  • cuda 5.0 namespaces for contant memory variable usage

    - by Psypher
In my program I want to use a structure containing constant variables and keep it on device all long as the program executes to completion. I have several header files containing the declaration of 'global' functions and their respective '.cu' files for their definitions. I kept this scheme because it helps me contain similar code in one place. e.g. all the 'device' functions required to complete 'KERNEL_1' are separated from those 'device' functions required to complete 'KERNEL_2' along with kernels definitions. I had no problems with this scheme during compilation and linking. Until I encountered constant variables. I want to use the same constant variable through all kernels and device functions but it doesn't seem to work. ########################################################################## CODE EXAMPLE ########################################################################### filename: 'common.h' -------------------------------------------------------------------------- typedef struct { double height; double weight; int age; } __CONSTANTS; __constant__ __CONSTANTS d_const; --------------------------------------------------------------------------- filename: main.cu --------------------------------------------------------------------------- #include "common.h" #include "gpukernels.h" int main(int argc, char **argv) { __CONSTANTS T; T.height = 1.79; T.weight = 73.2; T.age = 26; cudaMemcpyToSymbol(d_consts, &T, sizeof(__CONSTANTS)); test_kernel <<< 1, 16 >>>(); cudaDeviceSynchronize(); } --------------------------------------------------------------------------- filename: gpukernels.h --------------------------------------------------------------------------- __global__ void test_kernel(); --------------------------------------------------------------------------- filename: gpukernels.cu --------------------------------------------------------------------------- #include <stdio.h> #include "gpukernels.h" #include "common.h" __global__ void test_kernel() { printf("Id: %d, height: %f, weight: %f\n", threadIdx.x, d_const.height, d_const.weight); } When I execute this code, the kernel executes, displays the thread ids, but the constant values are displayed as zeros. How can I fix this?

  • how do I iterate through multiple properties in jsp

    - by David
I'm trying to iterate through a properties file which contains a list of keys like: message.p1 message.p2 message.p3 I don't know how many properties will be in the file, so I want to display any that are present. Is there a standard tag like <fmt:message> that can handle this, or do I need to write some jsp script to handle the loop?

  • MidiSystem.getSequencer() returns Audio Device Unavailable

    - by ksemeks
I've keep having an exception thrown, on and on. When i try to make a new Sequencer object, i keep getting the javax.sound.midi.MidiUnavailableException: Audio Device Unavailable exception. So, here's the code: import javax.sound.midi.*; public class MiniMusicPlayer1 { public static void main(String[] args) { try { Sequencer sequencer = MidiSystem.getSequencer(); sequencer.open(); Sequence seq = new Sequence(Sequence.PPQ, 4); Track track = seq.createTrack(); for (int i = 5; i < 61; i += 4) { track.add(makeEvent(144, 1, i, 100, i)); track.add(makeEvent(128, 1, i, 100, (i+2))); } sequencer.setSequence(seq); sequencer.setTempoInBPM(220); sequencer.start(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public static MidiEvent makeEvent(int comd, int chan, int one, int two, int tick) { MidiEvent event = null; try { ShortMessage a = new ShortMessage(); a.setMessage(comd, chan, one, two); event = new MidiEvent(a, tick); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return event; } } And here's the complete error (at compile): javax.sound.midi.MidiUnavailableException: Audio Device Unavailable at com.sun.media.sound.MixerSynth.implOpen(MixerSynth.java:165) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.doOpen(AbstractMidiDevice.java:144) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.openInternal(AbstractMidiDevice.java:134) at com.sun.media.sound.AbstractMidiDevice.getReceiverReferenceCounting(AbstractMidiDevice.java:339) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getReceiver(MidiSystem.java:243) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getSequencer(MidiSystem.java:442) at javax.sound.midi.MidiSystem.getSequencer(MidiSystem.java:348) at MiniMusicPlayer1.main(MiniMusicPlayer1.java:9) First i was unable to play MIDI files on my pc, but then i got it to work, so now i can play MIDI files, that's okay. I tried even to close every process which uses my sound card, but the error is still there. Anyone can help me?

  • remove 2 subviews in one go.

