  • multi-threaded proxy checker having problems

    - by Paul
    hello everyone, I am trying to create a proxy checker. This is my first attempt at multithreading and it's not going so well, the threads seem to be waiting for one to complete before initializing the next. Imports System.Net Imports System.IO Imports System.Threading Public Class Form1 Public sFileName As String Public srFileReader As System.IO.StreamReader Public sInputLine As String Public Class WebCall Public proxy As String Public htmlout As String Public Sub New(ByVal proxy As String) Me.proxy = proxy End Sub Public Event ThreadComplete(ByVal htmlout As String) Public Sub send() Dim myWebRequest As HttpWebRequest = CType(WebRequest.Create("http://www.myserver.com/ip.php"), HttpWebRequest) myWebRequest.Proxy = New WebProxy(proxy, False) Try Dim myWebResponse As HttpWebResponse = CType(myWebRequest.GetResponse(), HttpWebResponse) Dim loResponseStream As StreamReader = New StreamReader(myWebResponse.GetResponseStream()) htmlout = loResponseStream.ReadToEnd() Debug.WriteLine("Finished - " & htmlout) RaiseEvent ThreadComplete(htmlout) Catch ex As WebException If (ex.Status = WebExceptionStatus.ConnectFailure) Then End If Debug.WriteLine("Failed - " & proxy) End Try End Sub End Class Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim proxy As String Dim webArray As New ArrayList() Dim n As Integer For n = 0 To 2 proxy = srFileReader.ReadLine() webArray.Add(New WebCall(proxy)) Next Dim w As WebCall For Each w In webArray Threading.ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(New WaitCallback(AddressOf w.send), w) Next w End Sub Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load srFileReader = System.IO.File.OpenText("proxies.txt") End Sub End Class

  • Java performance issue

    - by Colby77
    Hi, I've got a question related to java performance and method execution. In my app there are a lot of place where I have to validate some parameter, so I've written a Validator class and put all the validation methods into it. Here is an example: public class NumberValidator { public static short shortValidator(String s) throws ValidationException{ try{ short sh = Short.parseShort(s); if(sh < 1){ throw new ValidationException(); } return sh; }catch (Exception e) { throw new ValidationException("The parameter is wrong!"); } } ... But I'm thinking about that. Is this OK? It's OO and modularized, but - considering performance - is it a good idea? What if I had awful lot of invocation at the same time? The snippet above is short and fast, but there are some methods that take more time. What happens when there are a lot of calling to a static method or an instance method in the same class and the method is not synchronized? All the calling methods have to fall in line and the JVM executes them sequentially? Is it a good idea to have some class that are identical to the above-mentioned and randomly call their identical methods? I think it is not, because "Don't repeat yourself " and "Duplication is Evil" etc. But what about performance? Thanks is advance.

  • html css header text

    - by JohnWong
    I am trying to move the nav text (home...) up in the middle to the right. But when I do -120px for the top (nav.li), it eats up part of the banner. How can I fix that? Thanks body { background-color: #D6E2FF; } #headerimg { margin: 10px 0px 0px 0px; height: fixed; width: 95%; } #header { height:auto; background:url("menubar.jpg") no-repeat; } #logo { background: transparent url("logo.jpg") no-repeat; display: block; width: 146px; height: 146px; border: none; } #navcontainer { font-size: 200%; margin: -100px 0px 0px 500px; } #navlist li { display: inline; list-style-type: none; padding-right: 30px; color: #FFFFFF; }

  • Please help debug this ASP.Net [VB] code. Trying to write to text file from SQL Server DB.

