• Oracle global_names DELETE problem

  I'm using a database link to execute a DELETE statement on another DB, but the DB link name doesn't conform to global naming, and this requirement cannot change. Also I have global_names set to false, and cannot be changed either. When I try to use these links however, I receive: ORA-02069: - global_names parameter must be set to TRUE for this operation Cause: A remote mapping of the statement is required but cannot be achieved because GLOBAL_NAMES should be set to TRUE for it to be achieved. - Action: Issue `ALTER SESSION SET GLOBAL_NAMES = TRUE` (if possible) What is the alternative action when setting global_names=true is not possible?   I have read all the questions I could find on it on SO, but none answers my question. I have a module foo, containing util.py and bar.py. I want to import it in IDLE or python session. How do I go about this? I could find no documentation on how to import modules not in the current directory or the default python PATH. After trying import "<full path>/foo/util.py", and from "<full path>" import util The closest I could get was import imp imp.load_source('foo.util','C:/.../dir/dir2/foo') Which gave me Permission denied on windows 7.

  I am looking for TDD resources that are specific to Rails. I've seen the Rails Guide: The Basics of Creating a Rails Plugin which really spurred my interest in the topic. I have the Agile Development with Rails book and I see there's some testing-related information there. However, it seems like the author takes you through the steps of building the app, then adds testing afterward. This isn't really Test Driven Development. Ideally, I'd like a book on this, but a collection of other tutorials or articles would be great if such a book doesn't exist. Things I'd like to learn: Primary goal: Best Practices Unit testing How to utilize Fixtures Possibly using existing development data in place of fixtures What's the community standard here? • problem with generating PDF and session_start()

  Hi All, I've been using PDF class produced by R&OS successfully in a number of recent developments. I'd like to use it in a page that performs a database query before generating a PDF (it's basically a summary of the session, so I'm using session_id() as part of the query) All is fine if I run this in Firefox - not fine in IE. I think the loading of session_start() is doing something with headers that's upsetting IE as it appears unable to load the page (comment off session_start and the page loads fine). I'm getting a little concerned as, on further investigation, it appears that R&OS is not supported ... bad newbie learning experience and I really don't want to have to try adopt another class system this late in the day. Have you any thoughts as to what I could try next? Thankx G

Since tests can usually be run separately. So the result of Create may never be cleaned up by Delete.

• ExpandEnvironmentStrings Not Expanding My Variables

  I have a process under the Run key in the registry. It is trying to access an environment variable that I have defined in a previous session. I'm using ExpandEnvironmentStrings to expand the variable within a path. The environment variable is a user profile variable. When I run my process on the command line it does not expand as well. If I call 'set' I can see the variable. Some code... • Read and write .NET Objects in SQL Database without serialization.

  Hello, I have a small query. I need to create a Caching Service of my own that will write and read .NET Objects to and from the Database. Now, I have achieved that with the help of Binary Serialization. But the Problem is I need to deliberately marked my objects as [Serializable], which makes me think that what if someone will try to add an object which is not marked as [Serializable]. Thus, I need to find a way to read and write Objects to Database without Serialization. I have one thought too.. As we all know Session can store any object in it. Now, we can make sessions to be stored in the DB, outproc. What mechanism it uses to store these objects without serializing or deserializing. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks. M.B

• CakePHP delete() function is not working

  Hello, Im just cracking open cakePHP (v1.3.2). I set it up on my local wamp server, seems to work fine except the delete() function doesn't work. I'm following their blog tutorial exactly, its as simple as it can be so I don't understand why its not working. Heres the function in my PostsController class: function delete($id = NULL) { $this->Post->delete($id); $this->Session->setFlash('The post with id: '.$id.' has been deleted.'); $this->redirect(array('action'=>'index')); } The "Delete" link's url looks like http://localhost/posts/delete/id:1 (where the id number matches the particular post, obviously). It redirects and sets the flash message, however there is no number where $id should be in the message, and the post isn't deleted. It seems the proper id is passed through the url, but I don't think it is getting into the function. I dont get it. Any ideas???

  Not that i need it but it was interesting to hear someone speak about their server and protecting it from DOS attack by having a puzzle that the client must solve before the server will do anything (it doesnt do allocations or make a session unless solved). The person also said puzzles can be made to take a quick amount of time or long. And they are easy to check if it is solve correctly but difficult to solve. What are these puzzles? I never heard of one. Can someone give an example (link?)

• linq .net with dynamically generated controls

  This is a very strange problem and i really dont have a clue whats causing it. What is supposed to happen is that a call to the BLL then DAL returns some data via a linq SPROC call. The retunred IMultipleResults object is processed and all results stored in a hashtable. The hashtable is stored in session and then the UI layer uses these results to dynamically generate some gridviews. Easy you would think. But if i run the code i dont get any gridviews. If i take out the call to the BLL and DAL the gridviews appear but with nothing in them? Why is it the page renders correctly when i take out the call to get the data? Thanks.

  i have the following query and its failing in Nhibernate 3 LINQ witha a "Non supported" exception. Its similar to this question but this question was asked over a year ago so i am positive that the answer is out of date. MS-Access DB. i do: INSERT INTO Orders (userId) VALUES (123)" what i want to retrieve is orderNumber from that row. its an auto-increment number. so i did: SELECT orderNumber FROM Orders WHERE userId=123 but since it is on the same page, the SELECT returns: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted.   i have a collection in the mapping: <bag name="Values" cascade="all-delete-orphan" lazy="false" inverse="true"> <key column="[TemplateId]"/> <one-to-many class="MyNamespace.Value, MyLib"/> </bag> the Value object has a foreign key [TemplateId]. both entities has their generator set to "identity". when i call session.Save() for the parent Template object, the Value objects has their [TemplateId] (the foreign key) set to zero, so an SQL exception appears. how do i forse nhibernate to set the FK value for the child items to the value of the inserted parent object?

