knowing what PowerShell can do on a command line I have never learned how to write GUIs with it. Should I?
Or just go back to the good old HTA / VBScript?

If I create a new file and write import game; then Eclipse complains that it does not know what the "game" package means. Can somebody please help me to solve this problem?

I'm trying to write some software to read a MIDI file into an internal data format and use it to control 3D simulated instruments.
My biggest problem is reading the MIDI data in from a file, and I'd like to avoid writing all the import code.
Does anyone know of a free (preferably Open Source), cross-platform MIDI file reading library?
What features does it have?
Can it import other note-based music formats?
Hi there,
I need to write a script that takes the current path (%~dp0), transforms backslashes into forward slashes and passes it further to some command.
Due to the environment I'm working in the only option that I have is windows shell (not Powershell where the issue would not a problem).
Is it even possible to do that?
Background: I am new to scheme, and am using DrScheme to write my programs.
The following program outputs 12345 when I run the program as r5rs:
12345
However the following program outputs nothing (it's an r6rs program):
#!r6rs
(import (rnrs))
12345
That being said, I can get it to output 12345 by doing this:
#!r6rs
(import (rnrs))
(display 1235)
Is that something new with r6rs, where output only occurs when specifically specified using display? Or am I just doing something else wrong

When I create preference activity I define all preferences in xml file. Every preference has a key defined in this xml. But when I access preference I write:
SharedPreferences appPreferences = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this);
boolean foo_value = appPreferences.getBoolean("foo_key_defined_in_xml", false);
Is there any way to avoid acessing "foo_key_defined_in_xml" in hard-coded way?
Maybe there is a possibility to access it in R style way?
Hi,
I need to call a very complex service (It's a HL7 service) it's taking a lot of unnecessary information.
To call from java I need to write all those information and its very time consuming.
I have sample XMLs, they have been filled with those unnecessary information, I just need to change 1 parameter and send it.
How can I use that already generated XML?
Thanks,
Say I got two functions that looks like this:
function main(Index)
{
doStuff();
}
function doStuff()
{
if(Index == 1)
{
document.write("Hello world!")
}
}
And some HTML:
<input type="button" value="Click me" onclick="main(1)" />
I realize this is a very stupid way to use function-specific variables and such, but it's just out of curiosity. So is it possible to pass the variable Index from the main function to the doStuff function?
What's a good way to keep counting up infinitely? I'm trying to write a condition that will keep going until there's no value in a database, so it's going to iterate from 0, up to theoretically infinity (inside a try block, of course).
How would I count upwards infinitely? Or should I use something else?
I am looking for something similar to i++ in other languages, where it keeps iterating until failure.
Hi.
I need to rotate an image when the user do a two finger twist on it.
do you have an idea on how i can code this or if you've done this before.
I think it would be a good idea to write a class that detect all the main gesture and provide iif.
I'm using Python to read and write SAS datasets, using pyodbc and the SAS ODBC drivers. I can load the data perfectly well, but when I save the data, using something like:
cursor.execute('insert into dataset.test VALUES (?)', u'testing')
... I get a pyodbc.Error: ('HY004', '[HY004] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] SQL data type out of range (0) (SQLBindParameter)') error.
The problem seems to be the fact I'm passing a unicode string; what do I need to do to handle this?
Here i have installed

I've recently been catching up on my podcasts and reading and found this article from Joel Spolsky. The Question that I for all of you is the following.
Is Unit Testing Important?
What do you test?
Do you write unit tests on all your projects?
I suppose this question is a bit more of a poll on unit test coverage.
I'm using LINQ2SQL and I want to compare two tables and select all rows that are missing from one tables (based upon one of the column values).
In standard SQL I would write this as:
SELECT
FirstName,
LastName,
RefId,
Email
FROM
Users_ActiveDirectory AS ADU
WHERE
NOT EXISTS
(
SELECT
U.RefId
FROM
Users AS U
WHERE
U.RefID = ADU.RefId
)
However I'm not sure how to achieve the same result using LINQ2SQL?
Im tring to make something like a textbox for a console application,

I have a very large CSV file and I need to write an app that will parse it but using the 6GB file to test against is painful, is there a simple way to extract the first hundred or two lines without having to load the entire file into memory?
The file resides on a Debian server.
I have a question:

Can I get a badge of some sort for this?
I have a table (EmployeeID,EmployeeName,ManagerID) How can I create a sqldatasource to include the ManagerName from the EmployeeName given EmployeeID = ManagerID? In my gridview after dragging a dropdownlist what bindings should I do to display the managerName? Is it possible to use it without writing custom select,insert,delete,update? If not what are the steps I need to do to write the whole thing i.e. custom grid and source?
Thank you very much
I am running SQL Server 2005 and I want to dump some dummy data into a large table with about 50 columns (I did not design it :P) - anyone know a tool to do this automatically? I want the rows to have all sorts of different data, and I would rather not write a script if there is already a tool out there - thanks.