    - by NJTechGuy
    I am a PHP programmer. I have no .Net coding experience (last seen it 4 years ago). Not interested in code-behind model since this is a quick temporary hack. What I am trying to do is generate an output.txt file whenever the user submits new data. So an output.txt file if exists should be replaced with the new one. I want to write data in this format : 123|Java Programmer|2010-01-01|2010-02-03 124|VB Programmer|2010-01-01|2010-02-03 125|.Net Programmer|2010-01-01|2010-02-03 I don't know VB, so not sure about string manipulations. Hope a kind soul can help me with this. I will be grateful to you. Thank you :) <%@ Import Namespace="System.IO" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.SqlClient" %> <script language="vb" runat="server"> sub Page_Load(sender as Object, e as EventArgs) Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=winsqlus04.1and1.com;Initial Catalog=db28765269;User Id=dbo2765469;Password=ByhgstfH;") Dim myCommand As SqlCommand Dim dr As SqlDataReader Dim FILENAME as String = Server.MapPath("Output4.txt") Dim objStreamWriter as StreamWriter ' If Len(Dir$(FILENAME)) > 0 Then Kill(FILENAME) objStreamWriter = File.AppendText(FILENAME) Try sqlConn.Open() 'opening the connection myCommand = New SqlCommand("SELECT id, title, CONVERT(varchar(10), expirydate, 120) AS [expirydate],CONVERT(varchar(10), creationdate, 120) AS [createdate] from tblContact where flag = 0 AND ACTIVE = 1", sqlConn) 'executing the command and assigning it to connection dr = myCommand.ExecuteReader() While dr.Read() objStreamWriter.WriteLine("JobID: " & dr(0).ToString()) objStreamWriter.WriteLine("JobID: " & dr(2).ToString()) objStreamWriter.WriteLine("JobID: " & dr(3).ToString()) End While dr.Close() sqlConn.Close() Catch x As Exception End Try objStreamWriter.Close() Dim objStreamReader as StreamReader objStreamReader = File.OpenText(FILENAME) Dim contents as String = objStreamReader.ReadToEnd() lblNicerOutput.Text = contents.Replace(vbCrLf, "<br>") objStreamReader.Close() end sub </script> <asp:label runat="server" id="lblNicerOutput" Font-Name="Verdana" />

    - by Steve
    Hi, I am currently building a dynamic url tab system that user can say what urls they want to be displayed on a tabpage control. In the database i have the following columns. userID, int URLName var Enabled bit I am pulling the data back ok but what i am trying do is populate a checkbox list with the urlname and its status on a user options page so they can say what tabs they want displayed. I have wrote the following methods to get the urls and create the checkboxes however i keep getting the following error. ex = {"InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.\r\nParameter name: index"} It reads the first row ok but when it hits the 2nd row that is being returned i get that error. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks private void GetUserURLS() { db.initiateCommand("[Settings].[LoadAllUserURLS]", CommandType.StoredProcedure); sqlp = db.addParameter("@UserID", _UserID, SqlDbType.Int, ParameterDirection.Input); sqlp = db.addParameter("@spErrorID", DBNull.Value, SqlDbType.Int, ParameterDirection.InputOutput); db.executeCommand(); CreateCheckBoxes(db.getTable(0).Rows); db.releaseCommand(); } private void CreateCheckBoxes(DataRowCollection rows) { try { int i = 0; foreach (DataRow row in rows) { //Gets the url name and path when the status is enabled. • Why did instruments report a leak while its ref count did become zero

    - by bromj
    Hello guys, green hand i am. I'm using instruments, and it did a great help to me so far, but I'm confused now 'cause it report a memory leak to me while its leaked block history shows me that the ref count of that memory had finally become 0. What does it mean? It's really embarrassing that I couldn't post a image here... so I have to describe it in text. Hope it would be clear enough for you: Event Type || RefCt || Responsible Library || Responsible Caller Malloc         || 1        || MyWeather              || +[ForecastData parseSingleForecastWithXMLElement:] Autorelease||           || MyWeather              || +[ForecastData parseSingleForecastWithXMLElement:] Retain         || 2        || MyWeather              || +[ForecastData parseWithData:] Release      || 1        || Foundation              || +[NSAutoreleasePool drain:] Retain         || 2        || Foundation              || +[NSThread initWithTarget:selector:object:] Release      || 1        || Foundation              || +[NSString compare:options:] Release      || 0        || MyWeather              || +[RootViewController dealloc] Any help will be appreciated~

  • Can I automatically throw descriptive exceptions with parameter values and class feild information?