    - by Pavan
hi, I am trying to remove two viewcontrollers (that have been added on top of each other) with one method. I have made the views in interfacebuilder. they all have their own .h and .m files to go with it. Scenario I am in: I have a main menu which has the view2 header file imported. In a method I add the second view on top of the superview like so view2ViewController * view2 = [[view2ViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"view2ViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.view addSubview:view2.view]; then in view 2 I have added the view 3 header file so i can add view 3 as a subview ontop of view2. i have another method which is connected again to interface builder to a UIButton so upon button press a method gets called in view2 which adds view 3 on top in exactly the same way like so: view3ViewController * view3 = [[view3ViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"view3ViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.view addSubview:view3.view]; What im trying to solve: I have a button in view 3 which should remove view 3.... and then it should also remove view 2 aswell so the main screen is visible. How can this be achieved? What I have so far: [self.view removeFromSuperview]; This however only removes View 3... but leaves view 2 in place. What needs to be modified so that i can remove view 2 as well?? Any help is appreciated.

  • List all foreign key constraints that refer to a particular column in a specific table

    - by Sid
I would like to see a list of all the tables and columns that refer (either directly or indirectly) a specific column in the 'main' table via a foreign key constraint that has the ON DELETE=CASCADE setting missing. The tricky part is that there would be an indirect relationships buried across up to 5 levels deep. (example: ... great-grandchild- FK3 = grandchild = FK2 = child = FK1 = main table). We need to dig up the leaf tables-columns, not just the very 1st level. The 'good' part about this is that execution speed isn't of concern, it'll be run on a backup copy of the production db to fix any relational issues for the future. I did SELECT * FROM sys.foreign_keys but that gives me the name of the constraint - not the names of the child-parent tables and the columns in the relationship (the juicy bits). Plus the previous designer used short, non-descriptive/random names for the FK constraints, unlike our practice below The way we're adding constraints into SQL Server: ALTER TABLE [dbo].[UserEmailPrefs] WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_UserEmailPrefs_UserMasterTable_UserId] FOREIGN KEY([UserId]) REFERENCES [dbo].[UserMasterTable] ([UserId]) ON DELETE CASCADE GO ALTER TABLE [dbo].[UserEmailPrefs] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_UserEmailPrefs_UserMasterTable_UserId] GO The comments in this SO question inpire this question.

  • Best way to initialise / clear a string variable cocoa

    - by Spider-Paddy
I have a routine that parses text via a loop. At the end of each record I need to clear my string variables but I read that someString = @"" actually just points to a new string & causes a memory leak. What is the best way to handle this? Should I rather use mutable string vars and use setString:@"" between iterations?

  • Print numbers sequentially using printf with filling zeroes

    - by Werner
Hi, in C++, using printf I want to print a sequence of number, so I get, from a "for" loop; 1 2 ... 9 10 11 and I create files from those numbers. But when I list them using "ls" I get 10 11 1 2 .. so instead of trying to solve the problem using bash, I wonder how could I print; 0001 0002 ... 0009 0010 0011 and so on Thanks

  • Detect session hang and kill it

    - by Jack Juiceson
Hi all, I have an asp.net page that runs certain algorithm and returns it's output. I was wondering what will happen and how to handle a case where the algorithm due to a bug goes into infinite loop. It will hog the cpu and other sessions will be served very slowly. I would love to have a way to tell IIS, if processing Algo.aspx takes more than 5 seconds, kill it or something like that. Thanks in advance

  • How to automatically include a number of images in the SWF file?

    - by Ponty
Hi, i'm trying to include a number of images in my SWF file not by loading them but by embedding them in the SWF itself. I found the following instruction to do that: [Embed(source="../graphics/images/ss0.png")] private var SS0:Class; Basically, i want to embed a different number of images each time. Is there a way to do that automatically (let's say inside a for loop) or do i have to type manually this instruction for each image i want to include?

  • Check directory for files, retrieve first file

    - by Lowgain
I'm writing a small ruby daemon that I am hoping will do the following: Check if a specific directory has files (in this case, .yml files) If so, take the first file (numerically sorted preferrably), and parse into a hash Do a 'yield', with this hash as the argument What I have right now is like: loop do get_next_in_queue { |s| THINGS } end def get_next_in_queue queue_dir = Dir[File.dirname(__FILE__)+'/../queue'] info = YAML::load_file(queue_dir[0]) #not sure if this works or not yield info end I'd like to make the yield conditional if possible, so it only happens if a file is actually found. Thanks!

  • Importing a Mercurial repository automatically (e.g. SVN Externals)

    - by dawmail333
I have a project that I am developing built off CodeIgniter. The main part of the project is a private system I am creating, but I want to add it to source control, to gain all the associated goodies. Now I'm using Mercurial, so I did the whole hg init bit, so I've got the repository set up. Now, one of the things I've done is to make a library for CodeIgniter, which I use in this project. Now I want to make this library open, so I need a separate repo for that. For anyone unfamiliar with CodeIgniter library development, here's a reference: application /config <- configuration files /libraries <- library logic in here Now I will probably develop a few more libraries in the course of this project, so I can't just dump a repo in the application folder without clumping them all together. What I did was this: dev/ci/library <- library here dev/project <- project here Now in both of those folders, I have made a repository. What I want to do is make the project repository automatically reference the library repository, so I can have a private and a public repository, as I explained earlier. The main way to do this, I have read, is to use subrepositories, but I can only find examples on nested ones (which are unclear anyway, I find). How do I make it reference another repository like svn:externals?

