  • What is/are the Scala way(s) to implement this Java "byte[] to Hex" class

    - by nicerobot
I'm specifically interested in Scala (2.8) techniques for building strings with formats as well as interesting ways to make such a capability easily accessible where it's useful (lists of bytes, String, ...?).. public class Hex { public static String valueOf (final byte buf[]) { if (null == buf) { return null; } final StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(buf.length * 2); for (final byte b : buf) { sb.append(String.format("%02X", b & 0xff)); } return sb.toString(); } public static String valueOf (final Byteable o) { return valueOf(o.toByteArray()); } } This is only a learning exercise (so the utility and implementation of the Java isn't a concern.) Thanks

  • class classname(value); & class classname=value; difference when constructor is explicit

    - by Mahesh
When constructor is explicit, it isn't used for implicit conversions. In the given snippet, constructor is marked as explicit. Then why in case foo obj1(10.25); it is working and in foo obj2=10.25; it isn't working ? #include <iostream> class foo { int x; public: explicit foo( int x ):x(x) {} }; int main() { foo obj(10.25); // Not an error. Why ? foo obj2 = 10.25; // Error getchar(); return 0; } error: error C2440: 'initializing' : cannot convert from 'double' to 'foo'

  • IE font size decrease does not cause select box height to decrease

    - by leaf dev
I have a font resize function on my page which increases the font size via javascript for the entire page. This works fine in most browsers except IE. When decreasing the font size after increasing it, the select boxes new height does not decrease, even though the font size is decreasing on it. Instead the smaller font appears to be padded with white space. Any ideas as to what IE is doing here, and a work around?

  • <span> containing 3 overlapping images has 3x the necessary width

    - by Nathan Parrish
Hi guys, I have a element, containing three overlapping images. Inspecting the element in Chrome shows this: <span id=?"span1">? <img id=?"img1" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" width=?"120" style=?"position:? relative;? z-index:? 3;?">? <img id=?"img2" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;?? position:? relative;? left:? -120px;? z-index:? 2;?">? <img id=?"img3" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;? position:? relative;? left:? -240px;? z-index:? 1;?">? </span>? The important point is that the second two images are given a relative position, shifting them to the left so they perfectly overlap the first. But the span itself is still 360 pixels wide (3 x 120 pixels per image). So how can I achieve this effect while keeping the span width tightly bounded around the images? Thanks!

  • jquery, position 'close icon' div in the top right of a large image

    - by Blankman
My webpage has a large image (a map). I want to position, at the top right of the image, a small icon that is for closing the map. How can I figure out the position and place the image appropriately? The image has a fixed width of 900 x 600. I have jquery on the page if that helps. I tried using $("#map").position and I have the top and left, but not sure how to position to the top right.

  • Firefox 17.0.1 ignoring font-weight

    - by jphogan
http://iamsinc.com/blog/new-producer-bonus/ For some reason Firefox 17.0.1 on my Windows 7 machine is ignoring the font-weight of the td elements. It should be normal. This works fine in Chrome, IE 7 8, & 9, but not in FF. I have also tested it on an XP machine running 17.0.1 and it works fine. The font-weight should be normal, not bold. In the second box down ($300k level), the font-weight is showing up as bold on Win 7 FF 17.0.1 which pushes the pictures outside of the box. I have even tried reducing the font-weight waaay down and it has not effect on the problematic FF browser Does anybody have a solution or even a work-around? I hate to make the pictures all smaller just to work around this. Thanks!

  • Divs not aligning side by side

    - by Abijah
I've been learning about divs over the past few months, and am now able to align divs side by side. However, today I was working on my website, and my divs suddenly stopped lining up. The divs in question are: #dorsey_left, #dorsey_middle and #dorsey_right. When I remove #dorsey_left from the HTML document, #dorsey_middle and #dorsey_right align properly. I'm guessing that the problem is related to #dorsey_left, but I can't find anything in the code. This is the JsFiddle.

  • Fickle IE Issues with Height:100%'

    - by Mike R
    I am trying to set the height to 100% in the viewport for Internet Explorer. As you might imagine, the following code works everywhere else: * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } html, body { height: 100%; } body { font-family: Times New Roman, Times, serif; font-size: 13px; background-color:#E8E8E8; background:url(/images/background.png) repeat-x; } #wrap { margin:0 auto; width: 935px; /* Change to desired width :) */ min-height: 100%; background:url(/images/content.png)repeat-y; } #main { overflow: auto; padding-bottom: 112px; } /* must be same height as the footer */
