  • Quickest and most efficient method to search top 3 numbers?

    I currently have an array of around 8 - 10 numbers that changes on a periodic basis. So around every 5 - 10 seconds the numbers get updated. I need to get the top 3 numbers in the array every 10 seconds. This is all done on a mobile device. At the minute I iterate through the array 3 times and each time I take out the three highest numbers and place them in three previously declared variables. My question is what should I look to do to increase speed and efficiency in this instance?

Unfortunately I can use findViewById() function to find the specific views (defined in my_layout.xml file) and customize them from code only after I called setContentView(R.layout.my_layout). But what if I want to customize my layout first, before calling setContentView()? How can I access the specific views before calling setContentView()?

  • Need help to solve sharedPreference probem

    I am working on this app where I have one EditText field where you can write somthing and then it get saved and added to a list(TextView). I save the content of the EditText in this way : saved += "*" + editTextFelt.getText().toString() + ". \n"; saved is a String. Everything works fine, I can even reload the app and it's still displayed in the TextView, but if i try to write somthing and save it everything that was there, now dissapear. anyone know why ? It's kind of confusing, and I have to get it to work! Thank's!!   • Passing enum or object through an intent (the best solution)

    I have an activity that when started needs access to two different ArrayLists. Both Lists are different Objects I have created myself. Basically I need a way to pass these objects to the activity from an Intent. I can use addExtras() but this requires a Parceable compatible class. I could make my classes to be passed serializable but as I understand this slows down the program. What are my options? Can I pass an Enum? As an an aside: is there a way to pass parameters to an Activity Constructor from an Intent?

    Is it possible to keep references to views keyed off of their hashCode? Something like: Map<Integer, View> views; views.put(view1.hashCode(), view1); views.put(view2.hashCode(), view2); views.put(viewN.hashCode(), viewN); I have a few in my view hierarchy and am downloading images for each.
