  • Flex 4 - Highlight keywords in a block of text using TextLine

    - by Baz
    I have a search and results page that I would like to highlight the keywords that were searched for, in the text of the results. It was suggested that I use TextLine for this, but I am having trouble figuring out how to make it work. I started a simple, compilable dummy application and was hoping someone could give me some tips on how to continue: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" initialize="initApp();"> <fx:Script> import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.text.engine.*; private var textLine:TextLine; private function initApp():void { var normalFormat:ElementFormat = new ElementFormat(null, 12, 0x000000); var highlightFormat:ElementFormat = new ElementFormat(null, 14, 0xff0000); var textBlock:TextBlock = new TextBlock(new TextElement("This is text that has KEYWORDS. I would like to highlight these KEYWORDS by changing their font color and adding a light yellow background graphic.", normalFormat)); textLine = textBlock.createTextLine(); textLine.y = 100; embeddedFontHolder.addChild(textLine); } </fx:Script> <mx:UIComponent width="100%" id="embeddedFontHolder" /> </s:Application> Anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Baz

  • String operations

    - by NEO
    I am trying to find the most repeated word in a string. My code is as follows: public class Word { private String toWord; private int Count; public Word(int count, String word){ toWord = word; Count = count; } public static void main(String args[]){ String str="my name is neo and my other name is also neo because I am neo"; String []str1=str.split(" "); Word w1=new Word(0,str1[0]); LinkedList<Word> list = new LinkedList<Word>(); list.add(w1); ListIterator itr = list.listIterator(); for(int i=1;i<str1.length;i++){ while(itr.hasNext()){ if(str1[i].equalsTO(????)); else list.add(new Word(0,str1[i])); } How do I compare the string from string array str1 to the string stored in the linked list and then how do i increase the respective count. I will then print the string with the highest count, I dont know how to do that either.

  • Binding search results to data grid

    - by Abid
    I want to add search functionality to my program. There's a class which has this function: public DataTable Search() { string SQL = "Select * from Customer where " + mField + " like '%" + mValue + "%'"; DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt = dm.GetData(SQL); return (dt); } There are setter and getter properties for mField and mValue. DM is the object of class DataManagement, which has a method GetData: public DataTable GetData(string SQL) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(); SqlDataAdapter dbAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(); DataTable DataTable = new DataTable(); command.Connection = clsConnection.GetConnection(); command.CommandText = SQL; dbAdapter.SelectCommand = command; dbAdapter.Fill(DataTable); return (DataTable); } The search functionality is currently implemented like this: private void btnfind_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //cust is the object of class customer// if (tbCustName.Text != "") { cust.Field="CustName"; cust.Value = tbCustName.Text; } else if (tbAddress.Text != "") { cust.Value = tbAddress.Text; cust.Field="Address"; } else if (tbEmail.Text != "") { cust.Value = tbEmail.Text; cust.Field="Email"; } else if (tbCell.Text != "") { cust.Value = tbCell.Text; cust.Field = "Cell"; } DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt = cust.Search(); dgCustomer.DataSource = dt; RefreshGrid(); } private void RefreshGrid() { DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt = cust.GetCustomers(); dgCustomer.DataSource = dt; } This is not working. I don't know why. Please help.

  • How `is_base_of` works?

    - by Alexey Malistov
    Why the following code works? typedef char (&yes)[1]; typedef char (&no)[2]; template <typename B, typename D> struct Host { operator B*() const; operator D*(); }; template <typename B, typename D> struct is_base_of { template <typename T> static yes check(D*, T); static no check(B*, int); static const bool value = sizeof(check(Host<B,D>(), int())) == sizeof(yes); }; //Test sample class Base {}; class Derived : private Base {}; //Exspression is true. int test[is_base_of<Base,Derived>::value && !is_base_of<Derived,Base>::value]; Note that B is private base. Note that operator B*() is const. How does this work? Why this works? Why static yes check(D*, T); is better than static yes check(B*, int); ?

  • Good suggestions for learning OOP PHP

    - by Doug
    I've been trying to learn PHP OOP and have looked at multiple articles, but have yet to find a good resource for learning. I want to learn from the user of setters and getters, $this-, constructors, and so on...! Can anyone please suggest me something? I noticed MOST teachings leave out the explanation of $this-. I want to learn magic methods, decorators, encapsulation, etc... Feel free to suggest something that I haven't explicitly listed.

  • Finding leaks under GeneralBlock-16?

    - by erastusnjuki
    If ObjectAlloc cannot deduce type information for the block, it uses 'GeneralBlock'. Any strategies to get leaks from this block that may eliminate the need of my 'trial and error' methods that I use? The Extended Detail thing doesn't really do it for me as I just keep guessing.

