private static void printIterable(Iterable iterable) {
// ERROR: "Type mismatch: cannot convert from element type Object to Iterable"
for (Iterable i : iterable) {
System.out.println(i);
}
}
What the compiler is talking about? Its an Iterable, not an Object.
I am using the following:
java.awt.Container.add(Component comp, Object constraints)
How do I specificy the constraints object? I need to be able to place a component within the container.
Oh and my class extends JInternalFrame if this helps...
I need to specify coordinates to place the component within the container
This object always uses the default on the system, so on an x64 machine, it will use an x64 Internet Explorer object.
Is there any way I can force it to use the x86 IE? The web page element the browser accesses does not work on x64 and is out of my control.
Hi,
I was using Sonar to make my code cleaner, and it pointed that I'm using new Integer(1) instead of Integer.valueOf(1). Because it seems that valueOf does not instantiate a new object so is more memory-friendly. How can valueOf not instantiate a new object ? How does it work ? Is this true for all integers ?
thanks.
What is the best practice for when to implement IDisposeable?
Is the best rule of thumb to implement it if you have one managed object in the class, or does it depend if the object was created in the class or just passed in? Should I also do it for classes with no managed objects at all?
Hi, I have a web application where I would like to pull user settings from a database and store them for Global access. Would it make more sense to store the data in a Singleton, or a Session object? What's the difference between the two?
Is it better to store the data as an object reference or break it up into value type objects (ints and strings)?
Thanks!
function check_login($array_val)
{
$strQury = "Select * from tblsignup where usr_email ='".$array_val[0]."' and usr_password = '".$array_val[1]."'" ;
$result = mysql_query($strQury);
$row_user = mysql_fetch_array($result);
if(mysql_num_rows($result)>0)
{
$msg = "true";
}
else
{
$msg = "false";
}
return $msg ;
}
The return value is Object id #1true???? what is object id#1?
class a(object):

thanks

I'm working on a project where I need to add some functionality to a service object and using a decorator to add it in seems like a good fit. However, I've only ever used decorators with simple beans, never on a singleton like a service object. Has anyone ever done this before and what are the pros and cons? In this case I don't think creating a subclass will work so a decorator seems to be a good fit. What are your thoughts on doing this?
As from subject, I have an awt.List object. When I add something to the list I would like to scroll it down to show the last inserted object.
For instance:
myList.add("sometext");
myList.select(myList.getItemCount()-1);
myList.showSelectedItem(); // Or something like that
The documentation does not seem to list any method that does something like that, can anybody help please?
I have a string which is ultimately the id of a CheckBox.
What I need to be able to do is to access the CheckBox's properties from the string
var myCheckBox:Object;
var myString:String;
myString = "checkbox_1"
myCheckBox = Object(myString); ?!?!
... and then I'd need to get to myCheckBox.selected, and myCheckBox.label etc
Ques: Which method will be called and y?
public class Test {
public void method(Object o){
System.out.println("object");
}
public void method(String s) {
System.out.println("String");
}
public void method() {
System.out.println("blank");
}
/**
* @param args
*/
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Test test=new Test();
test.method(null);
}
}

I have a domain object called page that only has a title, I then have subclasses what are StaticPage that also has a textblock and PicturePage that contains a url. I have a site object that has many pages, I am looking for a way in the view for the site to call the a different template for each subclass. I can easily iterate through the pages but I would like to call each subclasses own view.
//always works, returning a valid object into _page
_page = _httpContext.Handler as System.Web.UI.Page;
//Fails throwing the exception : Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.DefaultHttpHandler' to type 'System.Web.UI.Page'
_page = (System.Web.UI.Page)_httpContext.Handler;
I would like to know why this happens?
If I have an object of type MyBull and a List<MyBull>:
// Just an example
MyBull x = getMeTheObjectWithIdFromDB(9);
orig.add(x);
// Again same? data object
MyBull y = getMeTheObjectWithIdFromDB(9);
Why is this false then?
// This is false, even though all the properties
// of x and y are the same.
orig.Contains<MyBull>(y);
While moving from php to rails (Means procedural language to Object oriented language), what are the various things you should keep in mind.
How to think in world of object oriented programming?
What are thinks i should kept in mind before starting the things. Any tips?
does the Destructor deallocate memory assigned to the object which it belongs to or is it just called so that it can perform some last minute housekeeping before the object os deallocated by the compiler?
I have defined an object in 3D space with position, rotation and scale values (all defined as 3D vectors). It also has upwards and forwards direction vectors. When I rotate the object, I need these direction vectors to rotate with it.
Assuming my up vector is (0, 1, 0) and my forwards vector is (0, 0, 1) at zero rotation, how might I achieve this?
I want to have a class named ProjectDirectory and a class named MetaDirectory. Each project has a MetaDirectory which contains some meta data. Is it the good way to write the classes like this:
class ProjectDirectory(object):
def __init__(self, directory=None):
self.directory = directory
self.meta_directory = MetaDirectory(self)
def __repr__(self):
return self.directory
class MetaDirectory(object):
def __init__(self, project_directory=None):
self.project_directory = project_directory
self.directory = "%s/.meta/" % project_directory
ProjectDirectory has a reference to MetaDirectory and MetaDirectory has a reference to ProjectDirectory.
Is there an other solution or this solution is good ?
Lets say I have
class Person
{
public Person(int age, string name)
{
Age = age;
Name = name;
}
public int Age{get;set}
public string Name{get;set}
}
and I would like to create a method that accepts a string that contains either
"age" or "name" and returns an object with the value of that property.
Like the following pseudo code:
public object GetVal(string propName)
{
return <propName>.value;
}
How can I do this using reflection?
I am coding using asp.net 3.5, c# 3.5
In an interview the interviewer asked me the following question: is it possible to serialize a singleton object? I said yes, but in which scenario should we serialize a singleton?
And is it possible to design a class whose object can not be serialized?
What is the best approach to creating a simple multithread safe logging class? Is something like this sufficient?
public class Logging
{
public Logging()
{
}
public void WriteToLog(string message)
{
object locker = new object();
lock(locker)
{
StreamWriter SW;
SW=File.AppendText("Data\\Log.txt");
SW.WriteLine(message);
SW.Close();
}
}
}
var array1:Array = new Array();
var array2:Array = new Array();
var obj1:Object = new Object();
array1.push(obj1);
array2.push(obj1);
if i change something in obj1 will array1[0] and array2[0] also change?
