  • Get Ajax4JSF (a4j component) running on Glassfish

    - by yournamehere
I'm trying to build an JEE6-application on Glassfish V3, using JSF 2.0, Weld, JPA2 and Maven. Now i'm having trouble getting a simple <a4j:support> running. This is the fragment of my little example. When typing something into the inputtext, the outputtext should automatically be updated. But nothing happens (not in Firefox, not in IE8). <ui:composition xmlns:a4j="https://ajax4jsf.dev.java.net/ajax" (...)> <h:inputText value="#{personHome.message}"> <a4j:support event="onkeyup" reRender="repeater"/> </h:inputText> <h:outputText id="repeater" value="#{personHome.message}"/> Beside that my example doesn't work, my problem is also that i don't really understand if i need a JSF implementation (MyFaces, Richfaces, Primefaces etc.) or not to use a4j elements. Is it "built-in" in glassfish? Until now, i only have the following dependencies i think i need in for JSF: <dependency> <groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId> <artifactId>jsf-api</artifactId> <version>2.0.2</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>com.sun.faces</groupId> <artifactId>jsf-impl</artifactId> <version>2.0.2</version> </dependency>I'm trying to build an JEE6-application on Glassfish V3, using JSF 2.0, Weld, JPA2 and Maven. <dependency> <groupId>javax</groupId> <artifactId>javaee-api</artifactId> <version>6.0</version> <scope>provided</scope> </dependency> So... what do i have to do to get Ajax4JSF running on a simple JEE-App on Glassfish? Any help is highly appreciated!

  • JavaScript: What would cause setInterval to stop firing?

    - by Rosarch
    I am writing a chat AJAX app. Randomly, in FF 3.5.9, setInterval() seems to stop firing. I don't have clearInterval() anywhere in my code. What could be causing this to happen? $(document).ready(function () { $("#no-js-warning").empty(); messageRefresher = new MessageRefresher(0); setInterval($.proxy(messageRefresher, "refresh"), 2000); }); function notifyInRoom(user) { $.getJSON('API/users_in_room', { room_id: $.getUrlVar('key'), username: user }, function (users) { if (!$.isEmptyObject(users)) { $("#users").empty(); $.each(users, function (index, username) { var newChild = sprintf("<li>%s</li>", username); $("#users").append(newChild); }); } else { $("#users-loading-msg").text("No one is in this room."); } }); } function MessageRefresher(latest_mid) { this._latest_mid = latest_mid; } MessageRefresher.prototype.refresh = function () { notifyInRoom($("#user-name").val()); var refresher = this; $.getJSON('API/read_messages', { room_id: $.getUrlVar('key'), mid: refresher._latest_mid }, function (messages) { if (! (messages == null || $.isEmptyObject(messages[0]))) { // messages will always be at least [[], [], 0] $("#messages-loading-msg").hide(); for (var i = 0; i < messages[0].length; i++) { var newChild = sprintf('<li><span class="username">%s:</span> %s</li>', messages[1][i], messages[0][i]); $("#messages").append(newChild); } refresher._latest_mid = messages[2]; setUserBlockClass(); } else { $("#messages-loading-msg").text("No messages here. Say anything..."); } }); } // Give the end-user-block class to the appropriate messages // eg, those where the next message is by a different user function setUserBlockClass() { $("#messages li").each(function (index) { if ($(this).children(".username").text() != $(this).next().children(".username").text()) { $(this).addClass("end-user-block"); } }); } I checked the most recent responses in Firebug, and it was the same responses that had been sent earlier. (So, it's not like an unusual response caused a crash.) If I refresh the page, the calls resume.

  • Why do calls to waveOutGetPosition hang?

    - by MusiGenesis
I'm using the winmm.dll API method waveOutGetPosition to get the current position of the playback of a WAV file. Sometimes this works as expected for me, but eventually one of the calls never returns and my application locks up. I found this thread with a few users who have experienced the same problem: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsgeneraldevelopmentissues/thread/c6a1e80e-4a18-47e7-af11-56a89f638ad7 but no solution. Has anyone run into this problem before?