  • Is portobuf-net generated binary compatible with Google specs

    - by cornerback84
    Actually I want to serialize my data using Google's java implementation and then deserialize using C# implementation? I have chosen portobuf-net as it seems to be more stable (porto# is still v0.9 or I would have gone for it). Before I start working on it I wanted to be sure that I can achieve this (serializing data using java implementation and deserializing it using potobuf-net). Or is there any list of methods that are specific to portobuf-net implementation?

  • Is it possible to convert text to shape in VML /canvas/SVG ?

    - by est
    Hello, I need to display a text in 3D using vml/canvas/svg and do some transformation to the shape of the text like the effect of Ctrl+T in photoshop, even align a line of text to a curve, is there a way to convert text to shape first? The only thing close is getImageData() in firefox which is not ideal but OK. Any better methods? Using browser-specific hacks or voodoo is OK, but no Flash please :)

  • GWT Animation final value is not respected

    - by brad
    I have a FlowPanel that I'm trying to animate back and forth like an iphone nav. (See this post for my original question on how to do this) So I have it "working" with the code shown below. I say working in quotes because I'm finding that my final position of my scroller is not precise and always changes when scrolling. The GWT.log always says the actual values I'm looking for, so for instance with the call below to scrollTo, my GWT.log says: ScrollStart: 0 scrollStop: -246 But when I actually analyze the element in fireBug, its css, left position is never exactly -246px. Sometimes it's off by as much as 10px so my panel has just stopped scrolling before being finished. The worst part is that this nav animates back and forth, so subsequent clicks can really throw it off, and I need pixel perfect positioning otherwise the whole things looks off. I don't even know where to start with debugging this other than what I've already done. Any tips are appreciated. Code to call animation scroller = new Scroller(); scroller.scrollTo(-246,400); Animation Code public class Scroller extends Animation { private FlowPanel scroller; private final Element e; public Scroller(){ scroller = new FlowPanel(); e = scroller.getElement(); } public void scrollTo(int position, int milliseconds) { scrollStart = e.getOffsetLeft(); scrollStop = position; GWT.log("ScrollStart: " + scrollStart + " scrollStop: " + scrollStop); run(milliseconds); } @Override protected void onUpdate(double progress) { double position = scrollStart + (progress * (scrollStop - scrollStart)); e.getStyle().setLeft(position, Style.Unit.PX); } }

  • Blackberry invalidate field not causing a repaint

    - by Michaela
    I'm writing a Blackberry app. I have a custom list field where I can select an item in the list which pushes the edit screen onto the stack. I edit the item and save, and when I pop that screen off so I am back on my list screen, I want to view the update I just made reflected in the list. I have done this on other screens which just had LabelFields and it worked fine. However, with the list screen, calling invalidate() seems to do nothing. I know the value has saved correctly through print lines, and I see the paint() method in the listfield is getting called. But the only way I can get the list field to update is to delete it from the screen and re-add it. That seems wrong. What am I doing wrong? public class ListTasksScreen extends MainScreen{ private TaskList tasks; private CustomListField taskListField; public ListTasksScreen (TaskList tasks){ super(); this.tasks = tasks; Vector incompleteTasks = tasks.getIncompleteTasks(); taskListField = new CustomListField(incompleteTasks, tasks); add(taskListField); } public void updateTaskList(TaskList t) { Vector incompleteTasks = t.getIncompleteTasks(); taskListField= new TaskListField(incompletetTasks, t); //I just want to call taskListField.invalidate() here. //the only thing that seems to work is deleting taskListField //and re-adding this.delete(taskListField); add(taskListField); } }

  • Sorting function/variables in an object by name

    - by sissonb

  • Is nested synchronized block necessary?

    - by Dan
    I am writing a multithreaded program and I have a method that has a nested synchronized blocks and I was wondering if I need the inner sync or if just the outer sync is good enough. public class Tester { private BlockingQueue<Ticket> q = new LinkedBlockingQueue<>(); private ArrayList<Long> list = new ArrayList<>(); public void acceptTicket(Ticket p) { try { synchronized (q) { q.put(p); synchronized (list) { if (list.size() < 5) { list.add(p.getSize()); } else { list.remove(0); list.add(p.getSize()); } } } } catch (InterruptedException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Consumer.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } } EDIT: This isn't a complete class as I am still working on it. But essentially I am trying to emulate a ticket machine. The ticket machine maintains a list of tickets in the BlockingQueue q. Whenever a client adds a ticket to the machine, the machine also keeps track of the price of the last 5 tickets (ArrayList list)

  • Bind multiple events to jQuery 'live' method

    - by Will Peavy
    jQuery's 'live' method is unable to handle multiple events. Does anyone know of a good workaround to attach multiple events to a function that polls current and future elements? Or am I stuck using duplicate live methods for each event handler I need? Example - I am trying to do something like: $('.myclass').live('change keypress blur', function(){ // do stuff });

  • Am I using handlers in the wrong way?