  • in haskell, why do I need to specify type constraints, why can't the compiler figure them out?

    - by Steve
Consider the function, add a b = a + b This works: *Main> add 1 2 3 However, if I add a type signature specifying that I want to add things of the same type: add :: a -> a -> a add a b = a + b I get an error: test.hs:3:10: Could not deduce (Num a) from the context () arising from a use of `+' at test.hs:3:10-14 Possible fix: add (Num a) to the context of the type signature for `add' In the expression: a + b In the definition of `add': add a b = a + b So GHC clearly can deduce that I need the Num type constraint, since it just told me: add :: Num a => a -> a -> a add a b = a + b Works. Why does GHC require me to add the type constraint? If I'm doing generic programming, why can't it just work for anything that knows how to use the + operator? In C++ template programming, you can do this easily: #include <string> #include <cstdio> using namespace std; template<typename T> T add(T a, T b) { return a + b; } int main() { printf("%d, %f, %s\n", add(1, 2), add(1.0, 3.4), add(string("foo"), string("bar")).c_str()); return 0; } The compiler figures out the types of the arguments to add and generates a version of the function for that type. There seems to be a fundamental difference in Haskell's approach, can you describe it, and discuss the trade-offs? It seems to me like it would be resolved if GHC simply filled in the type constraint for me, since it obviously decided it was needed. Still, why the type constraint at all? Why not just compile successfully as long as the function is only used in a valid context where the arguments are in Num? Thank you.

  • refactoring my code. My headers (Header Guard Issues)

    - by numerical25
I had a post similar to this awhile ago based on a error I was getting. I was able to fix it but since then I been having trouble doing things because headers keep blocking other headers from using code. Honestly, these headers are confusing me and if anyone has any resources that will address these types of issues, that will be helpful. What I essentially want to do is be able to have rModel.h be included inside RenderEngine.h. every time I add rModel.h to RenderEngine.h, rModel.h is no longer able to use RenderEngine.h. (rModel.h has a #include of RenderEngine.h as well). So in a nutshell, RenderEngine and rModel need to use each others functionalities. On top of all this confusion, the Main.cpp needs to use RenderEngine. stdafx.h #include "targetver.h" #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN // Exclude rarely-used stuff from Windows headers // Windows Header Files: #include <windows.h> // C RunTime Header Files #include <stdlib.h> #include <malloc.h> #include <memory.h> #include <tchar.h> #include "resource.h" main.cpp #include "stdafx.h" #include "RenderEngine.h" #include "rModel.h" // Global Variables: RenderEngine go; rModel *g_pModel; ...code........... rModel.h #ifndef _MODEL_H #define _MODEL_H #include "stdafx.h" #include <vector> #include <string> #include "rTri.h" #include "RenderEngine.h" ........Code RenderEngine.h #pragma once #include "stdafx.h" #include "d3d10.h" #include "d3dx10.h" #include "dinput.h" #include "rModel.h" .......Code......

  • Strange overloading rules in C++

    - by bucels
    I'm trying to compile this code with GCC 4.5.0: #include <algorithm> #include <vector> template <typename T> void sort(T, T) {} int main() { std::vector<int> v; sort(v.begin(), v.end()); } But it doesn't seem to work: $ g++ -c nm.cpp nm.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: nm.cpp:9:28: error: call of overloaded ‘sort(std::vector<int>::iterator, std::vector<int>::iterator)’ is ambiguous nm.cpp:4:28: note: candidates are: void sort(T, T) [with T = __gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<int*, std::vector<int> >] /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.0/../../../../include/c++/4.5.0/bits/stl_algo.h:5199:69: note: void std::sort(_RAIter, _RAIter) [with _RAIter = __gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<int*, std::vector<int> >] Comeau compiles this code without errors.   • Perl, foreach order

    - by Mike
Does Perl's foreach loop operator require that the list items be presented in order? For example my @a=(1,2,3); foreach my $item (@a) { print $item; } will always print 1 2 3? I suspect so, but I can't find it documented.

