  I have a section of a schema for a model that I need to parse. Lets say it looks like the following. { type = "Standard"; hostname="x.y.z"; port="123"; } The properties are: The elements may appear unordered. All elements that are part of the schema must appear, and no other. All of the elements' synthesised attributes go into a struct. (optional) The schema might in the future depend on the type field -- i.e., different fields based on type -- however I am not concerned about this at the moment.

  Hi, I worked on code .It is working successfully. But Problem i am facing is: New Columns are not visible in List ( I tried with With Setting Required = "TRUE" ). I tried with compairing Field Value of Both Visible and No-Visible Columns. Difference i found is : Visible Columns (Created Manually) doesn't contain Version value. wereas columns i am creating have it. So i tried with passing null value to "ndVersion.Value". But it is still not working and automaticaly putting some value to version. Can you help me out in this? I tried Solution given Here . But it din't Worked again. :(

• Inserting Newline from XML to Database

  I am trying to parse this xml document in which a newline is required for certain fields and must be inserted into the database with the newline. But I've been running into problems. 1)First Problem: \n Character The first problem I had was using the \n like below. <javascript>jquery_ui.js\nshadowbox_modal.js\nuser_profile.js\ntablesorter.js</javascript> The problem was in the database the field came out ot be jquery_ui.js\nshadowbox_modal.js\n... and when output into html it was jquery_ui.jsnshadowbox_modal.jsn............... 2) Then I tried actually having newlines in the xml <javascript>jquery_ui.js shadowbox_modal.js user_profile.js tablesorter.js</javascript> The problem was the output become %20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20shadowbox_modal.js, and so forth. So how can I get a newline to hold from xml when entered into a database and then output with the newline still?

  I have been trying to make this shape in CSS. Ideally it will span the entire length of the browser window and probably extend outside the field of view to support larger screens and also be centered so that the angle does not change. Anyone have any solutions? Also I think I might run into a problem of the angle aliasing harshly. I might need to resort to using an image. Would like to use CSS though. ** Image Spelling Error. • Best way to handle SQL Server fulltext index updates

  Hi all, I have a fulltext index which doesn't need to be immediately up-to-date, I'd like to spare myself the I/O (when I do bulk updates, I see a ton of I/O related to the index) and do the index updates during low usage times (nightly, perhaps even weekly). It seems there are two ways to go about this: Turn off change tracking (SET CHANGE_TRACKING OFF) and add a timestamp field to the indexed table, so that you can run alter fulltext index on <table> start INCREMENTAL population, or Enable change tracking, but set it to MANUAL, so that you can run alter fulltext index on <table> start UPDATE population when you need it updated. Is there a preferred method? I couldn't tell from this overview if there was a performance benefit one way or the other. Tom

  I have an class defining an immutable value type that I now need to serialize. The immutability comes from the final fields which are set in the constructor. I've tried serializing, and it works (surprisingly?) - but I've no idea how. Here's an example of the class public class MyValueType implements Serializable { private final int value; private transient int derivedValue; public MyValueType(int value) { this.value = value; this.derivedValue = derivedValue(value); } // getters etc... } Given that the class doesn't have a no arg constructor, how can it be instantiated and the final field set? (An aside - I noticed this class particularly because IDEA wasn't generating a "no serialVersionUID" inspection warning for this class, yet successfully generated warnings for other classes that I've just made serializable.)

• Added tagging to existing model, now how does its admin work?

  I wanted to add a StackOverflow-style tag input to a blog model of mine. This is a model that has a lot of data already in it. class BlogPost(models.Model): # my blog fields try: tagging.register(BlogPost) except tagging.AlreadyRegistered: pass I thought that was all I needed so I went through my old database of blog posts (this is a newly ported blog) and copied the tags in. It worked and I could display tags and filter by tag. However, I just wrote a new BlogPost and realise there's no tag field there. Reading the documentation (coincidentally, dry enough to be used as an antiperspirant), I found the TagField. Thinking this would just be a manager-style layer over the existing tagging register, I added it. It complained about there not being a Tag column. I'd rather not denormalise on tags just to satisfy create an interface for inputting them. Is there a TagManager class that I can just set on the model? tags = TagManager() # or somesuch

• Compiling PHP with GD crashes with EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) on PPC Mac

