• Finding an HTTP proxy that will intercept static resource requests

  Background I develop a web application that lives on an embedded device. In order to make dev times sane, frontend development is done using apache serving static documents, with PHP proxying out to the embedded device for specifically configured dynamic resources. This requires that we keep various server-simulation scripts hanging around in source control, and it requires updating those scripts whenever we add a new dynamic resource. Problem I'd like to invert the logic: if the requested document is available in the static documents directory, serve it; otherwise, proxy the request to the embedded device. Optimally, I want a software package that will do this for me (for Windows or buildable on cygwin). I can deal with forcing apache to do it with PHP, but I'm unsure how to configure it to make it happen. I've looked at squid and privoxy, but neither of them seem to do what I want. Any ideas? I'd rather not have to roll my own.

• Safari javascript cookie issue

  I've hit a bit of a weird issue in Safari in regards to setting a js cookie. The cookie itself is just a rgb colour value, which gets set using .click(), and is working fine in Chrome and Firefox, yet in Safari the value of the cookie is incomplete, showing up as rgb(193 instead of rgb(193, 184, 76) as the other browsers do.   I have a page where I can insert some javascript / jquery to manipulate the output. I don't have any other control over the page markup etc. I need to add an extra element via jquery after each present on the page. The issue is that the elements are generated via an asynchronous call on the existing page which occurs after $(document).ready is complete. Essentially, I need a way of calling my jquery after the page has loaded and the subsequent ajax calls have completed. Is there a way to detect the completion of any ajax call on the page and then call my own custom function to insert the additional elements after the newly created s ?

  Chapter 3 of jQuery Novice to Ninja starts with a section about animating CSS properties, and its first example suggests the following code should expand padding and add a couple of borders to every paragraph in a page: $('document').ready(function() { $('p').animate({ padding: '20px', borderBottom: '3px solid #8f8f8f', borderRight: '3px solid #bfbfbf' }, 2000); }); However, while the code indeed works with the jQuery 1.4 library included in the downloadable examples archive for the book, it only animates padding when used alongside jQuery 1.6, forgetting the shorthand CSS properties for border-bottom and border-right altogether. What happened in the transition between 1.4 and 1.6, causing the removal of this functionality? Has it been placed in some plugin? Is it possible to run this code as it's written and get back the border animation? If not, how would you animate border properties using jQuery 1.6?

  Hello, according to the HTML Standards ID-Attributes of any HTML Tag in a webpage have to be unique in the document!? Does this rule also apply to HTML Tags that have been "disabled/hidden" by using: display:none?   So for this is what I've got: $(document).ready(function () { $("#div p").load("/update/temp.php"); function addOne() { var number = parseInt($("#div p").html()); return number + 1; } setInterval(function () { $("#div p").text(addOne()); }, 1000); setInterval(function () { $("#geupdate p").load("/update/temp.php");} ,10000); }); So this grabs a a UNIX timestamp from temp.php and puts into into #div p, and then adds 1 to it every second, and then every 10 seconds it will check the original file to keep it up to speed. My problem is that I need to format this UNIX timestamp into a format such as "1 day 3 hours 56 minutes and 3 seconds ago", while also doing all the incrementation and ajax calls. I'm not very experienced with jquery/javascript, so I might be missing something basic.

• AJAX CascadingDropdown - Setting the selected index

  I have a CascadingDropDown on an ASP.NET page. Now, the prompt text is "Select State". (list of states). However, on a different version of this page (ie querystring), i might want to set the selected index to "California" for example. How can i do this? The web service used by the ajax control (ie GetStates) gets invoked at the same time the jquery document.ready function is triggered (ie asynchronously). So when i try and set the selected index in jquery, the items are not yet bound. Is there a way to attach a handler to the ajax dropdown so that i can set the selected index once the webservice call has completed, and the items are bound?

  I am using the ps2pdf14 utility that ships with GhostScript, and I am having a problem with fonts. It does not seem to matter what instructions I pass to the command, it insists on subsetting any fonts it finds in the source document. e.g -dPDFSETTINGS#/prepress -dEmbedAllFonts#true -dSubsetFonts#false -dMaxSubsetPct#0 Note that the # is because the command is running on windows, it is the same as =. If anyone has any idea how to tell ps2pdf not to subset fonts, I would be very greatful. Thanks --------------------------Notes ------------------------------------------ The source file is a pdf containing embedded fonts, so it is the fonts already embedded in the source file, that I need to prevent being subset in the destination file. Currently all source file embedded fonts are subset, in some cases this is not apparent from the font name, i.e it contains no hash, and appears at first glance to be the full font, however the widths array has been subset in all cases.

Now for eg a link is "http://xyz.com/start/tyu/a.html" and another is "http://ert.com/tyu/b.html" while a third link is "http://asdf.com/ghjk/c.html" From the above 3 links (which I have with me using a for clause in a FLWOR expression)...I want only the links which contain within them a string "tyu" to be selected-- I thought of using substring for this, but substring requires start and end positions to be specified- whereas in my scenario, I dont know at which position the desired string will be. How do I do substring matching in such a scenario, i.e. where exact position for occurrence of substring, is not known? I can use XQuery 1.0 for this purpose. Finally, I want to extract the link URL, as well as link text...

But we need to be able to launch the youtube player by a means other than user tapping the video itself, for various reasons.
