  Hi, I have an execute(String cmd) in a jsp script that calls the exec method from the Runtime class. It works when I call a local command, like a php script stored on the server. for example: /usr/bin/php /path/to/php/script arg1 arg2 So I guess my execute command is ok, since it is working with that. Now when I try to call lynx, the text-based web browser, it does not work. If I call it in a terminal, it works fine: /usr/bin/lynx -dump -accept_all_cookies 'http://www.someurl.net/?arg1=1&arg2=2' But when I call this from my execute command, nothing happens... Any idea why? • Why is my Map broken?

  Scenario: Creating a server which has Room objects which contain User objects. I want to store the rooms in a Map of some sort by Id (a string). Desired Behavior: When a user makes a request via the server, I should be able to look up the Room by id from the library and then add the user to the room, if that's what the request needs. Currently I use the static function in my Library.java class where the Map is stored to retrieve Rooms: public class Library { private static Hashtable<String, Rooms> myRooms = new Hashtable<String, Rooms>(); public static addRoom(String s, Room r) { myRooms.put(s, r); } public static Room getRoomById(String s) { return myRooms.get(s); } } In another class I'll do the equivalent of myRoom.addUser(user); What I'm observing using Hashtable, is that no matter how many times I add a user to the Room returned by getRoomById, the user is not in the room later. I thought that in Java, the object that was returned was essentially a reference to the data, the same object that was in the Hashtable with the same references; but, it isn't behaving like that. Is there a way to get this behavior? Maybe with a wrapper of some sort? Am I just using the wrong variant of map? Help?

  This is whats going on. I have a huge text file that is suppose to be 1 line per entry. The issue is sometimes the line is broken with a new line. I edit this entire file and wherever the file doesn't begin with ("\"A) i need to append the current line to the previous line ( replacing \n with " "). Everything I come up with keeps appending the line to a new line. Any help is appricated... • Prevent SQL Injection in Dynamic column names

  I can't get away without writing some dynamic sql conditions in a part of my system (using Postgres). My question is how best to avoid SQL Injection with the method I am currently using. EDIT (Reasoning): There are many of columns in a number of tables (a number which grows (only) and is maintained elsewhere). I need a method of allowing the user to decide which (predefined) column they want to query (and if necessary apply string functions to). The query itself is far too complex for the user to write themselves, nor do they have access to the db. There are 1000's of users with varying requirements and I need to remain as flexible as possible - I shouldn't have to revisit the code unless the main query needs to change - Also, there is no way of knowing what conditions the user will need to use. I have objects (received via web service) that generates a condition (the generation method is below - it isn't perfect yet) for some large sql queries. The _FieldName is user editable (parameter name was, but it didn't need to be) and I am worried it could be an attack vector. I put double quotes (see quoted identifier) around the field name in an attempt to sanitize the string, this way it can never be a key word. I could also look up the field name against a list of fields, but it would be difficult to maintain on a timely basis. Unfortunately the user must enter the condition criteria, I am sure there must be more I can add to the sanatize method? and does quoting the column name make it safe? (my limited testing seems to think so). an example built condition would be "AND upper(brandloaded.make) like 'O%' and upper(brandloaded.make) not like 'OTHERBRAND'" ...   I am trying to create a UserControl that is a composite control for entering Dates. It involves 2 drop down controls (one for month and one for day) and a text box for year. It also has a CustomValidation control that I would like the user of the UserControl to be able to set the ClientValidationFunction property and have it triggered whenever the value in any of the 3 date part controls changes. To hook up each of the 3 controls to the validation control, I use teh AJAX ValidatorHookupControlID method. • asp.net repeater returns weird html

  I have a repeater that is supposed to create div tags with their onclick functions from databind. Which is like onclick='<%# "functionname('" + Eval("somestring") +"');" %>' but the single quotes ' after the js func ( and before ) , they become something like ?,= ..   Hello, I've been looking into custom event (listeners) for quite some time, but never succeeded in making one. There are so many different mehods, extending the Event class, but also Extending the EventDispatcher class, very confusing! Now What I want is something like a mouseevent, which can be applied to a target and does not require a specific class.
