  • Action Controller: Exception - ID not found

    Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase.     Hi, I have 2 canvas created on the same canvas. Is it possible to drag the small black one around? I want to make it draggable but I can not find any online tutorial or demo on this. Is it possible? I had looked to Canvas moveTo or transitions but I was unable to make it work.   • Date javascript object from IE cannot be automatically bound to Datetime in ASP.NET MVC

    Hi There, I have a site that uses a jquery calendar to display events. I have noticed than when using the system from within IE (all versions) ASP.NET MVC will fail to bind the datetime to the action that send back the correct events. The sequence of events goes as follows. Calendar posts to server to get events Server ActionMethod accepts start and end date, automatically bound to datetime objects In every browser other than IE the start and end date come through as: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 GMT When IE posts the date, it comes through as Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 UTC ASP.NET MVC 2 will then fail to automatically bind this to the action method parameter. Is there a reason why this is happening?   • Can MYSQL filter by date if date is stored as text? ex "02/10/1984"

    Hello! I am trying to modify an app for a client which has already a database of over 1000 items. The dates are stored as text in the database with the format "02/10/1984". The system allows you to add and remove fields to the catalog dynamically and it also allows the advanced search to have specific fields be allowed. The problem is that it wasn't designed with dates in mind, so when I set a field as a date, and try to search by a range the query is trying to do a AND (cfv0.value = 01/02/2004 AND cfv0.value <= 05/03/2008) . I can make it so the date range passed is a numeric time value. Is there a way that when sending the query, it takes the text fields (with the date) and converts it to numeric time value so at that point I am basically just comparing numbers which would work fine. I do not have the option to change all the current date to numeric value due to the way the dynamic fields are set up. Thanks guys!

    Hi folks, I'm having a major issue with an XSD dataset mapping thingy that I'm using within my current project. We are using XSDs for some data abstraction (it's quicker and debatably more maintainable that using Parameterised SQL or a StoredProc), and on my machine (running in the VS development environment) thy're working fine. However, on the Pre-production server we use for our testing, the XSDs are not working correctly: some method calls will fail with the following error: System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range. at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleParameter.set_DbType(DbType value) Has anyone ever encountered this issue before? The methods being called are simple select statements using 1-3 parameters, and as I said before they work fine on my machine.

  • Reliable way to get the "ancestor" of an object with a specific classname, using jQuery

    I've got a javascript function that gets called on change event of a select form element. So, the "this" variable in js refers to the select element. This select element is in a td tag, in a tr tag. The tr tag has a classname of "FilterDetailsRow". Now, I've tested, and if I use this syntax: var filterRow = $(this).parent().parent(); it gets me what I want. However, is there a better way to tell jQuery, "starting with "this" can you please go up my tree of parents until you find one with a classname of "FilterDetailsRow"? Here's what I came up with, but I want to make sure I"m not reinventing the wheel. function GetFilterDetailsRowOfObject(o) { if (o) { if (o.parent()[0].className.indexOf("FilterDetailsRow") != -1) return o; else return GetFilterDetailsRowOfObject(o.parent()); } else { return null; } } Thanks for any advice.

  • Image gallery control for ASP.Net with filtering capabilities

    I'm writing an ASP.Net application which needs to display a large number of thumbnails, preferably in a paginated format. These thumbnails will be stored on the server's hard disk, but will have their filenames listed in a SQL Server database. What I want to do is to be able to filter the images being displayed based on criteria within the database. I've looked at the NotesForGallery control, which I really like, but it doesn't seem to have a way to do that. --if I'm wrong, please correct me. Are there any other image gallery type controls, preferably free, that can do what I need? I'm hoping someone can recommend a control or solution that will point me in the right direction.   • MySQL Insert Statement Queue

    We are building an ajax application in which a users input is submitted for processing to a php script. We are currently writing every request to a log file for tracking. I would like to move this tracking into a database table but I do not want to run a insert statement after request. What I would like to do is set up a 'queue' of transactions (inserts and updates) that need to be processed on the MySQL database. I would then set up a cron job or process to check and process the transactions in the queue. Is there something out there that we could build upon or do we have to just write to plain ol' text log files and process them?

  • List<object>.RemoveAll - How to create an appropriate Predicate

    This is a bit of noob question - I'm still fairly new to C# and generics and completely new to predicates, delegates and lamda expressions... I have a class 'Enquiries' which contains a generic list of another class called 'Vehicles'. I'm building up the code to add/edit/delete Vehicles from the parent Enquiry. And at the moment, I'm specifically looking at deletions. From what I've read so far, it appears that I can use Vehicles.RemoveAll() to delete an item with a particular VehicleID or all items with a particular EnquiryID. My problem is understanding how to feed .RemoveAll the right predicate - the examples I have seen are too simplistic (or perhaps I am too simplistic given my lack of knowledge of predicates, delegates and lambda expressions). So if I had a List<Of Vehicle> Vehicles where each Vehicle had an EnquiryID, how would I use Vehicles.RemoveAll() to remove all vehicles for a given EnquiryID? I understand there are several approaches to this so I'd be keen to hear the differences between approaches - as much as I need to get something working, this is also a learning exercise. As an supplementary question, is a Generic list the best repository for these objects? My first inclination was towards a Collection, but it appears I am out of date. Certainly Generics seem to be preferred, but I'm curious as to other alternatives. Thanks

    Hello, I am trying to save a SystemUser entity in JPA. I also want to save certain things like who created the SystemUser and who last modified the system User as well. @ManyToOne(targetEntity = SystemUser.class) @JoinColumn private SystemUser userWhoCreated; @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP) @DateTimeFormat(iso=ISO.DATE_TIME) private Date timeCreated; @ManyToOne(targetEntity = SystemUser.class) @JoinColumn private SystemUser userWhoLastModified; @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP) @DateTimeFormat(iso=ISO.DATE_TIME) private Date timeLastModified; I also want to ensure that these values are not null when persisted. So If I use the NotNull JPA annotation, that is easily solved (along with reference to another entity) The problem description is simple, I cannot save rootuser without having rootuser in the system if I am to use a DataLoader class to persist JPA entity. Every other later user can be easily persisted with userWhoModified as the "systemuser" , but systemuser it's self cannot be added in this scheme. Is there a way so persist this first system user (I am thinking with SQL). This is a typical bootstrap (chicken or the egg) problem i suppose.

    Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine.     As an example, Google App Engine uses data stores, not a database, to store data. Does anybody have any tips for using data stores instead of databases? It seems I've trained my mind to think 100% in object relationships that map directly to table structures, and now it's hard to see anything differently. I can understand some of the benefits of data stores (e.g. performance and the ability to distribute data), but some good database functionality is sacrificed (e.g. joins). Does anybody who has worked with data stores like BigTable have any good advice to working with them?