  First of all, I should say that I have searched the whole Internet for this problem but I couldn't find any solution yet. I have a Mac mini PowerPC (PPC) and I run Apache webserver (httpd-2.2.22) with PHP (5.4.0) and I do all the configure & compilation jobs by myself. If configure with: './configure' '--prefix=/usr/local/php5' '--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--infodir=/usr/share/info' '--sysconfdir=/etc' '--with-config-file-path=/etc' '--with-zlib' '--with-zlib-dir=/usr' '--with-openssl=/usr' '--without-iconv' '--enable-exif' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-mbstring' '--enable-mbregex' '--enable-sockets' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--with-pdo-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config' '--with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs' '--with-mcrypt' then the PHP works flawlessly. But if I add the GD module by adding these to the script above: '--with-gd' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local/lib' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr/X11R6' '--with-png-dir=/usr/X11R6' '--with-xpm-dir=/usr/X11R6' the PHP gets configured and compiled without any errors but it causes EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) (see the Crash Reporter log below) when I request a page which calls PHP module. It's obvious that something related to the GD module is causing this, probably FreeType module because it's present in the log but it may not be definite of course. When the PHP crashes (or more accurately, httpd) the CPU goes 100% for 10 to 15 seconds until it recovers. I need to use the GD module and keep the Mac mini PowerPC. • Javascript how many characters replaced in a regex?

  I am sanitizing an input field and manually getting and setting the caret position in the process. With some abstraction, here's the basic idea: <input type="text" onkeyup"check(this)"> And javascript... function check(element) { var charPosition = getCaretPosition(element); $(element).val( sanitize( $(element).val() ) ); setCaretPosition(element, charPosition); } function sanitize(s) { return s.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9\s]/g, ''); } This is working fine except when a character does actually get sanitized, my caret position is off by one. Basically I'd like a way to see if the sanitize function has actually replaced a character (and at what index) so then I can adjust the charPosition if necessary. Any ideas?

• Changing styling of DataGridViewComboBoxCell from DropDownList to DropDown?

Say I have a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, and want to switch the style of the ComboBox control between DropDownList and DropDown (mainly for the text field editing capability). I'd like to do this on a row-by-row basis (at the DataGridViewComboBoxCell level). How would I do that programatically? Or maybe a different way of asking: How do I access the ComboBox control given an object of type DataGridViewComboBoxCell? (I'm in VB 2005.) Thanks as always.

• Providing localized error messages for non-attributed model validation in ASP.Net MVC 2?

The problem I have is that there are behind-the-scenes model validations being performed that are not tied to any specific attribute. An example of this in the above model is that the Age property needs to be an int. If you try to enter a non-integer value on the form, it will error with the following (non-localized) message: The field Age must be a number. How can these non-attribute validation messages be localized? Is there a full list of these messages available so I can make sure they are all localized?

• PHP check if file exists on my server, based on a full URL

  I have an app that generates invoices in the form of PDF files stored in a directory on my server. Before mailing out this invoices I'd like to make sure that the URL (not server path) which I store in my DB does indeed point to a valid PDF file. Something could have gone wrong that wrote a value to that field in the db, but for example the filename is missing; meaning the file is not in the specified directory. AFAIK file_exists just checks server paths but not URL's. I could always store the server path too, or assemble it, but I'm wondering if i can do this check based on a full http url ending with a filename? EDIT: yeah CURL occurred to me too but doesn't that seem a bit heavy for such a simple task? Perhaps I should just store the server path too.

• Why do C# automatic properties not support default values like VB 2010?

  Looking at the new VB 2010 features, I stumbled upon support for Auto-Implemented Properties. Since I'm working with C#, this seemed quite familiar, but I noticed that VB did add a feature I would love to have in C#: setting a arbitrary default value for the auto-implemented property: I really like the clean usage of auto-properties in C#. This would save us the effort of introducing a backing field and hooking it up to the property everytime we simply need a default value, thereby cluttering up the code unnecessarily. I was wondering why this wasn't introduced in C# as well? What could be the rationale for not doing this? Is a syntax discussion going on, or are there technical limitations to implementing this?

• Phantom updates due to decimal precision on calculated properties

  This article describes my problem. I have several properties that are calculated. These are typed as decimal(9,2) in SQL Server and decimal in my C# classes. An example of the problem is: Object is loaded with a property value of 14.9 A calculation is performed and the property value is changed to 14.90393 When the session is flushed, NHibernate issues an update because the property is dirty Since the database field is decimal (9,2) the stored value doesn't change Basically a phantom update is issued every time this object is loaded. I don't want to truncate the calculations in my business objects because that tightly couples them to the database and I don't want to lose the precision in other calculations. I tried setting scale and precision or CustomType("Decimal(9,2)") in the mapping file but this appears to only affect schema generation. My only reasonable option appears to be creating an IUserType implementation to handle this. Is there a better solution?