    - by Robert H.
    I honestly don't throw exceptions often. I catch them even less, ironically. I currently work in shop where we let them bubble up to avicode. For whatever reason, however, avicode isn't configured to capture some of the critical bits I need when these exceptions come bouncing back to my attention. Specifically, I'd like to see the parameter values and the class’s field data at the time of the exception. I’d guess with the large suite of .Net services that I could create a static method to crawl up the stack, gather these bits and store them in a string that I could stick in my exception message. I really don't are how long such a method would take to execute as performance is no longer a concern when I hit one of these scenarios. If it's possible, I'm sure someone has done it. If that's the case, I'm having a hard time finding it. I think any search containing "exception" brings back too many resutls. Anyway, can this be done? If so, some examples or links would be great. Thanks in advance for your time, Robert

  • How to use SQLErrorCodeSQLExceptionTranslator and DAO class with @Repository in Spring?

    - by GuidoMB
    I'm using Spring 3.0.2 and I have a class called MovieDAO that uses JDBC to handle the db. I have set the @Repository annotations and I want to convert the SQLException to the Spring's DataAccessException I have the following example: @Repository public class JDBCCommentDAO implements CommentDAO { static JDBCCommentDAO instance; ConnectionManager connectionManager; private JDBCCommentDAO() { connectionManager = new ConnectionManager("org.postgresql.Driver", "postgres", "postgres"); } static public synchronized JDBCCommentDAO getInstance() { if (instance == null) instance = new JDBCCommentDAO(); return instance; } @Override public Collection<Comment> getComments(User user) throws DAOException { Collection<Comment> comments = new ArrayList<Comment>(); try { String query = "SELECT * FROM Comments WHERE Comments.userId = ?"; Connection conn = connectionManager.getConnection(); PreparedStatement stmt = conn.prepareStatement(query); stmt = conn.prepareStatement(query); stmt.setInt(1, user.getId()); ResultSet result = stmt.executeQuery(); while (result.next()) { Movie movie = JDBCMovieDAO.getInstance().getLightMovie(result.getInt("movie")); comments.add(new Comment(result.getString("text"), result.getInt("score"), user, result.getDate("date"), movie)); } connectionManager.closeConnection(conn); } catch (SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); //CONVERT TO DATAACCESSEXCEPTION } return comments; } } I Don't know how to get the Translator and I don't want to extends any Spring class, because that is why I'm using the @Repository annotation

  • how to read an arraylist from a txt file in java?

    - by lox
    how to read an arraylist from a txt file in java? my arraylist is the form of: public class Account { String username; String password; } i managed to put some "Accounts" in the a txt file, but now i don't know how to read them. this is how my arraylist look in the txt file: username1 password1 | username2 password2 | etc this is a part of the code i came up with, but it doesn't work. it looks logic to me though... :) . public static void RdAc(String args[]) { ArrayList<Account> peoplelist = new ArrayList<Account>(50); int i,i2,i3; String[] theword = null; try { FileReader fr = new FileReader("myfile.txt"); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr); String line = ""; while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { String[] theline = line.split(" | "); for (i = 0; i < theline.length; i++) { theword = theline[i].split(" "); } for(i3=0;i3<theline.length;i3++) { Account people = new Account(); for (i2 = 0; i2 < theword.length; i2++) { people.username = theword[i2]; people.password = theword[i2+1]; peoplelist.add(people); } } } } catch (IOException ex) { System.out.println("Could not read from file"); } }

  • Pronunciation of programming structures (particularly in c#)

    - by Andrzej Nosal
    As a non-English speaking person I often have problems pronouncing certain programming structures and abbreviations. I've been watching some video tutorials and listening to podcasts as well, though I couldn't catch them all. My question is what is the common or correct pronunciation of the following code snippets? Generics, like IEnumerable<int> or in a method void Swap<T>(T lhs, T rhs) Collections indexing and indexer access e.g. garage[i], rectangular arrays myArray[2,1] or jagged[1][2][3] Lambda operator =>, e.g. in a where extension method .Where(animal => animal.Color == Color.Brown) or in an anonymous method () => { return false;} Inheritance class Derived : Base (extends?) class SomeClass : IDisposable (implements?) Arithemtic operators += -= *= /= %= ! Are += and -= pronounced the same for events? Collections initializers new int[] { 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17 }; Casting MyEnum foo = (MyEnum)(int)yourFloat; (as?) Nullables DateTime? dt = new DateTime?(); I tagged the question with C# as some of them are specific to C# only.

