  • Why use wmode at all?

    - by Captain Phoenix
What benefit does using wmode give if you're not needing transparency? I've look through this forum and found posts talking about the different wmode attributes here, but I want to know why I need to use it in the first place and if removing it will break anything else. My application uses wmode="opaque" at the moment but it seems to stop scrolling in Firefox. I use JavaScript focus() to allow the user to type directly into the flash ap. Otherwise I'm using the stock standard Flex Builder 3 HTML template. Edit: The ap uses the whole page, without any additional elements needing to be displayed over the flash part.

  • How to get Webkit Browser DBus Bridge working?

    - by SS
I've been struggling to get the Browser Dbus Binding working for Webkit/GTK (http://gitorious.org/webkitgtk/stable) port. I have been able to successfully compile the Webkit/GTK port as well as the DBus binding library on my Ubuntu Lucid Beta. I also installed the DBus binding library at the standard location /usr/local/lib. But now when I launch the Webkit/GTK browser and try to run one of the sample html files that are provided with DBus binding source, I get "Browser D-Bus Bridge not available, cannot run tests." Basically, JavaScript cannot find window.dbus object. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done here?

  • Javacript in html - Using single quote inside another single quote

    - by Ashish Nair
document.getElementById("img").innerHTML="< img src='/sitepath/"+imgg+".jpg' width='72' height='44' onclick='alert('hello');' />"; The above code is my javascript. Problem is printing hello or any other string. If I just type 123 in place of hello, it does give alert. But am not able to use a string like hello there. Normally a string in an alert function is kept inside quotes ' ' but the entire content is inside double quotes and I have already used single quote at the beginning of onclick function. I tried using Escape character ("\") but it didnt help. Any suggestions?

  • How to detect browser's protocol handlers?

    - by CJCraft.com
I have created a custom URL protocol handler. http:// mailto:// custom:// I have registered a WinForms application to respond accordingly. This all works great. But I would like to be able to gracefully handle the case where the user doesn't have the custom URL protocol handler installed, yet. In order to be able to do this I need to be able to detect the browser's registered protocol handlers, I would assume from JavaScript. But I have been unable to find a way to poll for the information. I am hoping to find a solution to this problem. Thanks for any ideas you might be able to share.

  • jquery animation callback - how to pass parameters to callback

    - by Hans
I´m building a jquery animation from a multidimensional array, and in the callback of each iteration i would like to use an element of the array. However somehow I always end up with last element of the array instead of all different elements. html: <div id="square" style="background-color: #33ff33; width: 100px; height: 100px; position: absolute; left: 100px;"></div> javascript: $(document).ready(function () { // Array with Label, Left pixels and Animation Lenght (ms) LoopArr = new Array( new Array(['Dog', 50, 500]), new Array(['Cat', 150, 5000]), new Array(['Cow', 200, 1500]) ); $('#square').click(function() { for (x in LoopArr) { $("#square").animate({ left: LoopArr[x][0][1] }, LoopArr[x][0][2], function() { alert (LoopArr[x][0][0]); }); } }); }); ` Current result: Cow, Cow, Cow Desired result: Dog, Cat, Cow How can I make sure the relevant array element is returned in the callback?

  • jQuery add Share Icon script

    - by Eddie Parker
Hello: I'm trying to add via jQuery the share icon [1]. Unfortunately I can't seem to do this as jQuery appears to escape the script code and I can't seem to get it to work with .text() or .html(). Has anyone gotten this, or something similar, working? The code I'm trying is: var enc = $('<div/>') .text('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://w.sharethis.com/button/sharethis.js#publisher=faa9f152-cae0-4ff3-bab7-32ae934bc698&amp;type=website&amp;style=ro ; $('<div/>') .appendTo(nav) .addClass('navItem') .append(eval(enc)) ; [1] http://sharethis.com/

  • Programming pattern to flatten deeply nested ajax callbacks?

    - by chiborg
    I've inherited JavaScript code where the success callback of an Ajax handler initiates another Ajax call where the success callback may or may not initiate another Ajax call. This leads to deeply nested anonymous functions. Maybe there is a clever programming pattern that avoids the deep-nesting and is more DRY. jQuery.extend(Application.Model.prototype, { process: function() { jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl1, dataType:'json', success:function(data) { // process data, then send it back jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl2, dataType:'json', success:function(data) { if(!data.ok) { jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl2, dataType:'json', success:mycallback }); } else { mycallback(data); } } }); } }); } });

  • How to allow my Asp.net MVC 3 web app using MathJax to accept user input $x<y>z$ ?

    - by Recycle Bin
I am developing a mathematics site using Asp.Net MVC 3 + Razor + MathJax. MathJax is a javascript library to render TeX or LaTeX codes on the web browser. And TeX or LaTeX codes represent mathematics contents such as an inline math $y=mx+c$ and a displayed math \[y=mx+c\]. Right now my site can accept input, for example, $x<y$. However it cannot accept $x<y>z$ because the framework regards this input is vulnerable to XSS and XSRF. Shortly speaking, what I should do to accomplish what I want but it does not open security vulnerability.

  • Extracting glyph-path information from ttf files

    - by Anonymous Coward
I'm trying to figure out a way to extract the information encoded in ttf files. namely: The char-to-glyph table and the individual glyph path data. Does anyone have a good reference explaining the ttf file structure, or some other solution? Keep in mind that I'm not interested in any libraries that can do it for me either (unless they are open source and I can see how they are doing it). The "master" goal is to implement it in Javascript. Thanks!

  • how u guys learn coding and programming

    - by dramasea
Hi, I am a newbie on programming and currently still learning. Can you contribute your opinion on how to learn that faster. I learn every single element of the language such as Javascript date object methods and properties: http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_obj_date.asp but it is pretty much all the same, should i read through it? or i just left it. You know that's very boring with just reading. So, can I ask those professional programmer, do you also read these when you learn programming?