  • Program always returns binary '>>' : no operator found which takes a left-hand operand of type error

    - by Tom Ward
So I've been set a task to create a temperature converter in C++ using this equation: Celsius = (5/9)*(Fahrenheit – 32) and so far I've come up with this (I've cut out the 10 lines worth of comments from the start so the code posted begins on line 11, if that makes any sense) #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <iomanip> #include <cmath> using namespace std; int main () { float celsius; float farenheit; std::cout << "**************************" << endl; std::cout << "*4001COMP-Lab5-Question 1*" << endl; std::cout << "**************************" << endl << endl; std::cout << "Please enter a temperature in farenheit: "; std::cin >> farenheit >> endl; std::cout << "Temperature (farenheit): " << endl; std::cout << "Temperature (celsius): " << celsius << endl; std::cin.get(); return 0; } Everytime I try to run this program I get a heap of errors with this one appearing every time: 1m:\visual studio 2010\projects\week 5\week 5\main.cpp(26): error C2678: binary '' : no operator found which takes a left-hand operand of type 'std::basic_istream<_Elem,_Traits' (or there is no acceptable conversion) I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of this error but it reappears every time, any idea on how to fix this?

  • How do I change the application background color at run-time in a Flex 3.5 application?

    - by Adam Tuttle
I have a Flex 3.5 application that will serve multiple purposes, and as part of the visual changes that I'd like to make to indicate which mode the application is in, I want to change its background color. Currently, the application tag looks like this: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:com="ventures.view.component.*" xmlns:views="ventures.view.*" layout="absolute" preinitialize="onPreInitialize()" creationComplete="onCreationComplete()" applicationComplete="onApplicationComplete()" click="onClick(event)" enabled="{(!chainController.generalLocked)}" backgroundGradientColors="[0xFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFF]" > I've tried using a binding, for both the backgroundColor and backgroundGradientColors attributes: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" ... backgroundColor="{app_background_color}" > —and— <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" ... backgroundGradientColors="{app_background_color}" > but for the former binding is not allowed, and for the latter there is a warning that: Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to "app_background_color". I also ran across this page which seems to indicate that I could do it with the setStyle() method, but the documentation seems to indicate that this method is only available for components, not the main canvas. I suppose I could wrap everything in a <mx:Canvas></mx:Canvas> specificially for this purpose, but that seems wasteful—like Div-itis in HTML or something. What's the best way to change the main application background color at run-time?

  • C++ Using a class from a header within a class

    - by Kotsuzui
I'm having a bit of trouble with classes used within classes, from header files. I have an class time in time.h: class Time { private: int hour, second, minute; public: . . . int getHour(int h); etc. setHour(); etc. void print24hour(); // Prints time in 24 hour format } And then, main.cpp: #include "time.h" class Class { private: string name; double grade; Time startTime; Time endTime; public: Class(); ~Class(); void setName(); void setGrade(); etc. } int main() { //Need to print time in 24 hour format, but I don't know how. class[i].startTime.print24(getStartTime()); // ??? I'm rather lost } I get quite a few "hour, second, minute, etc." are private errors, I'm guessing I'm doing something simple in a rather wrong way. Please help.

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times. See it live at euroworker.no/order (add items to basket) In FF and Chrome. Thanks.

  • Objective C "do - while" question

    - by Rob
The example for one of the exercises in the book I am reading shows the following code: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; int input, reverse, numberOfDigits; reverse = 0; numberOfDigits = 0; NSLog (@"Please input a multi-digit number:"); scanf ("%i", &input); if ( input < 0 ) { input = -input; NSLog (@"Minus"); } do { reverse = reverse * 10 + input % 10; numberOfDigits++; } while (input /= 10); do { switch ( reverse % 10 ) { case 0: NSLog (@"Zero"); break; case 1: NSLog (@"One"); break; case 2: NSLog (@"Two"); break; case 3: NSLog (@"Three"); break; case 4: NSLog (@"Four"); break; case 5: NSLog (@"Five"); break; case 6: NSLog (@"Six"); break; case 7: NSLog (@"Seven"); break; case 8: NSLog (@"Eight"); break; case 9: NSLog (@"Nine"); break; } numberOfDigits--; } while (reverse /= 10); while (numberOfDigits--) { NSLog (@"Zero"); } [pool drain]; return 0; } My question is this, the while statement shows (input /= 10) which, if I understand this correctly basically means (input = input / 10). Now, if that is true, why doesn't the loop just run continuously? I mean, even if you were to divide 0 by 10 then that would still extract a number. If the user was to input "50607", it would first cut off the "7", then the "0", and so on and so on, but why does it exit the loop after removing the "5". Wouldn't the response after the "5" be the same as the "0" between the 5 and the 6 to the program?