    - by superexsl
    Hey, I've never used HTTP Handlers before, and I've got one working, but I'm not sure if I'm actually using it properly. I have generated a string which will be saved as a CSV file. When the user clicks a button, I want the download dialog box to open so that the user can save the file. What I have works, but I keep reading about modifying the web.config file and I haven't had to do that. My Handler: private string _data; private string _title = "temp"; public void AddData(string data) { _data = data; } public bool IsReusable { get { return false; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { context.Response.ContentType = "text/csv"; context.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "filename=" + _title + ".csv"); context.Response.Write(_data); context.Response.Flush(); context.Response.Close(); } And this is from the page that allows the user to download: (on button click) string dataToConvert = "MYCSVDATA...."; csvHandler handler = new csvHandler(); handler.AddData(dataToConvert); handler.ProcessRequest(this.Context); This works fine, but no examples I've seen ever instantiate the handler and always seem to modify the web.config. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

I created a diamond and it is moving horizontally, but i want it to start moving from a position which is half way from the top of the form. This is the code to create a diamond, private void Form1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; Point p1 = new Point(5+x, 0); Point p2 = new Point(10+x, 5); Point p3 = new Point(5+x, 10); Point p4 = new Point(0+x, 5); Point[] ps = { p1, p2, p3, p4, p1 }; Pen p_yellow = new Pen(Color.Yellow, 5); g.DrawLines(p_yellow, ps); this.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.DarkBlue; } I can make it move using the timer and following is the code, private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (x < 500) x += 2; else timer1.Enabled = false; this.Invalidate(); } please tell me how to bring the diamond to a point which is half way from the top of the form?

  • Search function on listview

    Is it possible to search a listview and restrict the items in the listview by the search criteria? private void displayDeliveries() { lstDeliveryDetails.Items.Clear(); foreach (Delivery d in mainForm.myDeliveries) { ListViewItem item = lstDeliveryDetails.Items.Add(d.DeliveryName); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryAddress); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryDay); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryTime); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryMeal); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryInstructions); item.SubItems.Add(d.DeliveryStatus); } } At the moment that code populates the listview. private void btnSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //reset the selection and get the searched text iDeliverySelected = -1; string searchValue = txtSearchBox.Text; //loop through to find the search for (int i = 0; i < myDeliveries.Count; i++) { Delivery d = (Delivery)mainForm.myDeliveries[i]; if (d.DeliveryName == searchValue) MessageBox.Show("name matched"); } } So far this is what I have for search, I'm struggling to take it to the next level! • In Java it seems Public constructors are always a bad coding practice

    - by Adam Gent
    This maybe a controversial question and may not be suited for this forum (so I will not be insulted if you choose to close this question). It seems given the current capabilities of Java there is no reason to make constructors public ... ever. Friendly, private, protected are OK but public no. It seems that its almost always a better idea to provide a public static method for creating objects. Every Java Bean serialization technology (JAXB, Jackson, Spring etc...) can call a protected or private no-arg constructor. My questions are: I have never seen this practice decreed or written down anywhere? Maybe Bloch mentions it but I don't own is book. Is there a use case other than perhaps not being super DRY that I missed? EDIT: I explain why static methods are better. .1. For one you get better type inference. For example See Guava's http://code.google.com/p/guava-libraries/wiki/CollectionUtilitiesExplained .2. As a designer of the class you can later change what is returned with a static method. .3. Dealing with constructor inheritance is painful especially if you have to pre-calculate something.

  • WPF RadioButton selected in UI, but seen by code as IsChecked == false

    - by Mike
    I have some radio buttons in a group box. I select the buttons randomly, and all works perfectly from a visual standpoint and also the event handler is called each time a new button is selected. Now I have a dependency property with a callback when the value changes. When in this callback procedure I read the IsChecked value of any button, the value is False, in spite the button is visually selected (they are all false at the same time, strange). The debugger also displays all buttons unchecked. Hu hu, I'm lacking ideas about the reason, after the basic verifications... <GroupBox> <StackPanel> <RadioButton x:Name="btNone" Content="Disconnected" IsChecked="True" Checked="OnSelChecked"/> <RadioButton x:Name="btManual" Content="Manual" Checked="OnSelChecked"/> </StackPanel> </GroupBox> Event handler: private void OnSelChecked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (btManual.IsChecked == true) { // is called } } Dependency property: public static readonly DependencyProperty ManualProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Manual", typeof(Position), typeof(SwitchBox), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(null, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsRender, new PropertyChangedCallback(OnManualChanged))); Dependency property callback: private static void OnManualChanged(DependencyObject sender, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { SwitchBox box = sender as SwitchBox; if (box.btManual.IsChecked == true) { // never true, why?? } }