  • Best Project Template to use for Classic Web Service

    - by coffeeaddict
I'm going to create a new PayPal project. Should I just create a regular Class Library project then add the reference to the WSDL? We are not using WCF. I just want to know what the best project type / template I should use if I'm going to share this project with lets say another WAP web project. I simply want to create wrappers for some of the WSDL that we'll be using in part of the PayPal API.

  • How to get LAN ip to a variable in a Windows batch file

    - by Ville Koskinen
I'm streaming audio from my Windows 7 laptop to a sound card attached to a router. I have a little batch script to start streaming. REM Kill any instances of vlc taskkill /im vlc.exe "c:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" <parameters to start http streaming> REM Wait for vlc TIMEOUT /T 10 REM start playback on router plink -ssh [email protected] -pw password killall -9 madplay plink -ssh [email protected] -pw password wget -q -O - http://192.1.159:8080/audio | madplay -Q --no-tty-control - & As you see the http stream is hard coded. It would be nice to get the address dynamically to reuse the script on other machines. Any ideas?

  • Is there an easy way to read an XML file in Java?

    - by user303135
I'm fairly new to Java and am writing an app that needs an XML config file. The problem I have is that there doesn't seem to be any easy way to do this, which seems a bit strange. I've looked SAX and DOM and both seem quite complicated. Are there any other good API's out there? What's the best way to do this in Java? Thanks...

  • Where lies the soul of a computer?

    - by Christian
When you take the system drive and put it in a new box, do you rename it or do you keep the name? And when you put a fresh drive in the old box, do you give it a new name? What is with upgrading? How many of the components do you have to change until a computer loses its identity? So a CPU is often described as the heart or the brain of a computer but where lies its soul? What determines its identity? The data on the system drive? The majority of its components? This might sound like a not-so-serious question and it probably is but whom of you didn't already face this problem?

  • Django: Group by?

    - by Mark
I'm looking for something like the following: previous_invoices = Invoice.objects.filter(is_open=False).order_by('-created').group_by('user') (group_by() doesn't exist) This would find the most recently closed invoice for each user. This aggregation API seems to let you do stuff like this for counts and sums, but I don't need a count or sum or anything, I actually want the invoice objects!

  • Using oauth with wordpress

    - by Andrew
I am creating a twitter plugin for wordpress and I was told that when using oauth you can't really make the plugin act natively because each time the user installs the plugin they have to add their own twitter api credentials because of the callback url. Is this correct? Or is there a workaround for this? Thanks for your help in advance!

  • Fujitsu Siemens V6535 laptop doesn't wake up - crash when going into standby?

    - by marc
I'm having trouble with my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens model V6535). It runs Windows 7, and after I upgraded from Vista I've noticed something that makes me really angry. When my laptop goes into Standby, the power LED changes to red and starts blinking (standby mode). When I push the power button to wake it up it, the blinking LED changes to green but nothing else happens. Nothing on the display, no HDD sound. When I press the power button for a few seconds and then try turn it on again, it doesn't display anything. I have to unplug the charger, shut it off, and power it on again without the power cable. Then it starts working. A few days ago I upgraded the BIOS to the newest version, but it doesn't help. Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong?

  • What's the standard algorithm for syncing two lists of objects?

