  • How to distribute the chance to display each SWF evenly among banner collection?

    - by Michael Mao
Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? Many thanks in advance.

  • jQuery find not working

    - by fire
    This is my HTML: <p class="first">blah blah <a href="" class="more">read more</a></p> <div class="read_more"> <p>more text</p> </div> And javascript: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a.more').click(function(){ $(this).find('.read_more').slideDown(); return false; }); }); Doesn't seem to do anything (read_more is set to display: none) any ideas?

  • Methods for breaking up content client-side into multiple "pages"

    - by Tom Genoni
I have a long HTML text-only article formatted with paragraph tags. What I'd like to do is break this content into N number of divs so that I can create individual pages. So, for instance, on an iPad/iPhone, instead of reading one long page the user could swipe right/left to navigate to pages. My initial javascript attempts have been somewhat convoluted: creating an array of the text, measuring line-heights, device window heights, adding closing/opening paragraph tags and the end/beginning of pages. Thoughts on a good way to approach this? I will not have access to server-side processing, this has to be a client-side solution.

  • How to change a label's text after loading a html into a dialog

    - by Salsa
    I am opening a modal dialog by loading a form into it. After loading the form, I want to change it's title and one of it's fields' label. I can change the label's text, but after the function returns, the label's text turns back to it's original one. Is it possible to make this kind of change and if so, how? The HTML: <form action="testing.php" method="POST" id="example-form"> <fieldset> <label for="link" id="link-label"></label> </fieldset> </form> The javascript: $(".bt-example").button().click(function() { $('#example-dialog').load('form.html').dialog('open'); $('.ui-dialog-titlebar').text("THIS WORKS!"); $('#example-form #link-label').text("CHANGES AT FIRST, BUT GOES BLANK LATER"); $('#example-dialog').removeClass('invisible'); });

  • Can I improve my validation?

    - by Qmal
So I want to validate my form using jQuery, this is how I imagine it and it works, but is the best method of doing it and maybe I can do it more effective with less code? <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#frmCatAdd").submit(function() { var name = $("#edtName").val(); if (name == "") $("#edtName").css("border", "1px solid red") else $("#frmCatAdd").submit(); return false; }); }); </script>

  • How do I gather a class' css attributes given nothing but the className?

    - by user1128571
For example I might have some css stuff that looks like this: .divType1 { position: absolute; width: 60px; height: 60px; left: 400px; top: 100px; border: 1px solid #89B; z-index: 0; } Now within Javascript I want to gather div class divType1' css attributes, but am provided only with the div class, so I can't do something of form ( pseudo-code ): selectDivWithClass( divType1 ).getCss(left). I could hack something by instantiating a div with class divType1 and grab its css attributes, and then destroy it, but is there a better way?

  • Jquery plugin for getting changes in textarea and sending them to server

    - by user763410
I am getting a file "abc.txt" from server and dispaying it in a text area for editing. <div id="filecontents"> <textarea> CONTENTS OF FILE LARGER THAN 10KB </textarea> </div> The contents of the file are potentially large. The user will edit the textarea and add/delete text from any part(not just the end). I want to send ONLY the changes to the server for patching. How do I accomplish this?. Is there a javascript version of the popular linux command(diff). John Resig's diff code may not work as, for me, it will involve additional parsing on server side. Thanks!

  • Looking for a Toolbox (Crop/Position/Rotate) for a Website

    - by VIRTUALWEB
I'm looking for a Toolbox for a Website that can do the following things: Write Text in a Text Editor (change its color/font size/font) and display it over an product image (plus drag&drop, do rotation). As Texteditor i could use TinyMCE but how to rotate/drag&drop? the same with images (upload a logo, display it over an existing product image) where the user could drag&drop it around or rotate it left/right in 90 degrees, and change its size. are there any tools outside that can handle that requirements? They could be AJAX, Flash, jQuery, JavaScript, ... tia

  • Hide or display a button according to row count of a table

    - by kawtousse
Hi, i have a HTML table and a button send. First of all the send button must have this style: style.display="none". But if the table has at least one row the button should be displayed (block/inline); I still have no idea how to relate between the table and the button. I try to use JavaScript but i should think about a function and I don't found any of it to apply at type table. Thinking about CSS still also hard since I cannot find a relation between the table and the button.

  • Hover multiple elements affecting only 1 item

    - by lilsizzo
hi guys i was wondering if there is a way to hover a few elements with the same class name which is placed side by side and actions would be trigger upon leaving the area of the elements. For example : <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> the javascript of "unhover" below should only be called when they leave the whole area of "hoverme" class. $('.hoverme').live('mouseover mouseout', function(event) { if (event.type == 'mouseover') { if(!$("#stage1 td").hasClass("hover")) { $("#stage1 td").addClass("hover",200) } } else { //$("#stage1 td").removeClass("hover",200) } }); Is there a way for this action??

  • Catching uncaught exceptions

    - by kajyr
Hi everybody. In my workplace we are mantaining a lot of ecommerce websites, some coded better than others. On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed). To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have. Is there a way to catch those exceptions? Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.

  • DOMNodeInserted or hashchange

    - by jakey
I am trying to write a JavaScript script that is "overlayed" on top of a Facebook page. It uses DOMContentLoaded to detect when content is loaded, then adds some extra stuff in. However, because Facebook doesn't actually "reload" the page when going to a new page (it just uses AJAX), the DOMContentLoaded handler doesn't run again, even though there is new stuff to look through. Anyway, to detect the change, I thought about using onhashchange since Facebook used to change the page's hash, but in Firefox 4 (I need to support Firefox 3 and later with this, but no other browsers), Facebook doesn't change the hash anymore and in pre-Firefox 3.6 there is no onhashchange. I thought about using DOMNodeInserted, but would that really slow down the page? (I really can't have any slowdowns in this script.)

