Save(parent); transaction.Commit(); } this codes generates following sql NHibernate: SELECT child_.Id, child_.Description as Descript2_0_, child_.Parent_id as Parent3_0_ FROM [Child] child_ WHERE child_.Id=@p0;@p0 = 2 [Type: Int64 (0)] NHibernate: SELECT child_.Id, child_.Description as Descript2_0_, child_.Parent_id as Parent3_0_ FROM [Child] child_ WHERE child_.Id=@p0;@p0 = 3 [Type: Int64 (0)] NHibernate: INSERT INTO [Parent] (Description, Id) VALUES (@p0, @p1);@p0 = NULL[Type: String (4000)], @p1 = 1 [Type: Int64 (0)] NHibernate: INSERT INTO [Child] (Description, Parent_id, Id) VALUES (@p0, @p1, @p2);@p0 = NULL [Type: String (4000)], @p1 = 1 [Type: Int64 (0)], @p2 = 2 [Type:Int64 (0)] NHibernate: INSERT INTO [Child] (Description, Parent_id, Id) VALUES (@p0, @p1, @p2);@p0 = NULL [Type: String (4000)], @p1 = 1 [Type: Int64 (0)], @p2 = 3 [Type:Int64 (0)] Why are these two selects generated and how can I remove it?

  • Real-time spectrum analyzer with API

    - by bobobobo
    I'm looking for a C or C++ API that will give me real-time spectrum analysis of a waveform on Windows. I'm not entirely sure how large a sample window it should need to determine frequency content, but the smaller the better. For example, if it can work with a 0.5 second long sample and determine frequency content to the Hz, that would be wicked-awesome.

  • Include Unit tests in the same package as the source code in Java

    - by TheDelChop
    Guys, I'm getting back into Java after a long stint in the Ruby world and I've got a question about JUnit tests and the source I'm testing. If I've got a package of graphics code for my company, lets call it com.example.graphics, should I include my tests in that package too or should they be included in a seperate package, like com.example.graphics.test? Thanks, Joe

  • multi-thread access MySQL error

    - by user188916
    I have written a simple multi-threaded C program to access MySQL,it works fine except when i add usleep() or sleep() function in each thread function. i created two pthreads in the main method, int main(){ mysql_library_init(0,NULL,NULL); printf("Hello world!\n"); init_pool(&p,100); pthread_t producer; pthread_t consumer_1; pthread_t consumer_2; pthread_create(&producer,NULL,produce_fun,NULL); pthread_create(&consumer_1,NULL,consume_fun,NULL); pthread_create(&consumer_2,NULL,consume_fun,NULL); mysql_library_end(); } void * produce_fun(void *arg){ pthread_detach(pthread_self()); //procedure while(1){ usleep(500000); printf("producer...\n"); produce(&p,cnt++); } pthread_exit(NULL); } void * consume_fun(void *arg){ pthread_detach(pthread_self()); MYSQL db; MYSQL *ptr_db=mysql_init(&db); mysql_real_connect(); //procedure while(1){ usleep(1000000); printf("consumer..."); int item=consume(&p); addRecord_d(ptr_db,"test",item); } mysql_thread_end(); pthread_exit(NULL); } void addRecord_d(MYSQL *ptr_db,const char *t_name,int item){ char query_buffer[100]; sprintf(query_buffer,"insert into %s values(0,%d)",t_name,item); //pthread_mutex_lock(&db_t_lock); int ret=mysql_query(ptr_db,query_buffer); if(ret){ fprintf(stderr,"%s%s\n","cannot add record to ",t_name); return; } unsigned long long update_id=mysql_insert_id(ptr_db); // pthread_mutex_unlock(&db_t_lock); printf("add record (%llu,%d) ok.",update_id,item); } the program output errors like: [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 0xb7ae3b70 (LWP 7712)] Hello world!   • Does SQL Server have any kind of magic undo feature?

    - by Andrew G. Johnson
    Long story short is I tried to quickly update a single row in SQL Server using the Management studio and just typed UPDATE table SET column='value' and forgot the WHERE other_column='other_value' portion. Went for lunch, came back and theres 15 unread emails waiting for me. Happened about an hour ago, waiting for the database guy to come back to see when the last backup was. There's no magic UNDO feature though is there?

  • Maximal Length of List to Shuffle with Python random.shuffle?

    - by Henrik
    I have a list which I shuffle with the Python built in shuffle function (random.shuffle) However, the Python reference states: Note that for even rather small len(x), the total number of permutations of x is larger than the period of most random number generators; this implies that most permutations of a long sequence can never be generated. Now, I wonder what this "rather small len(x)" means. 100, 1000, 10000,... Can anybody clarify? Thanks!

  • Any way to add tabbed forms in django administration site ?

    - by tomjerry
    When using Django "out-of-the-box" administration forms, the "change form" pages can be rather long for complex models (with a lot of fields). I would like to use tabs in the "change form", so things can be more readable (group fields by tabs...) Instead of doing it all by myself, by modifiying the 'change_form.html' admin template, I was wondering whether somebody has already done that and would like to share the code, or whether an existing Django-plugin already exist. Thanks in advance for you answer

  • Merge two text files at a specific location, sed or awk.

    - by S1syphus
    I have two text files, I want to place a text in the middle of another, I did some research and found information about adding single strings: I have a comment in the second text file called STUFFGOESHERE, so I tried: sed '/^STUFFGOESHERE/a file1.txt' file2.txt sed: 1: "/^STUFFGOESHERE/a long.txt": command a expects \ followed by text So I tried something different, trying to place the contents of the text based on a given line, but no luck. Any ideas?
