    Dear MySQL users, MySQL Connector/Net 6.8.0, a new version of the all-managed .NET driver for MySQL has been released. This is an alpha release for 6.8.x and it's not recommended for production environments.It is appropriate for use with MySQL server versions 5.0-5.6 It is now available in source and binary form from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/#downloads and mirror sites (note that not all mirror sites may be up to date at this point-if you can't find this version on some mirror, please try again later or choose another download site.)     I have a little problem with sysctl on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS system. When I set the sysctl values with "sysctl -w " all work fine, but when I try to use the sysctl.conf file. the net settings will be ignored. For example my sysctl.conf # /etc/sysctl.conf - Configuration file for setting system variables kernel.domainname=findme.sysctl # Corefiles information fs.suid_dumpable=2 kernel.core_pattern=/cores/core-%e-%s-%u-%g-%p-%t ##############################################################3 # Functions previously found in netbase net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_fin_wait=1 net.ipv4.netfilter.ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_close_wait=1 when I grep to the values, I can see that the sysctl settings for net.ipv4.netfilter don't set.   • Why not AJAX'ify entire websites?

    Is there any solid reasoning as to why sites shouldn't be developed with ajax functionality that loads major parts of each part (assuming there are elements like the header, navigation etc that remain the same)? Surely it would be less resource-intensive since the server wouldn't have to serve content that appears on every page, benefiting both the host and end-user. Answer the question taking into consideration: The sites javascript behaviour degrades gracefully in every instance For my question I'm talking about new sites where this behaviour could be implemented rather from the off, so it doesn't technically cost any money - we're not returning to a finished product to implement it.

    What is easiest no fail way to publish asp.net app? Sorry a bit of an open ended question but I am having issues deploying an asp.net report project and any solution to get the site up is fine. I am running Win7/SQL 2008 and want to publish a asp.net report site that I created in VS 2008. Website launches when I run in debug in Visual studio but I want to publish the site so that it can be seen on the LAN. I published the files off to a folder and started up the IIS manager and added a new site and pointed to that folder. Set the permission on the folder to share to everyone. However when I go to the DNS name I put in for the website it does not launch. Any ideas on this? I see websites out there talking about a web sharing tab on the folder properties but I do not see that when I go to folders. Why might that be? Another avenue I have not pursued yet is publishing directly to a website. Has anyone tried that? Is that better or worse than publishing to filesystem?

  • Setting jQuery after ASP.net AJAX partial post back

    OK, so for some reason you have a mega mashup solution with ASP.net AJAX, jQuery and web forms.  Perhaps you are just on the migration from AjaxControlToolkit to the jQuery UI framework – who knows!! Anyway, the problem is that when you post back with something like an UpdatePanel, you will find that your nicely setup jQuery stuff, like the datepicker for example will no longer work. You may have something like this… $(document).ready(function () {     $(".date-edit").datepicker({ dateFormat: "dd/mm/yy", firstDay: 1, showOtherMonths: true, selectOtherMonths: true }); });   When you’re ASP.net UpdatePanel post back, you will find that your datepicker has gone.  Bugger! Well you need to add this little gem to set it back up again once the UpdatePanel comes back to the page. var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_endRequest(function () {     $(".date-edit").datepicker({ dateFormat: "dd/mm/yy", firstDay: 1, showOtherMonths: true, selectOtherMonths: true }); });   Or like me, you would have a javascript function, something like InitPage(); do all your work in there and call that on document.ready and endRequest.   • Apache log - file does not exist

    I have quite a few of these in Apache logs piling up every day: [Mon Jun 09 20:42:58 2014] [error] [client 180.153.214.181] File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/ajax.googleapis.com, referer: http://www.mysite.com//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js I have over 200k visitors per day but a few of them like a dozen or so are generating the above error. I can't figure out what may be causing it. Checked the html code and it's all good so I ran out of ideas.
