  • WWW::Mechanize for Objective C / iPhone?

    Hi, I want to port a python app that uses mechanize for the iPhone. This app needs to login to a webpage and using the site cookie to go to other pages on that site to get some data. With my python app I was using mechanize for automatic cookie management. Is there something similar for Objective C that is portable to the iPhone? Thanks for any help.

  • SIGABRT error when running on iPad

    Hello, all. I've been banging my head for a few hours because of this problem. I have a universal project that's a mix of iPhone and iPad projects. I put these codebases together into the universal project and, after a lot of "#if __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED >= 30200" checks, got the project to run in both the iPhone (OS 3.0 to 3.1.3) and iPad simulators. After doing a more finagling with the project settings of external libraries that I load, I got the app to load on an iPhone (which runs OS 3.1.3). However, when I run the app on my iPad, I get an immediate SIGABRT error. I've tried running it under Debug, under Release, with Active Architecture of both armv6 and armv7. I've checked and double-checked that the app has the right nib files set up (but, again, this app runs fine in the simulator). I've gone through the external libraries I'm using and set them up to have the same base SDK (3.2), same architectures (Optimized (armv6 armv7)), the same targeted device family (iPhone/iPad), and the same iPhone OS deployment target (iPhone OS 3.0). So, to summarize... I have a universal app that works in the simulator for iPhone and iPad, runs on an actual iPhone, but doesn't run on an iPad. It doesn't get far on the iPad -- there's an immediate SIGABRT error that stops execution. Help??

  • Heroku and Github integration (how to structure the project)

    I'm creating a webservice and I want to store the source on github and run the app on heroku. I haven't seen my exact scenario addressed anywhere on the 'net so far, so I'll ask it here: I want to have the following directory structure: /project .git README <-- project readme file TODO.otl <-- project outline ... <-- other project-related stuff /my_rails_app app config ... README <-- rails' readme file In the above, project corresponds to http://github.com/myuser/project, and my_rails_app is the code that should be pushed to heroku. Do I need a separate branch for the rails app, or is there a simpler way that I'm missing? I guess my project-related non-rails files could live in my_rails_app, but the rails README already lives there and it seems inconsistent to overwrite that. However, if I leave it, my github page for the rails app will contain the rails readme, which makes no sense. Thanks, Noah P.S. I tried just setting it up as described above and running git push heroku from the main project folder. Of course, heroku doesn't know I want to deploy the subfolder: -----> Heroku receiving push ! Heroku push rejected, no Rails or Rack app detected.

  • SPWeb ProcessBatchData

    Hi all: I'm currently using SPWeb's ProcessBatchData to update a lot of list items/folders into Sharepoint database. For example, in one batch update I have ~1200 objects to update. I also run it numerous times during different phases in my app. I found that it is generally faster and more efficient in updating large amount of items. But lately the performance of the app has decreased as more processes get added to the app (and also more batch updates). I was wondering whether the ProcessBatchData would be a suspect in slowing down the app? E.g. temporarily locking up db, draining resources, lagging network, etc. Thanks.

    Hi, I'm trying to integrate ads (admob) into my Android app. It's mostly working, except for one issue with the layout. However, they seem to be overlayed or drawn on top of the bottom portion of the grid view. I would like the gridview to be shorter, so that the ad can fill the bottom portion of the screen, and not hide part of the gridview. The problem is most annoying when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the gridview, and you still cannot fully see the last row items in the grid due to the ad. I'm not sure if this is the standard way that AdMob ads work. If this is the case, adding some padding to the bottom of the grid (if that's possible) would due the trick. That way the user can scroll a bit further, and see the last row in addition to the ad. I just switched from using LinearLayout to RelativeLayout after reading some similar issues with ListViews. Now my ad is along the bottom instead of above the grid, so I'm getting closer. Thoughts? -Kevin

  • unrecognized selector sent to instance on deviceOrientationDidChange

    Right now my app should only supports Portrait. On Summary/Supported Device Orientations I have only selected Portrait so I'm hoping that my app will not rotate. I was testing the app on a device and suddenly I'm getting the following error randomly: [UIButtonContent deviceOrientationDidChange:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance It happens when I rotate the device SOMETIMES, is not consistent, and is not always over UIBUttonContent. I supposed that if I only select Portrait, deviceOrientationDidChange should not be called or should be ignored. Other times my app crashes with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=something) but it happens when I rotate the device so I'm guessing that both errors are related. I don't know what to do with this, it's hard to debug because I don't have feedback, the All Exceptions Breakpoint is not being called, so I don't know where and exactly why this is happening. Any idea on how to debug this is welcome.

    I am using this code in the DetailView.m of a splitview app. Now the orientation changes occur only when the device is rotated. The detection does not take place when the app is launched. I also get this warning warning: 'RootViewController' may not respond to '-adjustViewsForOrientation:' What change do I need to make the app adjust the orientation code when the app is launched.   • Bazaar newbie question about repository structures