  I have trouble using Facebook auth on my website... I'm using the PHP Sdk and I don't understand why I can use some functions like "getLoginUrl"/"getLoginStatusUrl"/"getUser" (with right answers : the facebook session is started, i get the user's facebook ID) and when I want to use something like $me = $facebook->api("/me/permissions"); or just $me = $facebook->api("/me"); there's always an exception and nothing works ... I guess it has something to do with permissions or token maybe, but I don't know what. When the user sign up on my website, I ask permissions I need with this scope : "email,user_about_me,user_location,read_friendlists,publish_stream" A clue that the permissions seem to be ok is that when the exception occures, I ask the user to sign in again (facebook connect) and no window appears as if everything's ok, but still, the page is reloaded and the exception appears again and again... Please help, Thank you !

• iPad --- managedObject problem when [self.tableViewSection reloadData]

  Hi , I am creating a news aggregator application that fetches a xml feed every 4 minutes. After the xml is loaded, I clear everything by deleting all the objects in the database, then save the new objects back into the database. I then call [self.tableViewSection reloadData]; to reload the tableView. Thats when I get a problem. As soon as the code gets to a section where i access the new [[managedObject valueForKey:@"event_text"] description] content it fails with a : * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSObjectInaccessibleException', reason: 'CoreData could not fulfill a fault for '0x4b3f6a0 '' Now from the flow I described on top, it seems odd to me that the tableView is populated properly the next time i launch the application, with the "new" data I fetched in the previous session. So its not that data thats corrupt , but seems to me something goes wrong when I refetch the managedObject after saving new data. Also keep in mind thats this app runs fine on the iPhone, its the iPad thats is giving me this problem.

• Fork a process and send data to it inside Rails

  I'm making a Rails application. In the one action I need to spawn a long running process. This is not a problem. I can fork new process using spawn gem or some other. But some time after process has been spawned, user must be able to pass additional data to that process. Sure, I can fork process which will listen a UNIX socket, store socket address in the HTTP session and communicate with that process using drb protocol when user will require to pass new data to process. But I think it is not best solution and it will be a problem to deploy an application to the hosting. What is the easy way to do that?

• LINQ to SQL DB Connections not closing

  I am using LINQ to SQL in an asp.net mvc application. I am calling stored procedures via ajax calls. The active connections for 2-3 users goes to 100 active connections. and then server timeouts happen. I then used IOC -autofac to resuse the same repository that has a datacontext. now tho i get an active connection on the SQL server per loggedin user plus one. I have never seen this before. Why wouldnt Lin2sql not drop a connection when not in use? would calling a stored procedure in an ajax call in a loggedin session creat an a new active connection? Could a Stored Procedure with loops and or a waitfor hold open a connection??

• Updating a popup window from source page

  I have a list of people wrapped in a-tags with onclick for opening a popup window. That popup window contains a previous and next button that invoker a function in the parent window to get the previous/next a-tag and execute the onclick for it. nextAnchor.onclick(); This should update the popup window with the new persons info, but it doesn't update. Adding an alert("") right after makes it update. What i found searching is something about having to leaving the session before JavaScript will update the display and they suggested using setTimeout. Problem is i'm calling on a DOM element and i can't send it in to the setTimeout, so i ended up with setTimeout('eval("'+nextAnchor.getAttribute("onClick")+'")',10); So is there another way to make it update or a way of making the setTimeout use the onclick of a DOM element or is this an acceptable solution even though it uses eval?

• Creating Pages with unique PageMaps

  I have a wicket Application that has long lived Pages. I would like each instance of this Page to be created with a unique PageMap for reasons I won't get into here, but when I try to specify a PageMap on the constructor of my Page I end up getting OOM and StackOverflow errors. Here is the code: public <CTOR>() { super(Session.get().newPageMap("" + System.currentTimeMillis())); ... I'm using a custom BookmarkablePageLink (custom in that it does not pass on the current PageMap name to the new Page) to effectively abandon the old Page/PageMap and create a new one with a new PageMap. The errors seem to be coming from page serialization after only two or three pages have been created. Can anyone find issue with this approach?

As far as I am aware the only relationship is Foo-Bar-Zar, i.e. the reference to Zar is not occurring anywhere else. Is my understanding of AddJoin correct? What could be going wrong? List item

• Debugging (displaying) SQL command sent to the db by SQLAlchemy

  I have an ORM class called Person, which wraps around a person table: After setting up the connection to the db etc, I run the ff statement. people = session.query(Person).all() The person table does not contain any data (as yet), so when I print the variable people, I get an empty list. I renamed the table referred to in my ORM class People, to people_foo (which does not exist). I then run the script again. I was surprised that no exception was thrown when attempting to access a table that does not exist. I therefore have the following 2 questions: How may I setup SQLAlchemy so that it propagates db errors back to the script? How may I view (i.e. print) the SQL that is being sent to the db engine If it helps, I am using PostgreSQL as the db