  • Why do programmers have to learn for their whole lives and aren't you afraid of that?

    - by serg555
    Programming technologies are evolving so fast that programmers constantly have to learn more and more to catch up whether you want it or not. Often it is not just learning more in the same direction but starting from a scratch. Lets say you were a topnotch programmer in 1999 who quit for 10 years and went to a job interview in 2009 (funny even to imagine) - how much of your knowledge is still needed? And if we take a carpenter, engineer, doctor or even mathematician - they all are still good specialists after 10 years. So why programming is so not stable? Is it because it is just relatively new or because something important is still missing after 50 years and we can't find it to settle in that direction? Do you think after some time situation will change? Learning something new all the time is exciting and all, but it is starting to worry me that as I become older it will be harder and harder. After all "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" and I'm afraid that at the end I just end up behind college students and become one of those "cobol dinosaurs", only it will be probably "java dinosaurs" by that time.

  • Creating an HTTP-Redirected Virtual Directopry in IIS 6.0 without specifying physical path & WMI/ADS

    - by Steve Johnson
    My question is : Is it possible to create a working IIS 6.0 Virtual Directory with providing Physical Path of the Virtual Directory.? I know that manually, it is not possible via IIS but programmatically such a virtual directory can be created. If an HTTPRedirect is set on that virtual directory but the site physical path is not specified, then will it work? Simply stated, how to create an HTTp-redirected Virtual Directory , directly without specifying any physical path to a folder or network share. Here is my code. Try If Directory.Exists(HomeDirectory) = False And Path.StartsWith("http://") = False Then Directory.CreateDirectory(HomeDirectory) End If Dim website As DirectoryEntry website = New DirectoryEntry("IIS://" & IISServer & "/W3SVC/" & WebsiteId & "/Root") Dim NewVDir As DirectoryEntry = website.Children.Add(VDirName, "IIsWebVirtualDir") If Path.StartsWith("http://") = False Then NewVDir.Properties("Path")(0) = Path NewVDir.Properties("HttpRedirect").Clear() Else NewVDir.Properties("HttpRedirect")(0) = Path End If If ((Perm And Permission.Read) = Permission.Read) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessRead")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.Write) = Permission.Write) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessWrite")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.DirBrowse) = Permission.DirBrowse) Then NewVDir.Properties("EnableDirBrowsing")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.CreatetApplication) = Permission.CreatetApplication) Then NewVDir.Invoke("AppCreate", True) End If If ((Perm And Permission.ScriptOnly) = Permission.ScriptOnly) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessScript")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.ScriptNExecute) = Permission.ScriptNExecute) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessExecute")(0) = True End If NewVDir.Properties("AuthAnonymous")(0) = True NewVDir.Properties("AuthNTLM")(0) = True NewVDir.Properties("AnonymousUserName")(0) = AnonUserName NewVDir.Properties("AnonymousUserPass")(0) = AnonPassword NewVDir.Properties("AppFriendlyName")(0) = AppFriendlyName NewVDir.CommitChanges() website.CommitChanges() NewVDir.Close() website.Close() Success = True Catch Err As Exception Throw New Exception("My Custom Exception Here: " & Err.Message) End Try

