  • jQuery Looking for a function to equalize heights of divs based on tallest image in a table.

    I am doing a site that will have a table with a bunch of images in them. They are user added images so I have no control over aspect ratio, what I do have control over is I can the force a max height/width and the image will not exceed this in either direction, but the height can (and will) fluctuate. <table class="pl_upload"> <tr class="row1"> <td class="col1"> <div> <div class="img-container"> <a href="#"><img src="img.jpg" width="182" alt="X" /></a> </div> </div> </td> ....... What I need ideally is to get the height of the tallest image and then make the all of the children divs the same height based on the height of the tallest one.   • How do I submit a form using jquery (ajaxForm plugin) to an external site but not reload to a differ

    Hi, I'm trying to create a form that sends the customer's name and email address to icontact (an email list application). All the values are correct for icontact and if I submit the form as usual, icontact responds that it added the email address. The success message loads in a new page from icontact's website. What I'd like to accomplish is that ajax would send the form and returns a success message within the current page, without sending the customer to a new page. If I click another .menu-item a when #menu-2 is open what happens? The script close and open another submenu correctly but my #menu-2 close only close. And then if I close .menu-item a so... #menu-2 open. How can I do to fix?

  • How can I call `update_attribute` for a list item in rails then actually update the html using jquery?

    I want my users to be able to mark one or more items from an index view as "Active" or "Inactive" using a link. The text for the link should be state aware - so it might default to "Mark as Active" if the corresponding attribute was false or null, and "Mark as Inactive" if true. Once the user clicks the link and the attribute is updated in the controller, the link-text should update based on the new state. I am WAY off here, but this is a small sample of the code I have been trying...   • Dynamically writing out li with jquery. Element is not clickable after being written

    I have have a a function that when a checkbox is checked i dynamically write out an li into a ol that is empty. Code: $(":checkbox").click(function() { var checkedState = $(this).is(':checked'); if (checkedState == true) { var productName = $(this).attr("title"); $("#selectedProductsList").append("<li class=\"productList " + this + "\"><p class=\"removeIcon\"><img src=\"images/remove-icon.png\" alt=\"Remove Product\" /></p><span class=\"productName\">"+ productName +"</span></li>"); }; }); Then when that writes out there is a remove icon that will remove the item from the ol when clicked. This remove icon has a class of removeIcon which can be seen in the dynamic li above. I have a function that processes the remove call and then does some actions: Code: $('.removeIcon').click(function() { alert("starting"); }); Right now i have the remove action just trying to alert a message that it got called. But it seems that it is not getting into the function. Is there a certain way that i need to access these dynamic li's other then the .click method? I saw this post: Dynamically Inserted DOM Elements are not Clickable using $.click() Where they added .live vs .click but this doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

  • jquery element not defined, but it used to skip it...

    I recently transferred a site to a new host. Reloaded everything, and the javascript that worked fine before is breaking at an element it can't find. $('#emailForm') is not defined. Now, the #emailform isn't on the page, but it wasn't before either, and JS used to skip this and it would just work. Not sure why this is happening. Any clues?

    Simple as that: I have some inputs that are rendered inside another form element, but I want to submit then individually. I tried "serializing" the div that contains them, but it didn't work. Is there an easy way to do this? While it blocks the browser during the active request, what is the most efficient way to change the cursor to the hourglass or display a wait .gif? Perhaps set the cursor as it enters this function then change it back in the success or complete function? Any advice is appreciated. Thank You.

    StackOverflow is telling me this is a subjective question, but I think it's a matter of fact! I have a number of scripts that I'm using on different parts of my site. In terms of making fewer http requests, I know it's better to combine all of these scripts into one .js file. However, isn't a waste of time for a page to call a .js full of 10 or 15 different functions when it's only using one? The other method I am using is to use PHP conditional statements... <?php if( is_page() ) { > $(document).ready(function(){ ... }); <?php } ?> What's the best method or comination of these methods?

    Given a string of text that is both adjacent to a span and inside of a div, what are some methods to modify just that text, leaving the surrounding HTML intact? For example: <div id="my-div">modify this text<span id="my-span"></span></div> I have tried things like $('#my-div').html(function(i, elem){blah;}); but this seems to cause the span to be deleted and a new span to be added, because some styling is lost. I realize that it would be best to wrap the text string in its own HTML tags before applying client-side code, but that is out of my control.

  • Can you stop a defered callback in jquery 1.5?

I have a general function that I want to use on all my responses that would be passed into my success. This function basically does a check to see if the server validation found any errors. If it did they it formats it and displays a message. Now I am wondering if I could some how have the second success function to then do specific stuff. Like say One ajax request needs to add a row into a table. So this should be possible. I just do what I have above and in the second success I just add the row. Is it possible though that if the first success runs through and see that there are validation errors from the server that I can stop the second success from happening? Sort of If(first success finds errors) { // print out errors // don't continue onto next success } else { // go to next success } Edit I found that there is something call deferred.reject and this does stop it but I am wondering how can I specify to stop only the success one. Since my thinking is if there are other deffered ones like complete on it will the be rejected too?

Normally, I would use something like this: $(".overlay_popup").bind("click", function(){... but this didn't work for the overlay. Any ideas on how I can successfully do this?

  • jQuery: Adding li element only if it not already there?

    I am constructing an <li> element like this: var element = $("<li></li>") .html(mHTML) .attr('id', "elemid"); I am trying to add this element to a <ul> element only if it doesn't already exist. Any ideas on how to do this? Am I supposed to use contains() to see if the ul element contain the html and then decide? For instance, <ul id="elemul"> <li id="elemli1">Element 1</li> <li id="elemli2">Element 2</li> <li id="elemli3">Element 3</li> </ul> If I try adding Element 1, it should not add it. What should I do if its a longer string (not really long but about 150 characters). Do I go about using hashmaps?
