  • What is the correct way to create a single instance application?

    - by Nidonocu
Using C# and WPF under .net (rather than WindowsForms or console), what is the correct way to create an application that can only be run as a single instance? I know it has something to do with some mythical thing called a mutex, rarely can I find someone that bothers to stop and explain what one of these are. The code needs to also inform the already running instance that the user tried to start a second one, and maybe also pass any command line arguments if any existed.

  • How to create picture slideshows in a rails project? Flash or otherwise

    - by Janak
In a rails project how would I create a picture slideshow? It could be generated as flash or use prototype or something else. I just want a series of images (as a sub-part of a web page, not be the whole page) to fade into each other, and to advance manually if clicked. It would be nice if I could do things like slowly zoom into the images I imagine there must be a plugin or something to handle this?

    - by user248959
Hi, this SQL clause is working OK: SELECT * FROM `sf_guard_user` WHERE nombre_apellidos LIKE REPLACE('Mar Sanz',' ','%') Now I'm trying to write this query for Doctrine. I have tried this: $query->andWhere(sprintf('%s.%s LIKE REPLACE (?," ","%")', $query->getRootAlias(), $fieldName), 'Mar Sanz')); but I get this error: Warning: sprintf() [function.sprintf]: Too few arguments Any idea? Regards Javi

  • How to add a cross-browser mouse wheel function to a div in javascript?

    - by Shaunwithanau
I am trying to stop the default mouse wheel event that is called on the window and on a div and call my own function instead on the div. I need this to be cross-browser (without the use of a library. I know I need to use an eventListener and I think have to use both onmousewheel and DOMMouseScroll (for FF) but I think am getting caught up in the implementation somewhere. I appreciate any and all help.

  • speed of map() vs. list comprehension vs. numpy vectorized function in python

    - by mcstrother
I have a function foo(i) that takes an integer and takes a significant amount of time to execute. Will there be a significant performance difference between any of the following ways of initializing 'a': a = [foo(i) for i in xrange(100)] , a = map(foo, range(100)) , and vfoo = numpy.vectorize(foo) vfoo(range(100)) ? (I don't care whether the output is a list or a numpy array). Is there some other better way of doing this? Thanks.

  • how to return NULL for double function with Intel C compiler?

    - by Derek
I have some code that I am porting from an SGI system using the MIPS compiler. It has functions that are declared to have double return type. If the function can't find the right double, those functions return "NULL" The intel C compiler does not like this, but I was trying to see if there is a compiler option to enable this "feature" so that I can compile without changing code. I checked the man page, and can't seem to find it. Thanks

  • How to create dynamic number of output files with SSIS?

    - by JSacksteder
I will be creating flatfiles and based on the data in the batch, it might be necessary to split the data into an undetermined number of files. I can make the connection string dynamic with an expression, but that is only evaluated when the package starts. I'd like to change that expression to include a '-a' or '-b' in the filename. Alternately, if I have to create new connection manager objects at run time on demand, how do I go about that?

  • How can I retrieve all the returned variables from a function?

    - by user1447941
import random def some_function(): example = random.randint(0, 1) if example == 1: other_example = 2 else: return False return example, other_example With this example, there is a chance that either one or two variables will be returned. Usually, for one variable I'd use var = some_function() while for two, var, var2 = some_function(). How can I tell how many variables are being returned by the function?

  • Why does this anonymous function starting with println result in a NullPointerException?

    - by noahz
I am learning about pmap and wrote the following function: (pmap #((println "hello from " (-> (Thread/currentThread) .getName)) (+ %1 %2)) [1 1 1] [-1 -1 -1]) When run, the result is a NullPointerException (hello from clojure-agent-send-off-pool-4 hello from clojure-agent-send-off-pool-3 hello from clojure-agent-send-off-pool-5 NullPointerException user/eval55/fn--56 (NO_SOURCE_FILE:11) Why is this happening? I have understood and observed the body of a fn to be an implicit do.

  • How to create a Link that supplies its own Markup?

    - by Aranian
I'm trying to create a link that will hide or show a part of my page. The link should be reusable and display one of two images, depending on state. Adding the two subcomponents on every page where I use the link is kind of clunky so I wanted to create a component that behaves like a link while automatically adding its content. This is the Link component: public class ToggleVisibilityLink extends AjaxFallbackLink<Boolean> { public ToggleVisibilityLink(final String id, final IModel<Boolean> model) { super(id, model); setOutputMarkupId(true); add(new Image("collapseImage") { @Override public boolean isVisible() { return !getModelObject(); } }); add(new Image("expandImage") { @Override public boolean isVisible() { return getModelObject(); } }); } @Override public void onClick(final AjaxRequestTarget target) { setModelObject(!getModelObject()); if (target != null) { target.add(this); send(this.getParent(), Broadcast.EXACT, target); } } } And this is how I currently use it in HTML (this is added to the page or panel where I use the link): <a href="#" wicket:id="collapseExpandLink" class="collapseExpandLink"> <wicket:link> <img src="collapse.png" wicket:id="collapseImage" class="collapseExpandImage collapse"> </wicket:link> <wicket:link> <img src="expand.png" wicket:id="expandImage" class="collapseExpandImage expand"> </wicket:link> </a> And the corresponding Java call: add(new ToggleVisibilityLink("collapseExpandLink", new PropertyModel(this, "hidden"))); But I want to be able to skip the body inside the link as one would have to know about the internals of ToggleVisibilityLink. I experimented with IMarkupResourceStreamProvider, using Dynamic markup in Wicket as a starting point. By googling I found another example where the poster was only able to get that to work when using a Panel, and I was able to do that as well. But I'd really like to keep the link and not package it inside a Panel, as I would not be able to style the link in the markup. I'm also open to alternatives to encapsulate the link and its body.

  • How do I create a gradient button on an iPhone?

    - by jkp
How can I create a button that looks like the one found in the screenshot below on an iPhone with the 3.0 SDK? It's a button that shows when connecting to a host iTunes library from the iTunes remote. Is it a case of writing a custom control or is this a stock style?
