  • How do I get a preference to correlate to a variable?

    I have my menu button bringing up a Settings option, which brings up numerous ListPreferences such as weight and various sizes for glasses (it's a BAC calculator app). I'll pick one example... weight will work. Depending on how much you weigh it will affect your BAC. I have a int for Weight, set at 180. I would like someone to be able to go into the menu Settings, pick the "Weight" ListPreference, and choose between 100, 130, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, and 300. I already have the numbers show up (all of the arrays have been created) and I can choose one, but it doesn't do anything because it's not linked up with the int Weight variable. How do I go about linking the information?

  • How to change ScrollView's position after touch?

    I'm trying to make a ScrollView with a list of numbers in it that the user can select from. After the user touches and scrolls, after the finger is lifted I want the scroll to "snap" to the item in the middle of the ScrollView and give me the output. My ScrollView contains a vertical linear layout with TextView objects in it. The ScrollView's vertical size is about 60sp. I think this would involve the ScrollView.onTouch with a ACTION_UP, but I don't know how to use it. Also, is there a way to get an item's index or value based on a position in the list? Thanks!

It is possible to define an own view to show inside the spinner row? I would suspect it being similar to a custom List row. I simply want to show an individual icon left from the spinner text for each item in the list.

After start project I send intend from first activity and I do not receive in the second :(. How I can receive sent event in second activity? Thank you...

  • Bitmap Crashing upon going back and re-entering Activity

    Hello, I'm not sure what is causing this...I have two Activities, first has a button that goes to the second. The second creates a Bitmap object, assigns it a picture from the sdcard and loads it into an ImageView. Problem is when I go into the second Activity, then press the back button, and then go back into the second Activity, it crashes. I have no clue why. I did an extensive google search but to no avail. I can post the source code if you want. Please let me know. Thanks in advance! I got this from the LogCat: "E/dalvikvm( 4869): Unable to open stack trace file '/data/anr/traces.txt': Permission denied" I'm not sure how to get the stack trace.

    I'm trying to bind a jar library (jCIFS) on MFA, but i'm stuck on some errors, like this one: 'Jcifs.Util.MD4' does not implement inherited abstract member 'Java.Security.MessageDigestSpi.EngineDigest() After some research, i found some topics about this, telling to edit the metadata to change the permissions of the classes, like this: <attr path="/api/package[@name='java.security']/class[@name='MessageDigestSpi']/method[@name='engineDigest']" name="visibility">public</attr> But the error didn't change, and a still won't get what this error means.     Hi,I have been stuck on this issue for quite some time now.Have read the documentation and many tutorials and they just confuse me more.I hope someone will provide me a straightforward answer.It's really important.Thank you.. Ok ..so i want an activity to get some input from the user as and then send that string to a service.Then i want my service to run in a way so that i can use other applications while this one keeps running in the background.Also i don't want the service to keep running every second.What i want is for the service to get updated location of my current position every 10 minutes so i was thinkin if there could be a way to make my service to go to sleep n wake up evry 10 mins n check for updates.I don't want to show the update on the UI so i dont think i need to use an AIDL approach and also dont need to bind to the service.I js simply want to start the service as soon as the user enters the string and keep the service runing every 10 mins.I think it is really simple but m very confused.Please help.

I am getting considerable performance issues associated with my drawing, even if I draw almost nothing. I noticed the below method. I want to count the number of times b element is present (its variable) And i want this count before parsing, so that I can declare an array of appropriate size. One way is to run count then separately and other way is dynamic array (List Array) Is there any other better way to do this? Also, Is it possible to make an ArrayList of my class..? because I want an array of type myClass.

    I'm building some sort of wizard to create user accounts in Sync and Manage account. I use a ViewFlipper my activity has to be an AccountAuthenticatorActivity. That said it also means I can't inherit PreferenceActivity. So I looked up in the code of PreferenceActivity and I believe it should be possible to have a PreferenceView that inherit from ListView. The Activity part of PreferenceActivity isn't really needed as far as I know. Though the PreferenceManager is what really blocks me. private PreferenceManager onCreatePreferenceManager() { PreferenceManager preferenceManager = new PreferenceManager(this, FIRST_REQUEST_CODE); preferenceManager.setOnPreferenceTreeClickListener(this); return preferenceManager; } This function imply that we can instatiate PreferenceManager using the operator new. Apparently, the sdk hide the constructor of the PreferenceManager. I'm kind of confused. Is there a way to inflate my preferences and display them without PreferenceActivity?

  • Refresh list of drawables in Eclipse?

    When I add drawable resources to my project they do not show up in the list of drawables in the Reference Chooser. I checked the R file and there are references for the files. I have tried refreshing the project, cleaning the project, and fixing project properties and nothing seems to help. Sometimes a couple will randomly show up in there, but not all of them. The only consistent way I can get them to show up is to restart Eclipse. Any ideas? Thanks

    I would like to create a SlidingDrawer, which has a handle like this: Until now i tought my solution was ok, which was: 1.) I created a 9 patch: As you can see, the center part is not strechable, only the two sides (and the height, if needed). On most of the phones i got the desired result, shown above. 2.) Put it in this layout (just pseudo-code): <SlidingDrawer (fullscreen)> <Button as handle (full width, backround the 9patch)/> <LinearLayout as content /> </SlidingDrawer> However, i tested the app on my friend's new Galaxy S3, and the result was something like this: The part, which should be centered, was completely off one side. And i have no idea, why and it bugs me since then. My Question: Is this the prefered way (9 patch with full width) to acomplish the look i want? If not, could someone suggest me a better solution?

  • Updating Activity UI from Different Activity Method?

    I have a tab widget where one of the tabs is a chat-type feature. I want to update the chat data at an interval (variable depending on whether the chat tab is active or not). The best approach seemed to be using an AsyncTask in my main TabActivity class, as that would avoid any issues of the chat activity being destroyed while in the background, while an AsyncTask was running. I wanted to ensure that the Activity isn't destroyed and recreated, thus causing my AsyncTask to be unable to modify the actual active Activity's data. However, now that my AsyncTask is in the TabActivity activity, I don't have a direct way to call my Chat's ListAdapter notifyDataSetChanged() from my onPostExecute() method anymore. Is there a way to get a reference to a given Tab's current Activity from the TabHost/TabActivity? Or, alternatively, can I assume my chat activity will never be destroyed as a child activity of the TabActivity activity (well, never destroyed while the TabActivity is active at least), and then just put the AsyncTask in the Chat Activity?