  • Preserving SCRIPT tags (and more) in CKEditor

    - by Jonathan Sampson
    Update: I'm thinking the solution to this problem is in CKEDITOR.config.protectedSource(), but my regular-expression experience is proving to be too juvenile to handle this issue. How would I go about exempting all tags that contain the 'preserved' class from being touched by CKEditor? Is it possible to create a block of code within the CKEditor that will not be touched by the editor itself, and will be maintained in its intended-state until explicitly changed by the user? I've been attempting to input javascript variables (bound in script tags) and a flash movie following, but CKEditor continues to rewrite my pasted code/markup, and in doing so breaking my code. I'm working with the following setup: <script type="text/javascript"> var editor = CKEDITOR.replace("content", { height : "500px", width : "680px", resize_maxWidth : "680px", resize_minWidth : "680px", toolbar : [ ['Source','-','Save','Preview'], ['Cut','Copy','Paste','PasteText','PasteFromWord','-','Print', 'SpellChecker', 'Scayt'], ['Undo','Redo','-','Find','Replace','-','SelectAll','RemoveFormat'], ['Bold','Italic','Underline','Strike','-','Subscript','Superscript'], ['NumberedList','BulletedList','-','Outdent','Indent','Blockquote'], ['JustifyLeft','JustifyCenter','JustifyRight','JustifyBlock'], ['Link','Unlink','Anchor'], ['Image','Table','HorizontalRule','SpecialChar'] ] }); CKFinder.SetupCKEditor( editor, "<?php print url::base(); ?>assets/ckfinder" ); </script> UPDATE: I suppose the most ideal solution would be to preserve the contents of any tag that contains class="preserve" enabling much more than the limited exclusives.

  • How can I find "People's Contacts" folders via Outlook's object model?

    - by Dennis Palmer
    I have some code that locates all the contact folders that a user has access to by iterating through the Application.Session.Stores collection. This works for the user's contacts and also all the public contacts folders. It also finds all the contacts folders in additional mailbox accounts that the user has added via the Tools - Account Settings... menu command. However, this requires the user to have full access to the other person's account. When a user only has access to another person's contacts, then that person's contacts show up under the "People's Contacts" group in the Contacts view. How do I find those contact folders that don't show up under Session.Stores? In order to see the other user's contacts folder without adding access to their full mailbox, click File - Open - Other User's Folder... from the Outlook menu. In the dialog box, enter the other user's name and select Contacts from the Folder type drop down list. Here's the code (minus the error checking and logging) I'm using to find a list of all the user's Outlook contact folders. I know this can (and maybe should) be done using early binding to the Outlook.Application type, but that doesn't affect the results. EnumerateFolders is recursive so that it searches all sub folders. Dim folderList = New Dictionary(Of String, String) Dim outlookApp = CreateObject(Class:="Outlook.Application") For Each store As Object In outlookApp.Session.Stores EnumerateFolders(folderList, store.GetRootFolder) Next Private Sub EnumerateFolders(ByRef folderList As Dictionary(Of String, String), ByVal folder As Object) Try If folder.DefaultItemType = 2 Then folderList.Add(folder.EntryID, folder.FolderPath.Substring(2)) End If For Each subFolder As Object In folder.Folders EnumerateFolders(folderList, subFolder) Next Catch ex As Exception End Try End Sub

  • Registry remotley hacked win 7 need help tracking the perp

    - by user577229
    I was writing some .VBS code at thhe office that would allow certain file extensions to be downloaded without a warning dialog on a w7x32 system. The system I was writing this on is in a lab on a segmented subnet. All web access is via a proxy server. The only means of accessing my machine is via the internet or from within the labs MSFT AD domain. While writing and testing my code I found a message of sorts. Upon refresing the registry to verify my code changed a dword, instead the message HELLO was written and visible in regedit where the dword value wass called for. I took a screen shot and proceeded to edit my code. This same weird behavior occurred last time I was writing registry code except on another internal server. I understand that remote registry access exists for windows systems. I will block this immediately once I return to the office. What I want to know is, can I trace who made this connection? How would I do this? I suspect the cause of this is the cause of other "odd" behaviors I'm experiencing at work such as losing control of my input director master control for over an hour and unchanged code that all of a sudden fails for no logical region. These failures occur at funny times, whenver I'm about to give a demonstration of my test code. I know this sounds crazy however knowledge of the registry component makes this believable. Once the registry can be accessed, the entire system is compromised. Any help or sanity checking is appreciated.