    - by Oliver Giesen
I'm pretty sure this must be in some kind of text book (or more likely in all of them) but I seem to be using the wrong keywords to search for it... :( A common task I'm facing while programming is that I am dealing with lists of objects from different sources which I need to keep in sync somehow. Typically there's some sort of "master list" e.g. returned by some external API and then a list of objects I create myself each of which corresponds to an object in the master list. Sometimes the nature of the external API will not allow me to do a live sync: For instance the external list might not implement notifications about items being added or removed or it might notify me but not give me a reference to the actual item that was added or removed. Furthermore, refreshing the external list might return a completely new set of instances even though they still represent the same information so simply storing references to the external objects might also not always be feasible. Another characteristic of the problem is that both lists cannot be sorted in any meaningful way. You should also assume that initializing new objects in the "slave list" is expensive, i.e. simply clearing and rebuilding it from scratch is not an option. So how would I typically tackle this? What's the name of the algorithm I should google for? In the past I have implemented this in various ways (see below for an example) but it always felt like there should be a cleaner and more efficient way. Here's an example approach: Iterate over the master list Look up each item in the "slave list" Add items that do not yet exist Somehow keep track of items that already exist in both lists (e.g. by tagging them or keeping yet another list) When done iterate once more over the slave list Remove all objects that have not been tagged (see 4.) Update Thanks for all your responses so far! I will need some time to look at the links. Maybe one more thing worthy of note: In many of the situations where I needed this the implementation of the "master list" is completely hidden from me. In the most extreme cases the only access I might have to the master list might be a COM-interface that exposes nothing but GetFirst-, GetNext-style methods. I'm mentioning this because of the suggestions to either sort the list or to subclass it both of which is unfortunately not practical in these cases unless I copy the elements into a list of my own and I don't think that would be very efficient. I also might not have made it clear enough that the elements in the two lists are of different types, i.e. not assignment-compatible: Especially, the elements in the master list might be available as interface references only.

  • How does operating system software maintains time clocks?

    - by Neeraj
Hi everyone, This may sound a bit less relevant but I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question. Now consider this situation, you install an OS on your system, set the timezone and time, do some stuff and turn it off. (Note that there is no power going in to the computer). Now next time (say after some hours or days) you turn it on again, and you see the updated time. How is this possible even when my computer is not connected to the internet and was consuming no power during the period it was down.(Is there some kind of hardware hack?) please clarify!

  • Why no DatePicker.setDateChangedListener() method

    - by OceanBlue
Since most widgets have a standard method of setting a listener, setOnXXXListener(), just wondering why there is no setDateChangedListener() method for DatePicker? I know init(int, int, int, OnDateChangedListener) can be used for the same purpose, but surely there must be some reason why Google decided not to use the standard method here. I went through the API docs and couldn't find the reason. Would one of the gurus here know the answer to this?

  • MBProgressHUD for Mac? - Cocoa

    - by Kevin
Hey there everyone, So I'm used to the iPhone API, and I used MBProgressHUD a lot in my iPhone applications, but since I started developing apps for the Mac I noticed that I can't use MBProgressHUD. Is there an alternative that will do the same job as the MBProgressHUD? I notice that apple has it in their OS as well. If anyone could help me find an alternative for MBProgressHUD, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks, Kevin

  • Error using a hyphen as an object property name in Flex

    - by John Leonard
I'm trying to assemble a header object for an api request. One of the headers is 'Content-Type'. The hyphen is causing a compile error. Flex is giving me: 1050 - Cannot assign to a non-reference value. I find it spiteful that they enjoy the use of a hyphen in the error message while I hang my head and come here for answers.

  • Caching Reverse-Proxy ISP Host for a Low-Bandwidth Server

    - by Casey
I am building a webcam w/ HTTP server that will be running from a low-bandwith connection. The content on the site will be changing every 5 to 10 minutes. Instead of serving files directly from this connection, are there hosting companies that can act as a reverse proxy for my site? Therefore, if nobody is using the site, the local internet connection remains idle. And if I receive 1000 hits all at the same time, only one HTTP GET is required, and the hosting company (on a fat pipe) continues serving the other 999 requests? This doesn't sound like a very common usage model, but I feel like this would be the optimal solution to my situation.

  • What's a good matrix manipulation library available for C ?

    - by banister
Hi, I am doing a lot of image processing in C and I need a good, reasonably lightweight, and above all FAST matrix manipulation library. I am mostly focussing on affine transformations and matrix inversions, so i do not need anything too sophisticated or bloated. Primarily I would like something that is very fast (using SSE perhaps?), with a clean API and (hopefully) prepackaged by many of the unix package management systems. Note this is for C not for C++. Thanks :)