  I'm developing an InfoPath form for Forms Services. It has these views: View 1 asks the user to input some basic initial data View 2 calls a web service based on data in View 1 and populates drop-downs accordingly At the bottom of View 1 I've added a Next > button to move to View 2. As part of clicking that button I would like the inputs in View 1 to be validated first. However, there don't appear to be any rules that validate a view or anything in the object model to execute validation rules. Is there code that can trigger a field's validation event?

In searchdata, I can do this $search_word=$_GET['search_word']; and use that var, but so far every time i attempt to alter the dataString, it breaks all the other functionality. Thanks!

• Does SQL Server Compact Edition (SqlCe) have a SNAPSHOT table like Oracle Lite?

  In Oracle Lite, you can create a SNAPSHOT table which is like a normal table except that it tracks changes to itself. The syntax is CREATE SNAPSHOT TABLE tblWhatever ... and you can perform CRUD operations on it like a normal table. To get the change information, you query the table like this: SELECT * FROM tblWhatever + WHERE ... which returns all the rows in the table (including deleted ones) meeting the WHERE clause, and you can access each row's row_state column as a normal field (which is invisible to a normal SELECT * FROM tblWhatever WHERE ... query). Is there some way to do the same thing with Sql Compact Edition (3.5) - i.e. create a table that tracks changes without using RDA?

• How to check if a variable is defined in a Master file in ASP.NET MVC

  I've got a Site.Master file I've created to be my template for the majority of the site, with a navigation. This navigation is dynamically created, based on a recursive Entity (called Page) - Pages with a parentID of 0 are top level, and naturally each child carries it's parent's Id in that field. I've created a quick little HTML Helper that accepts the ID of an Page and generates the nav by doing a foreach on the children that have a parentId matching the passed Id. On the majority of the site, I want the Site.Master to use a parentId of 0, but if I'm on a strongly typed View displaying a Page, I naturally want to use the Id of the page. Is there a way to do such conditional logic in a Site.Master (and, does that violate MVC rules)? "If I'm on a strongly typed Page of /Page/{Id}, use the Id render nav, else use 0"

• Avoiding exceptions when uploading files in laravel

  I've got a file upload field (attachment1) in a form that may or may not have a file uploaded in it when I process the form in laravel. When I'm trying to process the page, this line generates an exception: Input::upload('attachment1',path('storage').'attachments/'.$name); Here is the text of the exception: Message: Call to a member function move() on a non-object it seems that I need to check in advance to see if 'attachment1' has a file, and I found that the function Input::has_file('attachment1') is supposed to tell me whether or not 'attachment1' has a file, but even when I submit an empty form, it returns true. Also, from reading documentation, it seems that Input::upload is supposed to just return false when trying to upload a non-existant file, so why does it produce this exception instead, and how can I fix it?

  Hi guys, I'm having trouble with one particular issue, I was hoping someone could help me out. I've completed the MVC Music Store tutorial, and now I'm trying to add some administrator functionality - practice as I will have to do this in an MVC application in my job. The application is using the aspnet membership api, and what I have done so far is created a view to list the users. What I want to be able to do, is click on the users name in order to change their password. To try and carry the username to the changeUserPassword controller (custom made). I registered a new route in the global.asax.cs file in order to display the username in the URL, which is working so far. UserList View <%: Html.RouteLink(user.UserName, "AdminPassword", new { controller="StoreManager", action="changeUserPassword", username = user.UserName }) %> Global.asax.cs routes.MapRoute( "AdminPassword", //Route name "{controller}/{action}/{username}", //URL with parameters new { controller = "StoreManager", action = "changeUserPassword", username = UrlParameter.Optional} ); So now the URL looks like this when I reach the changeUserPassword view: http://localhost:51236/StoreManager/changeUserPassword/Administrator Here is the GET changeUserPassword action: public ActionResult changeUserPassword(string username) { ViewData["username"] = username; return View(); } I wanted to store the username in ViewData as I would like to use it in the GET changeUserPassword for display purposes, and also as a hidden value in the form. This is in order to pass it through to enable me to reset the password. Having debugged through the code, it seems that 'username' is null. How can I get this to work so that the username carries over from the Html.RouteLink, to the changeUserPassword action? • Does MS Test provide a default value equals comparison?

  I want to test for example int orderId = myRepository.SubmitOrder(orderA); orderB = myRepository.GetOrder(orderId); Assert.AreEqual(orderA, orderB); // fail Obviously I need a value comparison here, but I don't want to have to provide an overridden Equals implementation for all of my classes purely for the sake of testing (it wouldn't be of any use in the rest of the app). Is there a provided generic method that just checks every field using reflection? Or if not, it is possible to write my own?