    I want to use Bazaar on Windows XP for web-development and related tasks. Most of the files are edited locally and then transferred via FTP to the server. Just now the repository sits on my local workstation. Later on it should be shared locally with some co-workers. Perhaps we will use a local Linux server as a centralized repository, but this structure is not decided for now. But first I need to understand the impacts of the different repository setups, which I do not at all. Using Bazaar-Explorer on Windows XP I’ve created a ‘shared tree repository’ from the option list of the init-dialogue in some location dev-filter/. Bazaar Explorer tells me: Created repository with treeless branches at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter Created branch at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter/trunk Created working tree at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter/work OK so far. Now I move a bunch of files into the work directory and add and commit them as Rev 1 ‘Start Revision’. Then I work on some of these files and commit them again as Rev 2. Here my confusion starts. Shouldn’t both revisions go into the trunk? The trunk is still empty, beside the .bzr directory which only holds some management information. If I delete my working directory, which I have tried during these first experiments, everything is gone. There’s obviously no hidden storage of those files. OK. Perhaps I need to push it into the trunk? This does not work either. Entering the work/ directory and initializing the ‘push’ to the trunk, Bazaar-Explorer tells me No new revisions to push. So what? This looks like a severe conceptual misunderstanding about what should happen on my side. Edit, 2010-02-03: Some conclusions What I learned meanwhile is this: I think I should switch to the command line until I really understand what’s going on, at least for creating the repositories and branches. Bazaar Explorer introduces a new level of abstraction which I only can handle if I understand the level beneath One of the secrets of working with Bazaar at least for me is to understand those .bzr directories, their particular properties and states when created with ‘bzr init’, ‘bzr init-repository’, ‘bzr branch’ etc. in all their variants and how they are plumped together. While there’s a whole chapter of ‘Organizing your workspace’ in the Bazaar User Guide, it’s more or less workflow oriented. The manual contains a lot of directory structures for the given examples. What I would prefer beside this and have not (or only rudimentary) found so far is some graphical representation of those ‘Lego like’ .bzr building blocks which create the linking of all the parts. So I started to invent some simple notation while working through the examples and looking into the .bzr directories to document what information is stored there, where does it come from, how and to what is it linked, is it complete or shared, etc. Erich Schreiber

  • Linux - Only first virtual interface can ping external gateway

    I created 3 virtual interfaces with different mac addresses all linked to the same physical interface. I see that they successfully arp for the gw and they can ping (the request is coming in the packet capture in wireshark). However the ping utility does not count the responses. Does anyone knows the issue? If the history has changed then the view updates. ** MVP with history change (Works well)** Current URL is /list User clicks on contactdelete button. Fire DeleteContactAction event. App controller catches, change history to 'delete' onValueChange is called if (token.equals("delete")) delete contact screen, then delete contact Fire ContactDeletedEvent app controller catches and change the history to list onValueChange is called: contact list refreshes GWT MVP pattern for dialog box w/o history changes ** Issue ** - I use a dialog box and I don't want to change the browser history, so here is the problem: Current URL is /list User clicks on contactdelete button. Contact is deleted Fire ContactDeletedEvent. App controller catches, change history to 'list' **onValueChange is NOT called** because url is already /list and there is no change # problem: contact list does not refresh Question: does anyone know a pattern to implement this in the context of MVP?     I've had a few questions about MEF recently, but here's the big one -- is it really all-or-nothing, as it appears to be? My basic application structure is simply an app, several shared libraries that are intended to be singletons, and several different plugins (which may implement different interfaces). The app loads the plugins, and both the app and all plugins need to access the shared libraries. My first go at MEF was fairly successful, although I made some stupid mistakes along the way because I was trying so many different things, I just got confused at times. But in the end, last night I got my smallish test app running with MEF, some shared libraries, and one plugin. Now I'm moving onto the target app, which I already described. And it's the multiple plugins part that has be a bit worried. My existing application already supports multiple plugins with different interfaces by using Reflection. I need to be able to uniquely identify each plugin so that the user can select one and get the expected behavior exposed by that plugin. The problem is that I don't know how to do this yet... but that's the topic of a different question. Ideally, I'd be able to take my existing plugin loader and use it as-is, while relying on MEF to do the shared library resolution. The problem is, I can't seem to get MEF to load them (i.e. I get a CompositionException when calling ComposeParts()) unless I also use MEF to load the plugin. And if I do this, well... then I need to know how to keep track of them as they get loaded so the user can select one from a list of plugins. What have your experiences been with trying to mix and match these approaches?

    I had an application that hooked onto 1 single database. The app now needs to hook into multiple databases. What we want to do is, using the same application/domain/hostname/virtual dir give the user the option on the login screen to select the "App/Database" they want to connect into. Each database has the App tables/data/procs/etc as well as the aspnet membership/roles stuff. When the user enters the username/password and selects (select list) the application, I want to validate the user against the selected applications database. Presently the database connection string for membership services is saved in the web.config. Is there any way I can override this at login time? Also, I need the "remember me" function to work smoothly as well. How does this work when the user comes back to the app in 5 hours... This process should be able to identify the user and application and log in appropriately.

    My iPhone app is crashing for certain users in UK. I tried using UK timezone and their region format but couldn't reproduce the crash on my iPhone or emulator. Eventually got a crash report and I was able to symbolicate it. However, I have a hard time understanding the results. It appears thread 0 crashed in a system library. The only call from my app is main.m. Thread 4 has something familiar.   • Unable to open database SQLITE iPhone

    Hi there, I am using SQLITE database in my iPhone app. I have a refresh button on my home screen and on click of that refresh button I usually fetch the data from my web service and store it into my database. In normal scenario it works fine but when I click my refresh button 4-5 times frequently my app crashes and My app log Shows "Unable to open the database" I am not sure why I am getting this SQLLITE error. Is there any restriction on inserting number of rows in SQLITE database?
