  • Copy one db diagram from one db to another on different servers? (Same db)

    I used the copy database wizard to copy my database from our test server to our production server, the database copied everything fine except for the diagram. Okay no problem, first I make sure the target database on production has the support objects created to use database diagraming. Then I select to import data from the other database and chose the dbo.sysdiagrams.Go through with the rest of the import data wizard, but then I get the following error: Validating (Error) Messages Error 0xc0202049: Data Flow Task: Failure inserting into the read-only column "diagram_id". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) Error 0xc0202045: Data Flow Task: Column metadata validation failed. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) Error 0xc004706b: Data Flow Task: "component "Destination - sysdiagrams" (31)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) Error 0xc004700c: Data Flow Task: One or more component failed validation. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) Error 0xc0024107: Data Flow Task: There were errors during task validation. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) So apparently it didn't like that. What's the problem? I am pretty beginner in SQL Server and only do stuff via the GUI usually so am not sure what to do at this point. The databases are the same, but on different servers. Thanks!

  • How to clone MySQL DB? Errors with CREATE VIEW/SHOW VIEW privileges

    Running MySQL 5.0.32 on Debian 4.0 (Etch). I'm trying to clone a WordPress MySQL database completely (structure and data) on the same server. I tried doing a dump to a .sql file and an import into a new empty database from the command line, but the import fails with errors saying the user does not have the "SHOW VIEW" or "CREATE VIEW" privilege. Trying it with PHPMyAdmin doesn't work either. I also tried doing this with the MySQL root user (not named "root" though) and it shows an "Access Denied" error. I'm terribly confused as to where the problem is. Any pointers on cloning a MySQL DB and granting all privileges to a user account would be great (specifically for MySQL 5.0.32). The SHOW GRANTS command for the existing user works (the one who has privileges over the source database). It shows that the user has all privileges granted. I created a new user and database.     I have a technical question concerning subdomains. My installation is UBUNTU 12.04 and WEBMIN for administration (using Apache web server). I am trying to create a subdomain to one IP (the domain is www.ithemis.gr and I want to create test.ithemis.gr and/or test1.ithemis.gr) with no success. I think I've tried the right way to set subdomains. The address does not resolving (I have already created DNS records via BIND). Do you have any suggestions? I am very new in server administration.   • Is there a faster way to change default apps associated with file types on OS X?

    Is there anything more convenient than using RCDefaultApp or Magic Launch, or just repeatedly pressing the Change All buttons in Finder's information panels? I thought about writing a shell script that would modify the CFBundleDocumentTypes arrays in Info.plist files. But each app has multiple keys (sometimes an icon) that would need to be changed. lsregister can't be used to make specific modifications to the Launch Services database. $ `locate lsregister` -h lsregister: [OPTIONS] [ <path>... ] [ -apps <domain>[,domain]... ] [ -libs <domain>[,domain]... ] [ -all <domain>[,domain]... ] Paths are searched for applications to register with the Launch Service database.     I've got a Windows 2008 r2 server with Sql Server 2008 r2 installed. I've got a Sql Server Agent which tries to run a Powershell job, but fails :- Message Executed as user: FooServer\SqlServerUser. A job step received an error at line 1 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is '& '\\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1'' Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'File \\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1 cannot be loaded. The file \\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1 is not digitally signed. The script will not execute on the system. Please see "get-help about_signing" for more details.. '. Process Exit Code -1. The step failed. Ok. So i run Powershell on that server then set the execution policy to unrestricted. To check ..     Ok I have searched google for two days trying to get this to work. Here are the steps I have taken so far: Clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 Install mysql 5.1 as well as admin Comment out the bind address in the config file Create a new database Create a new user that is username@% to allow remote connections Grant all access to this user to the new database EXCEPT the grant option Login on the server is ok using this new user and database on the localhost Login on the server is ok using this new user and database on the server internal network ip Login from a remote computer is ok using this new user and database using the internal network ip Login is not working when logging in with this username and database using the external ip address from the server or the remote computer. I have port forwarding enabled for this port and it is viewable from outside as confirmed by canyouseeme.org I have nmap'd using the following command on the internal ip and get the below result: nmap -PN -p 3306 192.168.1.73 Starting Nmap 5.21 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2011-02-19 13:41 PST Nmap scan report for computername-System-Name (192.168.1.73) Host is up (0.00064s latency). The goal is: User clicks OpenID/Oauth provider OpenID/Oauth stuff happens, we end up with the result (already made that) Then we want to confirm that the user wants to actually create a new account (vs. associating account with another OpenID account). Not that I really care what these specific hashes are, but what it seems like is happening is they have processed the openid response and saved it to the DB in a temporary object or something, and from there they generate these keys, because they don't look like Oauth keys to me. Main situation is: after I have processed OpenID/Oauth responses, I don't yet want to create a new user/account until the user submits the "confirm" form. Should I store the keys and tokens temporarily in a "Confirm" form like this? Or is there a better way? It seems that using a temp database object would be a lot of work to manage properly.   • Full complete MySQL database replication? Ideas? What do people do?

