• Getting PHP to work with apache to run .php files through browser [closed]

  I have VPS running Debian 5.0 (I think) and I would like to get it to run PHP files. I was told it needed to be configured with Apache. I tried entering the command apt-get install apache2 php5 libapache2-mod-php5. But there was no change. Console output: http://pastebin.com/sVMWq6mA This is everything in my /etc/apache2/mods-enabled: http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6474/modsb.jpg My webserver can be accessed here: http://206.217.223.136/test/ In my test.php file I have the code : <?php phpinfo(); ?> but instead of displaying the page, it tries to download it. How can I fix this?

  On Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot), my cron job run fine if I use the default * * * * * But if I want it to run at 17 hrs or any other time, it never runs. • How to pass GET parameters to rewritten URL?

  I have an .htaccess rewrite rule like this: RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENME} !-d RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^search/(.*)$ search.php?q=$1 What this does is, if someone visits http://www.mysite.com/search/test the URI that is really processed is http://www.mysite.com/search.php?q=test. Now, if I try to pass an extra random GET parameter to my rewritten URL, the parameter is ignored. So if I try to do visit here: http://www.mysite.com/search/whatever?extra=true The parameter extra is ignored. It doesn't seem to get passed at all. Can this problem be fixed? If so, how?

  I am a bit curious about my new domain. I had a domain before, let's say http://example.com/. Before expiration of that domain, I bought a new one with the name http://another-domain.com/. I uploaded all of my content on the second domain, but now when I search in Google about some query related to my http://another-domain.com/ site then I also find my old domain in the results. Will this give a duplicate content error for my new domain or any other kind of penalty from Google?

Why does this stuff matter? Well, in general, virtualization (or cloud) solutions provide an easy way to create Virtual Machines. Whether it's through a "cloud api" or just a virtualization API. But all you end up with, in the end, is still just a Virtual Machine... Maybe with an OS pre-installed/pre-configured. So you have flexibility of moving VMs around and providing a VM but what about the actual applications (anything more than a very basic app)? The application administrator then still has to go and install and configure the OS for that application and install the application and its patches and basic configuration so that the application user then can go in. Building gold images for complex software stacks that are not owned by the users/admins is always very difficult. With our templates, we provide a number of things : Oracle Linux pre-installed and pre-configured with the minimum required packages for that application to run. Since I live in Iran there are no counselor or any professionals out there to help me, so I decided to ask here. I started with Visual Basic and after 1 year I started to learn HTML , CSS , Javascript and JQuery. And for the past 6 months I've been learning PHP,and I have a basic understanding of OOP. I want to move to America to continue my studies and I was wondering which programming language helps me the most to get there? Should I learn C++ or JAVA or should I study Computer Science and Math? also since We are not in a good place financially, I want a programming language that helps me in college and lets me make some money? • Installing drivers using DPInst

  You can use DPInst (Driver Package Installer) to install driver files for your device on Windows Operating Systems. DPInst.exe is part of DIFx (Driver Install Framework tools) which comes along with the Windows Driver Kit (WDK). You can find DPInst redistributable inside the redist\DIFx\DPInst folder of the WDK.   I am looking into learning Python for web development. Assuming I already have some basic web development experience with Java (JSP/Servlets), I'm already familiar with web design (HTML, CSS, JS), basic programming concepts and that I am completely new to Python, how do I go about learning Python in a structured manner that will eventually lead me to web development with Python and Django? I'm not in a hurry to make web applications in Python so I really want to learn it thoroughly so as not to leave any gaps in my knowledge of the technologies involving web development in Python. Are there any books, resource or techniques to help me in my endeavor? In what order should I do/read them? UPDATE: When I say learning in a structured manner, I mean starting out from the basics then learning the advanced stuff without leaving some of the important details/features that Python has to offer. I want to know how to apply the things that I already know in programming to Python.