  • call .js file after ajax load

    - by asovgir
I am trying to apply a .js file to a page I loaded via ajax (since ajax automatically strips the content of all the javascript). var url; var textUrl = 'local/file.js'; $('a').click(function() { url = $(this).attr('href'); $('.secondaryDiv').load(url, function() { $.getScript(textUrl, function(data, textStatus, jqxhr) { console.log(data); //data returned from getScript console.log(textStatus); //return "success" console.log(jqxhr.status); //200 }); }); return false; }); Am I approaching this the right way? I tried everything I could think of and I can't get it to work

  • Is it possible to align an element with the bottom of the window, yet make it scrollable, with CSS o

    - by last-child
I have a design going on where I want to align the bottom of an intro paragraph with the bottom of the window, yet make it scroll with the rest of the page. So when the page opens, the visitor sees only the first paragraph (and a full screen background image, which is what I want to focus their attention on), but as they scroll they see the paragraph and the rest of the text. The height of the intro element can vary. Right now I think I have to introduce some javascript to do this - meassure the height of the window, the height of the paragraph, and adjust top: or margin-top of the paragraph to the difference between the two values. If there is a way to make a div have a height that corresponds exactly to the window height, and position the paragraph absolutely inside of this div, the let the rest of the text sit outside of the div, it could work... but I can't seem to make that happen with css. Any suggestions?

  • Display random image when page loads without utilizing onload in the body tag

    - by Peachy
I'm trying to create a fairly simple piece of JavaScript that displays a random image from an array each time the page loads. I need to figure out a way to get this running without adding code to the body tag. Is there a way to accomplish this without, say, an onload funtion placed in the body tag? Here's what I have that relies on the onLoad: ImageSwitch=new Array(); ImageSwitch[0]='1.jpg'; ImageSwitch[1]='2.jpg'; ImageSwitch[2]='3.jpg'; ImageSwitch[3]='4.jpg'; function swapImage() { document.getElementById("theImage").setAttribute("src", ImageSwitch[ Math.round(Math.random()*3)]) } Any alternative ideas to accomplish this? Thanks.

  • quickflip + slideshow animation

    - by user288231
    I have been trying to integrate quickflip and a slideshow animation. So everytime when the user hovers over the image, it would pause the animation and "flip to the other side". When the user hovers out, it would then replace its normal state. The problem is here is I do not know how to handle the quickflip code (http://jonraasch.com/blog/quickflip-2-jquery-plugin). I have looked at the sample code and tried to replace it, but at the end the animations would get messed up... Javascript: var interval = setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 3000 ); $('.quickFlip').quickFlip(); $('#slideshow').hover(function () { clearInterval(interval); }, function () { interval = setInterval("slideSwitch()", 3000); });

  • Preventing user from inserting *

    - by user990635
I'm trying to prevent user from inserting * in a textbox. This is what I was trying to do, but here it only detects * if this is the only inserted character. For example texts like: *, etc. When allowed characters are mixed with *, then it cannot detect it. For example inputs such as: *hjh, etc.. and maybe how to make it replace only * with "" and not the whole field? <script type="text/javascript"> function testField(field) { var regExpr = new RegExp("[^*]"); if(!regExpr.test(field.value)) { field.value = ""; } } </script> <input type="text" id="searchGamesKeyword" class="searchGamesTextBox" name="searchGamesKeyword" onblur="testField(this);" />

If a user checks a form checkbox I want to create a new div. Dynamic data is loaded from ajax and php. I am asking how to create it with JS or jQuery. A simplified version will look something like <div id="ajaxSRC1" class="CLASS"> <a href="javascript:void(0)" onmouseover="return myFunction('ajaxSRC5', 'ajaxSRC6')"> <img src="ajaxSRC2" width="ajaxSRC3" height="ajaxSRC4" alt="..." /> </a> </div>

  • How can I disallow all HTML using markdown (PHP and JS)?

    - by peterjwest
I'm using the PHP markdown library: http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/ and the Javascript markdown library: http://attacklab.net/showdown/ I want to disallow all HTML, both the versions of markdown seem to allow it indiscriminately. My first attempt was simply to escape all html entities before feeding into markdown. However this also escapes the <hyperlink> and <email> syntax, which is very useful. I'd like to escape all HTML (not remove) but preserve all markdown syntax.

  • how to detect an F5 refresh keypress event in jquery?

    - by chaonextdoor
I noticed that jquery has a keypress function. But it seems that it can only detect keypress event of numbers and characters. It cannot detect the F5 keypress event. And What surprises me the most is everyone online says that the keyCode of F5 is 116, But when I use the jquery keypress function, it just shows that the character t has the keyCode of 116(it seems that 116 is the ascii code of lowercase t)! Can somebody give me any idea about this and how to detect the F5 event in javascript or jquery? Thanks so much in advance.

  • (Rails) How do I reference resources from non-restful views...?

    - by humble_coder
Hi All, How do you ensure that your javascript includes get included properly for all files everywhere using a particular layout? Basically I have some non-restful actions that I've added. I haven't added any ROUTES for them, however, using normal text rendering works fine. It's when I start requiring different "swf" and "js" files (files which are properly placed in PUBLIC) that things get hairy. I start receiving "406 Not Acceptable" errors telling me that it's looking for the files in a subdirectory of the current controller. As it stands I'm in including the JS in "application" layout file. It works for the INDEX action, but doesn't seem to work for any of the non-restful actions. Thoughts?