    Currently I have two Linux servers running MySQL, one sitting on a rack right next to me under a 10 Mbit/s upload pipe (main server) and another some couple of miles away on a 3 Mbit/s upload pipe (mirror). I want to be able to replicate data on both servers continuously, but have run into several roadblocks. One of them being, under MySQL master/slave configurations, every now and then, some statements drop (!), meaning; some people logging on to the mirror URL don't see data that I know is on the main server and vice versa. Let's say this happens on a meaningful block of data once every month, so I can live with it and assume it's a "lost packet" issue (i.e., god knows, but we'll compensate). The other most important (and annoying) recurring issue is that, when for some reason we do a major upload or update (or reboot) on one end and have to sever the link, then LOAD DATA FROM MASTER doesn't work and I have to manually dump on one end and upload on the other, quite a task nowadays moving some .5 TB worth of data. Is there software for this? I know MySQL (the "corporation") offers this as a VERY expensive service (full database replication). I am just wondering what people out there do. The way it's structured, we run an automatic failover where if one server is not up, then the main URL just resolves to the other server.

    I created a SDF (SQL CE) database with Visual Studio 2008 (Add / New Item / Local Database). Is it possible to edit this database with SQL Server Management Studio? I tried to attach it but it only offered .mdf and attaching a .sdf file results in "failed to retrieve data for this request". If so, is it possible to create SDF files with Management Studio as well? Or are we stuck with the simple interface of the Visual Studio 2008 database manager?

What I have to do is drop all indexes on a set of databases to run a heavy data load process but then I want to re-enable all the indexes. I don't want to have to go through each table and script an index drop and then index create. Thanks!

  • Sql Server Compact 2005 on Visual Studio 2008

    I'm working on a Windows Forms application that interacts with a Sql Compact database file created by SQL Server 2005. This application was originally developed in Visual Studio 2005 but was recently converted to a Visual Studio 2008 solution. In regards to Sql Compact, we made sure the references were all still set to the assemblies that handle the 2005 version of Sql Compact rather than Sql Compact 3.5. Having done this, the application still runs just as it should - it will still interact with the Compact database, perform synchronization operations, etc. However, I just discovered today that Visual Studio tools such as the DataSet Designer do not play well with a Sql Compact database file of an older version than 3.5. If I go to the New Connection... wizard, the only Sql Compact Data Source / Data Provider are for Sql Compact 3.5. I assume that Visual Studio 2008 just doesn't include the data provider for the older version of Sql Compact by default. Is there a way you can add the old version of Sql Compact to the list of "Data Sources" for the connection wizard? To see exactly what I'm referring to, click on the Tools menu of Visual Studio 2008 and click Connect to Database... In the window that comes up, click Change... next to the Data source setting. From this dialog there is no way I can select the earlier version of Sql Compact - only 3.5 is available. Maybe I need to add an assembly reference somewhere? Or copy some file(s) from my Visual Studio 2005 directory over to 2008? I would think there would have to be a way for Visual Studio 2008 to be able to interact with a Sql Compact database from Sql Server 2005. To provide one more bit of detail, I discovered this problem when I went to my DataSet, right-clicked and tried to add a TableAdapter. The first screen that comes up says, "Choose Your Data Connection". If I leave it set to the Sql Compact connection that we've always used, I now get the following error when clicking the Next button: Failed to open a connection to the database "The selected database was created with an earlier version of SQL Server Compact and needs to be upgraded to SQL Server Compact 3.5 before the connection can be opened or tested. Upgrade the database by creating a new data connection and completing the Add Connection dialog box." Check the connection and try again. The only problem here is that we still use Sql Server 2005, and if my understanding is correct, it does not produce subscription files that are compatible with Sql Compact 3.5. If I am wrong in this assumption, please correct me. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The next time it runs it tries to do the same , but because the rows were previously deleted it fails . I use SQLite database browser to inspect the database ,after first run (when the rows are deleted) and I observe that the rows that no longer should exist are still in the database , even if ehwn running the app again those rows are no longer visible ! What is the cause for this behavior ?

    Hello, I have a schema schema1 in a postgres database A. I want to have a duplicate of this schema (model + data) in database B under the name schema2. What are my options ? I currently : * dump schema1 from database A * sed my way through schema renaming in the dump : schema1 becomes schema2 * restore schema2 in database B but I am looking for a more efficient procedure.     I'm trying to write a new entry to a rails database.yml and for some reason I'm getting quotes around this entry db_yml = {'new_env' = {'database' = 'database_name', '<<' = '*defaults' }} File.open("#{RAILS_ROOT}/config/database.yml", "a") {|f| YAML.dump(db_yml, f)} returns --- new_env: database: database_name "<<": "*defaults" I don't know why the "---" and the quotes around the defaults are returned, any thoughts on how to prevent? thanks!

  • sqlite3_prepare_v2 throws SQLITE_ERROR in iPhone code

    I have a piece of code that used to work, and other iterations of it that DO work within the same app, and have compared code, and they are identical in structure. This is driving me INSANE!!!!!! In this instance, sqlite3_prepare_v2 is throwing one of those useless SQLITE_ERROR exceptions. Apparently, it can FIND the database, and OPEN the database, but it can't prepare a statement for it. Does ANYONE have any ideas?