• Google Webmasters tools crawl error

  I am looking in to Google Webmaster Tools - Crawl Error section. How should I handle for those URL due their system / application showed invalid URL. e.g http://www.example/images/products/s_=enlarge_16gb.jpg but, I dunno what happen to yahoo groups, it break the link into http://www.example/images/products/s_= enlarge_16gb.jpg and I only make the top part become hyperlink, which is http://www.example/images/products/s_= Because of the URL, Google show crawl error, I got few error because of this kind of result or because other people typo error. How do I prevent this. I am sure I don't have the right go and change other people post. What is the solution for this. Thanks!

  Looks like I was one of the lucky 114,000 who AT&T lost their email to “hackers”.  Why is “hackers” in “double quotes”.  I can just imagine some executive at AT&T in their “Oh No, We Messed Up Meeting” saying, what happened?  Then someone replied, well we have had a breach and “hackers” broke in (using the quote in the air gesture) and stole our iPad 3G customers emails. Oh well, I am sure my email has been sold and sold again by many different vendors, why not AT&T now.  At least Dorothy Attwood could have gave us her email to give to someone else instead of blinking it through a newsletter system. June 13, 2010 Dear Valued AT&T Customer, Recently there was an issue that affected some of our customers with AT&T 3G service for iPad resulting in the release of their customer email addresses. I am writing to let you know that no other information was exposed and the matter has been resolved.  We apologize for the incident and any inconvenience it may have caused. Rest assured, you can continue to use your AT&T 3G service on your iPad with confidence. Here’s some additional detail: On June 7 we learned that unauthorized computer “hackers” maliciously exploited a function designed to make your iPad log-in process faster by pre-populating an AT&T authentication page with the email address you used to register your iPad for 3G service.  The self-described hackers wrote software code to randomly generate numbers that mimicked serial numbers of the AT&T SIM card for iPad – called the integrated circuit card identification (ICC-ID) – and repeatedly queried an AT&T web address.   When a number generated by the hackers matched an actual ICC-ID, the authentication page log-in screen was returned to the hackers with the email address associated with the ICC-ID already populated on the log-in screen. The hackers deliberately went to great efforts with a random program to extract possible ICC-IDs and capture customer email addresses.  They then put together a list of these emails and distributed it for their own publicity. As soon as we became aware of this situation, we took swift action to prevent any further unauthorized exposure of customer email addresses.  Within hours, AT&T disabled the mechanism that automatically populated the email address. Now, the authentication page log-in screen requires the user to enter both their email address and their password. I want to assure you that the email address and ICC-ID were the only information that was accessible. Your password, account information, the contents of your email, and any other personal information were never at risk.  The hackers never had access to AT&T communications or data networks, or your iPad.  AT&T 3G service for other mobile devices was not affected. While the attack was limited to email address and ICC-ID data, we encourage you to be alert to scams that could attempt to use this information to obtain other data or send you unwanted email. You can learn more about phishing by visiting the AT&T website. AT&T takes your privacy seriously and does not tolerate unauthorized access to its customers’ information or company websites.   We will cooperate with law enforcement in any investigation of unauthorized system access and to prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law.   First of all, I don't know which version of SQL this post (http://www.techonthenet.com/sql/tables/alter_table.php) is based on, but at least for Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the syntax is not: ALTER TABLE [table_name] MODIFY [column_name] [data_type] NOT NULL; Instead, it should be: ALTER TABLE [table_name] ALTER COLUMN [column_name] [data_type] NOT NULL;   Then, as several posts point out, you can't use T-SQL to run an existing column into an IDENTITY column.  Instead, use the IDENTITY_INSERT to copy data from other tables.  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188059.aspx SET IDENTITY_INSERT [table_name] ON INSERT .... • How do you Install the Latest Release of Miro?

  In the software centre the latest release of Miro available is 4.0.4 whereas the latest release of Miro is 5.0.4. How do I download 5.0.4 on 12.10? I have tried following the guide at http://www.getmiro.com/download/for-ubuntu/ (and thus have already run sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pcf/miro-releases) but it failed and when I tried to run sudo apt-get update I received the error: W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/pcf/miro-releases/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/pcf/miro-releases/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found E: Some index files failed to download.