  • How to access WebMethods in ASP.NET

    - by Quandary
When i define an AJAX WebMethod like this in an ASPX page (ui.aspx): [System.Web.Services.WebMethod(Description = "Get Import Progress-Report")] [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptMethod(UseHttpGet = false, ResponseFormat = System.Web.Script.Services.ResponseFormat.Json)] public static string GetProgress() { System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer JSONserializer = new System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer(); return JSONserializer.Serialize("an Object/Instance here"); } // End WebMethod-Function GetProgress Can I access the description for the corresponding service somewhere ? E.g. when I want to call the webmethod with my own JavaScript, how do I do that ? I investigated the axd files, and found the xmlhttprequest to open ui.aspx/GetProgress But when I type the address in my browser, I get redirected to ui.aspx

  • Embed VLC player in GWT

    - by chrisnfoneur
Hello, I want to embed a VLC player in my webapp build with Google's GWT. First I had a look at this page: http://wiki.videolan.org/GWT, which offers a nice solution but I add to implements all javascript functions calls (play, stop, fullscreen) with JSNI. Then I found gwt-player (hosted by Google code) which does all the job for me but the annoying part is that the project is not widely used (few posts each month on the project's group, not so many talks about it in blogs/forums...) Do you know another option to easly embed & control a VLC player in a GWT app ? My main goal is to play any video/audio file in a webapp and offer the user a fast/forward feature (set rate in VLC), is there any other player I could use ? I already had a look at Quicktime, Windows Media player & Flowplayer, none of them offers as much features as VLC. Thanks in advance & have a nice new year's eve. Chris

  • RegisterClientScriptBlock code not executing.

    - by ProfK
I'm using the following code in an attempt to show a dialog with a list of errors on the client: if (rollout.ImportErrors.Count > 0) { ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(GetType(), "showErrors", "showErrors();", true); } The error count is non-zero and the following script block is emitted, but the script isn't executing. <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ $("#error-report").dialog("open")//]]> </script> If I call the function directly from a Firebug console window, the dialog shows properly, so I know the dialog and my code are working. What am I doing wrong? BTW, this code is in a content page, using a content placeholder that 'injects' code into the element of the rendered page.

  • How do I make my drop down remain dropped down?

    - by counterbeing
    The site I'm currently working on is located at: http://counterbeing.com The problem I'm trying to solve is that when you run your mouse over the "Categories" button, the sub-menu items pop up, but then disappear before you can click them. I've tried a variety of things. For one thing, I was attempting to define the div that the sub menu items are wrapped in as something that will also trigger the animation, but that doesn't seem to work... Here is the javascript file I'm using to grab both layers. I have it divided into 2 layers because one of them is somewhat transparent. $(document).ready(function() { ($("div#CategoriesLink").hover(function(){ $("div#navdrop").animate({ top: "0px" }) $("div#CategoryButtonHolder").animate({ top: "0px" }) }); });

  • JQuery tablesorter problem

    - by Don
Hi, I'm having a couple of problems with the JQuery tablesorter plugin. If you click on a column header, it should sort the data by this column, but there are a couple of problems: The rows are not properly sorted (1, 1, 2183, 236) The total row is included in the sort Regarding (2), I can't easily move the total row to a table footer, because the HTML is generated by the displaytag tag library over which I have limited control. Regarding (1), I don't understand why the sort doesn't work as I've used exactly the same JavaScript shown in the simplest example in the tablesorter tutorials. In fact, there's only a single line of JS code, which is: <body onload="jQuery('#communityStats').tablesorter();"> Thanks in advance, Don

  • Ignoring old multiple asynchronous ajax requests

    - by Travis
I've got a custom javascript autocomplete script that hits the server with multiple asynchronous ajax requests. (Everytime a key gets pressed.) I've noticed that sometimes an earlier ajax request will be returned after a later requests, which messes things up. The way I handle this now is I have a counter that increments for each ajax request. Requests that come back with a lower count get ignored. I'm wondering: Is this proper? Or is there a better way of dealing with this issue? Thanks in advance, Travis

  • dojo/dijit and Printing

    - by Kitson
I want to be able to provide a button to my users to just print a particular portion of my dojo/dijit application. There seems to be a general lack of documentation and examples when it comes to printing. For example, I have a specific dijit.layout.ContentPane that contains the content that I would like to print, but I wouldn't want to print the rest of the document. I have seen some pure JavaScript examples on the web where the node.innerHTML is read into a "hidden" iframe and then printed from there. I suspect that would work, but I was wondering if there was a more dojo centric approach to printing. Any thoughts?

  • find the position of the cursor where user have clicked and display one div where user have clicked.

    - by Avinash
Hi all, I want to determine the position of the cursor where user have clicked. And display one div at bottom side of the page where user have clicked. For example on stack over flow home page if some one click on the logo. Then the div should be displayed at the bottom position of the logo. Same way if i click on the bottom link then that div should be displayed at the bottom portion of the page. I am using mootools as my JS framework. But any JavaScript code will be helpful for me. Hope this is clear to all. Thanks in advance Avinash

  • What causes the error "Can't execute code from a freed script"

    - by tjrobinson
I thought I'd found the solution a while ago (see my blog): If you ever get the JavaScript (or should that be JScript) error "Can't execute code from a freed script" - try moving any meta tags in the head so that they're before your script tags. ...but based on one of the most recent blog comments, the fix I suggested may not work for everyone. I thought this would be a good one to open up to the StackOverflow community.... What causes the error "Can't execute code from a freed script" and what are the solutions/workarounds?

But when I press F12 in FireFox and type this===window in the console, it will give me an answer false, why? Great thanks.