  • Establishing persistent connection to a database in Java

    - by gmile
    I've ran through several examples over the web, and found that every single time I need something from the DB, I should write the following code: try { // Step 1: Load the JDBC driver. Class.forName("mysql_driver_name"); // Step 2: Establish the connection to the database. String url = "jdbc:string_to_mysql_server"; Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"user1","password"); // fetch from the DB ... } catch (Exception e) { System.err.println("Got an exception! "); System.err.println(e.getMessage()); } It's very annoying to put up this code every time I want something from the DB, so the question is - is there a way to only once connect entirely all my app to the DB somehow at the very start point, avoiding copy-pasting mentioned code, and then be able to do everything I want with DB? I've quickly looked through NetBeans's Project menu, but didn't find any clue on how to configurate a persistent connection to a selected DB. If it's important, i'm writing a purely desktop app, i.e. using Java EE. Also, it's worth mentioning that I'm a kinda beginner in Java.

  • Appropriate wx.Sizer(s) for the job?

    - by MetaHyperBolic
    I have a space in which I would like certain elements (represented here by A, B, D, and G) to each be in its own "corner" of the design. The corners ought to line up as if each of the four elements was repelling the other; a rectangle. This is to be contained within an unresizable panel. I will have several similar panels and want to keep the location of the elements as identical as possible. (I needed something a little more complex than a wx.Wizard, but with the same general idea.) AAAAAAAAAA BB CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC DDD EEE FFF GGG A represents a text in a large font. B represents a numeric progress meter (e.g. "1 of 7") in a small font. C represents a large block of text. D, E, F, and G are buttons. The G button is separated from others for functionality. I have attempted nested wx.BoxSizers (horizontal boxes inside of one vertical box) without luck. My first problem with wx.BoxSizer is that the .SetMinSize on my last row has not been honored. The second problem is that I have no idea how to make the G button "take up space" without growing comically large, or how I can jam it up against the right edge and bottom edge. I have tried to use a wx.GridBagSizer, but ran into entirely different issues. After plowing through the various online tutorials and wxPython in Action, I'm a little frustrated. The relevant forums appear to see activity once every two weeks. "Playing around with it" has gotten me nowhere; I feel as if I am trying to smooth out a hump in ill-laid carpet.

I'm not sure where this command needs to go and how to reference the cell to update the value in the database.

    I am working on a custom interface for the JW Player which displays the current track title and has play/pause, next track, previous track and volume toggle buttons. It works for IE8/9 and FF but fails for Chrome and Safari. Chrome's console gives the following error: Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method 'addControllerListener' This is the code I am using for testing. <div id="container">Loading the player ...</div> <script type="text/javascript"> jwplayer("container").setup({ image: "preview.jpg", height: 320, width: 480, modes: [ { type: "html5" }, { type: "flash", src: "player.swf" } ], 'playlist': [ { 'file': "audio/01.mp3", 'title': "Track 1" }, { 'file': "audio/02.mp3", 'title': "Track 2" }, { 'file': "audio/03.mp3", 'title': "Track 3" } ], }); function playerReady(obj) { player = document.getElementById(obj.id); displayFirstItem(); }; function displayFirstItem() { try { playlist = player.getPlaylist(); } catch(e) { setTimeout("displayFirstItem()", 100); } player.addControllerListener('ITEM', 'itemMonitor'); itemMonitor({index:0}); }; function itemMonitor(obj) { $('#nowplaying').html('<span><strong>Now Playing:</strong> ' + playlist[obj.index]['title'] + '</span>'); }; </script> <div id="nowplaying"></div> <div class="control_bar"> <ul> <li onclick='player.sendEvent("play");'>[ &#8250; ] Play / Pause</li> <li onclick='player.sendEvent("prev");'>[ &laquo; ] Previous item</li> <li onclick='player.sendEvent("next");'>[ &raquo; ] Next item</li> </ul> </div> I have searched and tried several modifications, like adding the javascriptid parameter, nothing seems to work for Chrome or Safari. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Java InputReader. Detect if file being read is binary?

