  • How to get SQL Profiler to monitor trigger execution

    - by firedfly
I have a trace setup for SQL Server Profiler to monitor SQL that is executed on a database. I recently discovered that trigger execution is not included in the trace. After looking through available events for a trace, I do not see any that look like they would include trigger execution. Does anyone know how to setup a trace to monitor the execution of triggers?

  • Good practice : compare a value with a boolean?

    - by NLemay
Most of the time, I prefer to write this : if(isWelcome() == true){} if(isWelcome() == false){} instead of this if(isWelcome()){} if(!isWelcome()){} Because I feel that it is easier to read (but I do understand that it doesn't make sense). I would like to know if there is a common agreement about this practice. What most developer do? And I'm wondering if the compiler is doing the extra comparaison, or if it understand that it is useless.

  • How to extract keywords from a body of text in PHP

    - by Akeem
Currently I'm leveraging http://developer.yahoo.com/search/content/V1/termExtraction.html which isn't ideal for performance and quality reasons. Before I embark on spending time on writing a system I wanted to see if there are any other available options that can do the trick.

Hey guys and gals, Any one knows of an easy to use/well documented Facebook library for VB.NET? I have searched the Interwebs for it for a long time and even the official one has a very poor documentation for beginners. It looks like you have to be a Facebook developer to work with them. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

  • How can I programmatically add triggers to an ASP.NET UpdatePanel?

    - by scottm
    I am trying to write a quote generator. For each product, there are a set of options. I want to dynamically add a drop down list for each option, and then have their SelectedIndexChanged events all wired up to update the quote cost. I am not having any trouble adding the DropDownList controls to my UpdatePanel, but I can't seem to wire up the events. After the page loads, the drop downs are there, with their data, but changing them does not call the SelectedIndexChanged event handler, nor does the QuoteUpdatePanel update. I have something like this: QuotePanel.ASCX <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager" runat="server" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="QuoteUpdatePanel" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true"> <ContentTemplate> Cost: <asp:Label ID="QuoteCostLabel" runat="server" /> <fieldset id="standard-options"> <legend>Standard Options</legend> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="StandardOptionsUpdatePanel" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </fieldset> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> The code to add the dropdowns and the event they are to be wire up for: protected void PopluateUpdatePanel(IQuoteProperty standardOptions) foreach (IQuoteProperty standardOp in standardOptions) { QuotePropertyDropDownList<IQuoteProperty> dropDownList = new QuotePropertyDropDownList<IQuoteProperty>(standardOp); dropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged += new EventHandler(QuotePropertyDropDown_SelectedIndexChanged); dropDownList.ID = standardOp.GetType().Name + "DropDownList"; ScriptManager.RegisterAsyncPostBackControl(dropDownList); Label propertyLabel = new Label() {Text = standardOp.Title, CssClass = "quote-property-label"}; this.StandardOptionsUpdatePanel.ContentTemplateContainer.Controls.Add(propertyLabel); this.StandardOptionsUpdatePanel.ContentTemplateContainer.Controls.Add(dropDownList); _standardOptionsListBoxes.Add(dropDownList); AsyncPostBackTrigger trigger = new AsyncPostBackTrigger() { ControlID = dropDownList.UniqueID, EventName = "SelectedIndexChanged" }; this.StandardOptionsUpdatePanel.Triggers.Add(trigger); } } void QuotePropertyDropDown_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { QuoteCostLabel.Text = QuoteCost.ToString(); }

  • What's the best way to tell if the mouse is over a form or not?

    - by cyclotis04
I figured out how to capture mouse clicks over the entire form, but this method doesn't translate well for MouseEnter and MouseLeave. My form layout is made up from many Panels and TableLayoutPanels so there's no all-encompassing control I can monitor events for, and obviously a MouseLeave event for a button doesn't mean the cursor left the entire form. Has anyone figured out a good way to get around this?

  • Git aliases that are stored in origin

    - by jga
I use git with a big development team and I'd like to have a set of aliases be common across every developer. They change every so often, so I'd like to store them in origin somehow. Is there any way to set that up in git? I'm using gitosis for the git server (not sure if that would make a difference).

  • What is the current state of the art in HTML canvas JavaScript libraries and frameworks?

    - by Toby Hede
I am currently investigating options for working with the canvas in a new HTML 5 application, and was wondering what is the current state of the art in HTML canvas JavaScript libraries and frameworks? In particular, are there frameworks that support the kind of things needed for game development - complex animation, managing scene graphs, handling events and user interactions? Also willing to consider both commercial and open source products.

  • Performance issues with testing on an ADP2

    - by Stuart
I have an Android Developer Phone with Android 1.6 installed, sometimes it will take 30 seconds for the home screen to appear after a call or exiting from an application. Why is my phone so slow? Should I replace the memory card? Also, when is the 2.0 coming out for the ADP2? How do I install it?

  • I'm new to OOP/PHP. What's the practicality of visibility and extensibility in classes?

    - by marcdev
I'm obviously brand new to these concepts. I just don't understand why you would limit access to properties or methods. It seems that you would just write the code according to intended results. Why would you create a private method instead of simply not calling that method? Is it for iterative object creation (if I'm stating that correctly), a multiple developer situation (don't mess up other people's work), or just so you don't mess up your own work accidentally?

  • How to tell visual studio that i have installed visual C# too?

    - by Rajesh Kumar
I got visual studio 2005 express edition installed on my machine. But it did not contain any C# or web developer with it. So i later installed visual C# too. Now , I can create a C# project through visual C#. But I cant use visual studio for the same purpose. I guess there would be some mechanism to integrate visual C# with visual studio. Can anyone help me out?

  • cocoa -- What is the proper way to tell an NSWindow to redisplay its contents?

    - by William Jockusch
According to the NSWindow Class Reference, you should "rarely need to invoke" the NSWindow methods "display" or "setViewsNeedDisplay". So what is the usual way to redisplay the window's contents? EDIT: I am having trouble dealing with resizing events. I just want to have everything scale proportionally. See this question. As no one seems to have any ideas for using masks to get it to happen, I want to redraw the whole thing.
