I'm beginning to ask myself: Why the Java VM? What makes it so powerful or popular that there are new programming languages, which seem gaining popularity too, created for it? Why don't they write a new VM for a new language?

    I want to have an HTML form embedded in another form like so: <form id="form1"> <input name="val1"/> <form id="form2"> <input name="val2"/> <input type="button" name="Submit Form 2 ONLY"> </form> <input type="button" name="Submit Form 1 data including form 2"> </form> I need to submit the entirety of form1, but when I submit form2 I only want to submit the data in form2 (not everything in form1.)     Are there any snippets to make emacs use the .vim syntax files found in /usr/share/vim/vimfiles/ for coloring text. Many applications like conky have the vim syntax files like "conkyrc.vim" for vim but not for emacs. So is there an easy way to use those files rather than rewriting a new language-mode for each of those available in vimfiles directory.

  • Copy one column over another in a delimited file

    For instance, I needed to remove column 25 and replace it with a copy of column 22 in a simple csv file with no embedded delimiters. The best I could come up with was the awkward looking: awk -F, '{ for(x=1;x<25;x++){printf("%s,", $x)};printf("%s,",$22);for(x=26;x<59;x++){printf ("%s,", $x)};print $59}' I would expect something like cut -d, -f1-24,23,26-59 to work but cut doesn't seem to want to print the same column two times... Is there a more elegant way to do it using anything typicaly available in a linux shell environment?

    So in my source file I have the folowin function: void update(state* old_state, state* measurement, uint32_t size) { state new_state[size]; //some function using measurement and old_state and returning the result in newstate arm_fadd_32(measurement,old_state,newstate,size); // rest of the code } Now the compiler throws an error saying that error#28:expression must have a constant value. I think it's due to the fact that even though inside the method the size local variable is not changing the compiler is expecting a constant while defining the size. I have tried the following: int const a = size; and then tried to reinitialize it says constant value is not known. I did some research in internet and it appears that there is no easier way without using malloc, which I don't want to since I am using the code for some embedded application. Is there a way to avoid this problem without really using malloc? Thanks in advance guys!

  • Why isn't a JS file hosted on Amazon S3 getting cached by the browser?

    I have a JS file hosted on Amazon S3 (http://s3.amazonaws.com/wingify/vis_opt.js). I want the file to be cached on users' browsers so that they don't have to download it with every page view. However, in spite of setting Cache Control header I don't think it is getting cached. Browser still contacts Amazon Server with every pageview. Here is the example of page where this script is embedded: http://myjugaad.in/ If you have Firebug, you will be able to see that browser requests it with every pageview. What can I do so that the file gets permanently cached? Thanks for help.