    - by Trizicus
    I had posted a question in regards to this code. I found that JTextArea does not support the binary type data that is loaded. So my new question is how can I go about detecting the 'bad' file and canceling the file I/O and telling the user that they need to select a new file? class Open extends SwingWorker<Void, String> { File file; JTextArea jta; Open(File file, JTextArea jta) { this.file = file; this.jta = jta; } @Override protected Void doInBackground() throws Exception { BufferedReader br = null; try { br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file)); String line = br.readLine(); while(line != null) { publish(line); line = br.readLine(); } } finally { try { br.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } } return null; } @Override protected void process(List<String> chunks) { for(String s : chunks) jta.append(s + "\n"); } }

  • Flash External Interface issue with Firefox

    - by majestiq
    I am having a hard time getting ExternalInterface to work on Firefox. I am trying to call a AS3 function from javascript. The SWF is setup with the right callbacks and it is working in IE. I am using AC_RunActiveContent.js to embed the swf into my page. However, I have modified it to add an ID to the Object / Embed Tags. Below are object and embed tag that are generated for IE and for Firefox respectively. <object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="400" height="400" align="middle" id="jpeg_encoder2" name="jpeg_encoder3" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" > <param name="movie" value="/jpeg_encoder/jpeg_encoder3.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="play" value="true" /> <param name="loop" value="true" /> <param name="scale" value="showall" /> <param name="wmode" value="window" /> <param name="devicefont" value="false" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <param name="menu" value="false" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> </object> <embed width="400" height="400" src="/jpeg_encoder/jpeg_encoder3.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="middle" play="true" loop="true" scale="showall" wmode="window" devicefont="false" id="jpeg_encoder2" bgcolor="#ffffff" name="jpeg_encoder3" menu="false" allowFullScreen="false" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" > </embed> I am calling the function like this... <script> try { document.getElementById('jpeg_encoder2').processImage(z); } catch (e) { alert(e.message); } </script> In Firefox, I get an error saying "document.getElementById("jpeg_encoder2").processImage is not a function" Any Ideas?

  • JDO difficulties in retrieving persistent vector

    - by Michael Omer
    I know there are already some posts regarding this subject, but although I tried using them as a reference, I am still stuck. I have a persistent class as follows: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class GameObject implements IMySerializable{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) protected Key m_databaseKey; @NotPersistent private final static int END_GAME_VAR = -1000; @Persistent(defaultFetchGroup = "true") protected GameObjectSet m_set; @Persistent protected int m_databaseType = IDatabaseAccess.TYPE_NONE; where GameObjectSet is: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) @FetchGroup(name = "mySet", members = {@Persistent(name = "m_set")}) public class GameObjectSet { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key id; @Persistent private Vector<GameObjectSetPair> m_set; and GameObjectSetPair is: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class GameObjectSetPair { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key id; @Persistent private String key; @Persistent(defaultFetchGroup = "true") private GameObjectVar value; When I try to fetch the entire structure by fetching the GameObject, the set doesn't have any elements (they are all null) I tried adding the fetching group to the PM, but to no avail. This is my fetching code Vector<GameObject> ret = new Vector<GameObject>(); PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); pm.getFetchPlan().setMaxFetchDepth(-1); pm.getFetchPlan().addGroup("mySet"); Query myQuery = pm.newQuery(GameObject.class); myQuery.setFilter("m_databaseType == objectType"); myQuery.declareParameters("int objectType"); try { List<GameObject> res = (List<GameObject>)myQuery.execute(objectType); ret = new Vector<GameObject>(res); for (int i = 0; i < ret.size(); i++) { ret.elementAt(i).getSet(); ret.elementAt(i).getSet().touchSet(); } } catch (Exception e) { } finally { pm.close(); } Does anyone have any idea? Thanks Mike

  • Python socket error on UDP data receive. (10054)

    - by Charles
    I currently have a problem using UDP and Python socket module. We have a server and clients. The problem occurs when we send data to a user. It's possible that user may have closed their connection to the server through a client crash, disconnect by ISP, or some other improper method. As such, it is possible to send data to a closed socket. Of course with UDP you can't tell if the data really reached or if it's closed, as it doesn't care (atleast, it doesn't bring up an exception). However, if you send data and it is closed off, you get data back somehow (???), which ends up giving you a socket error on sock.recvfrom. [Errno 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. Almost seems like an automatic response from the connection. Although this is fine, and can be handled by a try: except: block (even if it lowers performance of the server a little bit). The problem is, I can't tell who this is coming from or what socket is closed. Is there anyway to find out 'who' (ip, socket #) sent this? It would be great as I could instantly just disconnect them and remove them from the data. Any suggestions? Thanks.
